ROCK CANDY Debut New Magazine

Artist:

ROCK CANDY RECORDS is proud to launch ROCK CANDY MAGAZINE, a new magnificent bi-monthly physical publication, with a digital magazine add-on. Yes, it’s printed on real paper! And yes, it’s aimed at the discerning Rock Candy customer who wants to wallow in nostalgia and relive the glory days of classic rock. Unashamedly "old school", it's written by the writers who were there at the time.

100 pages of the purest classic rock from the '70s and '80s, with no room for punk, new wave, skinny tie pop or post-industrial claptrap! And it’s all treated with respect and illustrated with the finest photography of the era.

Produced to the same exacting standards as every Rock Candy Records release, overseen by Master Of Mayhem Derek Oliver and edited by Howard Johnson, Issue 1 features contributions by many of the great rock journalists from the glory days of Kerrang! and Metal Hammer, including Malcolm Dome, Paul Suter, Paul Elliott, Philip Wilding, Dave Reynolds, Jerry Ewing, Xavier Russell and Steffan Chirazi.

Inside the debut issue you'll find features on:

Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott on the stories behind 20 of his fave Leppard photos.

The making of Rush’s prog masterpiece ‘Hemispheres’.

Warrant’s doomed vocalist Jamie Lane - a tale of tragic loss and unfulfilled promise.

Whatever happened to Kerrang!’s Ladykillers?

Girl, the influential glam band that time forgot.

The darkest days of Saxon before they bounced back.

Mercurial meetings with Ritchie Blackmore.

Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci’s memories of his first ever gig.

An in-depth reappraisal of Aerosmith’s seminal ‘Rocks’ album.

The amazing story of Kiss manager and marketing genius Bill Aucoin – by those who knew him.

Oh, and a massive eight page feature on Krokus. Yes, eight pages of Swiss bad-boy mayhem!

Rock Candy Magazine isn’t available in the shops. You can only get it through our brand new website at www.rockcandymag.com

http://www.mixcloud.com/richdav1/rich-davenports-rock-show-biff-byford-saxonnight-ranger-rage-area-11-interviews/

In the first hour of the show, Saxon frontman Biff Byford spills the beans on the band's forthcoming UK tour, choosing tracks from the albums the band plan to showcase at the gigs, what fans call the 'Holy Trinity' of Saxon albums, 'Wheels of Steel', 'Strong Arm of the Law' and 'Denim and Leather'. Biff also reveals that the band are planning a new album, and that he has a solo album in the pipeline.

Also in part 1, Night Ranger frontman Jack Blades talks us through the writing and recording of their new platter 'High Road', selects three songs from the album and discusses the band's touring schedule and long term plans.

In part two, Peavy Wagner of German Melodic Metalmeisters Rage talks about the band's new 30th anniversary double album of rarities 'The Soundchaser Archives', chooses two tracks, and looks back at the highlights of three decades of metal.
And finally we catch up with Area 11, an exciting new band from the UK whose love of Japanese culture and music has seen them write music for cartoons and anime in the land of the rising sun.

You can also listen on Sunday 6th June 15:00-17:00 GMT and Wednesday 9th June 22:00-00.00 GMT on www.totalrock.com, and on demand on hot new Texas rock and metal station KXZR Radio at www.kxzr.fm
