August 29th, 2014  - Boston, MA rock band Crash Midnight will be hitting the road this Fall with The Pretty Reckless and Adelitas Way in support of their upcoming debut album 'Lost In The City'.

'Lost In The City' will be release on 11/18 via Bronx Bridge Entertainment/Universal. The album's first single is the track, '151' - about the notorious high proof alcohol of the same name. 'Out of all of our songs, this one has been around the longest,' says front man Shaun Soho. 'It was originally kind of a tongue in cheek party song that ended up taking on a life of its own and becoming one of our most requested songs live so we ended up going back and putting a lot of work into making it into a real song.' '151' erupts with an infectious riff and energy that instantly sweeps the audience up in the debauchery and careens them through a raucous anthem full of everything that rock n' roll is all about and proves Crash Midnight has all the goods to deliver on their hype.

TRIBE OF GYPSIES added to 'De La Tierra' Fonda Theatre show!

TRIBE OF GYPSIES added to DE LA TIERRA Fonda Theatre show!

August 27, 2014 - Los Angeles, CA based Latin rockers TRIBE OF GYPSIES, featuring guitarist/songwriter Roy Z (BRUCE DICKINSON, HALFORD), have been announced as the supporting act for South American metal all-stars DE LA TIERRA, led by guitarist Andreas Kisser of SEPULTURA fame and drummer Alex Gonzalez (of MANA), on Sunday, August 31 at the Fonda Theatre, 6126 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood CA 90028.  For ticket information go to:
Commented Z: "Needless to say, we're totally stoked to have been added to the bill and we want to thank Andreas and the De La Tierra family for the honor of having us at their L.A. live debut. Andreas and I became bros when I worked on Sepultura's "Kairos" album and I'm very much looking forward to sharing the stage with him on Sunday.  Tribe hasn't done a proper show in L.A. in almost 8 years so we're ready to get down and have some fun.  We will be missing our regular singer Phil (Diamond) who is still back in Greece and won't be able to make this one as everything came together on short notice but we've got our brother German (Briseao) on board so we've got it covered.  We'll be playing a bunch of the old classics and throw in our brand new song "Yeah!" as well; we shot a video for that one which we'll be online shortly so stay tuned for that."
TRIBE OF GYPSIES are currently working on a new studio album, the long-awaited follow-up to 2006's "Dweller on the Threshold."  It is set to feature Roy Z, co-founding member/bassist, Eddie Casillas, and long-time percussionist Elvis Balladares alongside Greek native Phil Diamond (lead vocals), Matt Amper (keyboards), Adam Ponce (drums), and latest addition, percussionist Ino Alvarez (BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB).  The new line-up had its live unveiling on July 26 at Germany's Rock of Ages festival alongside KANSAS, SAXON, TNT, NAZARETH, WISHBONE ASH and others.

OVERDRIVE in Japan ' the tour that almost wasn't...

OVERDRIVE in Japan ' the tour that almost wasn't...

Swedish classic heavy metal band OVERDRIVE are just back from their first Japan tour. A tour that almost ended before it started...

Three days before the band were leaving for Japan, Saturday August 9, they were playing a show in Karlshamn. On the way to the venue, guitarist Janne Stark received a call from drummer Kenta Svensson. Being an actor in a wild west show, he was accidently shot in the hand with a powder gun and badly injured two of his fingers on his right hand making it impossible to play.

Instead of canceling, the band did an acoustic set. Kenta was hoping it would heal before the Japan-trip, but on the Sunday, he received a message from the hand surgeon, he would not be able to play for months, if ever, or even go to Japan. This was a HUGE blow both to Kenta and also the rest of the band.
However, the show had to go on, the band could not cancel the Japan trip! They asked Kenta's son Linus Svensson (Care Of Night) if he could fill in, but unfortunately he had other engagements. The band then asked guitarist Kjell's son Jimmy Lexe (whom Janne had also played with in Locomotive Breath) and also Peter TrumPeter Svensson (Constancia, Mercy, Faith, Locomotive Breath), who both would check the possibility to fill in. Sunday evening Jimmy called and said he could reschedule his engagements, and later on so did Peter. Since Jimmy was first and he's "family" he was in.
Overdrive now only had two days to find Jimmy an air ticket, preferably together with the rest of the band, which they did! Then it was the fact that they had to order and receive a Japan rail pass for Jimmy before the departure two days later! Thanks to Japanspecialisten Sverige it arrived in a registered letter the day before the trip!
Monday the 11th, bassist Pelle Thuresson, guitarist Kjell Jacobsson and Jimmy did a short rehearsal to go through the 14 songs they were to play. On the flight over, on the 13th, Jimmy was only listening to Overdrive. Plugging the songs!
The band arrived in Tokyo late evening on the 14th and the first show in Tokyo was on the 15th. Fortunately Shuji Matsumoto of Rubicon Music had arranged a rehearsal studio, which enabled the band to rehearse for the first time in the morning of the 15th. One rehearsal proved that Jimmy had done an EXCELLENT homework! The band then played a show at Birth Club in Tokyo, at Zeela in Osaka and an in-store unplugged show at the newly opened HMV Record Shop in Shibuya, Tokyo.

About RAVEN:

According to the pages of the various metal media, the labels "LEGENDARY," "INNOVATIVE," "TRUE ORIGINALS," as well as "LUNATICS!" have been rightfully pinned upon RAVEN over the years. In a music scene filled by clones nurtured with a cookie-cutter mentality, the unique personality, power and humor of the three band members has always shone through. The crazed vocals & bass playing of John Gallagher, the full frontal guitar assault of brother, Mark Gallagher, and the punishing polyrhythmic pounding of drummer, Joe Hasselvander, all combine to form a sonic battering ram unique in rock!

From the well documented early days as NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) frontrunners, RAVEN's albums ROCK UNTIL YOU DROP, WIPED OUT and ALL FOR ONE virtually invented both the speed metal and power metal genres - during the trailblazing USA tours of the 80's introducing the States to "Athletic rock" as well as giving opening acts like Metallica and Anthrax their first tours, through the doldrums of the late 80's/early 90's when a grunge obsessed media wrote off so many acts - RAVEN has consistently proved to be both survivors par excellence and in a genre of grim imitation - shown that they are "the real thing". Where so many of their contemporaries have either faded creatively or become parodies of themselves, RAVEN have consistently pushed the envelope while retaining their unique sound and attack - both in the studio & in their true element, onstage!

We’ve got one more small adjustment to the MelodicRockFest 4 lineup to make.
Due to a scheduling conflict not in place at the time of arranging the MRF event, Jimi Jamison is now not able to attend to join Joe Vana and Mecca on stage.
Jimi was awesome at MRF3 and this is disappointing news, but Survivor now kick off European dates within days of Jimi’s planned MRF appearance.
So how do we compensate for this? How about calling up the one, the only, the fabulous Mr. Kevin Chalfant?!!
Here’s what Joe Vana has to say:
“Kevin is joining Mecca for the new Mecca 3 album and MRF. We will be doing some material from The Storm, Kev's solo material and new Mecca as well as a few old Mecca Standbys.
The band will start rehearsing when Shannon Forrest and David Hungate get done with TOTO's tour of the USA.
This will be a once in a lifetime production as we have the whole band there....LIVE...for ONE night ONLY!!!”

Grammy Nominated Rock Band SKILLET Announce UK Dates

Thursday, August 14, 2014

Two-time Grammy nominated rock band SKILLET announce UK dates, exclaiming "We can't wait to rock out with our fans on our first ever UK headline tour! Our UK fans have been so loyal and have been waiting for this for a long time! We are planning an incredible full length set with all the works. UK here we come!"

Skillet play the Glasgow Garage on 12th October, Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall on 13th October and London's O2 Islington Academy on 14th October.

Skillet's current album Rise features the singles 'Sick Of It' and 'Not Gonna Die' and follows the band's 2009 blockbuster, Awake, which was certified platinum for sales in excess of one million copies in the U.S. Remarkably, Skillet was the only active rock band to achieve platinum certification last year, and one of only three rock bands (the other two being Mumford & Sons and the Black Keys) to strike platinum that year.

The band maintains momentum with Rise, a gripping coming-of-age narrative that stands as their first concept album'though lead singer/bassist John Cooper says it wasn't premeditated. The album tells the story of a typical American teen coming into adulthood and trying to figure out who he is in a world riddled with problems both within and outside his control.

'The narrative idea happened after we had 10 or 11 of the songs chosen,' he says. 'As we recorded them, we started to realize that there was something going on'that the album was really telling a story. Realizing that, I knew we needed to make it as powerful as we could.'

The result is a wildly ambitious work as heady as it is visceral. Sonically, the disc sees the band expanding their musical palette, integrating natural, acoustic instruments like accordion, mandolin, dulcimer, harp, tympani and bells to their trademark slashing electric guitars, strings, churning synths and pummeling drums.

Skillet (Cooper, guitarist/keyboardist Korey Cooper, drummer/vocalist Jen Ledger and guitarist Seth Morrison) recorded the album in Los Angeles, where they re-teamed with producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, All American Rejects), who helmed Awake.

Awake debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart and No. 1 on the magazine's Top Modern Rock/Alternative Albums Chart. In addition, the record hit No. 1 on iTunes' Top Album Chart, garnered 3 Billboard Music Awards and spawned four hit singles including the No. 1 Active Rock smash and gold-certified 'Awake & Alive,' the gold-certified "Hero," "It's Not Me It's You" and the platinum-certified "Monster." "Monster" lived up to its name, selling more than a million copies and hitting Top 5 at Active Rock radio (the first in a string of multiple Top 5 active rock hits), while its companion video has generated over 47 million YouTube views. Skillet over the course of the past few years have sold more than two million units in the U.S. alone, racked up more than 150 million YouTube views and amassed a diehard following (dubbed Panheads) whose members number in the millions. Skillet are now set to conquer the UK.

The supreme lords of the genre own their style, best described as mixing the progressive tendencies of bands such as Pink Floyd, Rush and Yes with the metal edge of Metallica and Iron Maiden. With a career spanning close to 30 years, Dream Theater have recorded over 10 million album sales around the world to a fanatical diehard fanbase.
It has been 5 years since Dream Theater’s last visit in 2009 and Australian fans have been chomping at the bit for a return tour from the mesmerising kings of post prog metal.
Metropolis Touring and Tombowler are therefore thrilled to announce Dream Theater will be finally returning to Australia for two very special, exclusive and intimate performances in Sydney and Melbourne this October!
Expressive, extraordinary and genre-defining, Dream Theater’s music is as timeless as their dozen-album strong discography would suggest, while their latest album, the self-titled Dream Theater sees the band ever advancing toward new horizons.  This latest record is the first featuring the full integration into the band of new drummer Mike Mangini, making their current lineup something to behold.
The mountain of awards and accolades from publications such as Guitar World, Revolver, Metal Hammer, Rolling Stone, Spin, Classic Rock as well as Grammy nominations rightly bestowed upon the band over the course of their storied career shouldn’t overshadow the most important thing Dream Theater has always offered: engaging, deeply resonant and undeniably catchy songs.
Pull Me Under, Caught In A Web, Forsaken, Lie, Take The Time, On The Backs Of Angels, Trial Of Tears, As I Am, Burning My Soul and The Enemy Inside are but just a few songs that have left fans in awe as they witness Dream Theater’s fingers fly; stirring up their own weather system of atmospheric and hauntingly hypnotic prog prowess.
Flawless as their albums are, it is the live setting where Dream Theater truly shine - their music comes alive, showcasing a gargantuan sound (and having John Petrucci’s wall of guitar blasting you in the face is something that has to be experienced to be believed!)
“Whenever a band of the magnitude of Dream Theater comes to town, the excitement is palpable. Tonight was no different, and the Palais was packed with fans itching to share in an experience that only takes place once every few years”FasterLouder
Dream Theater’s proficiency and technical wizardry is at full flight with the near three hour ‘An Evening With Dream Theatre’ performance loaded with nothing but the best from Dream Theater! The tour has been nominated for a ‘best live event’ award at this year’s Progressive Music Awards, demonstrating it is certainly one of the finest Prog shows currently touring the world.  Ensure you are one of the lucky ones along for the ride with Dream Theater on their two exclusive Australian performances in October!

THE FIFTH Return To Action

Thursday, August 7, 2014
North Carolina hard rockers The Fifth are set to hit the boards once again with upcoming live shows in Raleigh, NC and Pekin, IL, doing photo shoots, adding a new band member, writing and demoing new music and just preparing to take the latter part of 2014 by the balls.
"While our bass player, Franko, has been overseas we've taken advantage of the time to work on new material and find the perfect drummer that fits with The Fifth," says frontman Roy Cathey. "Welcoming Darius Rose into the fold has really given us a sense of stability and dedication we’ve been needing.  Guitarist, Icky Jim and myself also made an appearance last year at the 2013 Skullfest in N.Platte, Nebraska playing an acoustic set of material from The Fifth, Cold Sweat and Gibraltar (Cathey's pre-Cold Sweat hard rock outfit). This gave us a chance to reconnect with the melodic rock audience that may still remember me from my Cold Sweat days.
The band's new material leans in a heavier direction while still keeping it's melodic sensibilities. "When we added Franko to the band after recording 'Confessions of Man' so many new doors were opened musically and allowed Icky and myself to really stretch ourselves," states Roy. "With a bass player influenced by Geezer Butler, Steve Harris and Cliff Burton it’s going to change your sound and we feel it's for the better. We've yet to even come close to reaching our potential. It's very exciting.".
On the live front, The Fifth has upcoming shows on November 1 at The Deep South in Raleigh, NC, the Rock N' Skull Festival in Pekin, IL on November 15 (alongside Black N' Blue, Tuff, Babylon AD and others) and on December 5 at The Lincoln Theater in Raleigh with Rubicon Cross.

TESLA Returns to the Canyon Club with Simplicity

Monday, August 4, 2014
From Joe Dolan in LA:

Touring in support of their seventh studio release, Tesla performed to a sold out crowd at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, CA on August 2nd, 2014. The new album, titled Simplicity, features 14 original songs with two bonus tracks on the Japanese released version of the CD. Gaining immediate traction upon release, the straight forward hard rockers landed on the Billboard Top 200 at number 24 with first week sales boasting over 14,000 copies; a more than admiral feat for a band that got it's legs during the MTV Headbanger's Ball generation.

Simplicity was released to the general public on June 10th through all music retail outlets. The bands easily identifiable logo graces the jacket in black and white and the songs feature founding guitarist Frank Hannon's unique and straight from the gut blues laden rhythms and melodious solos. Throughout the CD, songs offer hook laden acoustic guitar rhythms that delicately blend with clean distortion to create an evolution of sound for the band that holds true to their history in creating hard rock classics.

Front man and vocalist Jeff Keith shares, 'We always make a record we love and you guys say, we don't like it, but we like it and that's good enough for us.'

When asked about the recording sessions, where rumors have circulated about the band having recorded 28 tracks for CD, Keithshares, 'We decided on the bus the other day that all these demos songs that didn't make the record, for our 30th anniversary we can put out a box set. The problem is, we have to find all those old recordings.'

On June 7th, the band released a video for the song So Devine, a chilling homage to a close friend of the band that had recently passed away. Response to the video has earned more than 86,000 views on YouTube and Vevo in the first two months and has gained a new following for the band in both listenership and concert turnout.

On stage, four of the founding five members of the band performed with guitarist Dave Rude who has been the consistent rhythm guitarist in the band since replacing Tommy Skeoch, who took time off for personal reasons in 2006. The set list offered tracks from the new album and a friendly reminder of the music that broke the band in the 80's, ending with three tracks from the bands first CD,Mechanical Resonance.

The set was performed as follows:

01. MP3
02. Edison's Medicine
03. I Wanna Live
04. Hang Tough
05. So Devine
06. Heaven's Trail
07. Mama's Fool
08. Life Is A River
09. The Way It Is
10. Burnout To Fade
11. What You Give
12. Signs
13. Love Song
14. Getting' Better
15. Modern Day Cowboy
16. Little Suzi

The show at the Canyon Club marks the end of the western leg of the tour and offers the band an eight day reprieve before continuing at the Hampton Beach Club Casino in New Hampshire and crossing the Midwest to bring the band back to California, and as scheduled, a finishing performance in Las Vegas at the East Side Cannery Casino.

Tesla is also scheduled to perform as part of the line-up on the Monster's Of Rock Cruise Miami on April 22nd, 2015.

Follow the band online by visiting their official website at Social media links are available on the website.

REO SPEEDWAGON Fall Short at Los Angeles Concert

Monday, August 4, 2014

By Gerry Gittelson Los Angeles correspondent

LOS ANGELES - In the context of all rock performances, REO Speedwagon proved relatively entertaining with an hour-long concert set Friday, Aug. 1 at the famed Greek Theatre. Yet based on the American group's own standards through decades of successful arena tours, hit singles and one of the greatest melodic-rock albums of all time in 1981 with 'Hi-Infidelity,' the fivesome pretty much stunk up the place.

Just about every hit song was ruined by intentionally slowing the tempo ' not to mention being tuned down at least one step ' and there was definitely something wrong with the way Kevin Cronin was singing; that's something unusual because Cronin is usually the best thing about REO Speedwagon.

Perhaps this was on off-night because Cronin's voice might have been strained ' sometimes he was kind of talking the lyrics instead of actually singing them ' or perhaps REO Speedwagon felt it was a good idea to slow things down so considerably because they're touring with Chicago, a more mellow act than REO Speedwagon's usual tour-mates like Styx or Journey over the past ten years or so.

At any rate, the whole thing was rather disappointing because surely we were not the only ones who wanted to hear such selections as 'Keep On Loving You' and 'Can't Fight This Feeling' executed just as we remember them from our car radios.

Instead of jumping up and going crazy like most would on a summer weekend night in the band's adopted home city, the crowd mostly remained in their chairs and politely applauded, but it was clear to most of us that something was just not right.

Plus, Cronin did way too much talking between songs, even though he is generally charismatic and delightfully glib, and there were too many unfamiliar selections for such a short set. A lot of big hits were there, but there was a lot of filler, too, with 'Music Man,' 'That Ain't Love' and an abysmal new one called 'Whipping Boy.'

REO Speedwagon was rounded out by guitarist Dave Amato, bassist Bruce Hall (who like usual sang 'Back on The Road Again'), keyboardist Neal Doughty, and aptly named drummer Bryan Hitt.

To be fair, though the concert seemed like a double bill, Chicago played last and were the real headliners, so this was essentially their crowd and not REO Speedwagon's, though back in the day REO was probably bigger at its peak yet has not sold as many records total nor enjoyed as many hits overall.

Chicago killed, even without long-gone original singer Peter Cetera, as the jazzy six-piece really got the crowd going with their catchy soft rock.

Then, after Chicago has been going for a little more than an hour, REO Speedwagon returned to the stage to join in, so there were 11 musicians up there ' including three percussionists ' and together they all played six more songs, including 'Ridin' The Storm Out,' 'Keep On Loving You' and 'Roll With The Changes,' and by this point REO Speedwagon had pretty much salvaged the night and returned to our good graces.

The last song, Chicago's '25 or 6 to 4,' saw the singers from both bands taking turns, and the whole thing was pretty cool.

SKULLFEST 2 Updated Details Announced

Friday, October 10, 2014

Skull Fest is set to return to the middle of America this year, with a hard rocking line-up featuring both classic artists and up-and-comers alike!  Concert promoter and organizer, Arttie Parker, says the festival is aiming to give the fans the best of both worlds and to fit the needs of the concert goers.
“We are very excited with this year’s line-up!  We feel like we have two absolute legends in Lizzy Borden and LA Guns as headliners for Friday and Saturday, respectively, and a really strong supporting cast of unique acts that people can’t simply go out and see anytime they want to.  In fact, this will be the ONLY North American appearance of House Of Lords this year, so if you want to see them, Skull Fest is the place to be!  Additionally, we have Killer Dwarfs making the trip down from Canada, and Jetboy will be appearing in Nebraska for the first time, I believe.  Mix in other classic bands like Bang Tango and London, Tango Down (which features David Reece of Bangalore Choir and Accept on vocals), and several newer bands such as Loveblast, Bombay Black, Kickin’ Valentina, Stonebreed, Maxx Explosion, and Saints of Rebellion, and it’s a great line-up!
We also just added Pink Velvet Krush, a new band that features members of BulletBoys, Steelheart, Britny Fox, Vaudeville, and Dust N Bones.  Then, add an absolute guitar shredder in Xander Demos, Benedictum, and regional favorites, 9ine Foot Squirrel, who have a CRAZY nine year old drummer!   Plus, the ‘Reverend’ Luc Carl will be emceeing both nights!”  It’s definitely going to be a party you don’t want to miss!
This year’s festival is scheduled for October 10 and 11 at Sculley’s Shooters in North Platte, NE, which is dead center in the middle of the United States, and an easy drive from major airports in Denver or Omaha.  Tickets start at just $25, with single day or full event VIP packages also still available.
“We still have a few VIP packages left, including just a handful of the Rock Star Experience VIP package, which not only gets you your very own guitar and amplifier, but you also get guitar lessons from Xander Demos!”

BOSTON Brings Roar Of Approval In Sold Out Concert In Los Angeles

Thursday, July 31, 2014

By Gerry Gittelson Los Angeles correspondent

LOS ANGELES -- Boston was not treated especially well here at in terms of reviewing the band's new CD 'Life, Love & Hope' ' and rightfully so because the album is a far cry from what the legendary band once was all about ' but thank god for a back catalog overflowing with incredible songs, mostly from Boston's pre-1990 era.

Led by guitarist Tom Scholz, Boston is touring again, and the group absolutely tore it up on Tuesday, July 29 in a soldout performance before more than 17,000 spectators at the Forum in Los Angeles.

Boston stuck mostly to all the classic hits, mixing in only a small handful of new songs, and the crowd ate it up. My gosh, we have not witnessed a band that sounded this good with such incredible dynamics in a long time.

Opening with a roaring version of 'Rock & Roll Band,' Boston proved ultra-tight and utterly clean, partially thanks to the building's revamped, high-tech PA system, and the place was going wild. Then came 'Smokin'' and 'Feelin' Satisfied,' and at that point Boston had total control of the room.

The last time we had seen Boston live in Los Angeles, new vocalist Tommy DeCarlo was just starting out, having been discovered on youtube, and back then he was overweight and without the charisma to be a frontman for such a majestic band ' and co-lead singer Michael Sweet (now gone) also sucked that night ' but wow what a difference a few years has made. This time, DeCarlo was a different man, well-fit and confident, and my goodness he sang well as a replacement for the late Brad Delp, who was about as irreplaceable as a lead singer could be.

The songs were tuned down a step or so ' as is the case with most classic-rock bands this side of Journey ' but except for failing to hit the very highest notes like on 'Peace of Mind' and a few others, DeCarlo was right in the groove.

On 'Don't Look Back,' Scholz was his usual dominant self, the lanky guitarist tearing his way through the classic radio hit -- including that unforgettable mid-song guitar riff -- and he was Eddie Van Halen-like when he broke into a guitar solo about an hour into the spectacle.

Co-guitarist Gary Pihl proved impressive, too, and with a total of seven players up there making music, Boston put on a show that was richly dramatic and geared toward optimum audience enjoyment.

Everything was going splendidly until former American idol finalist Siobhan Magnus jumped on stage towards the end for 'Walk On' and almost ruined the whole thing with her screaming ' guess Scholz is just too nice to say no ' but the momentum was back in Boston's hands with 'Foreplay/Longtime,' then an encore of 'Party' to finish the evening with an exclamation point.

Overall, a five-star performance. This is about as good as it gets in the classic-rock circuit.

Openers Cheap Trick proved great, too. Robin Zander has never sounded better, and oh what a treat it was to hear well-executed versions of 'Ain't That a Shame,' 'California Man,' 'Surrender, 'Dream Police' and of course 'I Want You to Want Me.'

Zany guitarist Rick Nielsen appeared to be having the time of his life, jumping around the stage, switching guitars and throwing out an endless stream of guitar picks.

LA GUNS marks 30 Years with a Return to the Whisky A Go-Go

Thursday, July 31, 2014

LA Guns marks 30 Years with a Return to the Whisky A Go-Go
From Joe Dolan in LA:

The world famous Whisky A Go-Go played host to a night of local favorites with a headlining show by LA Guns, a band that got it's start on the very same stage 30 years ago. While the names have changed, as far as the performing line-up goes, the sound remains the same; and fans in attendance showed zero lack of support as the venue was filled to capacity by the time LA Guns took the stage.

Front man Phil Lewis was not a member of the 1983/84 line-up of the band when they first assembled the group and began their domination of the 80'sera Sunset Strip music scene. The band rotated members in and out at the time, blending parts with the group Hollywood Rose and eventually spawning two cornerstones in the MTV Headbanger's Ball generation '' LA Guns and Guns n' Roses. The result remains legendary in the influence of literally hundreds, if not thousands of bands that followed. By the time 1985 came around, however, the band had secured Lewis on vocals and his songwriting prowess and live performance history would meld with that of former band guitarist and founding member Tracii Guns to create a sound that would land the band a place in the rock and roll history books forever.

The current line-up of LA Guns includes singer Phil Lewis (Girl, Torme), guitarist Michael Grant (Endeverafter, Assassins), drummer Steve Riley (WASP, Steppenwolf) who has performed with the band as far back as 1987 and on bass guitar, Scotty Griffin (Hookers and Blow, The King Mixers.) The level of authority that each member provides from a history in recording and performing on the hard rock circuit played a key role in turning a night at the Whisky in to a show that concertgoers will talk about for some time to come.

When the curtain dropped and the lights came up, the band opened their set with four fan favorites. The opening song was Show No Mercy, a hard rocker that launched the band in to stardom as the first track of the self-titled debut by the band in 1988, eventually reaching gold status after the release of their follow up album titled Cocked & Loaded. Next came the 2nd track from the same album, Sex Action then two songs from the sophomore release ' Never Enough and I WWanna Be Your Man. Throughout the night, LA Guns ran the gamut of singles from their catalog, touching on the strongest songs fans have responded to throughout their history. From the back of the room to the stage, attendees raised their horns and sang along, one fan even getting personal with the band was able to remove a cuff style bracelet from her arm and put it on Lewis' wrist with gratitude, which he responded to with thanks from the stage, wearing it for the rest of the show.

The band is now on tour, independently, and has scheduled performances across the US that will showcase a series of talents that also come from the same era of the band's years in scoring radio airplay. Throughout August and September, LA Guns will share stages with artists including Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick, Winger, The (London) Quireboys, Enuff Z'Nuff, Great White, Sebastian Bach (Skid Row,) Warrant, Queensryche and Trixter. A good look at the summer of 2014 begs one to ask ' 'What the hell year is this, wherre hard rock is the biggest thing taking the concert scene by storm?' Fans, it seems, are just grateful for the return of music that feeds their hungry hard rock hearts.

Keep up with the band and the upcoming tour dates by visiting the official website at, or on the social network through Facebook and Twitter. All links are available on the band's website.
