Angelmilk Records Announcement

Angelmilk Records is pleased to announce a new partnership with Andrew McNeice (owner/operator of MelodicRock.com), who will join the Angelmilk team to help develop the label further.
British based Angelmilk Records (www.angelmilkrecords.co.uk) has to date released the acclaimed Nexx album Another Dawn and recently signed Vox Tempus for a wider release of their debut album.
With a desire to expand the label, but a lack of time to do so, label boss Andy Bramhall approached McNeice, who he felt was in an ideal position to accept a new challenge.
Believing there is always room for a label with a desire to release only the highest quality music, a deal was struck.
McNeice will have a hands on role effective immediately, handling A&R (new signings and project development) and expanding distribution among other things.

Angelmilk owner Andy Bramhall comments: "I am extremely excited to have Andrew working for the label in his role heading up the A&R. Both of us think that there is room for more great music and artists to be developed in and around this scene.
Angelmilk has been kicking about for a year or so now and although we have a couple of projects in the pipeline, it has just been impossible to give the business the time and effort it deserves to be taken seriously, enter Mr. McNeice!
Andrew will be taking care of the day to day running of the label from sunny Australia. I have supported Andrew where I can over the past 2 years and I hope that with both our efforts we can build Angelmilk into a true force to be reckoned with, we are both looking beyond the standard here.
Please welcome Andrew to the team as I have done, and go easy on him while he settles in…stay tuned, its going to be great!!"

Andrew McNeice comments: "I couldn't be happier with my new role at Angelmilk. I must emphasize the fact that it is business as normal for MelodicRock.com. Absolutely nothing will change in regards to the site or the way it is run – with my daily updates and regular features all online as per usual.
This is simply a separate role for me and something that will help keep my creative juices flowing. I am always open to new challenges and after running MelodicRock.com for more than 10 years now, this seems perfectly timed. Staying inspired and focused upon the melodic rock world which I love is vital.
I will however, refrain from reviewing any Angelmilk releases. There is no way I will compromise the integrity of the site and I know Andy agrees with me on that. Angelmilk news and previews will continue to be presented on the site alongside all the other great labels and artists that I work with and help promote.
And further to that, while there is definitely a competitive streak among some labels in this business, it is not my desire to join in that game. With the regrettable demise of MTM Music, I believe there is a vacancy for another quality label to fill the big gap left by them, and present the record buying public with some quality releases that might otherwise not have found a home.
While I am at it, this will be a great opportunity to try out a few ideas I have up my sleeve and perhaps also do things a little differently at times.
There will be a few pet projects planned and importantly, some new talent too, always with the aim of releasing music of the highest possible quality. I talk about these things often enough on the site, so I view this as my chance to put that into action.
Angelmilk has always been a supporter of MelodicRock.com and was one of the few labels to actively sponsor MelodicRockFest last year. They believe in this music and this scene and that's exactly what I am all about. Let the challenge begin!"

Should anyone have any questions, comments, enquiries or submissions in relation to this announcement or Angelmilk in general, they can contact myself via the usual e-mail address: ajm@melodicrock.com.

Hi folks....finally the time has arrived to announce the details for the upcoming releases from the newly revitalized Angelmilk Records. Comments have been added from me and label owner Andy, plus many of the artists we have signed in the last several weeks. I look forward to hearing the feedback and believe me - this is just the beginning!

UK based Angelmilk Records is extremely pleased to announce our initial line-up of artists and releases for 2008 and trust that fans of the melodic rock genre will find plenty to look forward to in the months ahead. We begin with our very first release...

R I C K S P R I N G F I E L D

Angelmilk Records is both excited and honoured to announce the signing of melodic rock legend Rick Springfield to the label, for the European release of his brand new studio album Venus In Overdrive on Friday August 1.

xx

Venus In Overdrive is Rick Springfield's first full-length new studio work of original material since the critically acclaimed shock/denial/anger/acceptance in 2003. More upbeat and fun than the dark and introspective shock/denial/anger/acceptance, Venus In Overdrive marks a return to Rick's pop/rock roots. Venus In Overdrive is simultaneously classic and current -- and definitely the music fans have loved since Rick's distinctive canine companion Lethal Ron first graced the cover of his classic album Working Class Dog.
"In a way, I think we should have called this album 'Son of Working Class Dog.' The songs explore some of the same themes, albeit from a slightly older perspective," notes Rick. "It's an album about love in all of its forms...good, bad, happy, sad, the kind that drives you crazy...love and all of its human failings."
A creative collaboration between Rick and his longtime bass player Matt Bissonette, Venus In Overdrive was recorded in its entirety in only 32 days. "We were on a roll and just couldn't stop. It all flowed so naturally. Writing and recording these songs has been the most fun I've had in the studio since the early 80s," says Rick.
The first single from Venus In Overdrive is "What's Victoria's Secret?" Says Rick, "It's one of those titles that was waiting to be written and Matt (Bissonette) just came up with it first. It's about the sexualization of women and the dichotomy most men feel. As males we want that on one hand, but then it scares the hell out of us and we resist it. Mainly, we need to connect with women as human beings." Rick also notes that there are some familiar influences in the song. "The longing, lust, and insecurities revealed that made "Jessie's Girl" hit so close to home are there. It's not 'Jessie's Girl,' but touches some of the same places lyrically and musically."
By contrast, the album's title track is a different sound for Rick Springfield. With its dance and alternative influences, "Venus In Overdrive" is as contemporary as "What's Victoria's Secret" is retro. Still, its guitar tracks and raw sexual angst are signature Rick Springfield. "It surprises me when people use the word 'influences' like it's always something from the past. Bands like The Beatles and The Who made a huge impact on my life as a musician and a songwriter, but there are some really cool things happening in music now that inevitably find their way into my psyche. 'Venus In Overdrive' evolved that way," notes Rick.
Other songs on the album address different kinds of relationships, including loved ones lost. "There's a lot of personal stuff in these songs, but we've tried to craft them with a universal voice. In working on this album, Matt and I discovered the similarities in the relationships with our fathers -- things that were sometimes funny and maddening." Two songs on the record, "Saint Sahara" and "God Blinked" pay tribute to Sahara Aldridge, a young girl who frequently attended Rick's shows and who recently lost her battle with cancer. The whole band had come to love her as a member of the extended family and felt a great loss with her passing, but the songs are a celebration of her life and recognition of the people she affected in the world, making good on a promise to give her a song she could dance to.

Andrew McNeice: "To say that I am excited about this signing is the understatement of the year. Everyone that knows me and this site knows what a huge fan I am of Rick's work over the years. I have music from Rick dating back to 1968, and he has been a constant musical influence for me since becoming a fan in 1981 (along with so many others).
This year has been a stellar year for music, with several artists delivering their best work in more than 20 years. It is therefore especially rewarding to sign this new album from Rick, as I personally feel he has also delivered his best work in 20 years and one of his best releases ever.
Venus In Overdrive is nothing short of classic Rick Springfield with a fresh updated sound and I thank Rick and his management team for this opportunity in helping him re-connect with his European fan base."

Andy Bramhall: "Can I just say how proud Andrew and I are to be representing Rick Springfield in Europe for his latest record, we are both huge fans of his work and this record is about as radio friendly as it gets. It's a superb effort that will have wide appeal and we both feel flattered that Rick's Management have shown trust in our new label to get this record out…..Thank you Rick, we won't let you down mate."

When asked to comment, Rick Springfield sent me the following message: "Signing a deal in Europe (to Angelmilk) with this, the best CD of my career is something that is overdue. We have been touring in the US, Japan and Australia for the last 10 years and look forward to coming over to Europe and getting to know you all again. Love, RS."

Venus In Overdrive Track Listing: 1. What's Victoria's Secret? 2. I'll Miss That Someday 3. Venus In Overdrive 4. One Passenger 5. Oblivious 6. 3 Warning Shots 7. Time Stand Still 8. God Blinked (Swing It Sister) 9. Mr. PC 10. She 11. Nothing Is Ever Lost 12. Saint Sahara.

Angelmilk Records is very pleased to have been given approval by management to give fans an exclusive preview of a couple of tracks from the album in the form of three 1 minute MP3 teasers.
What's Victoria's Secret - Perfect power pop for the new millennium. Classic Rick Springfield from the opening note to the closing riff. Streamed in full at: www.rickspringfield.com.
I'll Miss That Someday - A stunning lead vocal with raw, emotional depth and a massive anthemic modern rock chorus.
3 Warning Shots - One of the darker and heavier album tracks. Simmering intensity before that big chorus.

In addition to these previews, Rick's MySpace site is streaming the single What's Victoria's Secret and the album title track Venus In Overdrive (Jesus Saves meets Rock Of Life!) in full. Click over to: MySpace to hear these songs in full.
US fans can purchase the single via iTunes and details of that are on Rick's website frontpage: www.rickspringfield.com.

The album is released in the USA July 29 (via Universal Music) and in Europe on Angelmilk the same week (August 1 is the official European date, but if all goes to plan, we will be able to match the USA release date.)

Angelmilk Records are equally pleased to announce the rest of our new artist roster for the months ahead -

The names Poley / Rivera should be very familiar to all. This special pairing of two very talented guys ensures the delivery of some classic melodic rock moments. The 'Poley' of course belongs to Ted Poley (vocalist for Danger Danger) and 'Rivera' belongs to Vic Rivera (guitarist for Adriangale/Crunch).
The duo teamed up in late 2005 for the album Collateral Damage which was released as a Ted Poley solo record by Kivel Records in 2006.
Now the guys finally get to do it again, under the Poley/Rivera moniker for the first time since previewing one of the demos from this album on the MelodicRock Volume 2 sampler in late 2006.
The album is named after that very track. Only Human is everything one expects from a Ted Poley release, with the added "crunch" of Vic Rivera, showcasing an extra special set of songs.

Says Ted Poley: "I am very excited and honored that Poley/Rivera has been chosen as one of the initial signings to Angelmilk! Vic and I are very proud of the new CD and happy that Andy and Andrew and their team will be handling it! I wish Angelmilk much success with all of its new signings and look forward to being part of a new adventure in melodic rock!"
Vic Rivera joins in: "Ted and I are absolutely thrilled to be working with Messrs. McNeice and Bramhall and Angelmilk Records for the release of this CD. We're very proud of the work we've done on this project and are honored that the classy label in Angelmilk has endeavored to bring this great bunch of songs to the melodic rock fans. It was a labor of love every step of the way, and to finally see it fully realized is a dream come true for us. Thanks, Andrew, Andy and Angelmilk! And a big thanks to all of our fans who make this possible!"

Track Listing for Poley/Rivera Only Human: 1. Keep On Fighting 2. Top Of The World 3. Only Human 4. Did We Just Have A Moment 5. Insanity 6. N.W.S 7. The Bigger They Come 8. Delirious 9. Fire At Will 10. Breathe Deep 11. Crossing The Ocean.

The release of Only Human is currently scheduled for September. Exact release details and further previews to follow very shortly.

Angelmilk promised new talent and we can't wait to unleash Swedish singer/songwriter Chris Antblad upon the world. Some may recognize the name - Chris was a big part of the songwriting and vocal talent behind the Spin Galley release Standing Tall, which came out on Atenzia Records in 2004.
That's just the start - Chris Antblad has spent the better part of his adult life as a musician and primarily as a songwriter. A mix of versatility and exceptional lyricism, has led to many interesting collaborations over the years. Primarily, the songwriting has been concentrated on adult oriented rock music and country. Two styles of music that both are reliant on advanced vocal-parts and arrangements. After a few years of songwriting, the necessity for good demos fostered a vocal ability that in later years led to more and more vocal work. Growing up outside the Swedish music scene, there was little to choose from, in terms of vocalists, and necessity once again turned out to be the mother of invention. He was forced to learn the art of singing, and after a couple of uncomfortable years, he found himself a decent singer. Combined with the experience as a session keyboard player, with a lot of jazz under the belt, and decent abilities on guitar and bass, the quality of the work started to reach a professional level.
The songwriting led to Nashville and collaborations with some of his heroes like John Bettis, Gary Baker, Eric Martin, Paul Carrack, Michael Jay, Joe Lynn Turner, John Capek, Randy Goodrum, Jay Graydon, Brett James and Wayne Kirkpatrick. His interest for AOR always lingered as a result of growing up in the 80-ies and has led to a long time collaboration with Joe Lynn Turner and a few noted appearances, one of which was the noted one-off Spin Gallery project.
After several years of writing and producing, it now feels like it is time to get back to the roots and do another album. Together with the label Angelmilk, Chris hopes to be able to indulge himself in the music he loves and at the same time "give back" to a music-genre that has nurtured his musicality over the years. Time to get back to basics, and time to roll up the sleeves and do a real album.
Says Chris of the upcoming debut solo album: "It will NOT be an encyclopedia of people that did this with everyone, a thousand times over, but rather my take on the music I love, in a very band oriented context. With the odd surprise in terms of mainly songwriting, that is the basis for all good albums. Maybe a duet, but nothing else...than a great band, the best songs I have right now, and a lot of spirit... My favorite album of all times is Reckless by Bryan Adams, and if I can get half-way there, then I will be pleased... and hopefully you guys will like it. I want to say that I'm doing this for the fans, but it's much too much fun and it's purely an egotistical endeavor...LOL"
And on signing to Angelmilk Records, Chris had this to say: "I like working with small labels, where everyone is in it for the right reasons. I have done records with all kinds of labels, including the majors, and if music is your priority, then a small one is more likely to get you what you want. The discussion I've had with Angelmilk, convinced me that we have the same mindset and attitude towards the creative process, and together we will do our best to get the best album possible, out there. Andrew approached me, and suggested a collaboration. His positive attitude and the fact that we have the same taste in music, convinced me that this would be a sound environment to do an album in. Emotionally, it's sort of like choosing someone to look after your kids...you can't just go with anyone."

Andrew McNeice: "As stated earlier - I can't wait to get this one out to fans. The quality of the songwriting and Chris' choice for a more AOR approach had me hooked from the start. Chris initially sent me one solo demo some 18 months ago and it is still stuck in my head after all this time - that was the basis for chasing him for Angelmilk. Plus he has one of those voices that just demands your attention."

Chris Antblad's solo debut album will be released under his name and is planned to be released before the end of this year - most likely in November. Stay tuned for further details.

R I C K S P R I N G F I E L D T R I B U T E

Working Class Dogs is a long overdue tribute to one hell of a songwriter and performer in Rick Springfield. It is very fitting that this album follows the release of a brand new Springfield studio release. While we soak up all the new tunes, we can also sit back and appreciate the past through the eyes of a great collection of artists who also appreciate what a great catalogue of music Rick Springfield has amassed over the years.
Working Class Dogs is the brain child of Shawn Lane and Fast Lane Records. Under Shawn's guidance, songs were recorded by the various artists over a period of time during 2007 and generally comprises of a group of modern rock influenced artists, updating those classic Springfield tunes into the spirit of today's rock music.
That 17 track tribute album will be released in the USA by Fast Lane in September/October.

Andrew McNeice: "After some discussion with Fast Lane, it was agreed that Angelmilk would license the album for European release. As soon as I heard it, I loved the vibe and the energy of the performances within and felt it needed as wide an audience as possible.
Having explored the idea of a Rick Springfield tribute album some years back, I had a few ideas of my own. So with a little investment on our part, the European Angelmlik Records version will feature 4 exclusive new tracks. At the same time there were a couple of songs on the US master that I felt were not as strong as the rest of the material, so those songs will be dropped to make way for the bonus content. The end result I think is an album that pays tribute to all facets of Rick's career and musically speaking mixes a little of more of the old-school style in with the already well-represented current sounds."

Some of the artists and songs to be featured on the album include: American Anthem - Jessie's Girl; The Meddling Kids - I've Done Everything For You; Gary Schutt - Carry Me Away; Failing Grace - I Get Excited; Tom Cinefro & The Rick Springfield Band - Kristina; 7th heaven - Affair Of The Heart; Keith LuBrant - Rock Of Life; Handsome Devil - Love Somebody; Clay Howard - Beautiful You.
Once again - full track listing and details to follow shortly. Angelmilk Records' version of Working Class Dogs will be released in Europe in September.

Details of the Angelmilk European Bonus Tracks -

1. Right Planet, Wrong World - This is one very special bonus track that I can't wait for people to hear. It infact, is a previously unreleased Rick Springfield track written by Rick with songwriter Jeff Silverman (Religion Of The Heart). Right Planet, Wrong World is an amazing melodic rock anthem that features a killer lead vocal performance from none other than James Christian (House Of Lords). The song was licensed for inclusion on this album thanks to the co-operation of Rick, Jeff and James and I think will quickly become a fan favorite.
2. Tear It All Down - The Rock Of Life anthem will be performed by guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Vinny Burns (Ten, Burns/Blue) and sung in full force by the awesome Mitch Malloy.
3. Human Touch - Again performed and updated a little by Vinny Burns, the vocalist will be confirmed very shortly.
4. Stranger - Another very special bonus track here. The Sahara Snow track is another gem and we will debut the talent of Hardway for this track, who will be joined by Chicago's own Thom Griffin (Trillion, Jim Peterik's World Stage) who will perform the lead and backing vocals for the song.

Soundbytes: Right Planet, Wrong World (James Christian vocals) / Carry Me Away (Gary Schutt) / Jessie's Girl (American Anthem).

H A R D W A Y

Hardway is a young band from Argentina, originally signed to the label a couple of years back on the strength of some demos submitted to label owner Andy Bramhall.
Hardway was formed in 2002 by brothers Charlie Giardina (29, bass/vocals) and Eduardo Giardina (25, drums). The band initially recorded two demos and started sending them to different record labels. In 2004 they were spotted by Carbon 13, a melodic rock label based in U.K. and with the addition of Guillermo De Medio (26) on keyboards the band travelled to Runcorn, Cheshire to lay down the tracks for its debut album.
They worked at MasterTone studios under the guidance of producer Pete Coleman (AC/DC, Paradise Lost, Echo And The Bunnymen, The Charlatans and many more). Due to some legal problems within the label the album failed to be released.
At this point the band decided to keep working on new material and headed out to look for a new label. And with the addition of guitarist Javier Viñas (37) and guest percussionist Emiliano Gimenez (21), Hardway recorded a new demo in 2006 and got a call from Angelmilk Records, and they proposed the band to work on a new album, this time with a refreshed sound. The band is currently finishing demos for the album due to be released by Angelmilk Records.
"Basically this will be an AOR album, but each of us has different influences and we intend to have that mixture in the final result", the band says.

Hardway is a band that will fit into this scene extremely well. Their musical abilities go beyond their years and AOR fans will be pleased to hear their sound has a distinct old-school Toto vibe to it. A release is planned for later this year.

I N F I N I T Y

A little of the new, a little of the old and a little of the previously unreleased! Yes, there are still some long lost gems sitting in vaults around the world and this is another fine example!
Infinity is a monster project that was recorded back in 1986/87 featuring AOR star vocalist Mitch Malloy and Red Dawn/Rainbow/Billy Joel keyboardist David Rosenthal. For one of the many reasons seen in the music industry, the record was never released at the time, but after 20+ years will finally see the light of day.
The 9 tracks that make up this lost classic are nothing short of blinding keyboard driven 80s melodic hard rock, with vocals that need to be heard to be believed!
The rest of the line-up consists of various session guys, including one very young Reb Beach (Whitesnake, Winger).
What's special about this release is the fact that the ninth track didn't really exist until last month. The song Liar was never completed back in 1986, but the song was recently resurrected from the original tape it was recorded on, repaired enough to become a true backing track, with Mitch Malloy adding a brand new lead vocal and drum track from his studio in Nashville.

Mitch Malloy comments: "Infinity was basically me and Dave and we used different guys to play on the tracks. It was 1986-87. I was a kid. So was Dave. I was singing in clubs in Jersey and making a name for myself and looking for a real band and he was looking for a singer. Rainbow had just broken up and he was wanting to be in his own band. I was sick of playing the clubs and looking to step up and it worked out. We had some fun and wrote some songs and never got signed so we both moved on to different things. It's exciting for us that this 22 year old music is finally going to be heard. We worked hard on it and were very proud of it. And for how old I was and for the time I am still very proud of it. It's really my first real recording sessions ever. Dave and I had a lot of laughs and a lot of fun and we worked very hard to make out music as good as we could possibly make it. And I think it shows."

Infinity will finally see the light of day in October. All of the tracks are exclusive to this release and have never been released before.
Track Listing: 1. Let It Go 2. Secrets 3. Christine 4. On The Edge 5. She's On Fire 6. I Can't Get Over You 7. Promise Of Love 8. Runnin' 9. Liar.

Vox Tempus signed to Angelmilk in 2007. The album In the Eye of Time is currently being remastered in the UK and will finally be released in October.
The album was originally an indie release a few years back, but deserves a better shot given the appreciation by many for good melodic progressive rock.
Keyboardist Eric Ragno comments: "We are excited about this new partnership, and look forward to seeing the album get the overseas exposure that it deserves. Be sure to visit out MySpace page at www.myspace.com/voxtempus to hear clips from the album.

Track Listing: For Every Life, Escape, Broken, Foreshadows, Revelations, What About, Voice of Time, Love, Lies & Treason and Steal the Moment.

Spanish AOR group Nexx may have since split, but there remains unfinished business with the band. They leave behind two great albums - Colours and Another Dawn.
Another Dawn was Angelmilk's first release in 2006 and the band's debut Colours was released on Now & Then Records back in 2003.
Another Dawn will be re-issued in its original form as well as a Spanish language version - same songs and track listing, but vocals from Patricia in the band's native tongue.
Colours will also be re-released at the same time - but in a new and improved format. Not only remastered, the album was also re-mixed and now sounds better than ever!
Details of these re-issues will be forthcoming, but a release of all three titles is expected in November.

xx

A closing word from Andy Bramhall: "I'd like to express my sincere thanks to Andrew for his never ending hard work and commitment he has shown Angelmilk in the short time he has been involved with me. We would never have had the signing's under the belt that we have without this man's involvement, he's put in regular 18 hour days for the business and I can only hope that we are all rewarded sometime in the future for the effort we are both putting in.
I'd also like to say that Angelmilk really is an alternative to what's already on offer, over the next 12 months we will be bringing you all some superb records from new and large established artists, we're here for the music first and foremost."

And in closing from myself - there are a couple more artists we will announce soon that are working on records for us that will help us kick off 2009 in fine style. I am also looking at digging out another couple of surprise "lost classics" and am working on huge comebacks for a few well known artists for brand new releases for 2009. Can't wait!
The new Angelmilk Records website will launch later next week with all of the above information added as well as some more audio previews.

Regular news update Monday. Due to ongoing sickness, there was not enough time to finish preparing today's regular MR-X update. There will be 2 MR-X updates next week - one Monday and the usual Friday update too.

Happy 4th Of July to all my American friends out there!

MEL GALLEY R.I.P:
Former Trapeze and Whitesnake guitarist Mel Galley died peacefully last night. He was diagnosed with cancer back in February, given only two weeks to live at the time. Mel continued to live his life to the full, and was apparently still popping to the pub up until a few weeks ago.
This from: www.expressandstar.com/2008/07/02/whitesnake-rocker-mel-galley-dies-aged-60
World famous Whitesnake guitarist Mel Galley has died of cancer. The 60-year-old musician from Cannock broke the news of his illness in February and pledged to spend the last months of his life saying goodbye to friends.
His illness came a month before the star was due to take to the stage again with a new band. He died at home in Heath Hayes last night after succumbing to cancer of the oesophagus. Earlier this year, he said: "It happens, but I've had a fantastic life. I have been very lucky. I have seen some great bands, and played with many great musicians. I am thankful that I can say a proper goodbye to all the friends I have made, who are now rallying round me."
Radio Two presenter Chris Evans was among those at Galley's 60th birthday celebration in March. Figures in the music industry today paid tribute to the musician, who made his name with Whitesnake, Trapeze and Finders Keepers.

AC/DC ARE BACK IN BLACK ICE:
Posted yesterday at: www.undercover.com.au/News-Story.aspx?id=5461
By Paul Cashmere / We will know next week what the title of the new AC/DC album will be but 'Black Ice' looks like a front-runner at the moment. AC/DC have three titles being considered for the album, another one being 'Runaway Train', Albert Music's Danny Keenan confirms for Undercover News. Keenan says that we should know in the next week what the band would officially decide on. Albert Music CEO Tim Prescott will head to New York for meetings over the AC/DC release next week.
Danny Keenan says he has heard half the album but did not hear a song called 'Black Ice'. If it is being used as a title track then it may have been one of the later tracks recorded for the album. 'Black Ice/Runaway Train/insert third title here' will be the 15th studio album from AC/DC and their first since 'Stiff Upper Lip' in 1998.
The album was recorded in Canada at Bryan Adams studio with Brendan O'Brien. Sony BMG says the album will be released this year. Keenan suggests we may hear the album as soon as October.

MORE ON ROCK THE BAYOU:
Mammoth “Rock The Bayou” Music Bash Unites Legends at 4-Day Texas Festival, featuring Sammy Hagar, Alice Cooper, Bret Michaels, Queensryche, Twisted Sister, Skid Row, Warrant, Ratt, Dokken, Great White & More
40+ Bands to Unite with Celebrated Rockers at Former Houston AstroWorld Site for Nation's Premier Labor Day Concert, August 29 - September 1, 2008
HOUSTON, July 2, 2008 – Some of rock's most legendary and notorious hair bands will join emerging stars for the massive Rock The Bayou music bash, featuring four days of music, food and family fun on the former grounds of Houston's AstroWorld theme park. The site is being transformed into a 100-acre festival playground for those who love to rock.
The Rock The Bayou festival features rock legends Sammy Hagar, Alice Cooper, Bret Michaels and his Rock of Love Tour, Queensryche, Twisted Sister, Skid Row, Great White, Ratt, Dokken, Warrant (with its original lineup), Yngwie Malmsteen, Slaughter, Y&T, Dangerous Toys, Little Caesar, Jetboy, Bullet Boys with Steven Adler, Lynch Mob, Britny Fox, Pretty Boy Floyd, Enuff Z'Nuff, Black 'n Blue, Gilby Clarke, Firehouse and Broken Teeth. All told, more than 40 bands will play two stages over four days.
One of the most affordable summer music bashes in the country, Rock The Bayou offers a $99 single admission, early-bird ticket for all four days of the music festival. Active U.S. military (with ID) will be admitted for half-price. For tickets and information, charge by phone at (713) 629-4747, or visit RockTheBayou.com or OnlineTickets.com – the festival's exclusive ticket seller.
Buzz-generating Lineup: Rock The Bayou intends to be one of the nation's largest and most accessible summer concert fests, says Ali Fazeli, president of The Fazeli Group, which is promoting and producing the event. Some 50,000 people a day are expected to attend. Festival wristbands will allow people to come and go as they wish. “We've got an unbelievable lineup that celebrates rock's top legendary artists,” Fazeli explains. “We've designed an event with a family flavor and the most affordable ticket price of the large summer music festivals.”
Plus, $1 from every Rock The Bayou ticket purchased will go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Lone Star Chapter, says Fazeli.
Homegrown Labor Day Vacation Alternative: With climbing gas prices putting the chill on Labor Day getaways, Rock The Bayou offers Texans a close-to-home alternative. “Rock The Bayou gives them a unique 'stay-cation' option – a chance to celebrate the end of summer without breaking the bank,” explains Fazeli.
For family fun, a Ferris wheel is being brought in, along with a towering drive-in like screen that will play movies after nightly band performances. A second stage will feature Texas bands for continuous music. Rock The Bayou will also offer a VIP area, parking, safe campgrounds and RV facilities.
For Fazeli, the long days and nights putting together a legendary rock lineup has been energizing. The self-professed workaholic is also a big music fan. “We're thrilled to have such a great group of performers at one, huge festival for the first time in Houston,” he says. “This kind of event has been long overdue for such a diverse and acclaimed city.” For tickets and information, visit RockTheBayou.com or OnlineTickets.com. To charge by phone, call (713) 629-4747.

BAD COMPANY TO PLAY ONE OFF GIG FOR DVD:
Bad Company fans have a new date to pencil into diaries. This from Billboard.com -
The '70s rock troupe plans to reunite for a one-off show on Aug. 8 at the Seminole Hard Rock & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., the group's first performance since a 1999 reunion tour. And although frontman Paul Rodgers tells Billboard.com that "it'll be great to see the guys and play and go back down that road again just for one night," there's also a business component to the gig.
"What I'm doing is protecting the legacy that we have built ... cementing the rights to the trademark Bad Company for touring," explains Rodgers, acknowledging that the group has learned of plans for at least one bogus Bad Company planning to hit the road. "I can't really go into that because it's kind of in the hands of our lawyers at the moment. But there are a lot of things that make it necessary to reinforce our rights here." He continues, "By doing this one-night stand with Bad Company, we will be cementing our right to the trademark 'Bad Company' for touring, and anyone who attempts to challenge us and tour misusing our trademark and mislead the fans will be liable to legal action."
Rodgers will be joined in August by original Bad Company guitarist Mick Ralphs and drummer Simon Kirke, who continued the group with other singers after Rodgers left in 1982. Lynn Sorenson from Rodgers' solo band will take the place of late bassist Boz Burrell, who died in 2006.
The show will be dedicated to the memory of Steve Weiss, the longtime attorney for Bad Company, Led Zeppelin and Swan Song Records, who passed away last week in Florida. It will also be recorded for a DVD that will accompany a Bad Company compilation expected out later this year. "I think it should be pure Bad Company and nothing else," Rodgers says of the show's repertoire. "We're gonna dig into the catalog a little bit. There are some great songs there I'd like to revisit, like 'Simple Man,' and of course the favorites, too," such as "Can't Get Enough," "Bad Company," "Feel Like Makin' Love" and "Rock'N'Roll Fantasy."
Rodgers does not expect to do more with Bad Company after this show, however, owing to his solo career and to his involvement with Queen + Paul Rodgers, which is working on final mixes for a studio album, tentatively titled The Cosmos Rocks and due out this fall.
The group will start a world tour in September in Europe, and it recently previewed a new track, C-lebrity, on British TV. "We're in great shape, actually," Rodgers says. "I think it touches a lot of emotions. Every song is different from every other song, but I do think there is a very powerful emotional content in every song. I'm a great believer in variety in music, and so are the other guys."

DON DOKKEN COMES CLEAN:
The following message has been posted by Don Dokken on his official website, www.dondokken.net:
"Hi everybody, it's been an interesting couple of weeks since LSA came out, we entered the billboard hard rock charts at #18, #1 on cd universe and #80 on ITunes. All I can say is thanks, you are the ones that made it happen. We leave this week for our summer tour with Poison. I'm looking forward to it and hoping to sing the best I have in a while. I recently had surgery on my sinuses, I've had problems with my voice for a long time and it was driving me nuts, the smoking didn't help either it turns out I've had a sinus disease for years, and NO it wasn't from doing blow! So now it's as good as its gonna get especially at my age, hah!
It took almost 3 years to finish LSA.. Mostly because the producer was wasted all the time and guess what? I'm the producer! So that's why I recently spent some time hanging out with Stevo from" jackass" at Las Encinas hospital. He's a very cool guy, I left just in time for my friend Steven Tyler to have my room, seems its getting really popular there. Steven has been the poster child for living a clean life for so long, I was shocked to hear he was coming my way, it is so true that addiction is a life long struggle.
So by now I think you've figured out what I was doing there, the QueensRyche tour was a wakeup call, we were all on the same bus and they got really worried about me, I was a mess, let's just say 17 years was enough , and think of the money I'll now be saving LOL.
So since I was wandering around in my bathrobe for a month looking and feeling like a homeless person, counseling with Dr Drew and 10 other Docs I figured I might as well quite drinking at the same. Rehab was scary and painful but worth it. I don't recommend trying to get clean on your own if you have a serious drug problem. My problem was….. I didn't think I had a problem, I was wrong.
So here I go with a clear mind, repaired vocal chords and some great new songs to sing from LSA. I hope everyone comes to at least one show, or 2 or 30. We will be adding some headlining shows in between the Poison shows, so check for the dates here, so that's it for now, enjoy your summer, and if you see me drinking on stage it's just ice tea, honest!
Keep Rokken, DD"

MOTLEY CRUE ADD TO JOYS OF 2008:
NEW YORK, NY With an impressive first week, legendary rock band Mötley Crüe earned themselves an impressive top 5 debut, their highest since 1997's "Generation Swine" on the Billboard chart with "Saints of Los Angeles," their first new album featuring the original lineup in over a decade. The album, inspired by their NY Times best-selling book "The Dirt" is an example of how forward thinking, integrated marketing and an acclaimed CD can support sales in a lagging music industry. The single, "Saints of Los Angeles," which remains a top ten rock track was released simultaneously via the video game Rock Band (a Crüe Fest partner) and to traditional retailers and sold over five times the number of downloads on Rock Band as it did on iTunes in its first week. The band has also pioneered digital initiatives including online pre-sales (they were one of the first bands to sell tickets online); simulcasting their press conference on www.therockvine.com and offering fans exclusive content on their website, www.motley.com for years.
Plans include continued digital initiatives and special ring tone availability. "Saints of Los Angeles" features Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, Tommy Lee and Vince Neil and is their ninth studio album in a 27 year career which has seen the most notorious band in rock & roll sell over 80 million albums worldwide so far.
The oft-imitated rockers were also very visible in the past week appearing on "The Late Show with David Letterman," on a classic episode of "Larry King Live" (Larry plays with the band), On The Record with Greta Van Susteren, and in a special tribute celebrating their career in the June 21st issue of Billboard magazine. In pure Mötley form, the band arrived at David Letterman's show in a Presidential Procession as a troop of bikers led their 1960's Cadillac convertible complete with skull and cross-bones flags waving through the streets of New York City to celebrate the release of the new CD.
"With a full dose of hammering sleaze-rock, 'Saints' could be ripped straight off the 'Dr. Feelgood' prescription pad," -- USA Today
Allen Kovac, CEO and Founder of Eleven Seven Music says, "With Buckcherry, Mötley Crüe and Sixx:A.M. we are seeing a seismic shift from hip-hop, pop and emo to rock. There is no one more worthy of leading its return than an iconic band like Mötley Crüe." Eleven Seven Music is one of North America's fastest growing labels.
Listeners were also offered a "sneak peek" through Clear Channel radio where they made the preview of the new CD on the websites of the national radio conglomerate's many stations, the second most popular in the history of the program. "We were thrilled to partner with Mötley Crüe to offer our listeners a chance to hear their new music on our sites before it was available anywhere else. The partnership will live on as Crüe Fest winds its way across America and our stations tie in great local promotions to this online initiative," said Paul Miraldi, SVP Programming & Marketing, Clear Channel Online Music & Radio.
"The Crüe is back... and they're grimier than ever. The trip down memory lane helps the Crüe connect to their old sound: Much of 'Saints' [of Los Angeles] rocks with the same raucous fun as their Eighties albums, delivering glam guitars and arena-size choruses on cuts like the wickedly catchy 'Down at the Whisky.'" -- Rolling Stone
Nikki Sixx recently told Reuters, "We're trying to get them (MTV Films and Paramount) out of the way to make this movie that should have been made a long time ago. They are not the right partner." "Isn't it a shame that the soundtrack and book are at the top the charts and even when a guy like David Fincher wants to make the film, they still can't figure out how to make it happen? There's been a revolving door of executives hired and fired. The fans want the film. Van Toffler should worry less about his manicures and facials and more about artists and directors. For the benefit of the creative community, MTV Films should be dismantled. All of the fans who keep asking for the film should email Sumner Redstone and let him know how to get this movie made while we have the soundtrack to the book all over the streets, airwaves and charts -- it's just stupid," comments Sixx.
The CD is released on Mötley Records/Eleven Seven Music, returning control to the band who also received the rights to all of their master recordings.
For more information on Mötley Crüe please visit www.motley.com and www.myspace.com/motleycrue.

First of all thanks to everyone who's bought their tickets already, it's a big help and the early sales go a long way to ensuring that we can give you the best show we can. At this stage we've already sold around 50% of the tickets available for each day. Tickets are available directly from us at www.thefirefest.com and are also now available through Rock City at www.rock-city.co.uk or from www.alt-tickets.co.uk
Hotels: We can't stress enough how important it is to get your hotel bookings in as soon as possible. Bryan Adams is playing in Nottingham on the same weekend so please note that hotel rooms are at a premium and it is advisable to book your rooms NOW if you intend to stay over for the whole Firefest weekend.

Friday Oct 24TH: As many people will already be in Nottingham on Friday evening we have decided to have a little get together. We're having a very informal meet and greet in Rock City - downstairs in the room on the right opposite The Rig. Almost all of the bands appearing who will actually be in the country at the time (Tyketto, Pink Cream 69, Paul Laine, Danger Danger, Loud and Clear, Talon, Mitch Malloy - plus anyone else that can make it) will be in attendance, so it's a great opportunity to bring along some stuff to get signed, take a photo or two and buy the Firefest crew a beer ...ha ha!!
Due to the small size of the room we'll have to limit this to 100 people only, so starting from when you read this the first 100 people to email us will get themselves a free pass. Please note that applications are limited to 2 per person and we need your name and address. We'll have some nice background music and a few band members have mentioned that they might bring guitars, so you never know what might happen! So if you have nothing to do between 8.30 and 10.30pm on Friday Oct 24..... now you have! Please also note the email address for applications is firefest@hotmail.com and you must state Meet & Greet in the subject line...remember, it's 100 people only and it's strictly on a first come-first served basis.

Firefest DVD's: The Valentine DVD has been completed and it's a limited edition of 1000 copies worldwide. This is a DVD/CD Collectors Edition and no single disc version will be made available. It contains the full set from last year's Firefest and also has a bonus of the only other Valentine/Open Skyz live footage ever filmed. Open Skyz 'Live at The Mirage' was recorded in Minneapolis in March 1994 when the band supported Mr Big, and contains one previously unrecorded track called 'Soul Salvation'. It was shot on the in-house recording system and is a very high quality bootleg.
A preview of the DVD is available here… (.mp4 file)
Pre-orders will be accepted from July 2nd, please allow 28 days for delivery. There will be 500 copies each in PAL and NTSC formats.

The FM DVD is also finished and a preview clip will be available very shortly. Once again it's a limited Collectors Edition of 1500 copies worldwide. INTRODUCING PLANETHARD:
Artist Service is proud to announce a second release in July 2008. We are very proud to announce the signing of Italian hard rock band Planethard.
Planethard Crashed On Planet Hard – release: 11.07.2008 (Artist Service / MBM) Planethard is a hard rock band consisting of Marco Sivo (vocals), Marco “Dandy” D'Andrea (guitars), Alex Furia (bass) and Steve Arrigoni (drums).
The band started its career in 2004 as a tribute band, playing songs of their idols such as Bon Jovi, Skid Row, Mötley Crüe, Whitesnake etc. A few months later the band decided to step into writing own songs which they presented to the Italian audience during numerous live shows the last years. The first CD, called “So Good!” was recorded at Twilight Studio in Milan and instantly received good feedback from the media and fans alike.
From 2005 to 2007 Planethard were successful in securing support slots for leaders of the genre such as GOTTHARD during their Italian tour (they even did a jam session with Marc Lyn and Leo Leoni) as well as Motörhead and Labyrinth at the Venice Rock Festival.
In December 2006, the band was invited by Tommy Heart (Fair Warning) to support him during his Italian tour. In January 2007, Planethard had the opportunity to open for Europe in Milan which was a great success for the band.
In June 2007 Planethard were opener for the most famous rock event in Italy, "Gods Of Metal 2007", featuring Velvet Revolver, Mötley Crüe, Scorpions, White Lion and Thin Lizzy.
In March 2006, Planethard started the recordings for “Crashed on Planet Hard”. Ten hard rocking and melodic tracks showing the musicians´ ability to write catchy hooks and choruses, incorporating their own style and vision of still classic but also modern sounding hard rock music. Anybody who loves classic hard rock will surely be pleased with “Crashed On Planet Hard” as it represents the continuation of a musical style still being appreciated by many rock fans out there.
Crashed On Planet Hard was produced by Alessandro Del Vecchio, singer of Moonstone Project and Edge Of Forever, who also handled all keyboard and piano duties.

For more information, visit the band's Web site at www.speedwagon.com.

And following that - a message from Kevin Cronin: "Have you guys heard about our ESPN Battle of Bands...my last battle of bands was at my high school in 1968, and as legend has it, our opponent, (who will remain nameless, but they may have been an early incarnation of Styx), beat us by utilizing some questionable ballot collection tactics. I have carried that loss with me for many years, but you can help vindicate the embarrassing loss by going to espn.com, and casting your vote for us. Again, go to espn.com, keyword: take me out, and vote for our rocking version of the classic, "Take Me Out To The Ball Game". I'm not sure what we get if we win...um, probably a hot dog or something, but it is fun, and we do appreciate your support. Play Ball, KC.

CLOUDSCAPE'S NEW GLOBAL DRAMA:
Swedish melodic metallers Cloudscape is back with a new stunning album entitled Global Drama to be released in August 2008 through Golden Core / Roastinghouse Records (EU) and Nightmare Records (U.S). After doing several live shows at festivals like “Sweden Rock Festival”, “Progpower UK etc” and with a new recordlabel to back them up (Golden Core / Roastinghouse Records) Cloudscape is back full force with “Global Drama” and is already confirmed for several festivals and shows such as “Bloodstock Open Air (UK)”, Progpower Scandinavia (DK)” etc to promote Global Drama live in 2008 and 2009. NEWS FROM ALYSON AVENUE:
News from Alyson Avenue. Says Niclas: "I just wanted to inform about the re-recorded Omega album with some bonus. It's in the final stage of mixing and will hopefully be released sometime this year. Anette Olzon´s vocal is nearly everything that's left of the old recordings. 6 bonus tracks will be included. Janne Stark and Michael Bormann have been kind enough to help us out with their parts. Thanks for true musical friends. Patrik Svärd,Thomas Bursell and Christofer Dahlman are also added.
There are also more to those who are interested. We have decided to once again raise and make a whole new melodic album, but of course, without Anette who has other duties. Therefore we are searching for a new female vocalist with good range and power. Every female who is interested in female fronted melodic rock and feel you can sing a whole lot, please contact us at alysonavenue@hotmail.com or oniclas@hotmail.com
The best thing would be if you live in Sweden or Denmark. But...The voice is the most important!
