FOREIGNER features strongly in every category in Billboard’s “Greatest of All Time” listings. Recently released album Foreigner with the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus immediately hit the #1 spot on the Billboard classical album chart for multiple weeks. The concert is being streamed and broadcast by PBS and internationally this summer. The album inspired sold-out tour dates. FOREIGNER’S recent European tour included sold-out shows at London's Royal Albert Hall, in Tel Aviv, Hamburg, Reykjavík and a return to The Kultur und Kongresszentrum in Lucerne where the band has now played four shows to sold-out audiences.  In addition to this, the band's appearance with the National Youth Orchestra of Australia already sold out the iconic Sydney Opera House, and will play to full houses all over Australia and New Zealand in October 2018.

Founded in 1976, FOREIGNER‘s debut album produced the hits “Feels Like The First Time,” “Cold As Ice” and “Long, Long Way From Home.”  The album Double Vision followed, as did a string of hits like “Urgent,” “Juke Box Hero” and “Waiting For A Girl Like You.”  Those songs helped give FOREIGNER‘s  next album, 4, its impressive run at #1 on the Billboard chart.  At the zenith of 80’s sound, FOREIGNER‘s fifth album, Agent Provocateur, gave the world the incredible #1 global hit,” I Want To Know What Love Is.”  This musical milestone followed the record-breaking song “Waiting For A Girl Like You.”

At FOREIGNER‘s core is the founder and Songwriters Hall of Fame member Mick Jones, the visionary maestro whose stylistic songwriting, indelible guitar hooks and multi-layered talents continue to escalate FOREIGNER‘s influence, and guide the band to new horizons. A multi-talented and multi-dimensional “musicians musician,” Jones has also written songs such as “Bad Love” with Eric Clapton and “Dreamer” with Ozzy Osbourne, and produced records for others including Billy Joel’s Storm Front and Van Halen’s 5150.  A Grammy and Golden Globe-nominated songwriter, Jones is the winner of the prestigious British Ivor Novello Songwriter Award for “The Flame Still Burns”, the soundtrack music for the film Still Crazy.

Jones reformed the band after a 2002 hiatus and selected lead singer Kelly Hansen to help write an inspired new chapter in the history of Foreigner. One of rock’s greatest showmen, Hansen is known for his innate ability to connect with the crowds.  As a front man and lead vocalist, Hansen is among the most respected, consummate professionals in rock and roll. With a 35-year career that spans almost every area of music, from the role of lead vocalist to producing and engineering, Kelly has the unique ability to advance and excel when faced with new challenges.

This summer, FOREIGNER rocks cross the US on its Live Nation twenty-nine city headline Juke Box Heroes Tour with WHITESNAKE and JASON BONHAM’S LED ZEPPELIN EVENING supporting.  This is one of the hottest tours of the summer and tickets are available at LiveNation.com.

August 2018 sees the launch of Juke Box Hero, the Musical in Canada.  Based on the book written by the prolific writing duo, Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, responsible for The Commitments movie and the Tracey Ullman TV show, the show will feature many of FOREIGNER’s 16 iconic Top 30 hits.

Recently, FOREIGNER’s catalog sales were celebrated in Business Insider for hitting the Top 40 among the Best Selling Music Artists of All Time.  The Beatles were  #1, but FOREIGNER came in ahead of Britney Spears, Bob Dylan, Phil Collins, Prince, Queen, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard.

“I’m excited to join forces with my fellow U.K. countrymen, David Coverdale and Jason Bonham, for what’s sure to be a rockin’ summer tour in the States,” says FOREIGNER founding member and lead guitarist Mick Jones.

As Whitesnake lead singer David Coverdale says, “We are truly excited and looking forward to playing in 2018 with our friends, Foreigner and Jason Bonham, on their North American tour.”

Says Jason Bonham, "Being part of Foreigner’s 40th Anniversary Tour last summer was wonderful. Opening a show like that was very special to me, so when Mick asked if I’d do it again in 2018, I said yes without hesitation. I’m excited that Whitesnake will be filling out the middle slot this time as I’ve known David since I was 14 years old. It’s going to be a WHOLE LOTTA FUN!"

Since the 1977 release of their first hit “Feels Like The First Time” and their self-titled debut album on Atlantic Records, FOREIGNER has been universally hailed as one of the world’s most popular rock acts with 10 multi-Platinum albums, 16 Top 30 hits, and worldwide album sales exceeding 75 million.  Responsible for some of rock and roll’s most enduring anthems including “Juke Box Hero,” “Cold as Ice,” “Feels Like The First Time,” “Urgent,” “Head Games,” “Say You Will,” and the worldwide #1 hit, “I Want To Know What Love Is,” FOREIGNER continues to rock the charts forty years into the game with massive airplay and continued Billboard “Top 200 Albums” chart success.  FOREIGNER also features strongly in every category in Billboard’s “Greatest of All Time” listing.  Catalog sales often eclipse those of Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Aerosmith, and most of their Classic Rock peers.  (Source: Nielsen SoundScan week ending 8/3/17). FOREIGNER’s catalog sales were recently celebrated in Business Insider as hitting the Top 40 among the Best Selling Music Artists of All Time ahead of Britney Spears, Bob Dylan, Phil Collins, Prince, Queen, and Bon Jovi.

Throughout this tour, FOREIGNER will continue their long-standing partnership with The GRAMMY Museum, by which local school choirs are invited to join the band on stage in almost every market they play. Through this program over the past several years, the band has raised well into the six figures for music in school programs, and given thousands of students
a life-changing experience to rock on stage with one of the most well known bands of all time.

The band recently released a celebratory 40th anniversary album that features 40 tracks tracing their distinguished career. Entitled 40, the album is a comprehensive compilation of original hits and several tracks from the current lineup, with Kelly Hansen on vocals. All tracks were recorded between 1977 and 2017. The current line-up  is Mick Jones (lead guitar), Kelly Hansen (lead vocals), Jeff Pilson (bass, vocals), Tom Gimbel (rhythm guitar, saxophone, vocals), Michael Bluestein (keyboards), Bruce Watson (guitar), and Chris Frazier (drums).

Founded in 1978 by former Deep Purple singer David Coverdale, WHITESNAKE has earned multi-Platinum status for numerous albums, including TROUBLELOVEHUNTERREADY AND WILLING and COME AN’ GET IT, as well as the album that introduced the explosive hard rock revamped WHITESNAKE sound with SLIDE IT IN. The band is currently celebrating the 30th anniversary of their 1987’s self-titled multi-Platinum smash hit album, WHITESNAKE.  From these albums came multiple Top 10 hits worldwide, including two #1 singles with “Here I Go Again” and “Is This Love,” as well as the unforgettable hammer of “Still Of The Night,” all leading to virtual 24-hour domination of MTV around the globe. Bombast, bravado, talent and passion have helped establish WHITESNAKE as the perennial platinum favorite they have become and they’re back with a vengeance in 2018.  The world-renowned group featuring David Coverdale (vocals), Reb Beach (guitar), Joel Hoekstra (guitar), Michael Devin (bass), Tommy Aldridge (drums) and Michele Luppi (keyboards) are currently in the studio recording their tentatively titled new studio album FLESH & BLOOD.

Following his participation in the monumental reunion of Led Zeppelin at London’s O2 arena in 2007, drummer Jason Bonham decided to take the music his father was such a huge part of out on the road. The result became Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening. Best described as a band that perfectly recreates the music of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening not only celebrates one of music’s most iconic bands but also the life of Bonham's late father, who died in 1980.

When asked why he decided to start the project, Jason said, "It was medicine to relieve myself from the amount of Led Zeppelin that I had studied and rehearsed prior to the O2 show and then dealing with the realization that it wasn’t going to go anywhere beyond that one concert. It originally began as me just wanting to put together a show, but once I realized I could make it more than just the music it became something more. It gave me the opportunity to give a little nod to what everyone knows about my dad’s wild side but also show his sensitive side as well. For me, he was always dad at home and this was an idea to show a deeper side of that."

Check out the tour at any of the following stops, with more dates to be announced in the coming weeks and posted on FOREIGNER‘s official website. Fans can also check out livenation.com for updates on tour dates and news.

FOREIGNER Musical: 'Jukebox Hero' To Premiere In Summer 2018

Artist:

Calgary, Alberta:  Annerin Theatricals and FOREIGNER announced today that as part of FOREIGNER’s 40th Anniversary celebration they are creating a brand-new musical entitled Jukebox Hero.  Based on the screenplay written by the prolific writing duo, Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, responsible for films The Commitments and Across The Universe, and The Tracey Ullman TV Show, Jukebox Hero is a coming of age saga written to the music of FOREIGNER.

The show will feature their 16 iconic Top Thirty hit songs such as I Want To Know What Love Is, Cold As Ice, Waiting For A Girl Like You, Hot Blooded, Jukebox Hero and Urgent, and this forthcoming world premiere of Jukebox Hero will open first in Calgary on August 10 – 12, 2018 at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium and then play in Edmonton on August 16 - 19, 2018 at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.

“FOREIGNER is proud to be associated with Annerin Productions in bringing Mick Jones’ dream of a production of Jukebox Hero, The Musical to fruition.  Jeff Parry and his team at Annerin have successfully presented theatrical musicals across the world, most notably on Broadway and in London’s West End," says manager Phil Carson.
Writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais added “Ever since we wrote the book for 'Billy' starring Michael Crawford, which ran for two years at London's Drury Lane Theatre, we have been keen to get involved in another stage musical. So it's a great thrill for us to know that Jukebox Hero is going to open next year in Canada. We'll be there. Can't wait.”
“If someone would have told me three years ago when Phil Carson and I first met in Dawson Creek (with Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience) that we would have an opportunity to help create a musical in Alberta, destined for Broadway, I would have said that someone is playing "Head Games" with a "Dirty White Boy" from Calgary.” Said Jeff Parry, Founder and CEO of Annerin Productions.
Jukebox Hero is set in Blaydon, Pennsylvania, a rust-belt town dependent on one main industry. The story starts with the closure of its biggest factory and the plight of its now unemployed workforce. The town seeks the help of Blaydon’s most famous son, music superstar Ryan, but returning to Blaydon doesn’t just mean revisiting a town where he’s become a stranger, it means confronting the ghosts of his past.
“I never could have imagined when I set out to create FOREIGNER forty years ago, that we’d still be touring around the world and performing the music we love all these years later,” says founding member and lead guitarist Mick Jones. “I am so proud that these songs will now be reinterpreted for stage, and am honored by the team that is helping bring this music to life. I can’t express the gratitude I feel when fans share stories of how our songs have been woven into their milestones and memories over the years.  I had so many great times with FOREIGNER in Canada and I look forward to bringing the band back here for our 40th anniversary tour.  I’m thrilled that Canada will see the world premiere of our brand-new musical, Jukebox Hero, in 2018.”
FOREIGNER’s 10-city Canadian tour is set to launch in Calgary, AB on October 11th, and travel across Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia as the band - Mick Jones (lead guitar), Kelly Hansen (lead vocals), Jeff Pilson (bass, vocals), Tom Gimbel (rhythm guitar, sax, vocals), Michael Bluestein (keyboards), Bruce Watson (guitar) and Chris Frazier (drums) – bring FOREIGNER’s arsenal of hits to Canada. Some tickets are remaining for selected dates. For more information on the tour visit:   www.jeffparrypromotions.com/foreigner

Foreigner 40: Lou Gramm, Mick Jones Reveal Birth Of Unique Partnership

Podcasts & Radio
Dallas, TX - March 8, 2017.  North American syndicated Rock radio show and website In The Studio with Redbeard: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands  examines the birth of late ‘70s rock juggernaut Foreigner with its two creative principles Lou Gramm and Mick Jones.

Foreigner was the brainchild of Englishman and former Spooky Tooth guitarist Mick Jones, a veteran musician in 1977 looking to re-energize his career with a fresh start in America. Jones teamed with fellow Brit Ian McDonald and they auditioned thirty-five singers before discovering Lou Gramm, an unheralded singer then in a band called Black Sheep from Rochester in upstate New York.  After a series of auditions with Gramm, this unlikely pair found common ground in the studio, putting together a remarkable debut album Foreigner of ready-made radio hits including “Feels Like The First Time”, “Cold As Ice” and “Long Long Way From Home”.

Foreigner’s first release forty years ago would become the fastest selling album in Atlantic Records history. The skyrocketing success would later manifest as tension in the band and ultimately lead to a lineup change on their fourth effort, but it is the unique relationship between Lou Gramm and Mick Jones which would define Foreigner for a decade.

Speaking to Gramm and Jones, In The Studio producer and host Redbeard gets a clearer picture of the relationship behind Foreigner’s hit machine.

“I felt there was an interesting chemistry...based on Mick’s rock and roll experience and Ian’s eclectic left field background, that there would be some really really interesting songs... That was really appealing to me.”  - Lou Gramm

“We (Mick and Lou) weren’t necessarily people who would hang out together. We sometimes found it, and still do find it, awkward to be together sometimes... I’ve gotten to know Lou over these years and he’s gotten to know me. We have different tastes. We have different things we like to do in our spare time. We occasionally get together socially, but it’s quite rare.”   - Mick Jones

FOREIGNER Announces 40th Anniversary Tour Details: Billboard Exclusive

Tour News
Foreigner plans to make this year's 40th anniversary summer tour "a family affair" according to group founder Mick Jones -- including the other acts on the bill and the return of some prodigal sons.
The group kicks things off June 11 in Syracuse with longtime pals Cheap Trick and former drummer Jason Bonham and his band. And Mick Jones tells Billboard that original Foreigner members Lou Gramm, Ian McDonald and Al Greenwood will be appearing on select dates. "They're not on the whole tour, but there will be some appearances," Jones says. "It's the right time to do this. I'm looking forward to that and we'll see how it goes, and I'm sure it'll go down well."
The reunions will certainly be a highlight during a busy anniversary year for Foreigner. The group will be touring extensively; In addition to the summer dates -- 37 dates running through Sept. 9 in Auburn, Wash. (tickets go on sale Jan. 13 via www.LiveNation.com) -- the group is also playing U.S. dates starting Jan. 30, with a European tour beginning May 20 in Switzerland. A two-disc, 40-track anniversary compilation with some brand new material is planned, while Jones will be publishing his memoir, A Foreigner's Tale, due out this spring.
"I could never have dreamed this would happen or that we would still have some kind of relevance 40 years later. It's unbelievable, really," says Jones, who formed Foreigner during 1976 in New York, releasing its first album a year later. "I think it's fitting at this point that we do this. I'm very proud of everything we've done and what we've achieved, and of how the new band [lineup] has fought back for me and for the heritage of Foreigner. It's kind of the way I always dreamed that Foreigner would appears, as a very exciting live band and everything that goes along with it. It's really been very inspiring for me."
The compilation album, meanwhile, will precede the tour, adding a new recording of "The Flame Still Burns," a song Jones wrote for the 1998 film Still Crazy (the group has already released a video for the song), along with "a few others in the offing, another [new] song that we're working on right now, and then all the greatest hits and more."

Lou Gramm, Mick Jones Recall 1981 Album of the Year, Foreigner 4

Podcasts & Radio

Dallas, TX - July 7, 2016.  North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio with Redbeard: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands  visits with Lou Gramm and Mick Jones for the 35th anniversary of Foreigner’s most significant album, Foreigner 4.  The Album of the Year in 1981, it was # 1 seller on the American charts for ten weeks, producing the hits “Waiting For A Girl Like You”, “Urgent”, the rocker “Night Life” , and the classic “Jukebox Hero”.

In the late1970s the band Foreigner seemed destined to become a classic case of too much, too soon. The band’s first, 1977’s Foreigner and then Double Vision in 1978, were multi-platinum hits of unprecedented proportions and Foreigner entered the Rock and Roll arena as a full blown star. It was heady stuff, to be sure, but that kind of rapid success is often a recipe for quick decline as well.

For Foreigner the critical point came after their third album Head Games which was released in 1979. Head Games didn’t do as well as the first two albums, and the six Foreigner band members started to blame each other, resulting in departure of two of Foreigner’s original members. There were serious questions as to whether the remaining four should continue as the band Foreigner. In the end Mick Jones, Lou Gramm, Rick Wills and Dennis Elliott decided to forge ahead, making their most successful album ever. Mick Jones, Foreigner’s founder and lead guitarist, and former singer, songwriter Lou Gramm reflect with InTheStudio host Redbeard, on the crisis and eventual vindication that marked Foreigner 4

“We started to rehearse for the 4 album. I was so frustrated because I felt that the direction of the band was getting so diverse, with everybody wanting to express themselves... I wasn’t hogging the writing. I was ready to be challenged by anybody else’s ideas, and as far as I was concerned the objective was to achieve a great album...and I was pretty strong minded about it.”  -  Mick Jones

“It was only after a week in the studio that the kind of undercurrent and dissatisfaction came to a head and the changes were made, or I think the band would have fallen apart right in the studio.” - Lou Gramm

Legendary guitarist MICK JONES of FOREIGNER joins Mitch on episode 208 of One On One With Mitch Lafon.

MICK JONES new interview - HEAD GAMES reunion coming

LINK TO EPISODE: http://www.spreaker.com/user/talkingmetal/1on1-mitch-lafon-208-mick-jones-foreigne

In the episode's only interview, FOREIGNER's MICK JONES discusses his recent health issues (heart), as well as the band's upcoming tour dates, their latest album (the acoustic) IN CONCERT - UNPLUGGED, producing VAN HALEN's 5150 album, juvenile diabetes, working again with LOU GRAMM, plans for a 40th anniversary (reunion) tour (reuniting the HEAD GAMES lineup), recording new music, singer KELLY HANSEN and much more.

Quotes from the MICK JONES interview:

His heart issues (time at 5.02): "It really gave me a chance to stop and think about things a bit. First of all, think about how the hell I was going to deal with my life after that."

Kelly Hansen (Time 8.39): "He was an incredible addition to the band. It was absolutely vital that we had somebody who could step into 'those shoes'. He's just gone from better to better to better. Can't describe it really. He's just so dedicated."

Van Halen's 5150 (time 12.55) : "I guess I liked to live dangerously.  I had known Sammy (Hagar) quite well over the years and that was the connection. It was a formidable atmosphere when I got there and I was nervous - I really was."

40th year anniversary and working with LOU GRAMM again (25.02): "It's quite possible. We've actually been talking about it. We're all working on trying to make it happen. It's kind of exciting. Hopefully it'll be feasible and possible to pull it off."

REUNITING the HEAD GAMES line up (time 25.43): "Lou and I have communicated and we've kept up a sort of loose communication as I have actually also with Ian McDonald, Al Greenwood, Dennis Elliott and Rick Wills. We're at the early stages, but we're trying to put something together to commemorate (it's scary when I say it) 40 years."
