MITCH MALLOY 'Making Noise' on New Solo Album

Artist:

MITCH MALLOY ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF NEW SINGLE, MY THERAPY

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 17, 2016) – Rocker Mitch Malloy announces the release of his latest single and video, My Therapy, off the forthcoming full-length CD MAKING NOISE. This recording marks the first time Malloy has undertaken an album solely by himself from start to finish – songwriting, producing, instruments, mixing and mastering. “I have always brought in a few musicians or songwriters to work with me on projects in the past and have really enjoyed what they brought to the table. But this time, I was in a different place and really needed to work through everything musically by myself…thus, My Therapy!” said Malloy tongue-in-cheek.

Mitch has been busy this past year not only writing and producing his own album but also writing and producing projects for clients in his studio, Malloy Master Tracks. Mitch states, “I love working with young artists and passing the torch to a new generation of rockers.” Malloy Master Tracks is a full-service production facility that serves a variety of clients from hit acts and labels like Taylor Swift, Boys Like Girls, Kenny Loggins, Craig Morgan and Sony Music NY to singer/songwriters Victoria Show, Gary Burr and Billy Falcon and even voice over work for Outdoor Channel, Field & Stream and various other brands.

Malloy’s tenure as an artist has spanned several decades beginning as a regular on the New York music scene in the 80s. Mitch soon garnered a major recording deal with RCA/BMG Worldwide and achieved chart success and landed a coveted spot on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In the mid-90s Mitch was asked to replace Sammy Hagar as lead singer for Van Halen but after spending time and recording with the band he declined. “When the band appeared on the MTV Music Awards with Dave [David Lee Roth], the fans expected his return…I expected his return. I felt as cool as the opportunity was, it just wasn’t the right time,” said Malloy.

Mitch Malloy is scheduled to embark on the international MAKING NOISE tour beginning in August 2016 with tour stops including the world famous Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles, Nashville, London, Liverpool, Athens, Madrid, Malmo and Oslo, to name a few.

Australian Rockers KAATO Announce Debut Release

Artist:

KAATO, independent rock band fronted and founded by Australian rocker Kurt Lowney have just released their debut self-titled album, produced by rock industry veteran Mitch Malloy.

KAATO came together in 2015 as Lowney began working with Nashville-based Malloy to write and record the self-titled KAATO album. "From day one, the musical chemistry between Kurt and me was undeniable.” says Malloy. Both were deeply rooted in the same musical influences.

Kurt has harbored the dream of KAATO since he was a 16-year-old recording in post-earthquake Japan in 2011. The Japanese called him Kaato (pronounced Kah-toe), meaning Kurt. It was during this time KAATO became Kurt's performance persona and stage name.

Kurt and Mitch began recording the KAATO album in Nashville at Mitch’s studio, Malloy Master Tracks along with Kurt’s longtime friend and bass player, Mika Nuutinan, and Mitch’s former bandmate and guitar virtuoso Tristan Avakian (Queen Extravaganza, Red Dawn, Malloy). The marriage of the four band members not only created dynamic, melodically charged music but also a compelling, not to be missed live show. When KAATO takes the stage all eyes and ears are held captive by the infectious music and dynamic performance.

The KAATO album launches with the first single, High Time, a fast-paced party song. The video gives an insight into the vintage live appeal of the band and its high energy show. While a complimentary hat tip to the original founders and influencers of rock, KAATO definitely brings its own fresh sound to the rock scene. Start to finish, "Our music is loud, it's fast, it's rude, it's rock and roll...it doesn't care. It's a mixture of Aerosmith, Boston, Styx and Zeppelin, and all the stuff that just makes you want to get up and dance.” says Lowney.

KAATO is scheduled to embark on a US and European tour beginning in July 2016 with tour stops including the world famous Whisky A Go Go in LA, Nashville, London, Liverpool, Athens, Madrid and Oslo, to name a few.

KAATO Track Listing (all songs penned by Lowney/Malloy):

1. SDRR
2. Only A Day Away
3. Time Stands Still
4. It’s All Happening Now
5. You Lose
6. Like A Blade
7. Guilty Go Free
8. I Don’t Love You
9. Colder
10. Clean As A Whistle
11. High Time

MITCH MALLOY Uploads VAN HALEN Track To His YouTube Channel

Artist:

Vocalist MITCH MALLOY has uploaded the song he co-wrote and recorded with VAN  HALEN during his stay at 5150 studios in the mid-90s. Mitch was lined up to replace SAMMY HAGAR, but was dumped for the controversial GARY CHERONE.

Mitch has previously talked to MelodicRock.com about his experience. You can see that below.

But right now - why not check out the song It's The Right Time:

From an interview in 2000 with MR.com:

Another very interesting thing happened while you were out of the limelight so to speak. The great Van Halen experience!!
How did you and Eddie Van Halen hook up?
A guy who worked for their management at the time used to be my road manager and he kept calling me and telling me they were going to fire Sammy and that I was going to be the next singer in Van Halen and he was calling and calling and finally I got annoyed by this and told him to stop and that I didn't think I was a good fit in VH and that if he was serious he should have Ed call me.
A week later Desmond Child calls me and says he has just left Ed's house and was writing with them and that they were talking about me and that they were watching my "Anything At All" video, and that he told them that I was perfect for them, and that they would be lucky to get me, and before I knew it, I was on a plane to LA. Ed did call, a bunch of times. He was great.

Things went so well, you actually recorded a demo with the guys - live in the studio. For the record! What tracks did you jam on?
Yes, it was Panama, Ain't Talking 'bout Love, Why Can't This Be Love, Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do), Jump and It’s The Right Time.

And what were you thinking while this was going on? Total disbelief?!!
LOL, it was very surreal. It was pretty cool. Valerie was very nice to me and Wolfy and I had a great connection. He just took to me right away. Ed was very taken with that as I recall, he told me I must be the guy cause his son loved me. It was cool. It was very nice. Ed is really a great guy, and so is Al and Mike. Ed was treating me like I was his best friend, his little brother. He still does most of the time. I miss him at the moment.
I have not talked to him in a while. I hope he is okay. He was very encouraging on this new record. I sent him You Lift Me, It's About Love, and Draw The Line and he called me while he was still listening to it and was very very excited and saying things that I couldn't believe. I can't really repeat them here without sounding like a total egotistic ass, so I will just say, he was very flattering.
I hung up and yelled at the top of my voice. That felt way better than when he told me I was in the band. I felt like he accepted me as a peer when he like my music.

I suppose I should tell of the moment when he told me I was in the band..... On the 3rd day I was there, I got a call as I was staying in Ed's guest house. They told me they wanted me to be in the studio control room in 15 minutes.
I went up and sat there and waited, And a few minutes later, Ed walks in stops and says, "well, you are an amazing singer, you look great and you are one of the nicest guys I have ever met, we just talked it over and congratulations, you are in the band." he walks up to me, I stand up and he kisses me on both cheeks gives me a hug and turns and walks out of the room. I sit back down at the mixing board and say out loud, "I am in Van Halen, shit, now what"? I think I giggled a little in disbelief. It was a very strange moment.

So the unanimous verdict on Ray Danniels as a manager is shit to say the least, were you another victim of his control over the band at this stage?
Well, I am not positive as to what happened there, but Ray told me at first that no matter what happened, he wanted to manage me.
I already had a manager though. And he told me he wanted me in the band. I think it's best I reserve comment any further on that one.
I actually wrote Ray a letter, passing on the gig. It just didn't feel right to me at the time, what with all the MTV thing with Dave and all that.
They never told me they were doing that with Dave, and as far as I knew, I was pretty much in the band at that time. I knew they were going to audition Gary, but they told me they didn't really want to, cause they wanted me. And then I see them walk out on stage with Dave, I called Mike and told him that I thought it was a mistake and that they had just made it nearly impossible for ANY singer to come in and be successful cause now EVERYONE thought Dave was back.
I never heard back from them, and while I was waiting, I sat down and wrote a letter and had my manager send it up to Ray saying, thanks for the shot, but I am going to have to pass.
It wasn't an easy thing to do. I heard from Ed a few weeks later. I met Gary over the phone that day as well. Gary is a super nice guy. A real class act. I am very impressed with him as a person and would think he would be a very good friend to have.
We are not friends, I am just saying, there are not that many people you meet in life that are as gracious as Gary Cherone.

You did keep in contact with Eddie for a long while after this, but he wasn't happy at all with you when you recommended something to him was he....can you tell us what you said about what he needed to do for a vocalist?
Ed actually asked me what I thought, and I told him.......DAVE!
You need to get Dave back, and he raised his voice saying, "You know what happened and how he was such an ass and what he said to me and did to me, and you know how hard it was to get him to sing in the studio", and I said, but Ed, you had Dave singing Desmond Child songs.
Dave isn't that type of singer, you had him singing melodies he can't sing, and what you need to do is just let Dave be Dave. And then he got even louder and said that he wrote all those songs/melodies, and that Dave just wrote the lyrics and sang them. That's when I shut up. I love Ed, he has been like a big brother to me in a lot of ways. Who am I to upset him. But he did ask. And whatever happened with the Ed / Dave chemistry worked, and I just think that it will always work.
Even if Ed did write all the melodies, obviously they have the same vocal range and they are connected with that. It WORKS! At least it worked. I have never met Dave, but he doesn't seem THAT bad to me. I don't know, I just love Ed and I want what is best for him. If he doesn't want to work with Dave, then he shouldn't work with Dave. I mean, you wouldn't wish for your friend to be unhappy just because it will please the fans. Life is too short for that.
But he did ask, and I did say Dave. I guess at the end of the day, music isn't everything. And those guys have already given us a LOT of great music to listen to. Maybe that is enough?

How do you think Van Halen with Mitch Malloy as lead vocalist would have sounded?
Well, that's easy, all I have to do is go put in the tape and listen to it. :)
It sounds just like Van Halen with me singing. I had Asked Al on the first play back in the studio. I said, "what do you think?" "Does it sound strange hearing my voice over your music?", and he looked me right in the eye and said, "no, not at all, it sounds great"!

Everyone has opinions on the job Gary Cherone did as singer #3, what do you think alienated the fans so much?
The MTV thing. I just don't think the fans could get past that. I do think though that if they had had a hit like they did with Sammy that they would have had an easier time of it.

MELODICROCKFEST 4 - Start & Set Times Updated - Mecca Withdraw

Here are all the set times for MelodicRockFest 4 - now just UNDER TWO WEEKS AWAY!!!

Tickets avalable now for just $20/day - www.melodicrockfest.com
Tickets purchased now will be held at the venue for collection or buy at the door on the days.

There has unfortunately been one last forced change to the lineup, with Mecca & Kevin Chalfant forced to withdraw.

After a long series of conversations with my great buddy, Mecca's Joe Vana, he confirms the news:
Joe: "After my surgery three weeks ago I noticed the horse voice I had was not getting better....after consulting two different specialist they determined this can be normal when intubated...and could do long term damage to my chords if I push it too early...so after discussing it intently with Andrew we decided it was best if I cancel our appearance at MRF4....

I have been heavily involved with Andrew on a bunch of different fronts helping him prepare for MRF4, and will continue....I just unfortunately cannot perform...my one gig a year and I can't do it....not happy and disappointed doesn't even do justice to how I feel...."

Mecca in my mind is irreplaceable but after careful consideration, there is one young hot band that can at least step in at the last minute and I think very much impress folks.
That band is Eighty Six Happiness - featuring Joey Vana, son of Joe and part of MRF3's Mecca lineup.
These guys are going to join the Melodicrock Records family, and I believe in their material and ability 100%, so please show them some love.

STATE OF SALAZAR - All The Way (Showcase)

information persons:
All The Way
Produced By:
State Of Salazar
Running Time:
47
Release Date:
August 22
Released:
Worldwide
Genre:
Melodic Rock
When State of Salazar released their debut EP ”Lost my Way” in the summer of 2012, it spread fast in magazines and blogs and created a flood of praise. The Swedish quintet has received many positive reviews from all over the world during a very short period.

“This is something that can grow really big.” “...State Of Salazar will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the genre.” “…this EP is an extremely polished piece of art...” “The performances and the production are superb…” etc. With bands such as Toto, Queen, Journey, Survivor and especially Bill Conti and Vince DiCola in their influences list, State of Salazar have indeed a lot to prove. They handle all this pressure with their honor intact and their heads held high.

State of Salazar started in 2010 by five students from the Malmö Academy of Music who wanted to play rock music made for the big arenas, and they have now started their journey towards the big crowds. The singer and songwriter, Marcus Nygren, began thinking of the concept of having a band like State of Salazar in 2009 when he wrote a couple of songs that did not fit his metal based band 8-Point Rose. “To find great musicians at the Academy was no problem,” Marcus says in one of the many interviews he has done lately, and all members of State of Salazar have a passion for West Coast, AOR and similar genres.

State of Salazar is just as much a group of good friends as it is a quintet with great musicians. All members – Marcus Nygren, vocals, Johan Thuresson, guitars, Johannes Hansson, bass, Kristian Brun, drums and Stefan Mårtenson, keyboards – are frequently hired in various events of different character. For instance Johan Thuresson plays in the progressive pop band The Million, Kristian Brun plays ska with Scaramanga and they have all appeared in several studio- and live-sessions in the past. In other words, State of Salazar know what they are doing.

There is no mistaking that the band delivers “feel good” music, and it is no wonder, since one of the biggest influences is “training montage” music. This is just one of many reasons why State of Salazar actually stands out from many of the other bands in the same genre. State of Salazar is not a retro band, or a walk down memory lane. They write songs and play music that strives forward and not backwards. Their songwriting, arranging and instrumental performance show that this is a band that wants to develop and give its contribution to the melodic rock genre.
