JOHN KILZER Dies Suddenly, Aged 62

Artist:
Categories:
We’ve lost another one. R.I.P Memphis guitarist/songwriting legend JOHN KILZER.

This is very sad news – he was a unique guitarist and songwriter and had a killer bluesy voice.
Folks here will know him best for the brilliant ‘Memory In The Making’ album and its sequel ‘Busman’s Holiday’.

John had only recently released a brand-new record ‘Scars’.

A very fine musical legacy has been left behind for us all to continue to enjoy.

From Billboard.com:

“John Kilzer, a singer and songwriter from Tennessee whose music career spanned 30 years and who became a pastor after undergoing drug recovery, has died. He was 62.

Kilzer’s death was disclosed Tuesday by St. John’s United Methodist Church in Memphis, where he served as an associate pastor for recovery ministries. A cause of death was not disclosed. The church said in a statement that it was a sudden death.

According to biographies on websites for the church and Archer Records, the Jackson, Tennessee-native recorded two albums under the Geffen label, “Memory in the Making” in 1988 and “Busman’s Holiday” in 1991. Roseanne Cash, Trace Adkins and Maria Muldaur recorded his songs.

John Kilzer and the Scars were scheduled to play at the Beale Street Music Festival in May.”

We’re talking about JADED PAST. And the new album ‘Believe’ will be released via MelodicRock Records on August 19.

Here is another full length preview from the album - check out the killer tune 'Dont Judge':

This is the second album for the band, with the debut released independently in 2012. Jaded Past is the creation of lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter George Becker.
George has been a long time veteran of the East Coast music scene and has shared the stage with numerous national acts.

George has been in the studio, working tirelessly with producer Steve Brown (Trixter, 40ft Ringo), who also contributes some guitars and backing vocals for this release.
The result is a genuinely warm and engaging record that takes a guitar driven American rock sound and mixes in some Midwestern John Mellencamp styled high energy rock-n-country.

Following the release of the CD, Jaded Past will embark on a number of live performances beginning with a headlining show at the Jersey shore on August 13, 2016.

Then in the late fall, Becker will take Jaded Past on the road in support of the new CD release in areas spanning the East Coast, New England, Midwest, Southern Region and possibly The West Coast. For the 2016 live shows, Becker has enlisted the amazing line-up of Scott LaFlamme on lead guitar, Jason Cornwell on bass and Rob LaFlamme on drums.

A full 2016 concert schedule can be viewed at www.jadedpast.com.

George Becker also plays an array of Acoustic Solo and Duo shows all over the New Jersey / New York and Pennsylvania area and in 2016 will be branching out into Connecticut, Rhode Island and Maryland. These dates can also be found on the Jaded Past website.

Produced, Recorded, Mixed and Mastered at Mojo Vegas Studios in Ringwood, NJ by Steve Brown.
