Greek metallers InnerWish have produced this, their 5th album, and first with a new vocalist George Eikosipentakis. He’s the band’s third frontman and I think they’d be wise to hang on to this one – he’s a keeper.

The most immediate thing about the self-titled InnerWish album is the huge sound. Mosnter production and clear mix and that traditional European melodic metal sound – double kick drums, frantic at times pacing and layers of guitars and riffs.

The next most noticeable attribute of this album is the new boy. He sings his ass off here. George has a massive case of the Jorn Lande’s, which is not a bad thing as far as I’m concerned.
He’s delivery isn’t quite the same and his voice somewhat deeper than Jorn, but the style and the mannerisms and the raspy grasp of higher notes and powerhouse screams is total Jorn.

Highlights include the riff powered Roll The Dice, with a big Masterplan style chorus; the faster, more menacing Broken; the Impellitteri styled Machines Of Fear; the acoustic intro’d mini-epic Needles In My Mind and the even longer Rain Of A Thousand Years.
Only the acoustic Cross The Line gives off any hint of a song of non-metal origins. It’s a really solid ballad.
And the Iron Maiden themed Tame The Seven Seas closes the album with a flourish.

This is the type of album that fans of Impellitteri, Masterplan and Iron Maiden to name a few will enjoy. Good strong songs, some surprising chorus hooks in places and layers of harmonies when needed. An album that puts this band on the map in my opinion. Metal heads should investigate.

The song "Rain Of A Thousand Years" from the album can be streamed at YouTube. Link: https://youtu.be/sfdla3ZsbEE

The album was mixed by Fredrik Nordström and Henrik Udd at Studio Fredman [In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, Hammerfall] and mastered by Peter In De Betou [Arch Enemy, Opeth, Amon Amarth]. The artwork of the album was created by Felipe Machado Franco [Blind Guardian, Rhapsody Of Fire, Xandria] and the design was done by Jan Yrlund [Korpiklaani, Apocalyptica, Manowar].

The band comments on the new album:

"This is the first album with our new lineup, and we hope this lineup will be unchanged for many years since we now feel stronger, more confident and sure about ourselves than ever before. For those reasons we chosed 'InnerWish' as the title of our new album, because it represents us in the most exact way. We are very proud of this album. It might sound very common, but it's the truth for us: this is the best InnerWish album so far! Heavy, aggressive, modern, melodic and diverse at the same time, with all the classical InnerWish elements, combined with some new ones. It might have been 6 years since the release of 'No turning back' but all the difficult times we've been through made us stronger and the result is this new, fifth album of InnerWish. We are back for good!"

Ulterium Records have been quietly releasing some quality metal in recent times and 2015 has seen the label reach new highs. Partially due to titles like this, the debut from Slovakian metal outfit Within Silence album.
I really like this album. I think the music is a nice heavy mix of power and melody, with an added dramatic flair.
The production is quite superb and the musicianship is excellent.

What’s most of appeal though – to these ears – is the band’s emphasis on melodies, harmonies and some very good chorus hooks.
There will be a few that have an issue with the sometimes heavy accent of vocalist Martin Klein. It’s not constant though…and his high notes and harmonies are quite wonderful.

After another one of those seemingly essential daft 1-minute instru-intro, the hard hitting but melodic metal of Silent Desire makes an immediate impact. Especially with the chorus.
Emptiness Of Night is almost as good, delivering a fierce beat.
Double kick drums get another heavy work out on Love Is Blind, with its progressive elements shining through.
The accent is back in play for Judgement Day, but the song has enough charisma for it not to be an issue.
The near 8 minute long Road to the Paradise is only the second lengthy track of the album and the band use the time well to showcase their prog-metal credientials.

A very decent debut. Strong material and excellent production, I think these guys will be around for a while to come. A little more work on the vocal delivery is about all that is needed for the band to continue expanding their fanbase.

DIVINER is a heavy metal band from Greece founded by long-time friends and music partners Yiannis Papanikolaou (vocals) and Thimios Krikos (guitar) in the summer of 2011.
Their vision was to proudly express themselves by creating and playing something powerful, intense, deep, heavy, dark and inspired that at the same time would sound up to date. All this without losing the elements that reflect the essence of pure and timeless magic of metal music.

With this in mind they started writing songs and in a short period of time some of their friends and well known musicians of the local metal scene George Maroulees (guitar), Herc Booze (bass) and Fragiskos Samoilis (drums) joined them and the band took its final form.

'Fallen Empires' is DIVINER's first attempt to reach out to the metal world and will be released by Ulterium Records on the 20th of November 2015.

Their sound influences cover a very wide range of metal paths having classic heavy origins and melodies, blended with modern crushing riffs, groovy rhythm sections, powerful vocals and an overall up to date approach.

The recordings took place at Devasoundz Studios in Athens, with Thimios Krikos and Fotis Benardo (SIXFORNINE, ex- SEPTIC FLESH) handling them. Thimios Krikos was also responsible for the mixing of the album, while Peter In de Betou (Arch Enemy, Opeth, Amon Amarth) of Tailor Maid fame handled the mastering. The cover artwork and sleeve design were made by the talented artist Alan Fall of Digital Grief.

Debut album from this new progressive metal band feat. the founder Tom Frelek on guitars, Henrik Båth [Darkwater] on vocals, Mike Lepond [Symphony X] on bass and Marco Minnemann [The Aristocrats, Steven Wilson, Joe Satriani] on drums. Mixed and mastered at Fascination Street [Opeth, Symphony X, Kreator] in Sweden.

Waken Eyes was started early 2013 by Tom Frelek after his old band had gone on hiatus. Tom was still playing in his own instrumental band but wanted to create a prog album that was heavy, melodic, cinematic and with vocals.

The inspiration for writing the album came from many different sources like: music, paintings and movies. Musically the inspiration came mainly from classical composers like Chopin, Mozart, Stravinsky and soundtrack composers like Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, Danny Elfman and others. Tom’s inspiration, when it comes to guitar players are Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Al Di Meola, Michael Romeo, John Petrucci and B.B King.

When Tom finished writing all the demos for the album he already had musicians in mind to play on this record. Marco Minnemann was one of those guys he wanted to get after hearing him play on Paul Gilbert's spaceship one DVD. Hearing how amazingly talented Marco was struck him to send him an email with a few demos attached. He complimented the demos and agreed to play. He completely added so much life to the songs and Tom was almost in tears at one point! The rest is history!

After Marco recorded all the drums (in 3-4 days!) he sent upgraded demos to Mike Lepond of Symphony X as he’s an amazing musician. He recorded his parts fairly quickly. Needless to say Mike's playing was superb and brought the tracks to life!

As for vocals, Tom got Henrik Bath to sing on the album. Tom heard of Henrik and his band Darkwater from a good friend of his. Tom was instantly blown away by his vocal ability. He contacted Henrik and sent him the demos with Marco and Mikes' parts on them. The recording process started shortly after. The life that Henrik brought to this album is indescribable. There is so much passion and honesty in how Henrik sings. Tom had many “wow” moments when Henrik sent over his vocal takes.

The theme of the album is about being fearless and every song has something to do about fearlessness. The theme came from the struggles of everyday life that everyone deals with. How people, emotions, media, governments can enforce fear upon you to make you think a certain way to more or less control you. It's an album for those who struggle to stand up for themselves and can't let their voice be heard.
Certain songs have lyrical ideas about war, media, falling in and out of love, spirituality and faith, good and evil. To sum it up, it is an album about hope. Sounding dark at times but with hope at the end of the tunnel.

“Exodus” is a very impressive and diverse album that will surely appeal to fans of progressive metal, progrock and melodic metal. The album has a great mix of catchy melodies, challenging instrumental parts and epic cinematic movements that will surely capture the attention of the musical community. Everything comes together perfectly in the title track that ends the album with its 18 minutes long epic filled with melodies, progressive parts and a good dose of feeling.

Waken Eyes presents an impressive debut album with “Exodus”, don’t miss out!

INNERWISH In Studio Recording New Album

Artist:
Release Year:
2015
Categories:

The greek melodic metallers INNERWISH entered the studio on the 5th of August and began recording their fifth studio album, for an early 2016 release through Ulterium Records.
Drums are being tracked at Devasoundz Studios (of SEPTIC FLESH fame) in Athens, Greece, with Fotis Benardo (ex- SEPTIC FLESH drummer and current SIXFORNINE vocalist) handling the recordings.

The as-yet-untitled new album, is the first with the two newest members of the band, George Eikosipentakis on vocals and Fragiskos Samoilis on drums.

Regarding the musical direction of the new material, the band stated: “This time things worked a bit differently, still maintaining the basic core. New members, fresh ideas were blended to our music characteristics and we believe this is the more diverse album we have ever created. Yet powerful, melodic, heavy, lyrical and full of energy. All the INNERWISH elements are still here, but expanded in a way that came naturally through this long and difficult period, during which we were composing and trying to guarantee the best possible result. In the end though, we are proud with these new songs, the sound of INNERWISH of today and feel confident that you will love them too! Let’s roll the dice again”.
Songtitles set to appear on the album include “Broken”, “Zero Ground”, “Through My Eyes”, “Serenity”, “Roll The Dice” and “The Sins Of The Past”.

INNERWISH’s latest album, “No Turning Back”, was released in May 2010 via Ulterium Records.

Within Silence is a young, promising melodic metal band that are ready to make an impact in the metal scene with their debut album “Gallery of Life”.

The band was formed under the name “Rightdoor” in 2008 by Martin Klein and Richard Germanus and was operating more as a project during the first years. Besides Martin and Richard, some other musicians were involved but no stable line-up was kept. During 2012 the band recorded a single that helped them to get the word out.

The following year the band found new members and the current line-up was completed as Peter Gacik [drums], Martin Cico [guitars] and Filip Andel [bass] joined the band.

Rightdoor was now a full band and started to play shows around in their home country Slovakia. During 2013 and 2014 they shared the stage with bands like Dark Moor, Theocracy, Blaze Bayley and more.

At the end of 2014 the band finished the recordings of their debut album entitled “Gallery of Life” with the help of producer Jan Cvercko. The guys then felt that they needed a stronger band name, so they decided to change it to “Within Silence”. Early 2015 Within Silence signed a deal with the Swedish label Ulterium Records, and the debut album “Gallery of Life” is scheduled to come out early May in Europe and North America.

Strong musicianship and the ability to write interesting songs with memorable melodies makes Within Silence a band to be reckoned with for years to come. Their debut album “Gallery of Life” got everything from up-tempo power metal tracks like “Silent Desire” and “Emptiness of Night” to pounding metal tracks like “The Last Drop of Blood” to epic metal songs like “Road to the Paradise”.

“Gallery of Life” will be a perfect album for fans of bands like Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius and Theocracy and fans of melodic metal in general.

The artwork was created by Jan Yrlund at Darkgrove Design [Delain, Apocalyptica, Korpiklaani].

Bio:
Harmony was formed in 2000 in Borås, Sweden by Markus Sigfridsson [guitars] and Tobias Enbert [drums]. The two were also joined by Henrik Båth on vocals. They recorded a demo in 2001 that received great reviews and also got them signed to German label Massacre Records in 2002.

Their debut album "Dreaming Awake" was recorded during 2002 and released in 2003 through Massacre. The band had created an album full of great melodic metal and at this time they had a complete line-up with Magnus Holmberg on keyboards and Andreas Passmark [Royal Hunt, W.E.T., Work of Art, Narnia] on bass. After the release of the album Harmony played a good number of shows in Sweden, but also in Norway and Finland.

After a few years of recording silence Harmony signed with the Swedish label Ulterium Records and finally released their second album "Chapter II: Aftermath" in 2008, an album that was received really well around the world. The album featured guest vocals by Daniel Heiman [ex Lost horizon, Heed] on the track "Inner Peace", and Kristoffer Gildenlöw [ex. Pain of Salvation, Dial] performed all bass on the album.

Markus, Tobias, Magnus and Henrik also played together in the progressive metal band Darkwater, and when the second Darkwater album “Where Stories End” was released in 2010 Henrik felt that he wanted to put more focus into Darkwater, so they all decided that it was best if he left Harmony, and so did Magnus. No hard feeling involved at all, and all the guys are still in Darkwater.

Markus and Tobias was eager to get to work on the third Harmony album, and they started to select which tracks that would appear on the album, and they decided to start recording it, even though Harmony didn't have a complete line-up yet.

Tobias had during that time started the band Empire 21, and through the contacts there he got to know Raphael Darfas, who also play with Almah. He agreed to perform the bass on the up-coming album, and to join the Harmony line-up. In Empire 21 Harmony also found their new keyboard player John Svensson. Markus and Tobias was impressed by his abilities so they asked him to join Harmony, and he said yes.

The tricky part was to find a new vocalist that would replace Henrik on the new album. After a couple of auditions without finding the perfect vocalist, Tobias and Markus agreed to ask Daniel Heiman to perform the vocals on the album since they both love his voice and since he did such a great job on the track "Inner Peace" on the previous Harmony album. He said "yes" and the strong line-up for the album was ready. To bring in an extra dimension to the new songs, Harmony asked Ulrik Arturén to perform backing vocals on the album, which he did with a fantastic result.

The third Harmony album entitled "Theatre of Redemption" was recorded at different studios around Sweden, the mixing was handled by Henrik Udd and Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman [At The Gates, In Flames, Hammerfall] and the mastering by Thomas "Plec" Johansson [Scar Symmetry, Watain]. When listening to the end result, it's obvious that "Theatre of Redemption" got the best production of the three Harmony albums, without competition.

With fast and powerful songs like the album opener “The Window of My Soul” and “Crown Me King”, epic mid-tempo songs like the title track and “Son Of The Morning” as well as more commercial metal songs like “Inhale” and “Hands of Time”, Tobias and Markus should be proud of themselves when it comes to the song-writing on “Theatre of Redemption”.

The strong and diverse songs, the emotional and technical guitar playing by Markus Sigfridsson and the fantastic vocals provided by Daniel Heiman brings Harmony up to the same level as the biggest bands in the melodic metal genre. Just listen and you will see. Follow us into the Theatre of Redemption. www.harmonymetal.net

Bio:
Black Fate was formed in 1990 in Larissa Greece by Nikos & Elias Tsintzilonis, Heracles Fanarakis andStelios Papakostas. They released two demos called “Black Fate” and “A Piece of Dream” which earned great reviews from the Greek metal media and the band started playing their first shows.

In 2000 after a few line-up changes the debut album “Uncover” was released by Secret Port Records and two years later the two first demos were also re-released together on an album with the title “A Piece of Dream”.

In 2007 Nikos Tsintzilonis met Vasilis Georgiou and decided to put Black Fate back on track. They started working on new material and writing new songs for a new album and began to make plans for a new beginning of the band. The result of all this work was the album "Deliverance of Soul" that was released in 2009 by Asiral Records.

After the album release the old line up couldn't follow the bands live obligations and the search for new band members started.
After some searching Black Fate recruited guitarist Gus Drax known for his presence in the progressive metal band Biomechanical from the UK, and also from Sunburst and his solo album "In Search of Perfection". Vasilis Liakos from the band Innosense also joined Black Fate.Together with vocalist Vasilis Georgiou and founding member and drummer Nikos Tsintzilonis the band was full again and started playing shows in support for "Deliverance Of Soul".

The shows went great, and Black Fate decided to keep on playing together and started working on the new album. After much hard work for 2 and a half years of composing and demoing ideas the band locked themselves in the studio and recorded 10 brand new songs for the new album.

This time with 7 string guitars the band went for a heavier but still very melodicstyle, combining modern and old school influences like Kamelot,Iron Maiden,Conception,Dream Theater and others while striving to create their own identity and mark as a band.

Black Fate recorded all drums, bass and acoustic guitars for the album in Warcry Studios in Larisa. All guitars and vocals were recorded at Gstudio and Hall studios. The album was mixed by Nikos Tsintzilonis in the Gstudio and was mastered by Eric Tordsson [End of September, Antestor] at Solid Mix Studios in Sweden.

A deal was inked with the Swedish label Ulterium Records and the new Black Fate album “Between Visions & Lies” is scheduled for a released on November 28th in Europe and December 2nd in North America.
