AOR Heaven Announces Sept. 22 Releases - NEWMAN & MARTIN EDOFF

AOR Heaven‘s September 22 releases from Martina Edoff and Newman:

In 1997 Singer, songwriter Steve Newman formed the band Newman and since 1998 has been producing consistently high quality albums filled with hook laden songs and thought provoking lyrics and released 10 studio albums and one best of compilation up to today. The previous release, "The Elegance Machine", was released  in 2015 and the band returned to the road with shows in Europe and their first UK headline tour.

Steve Newman continued to write throughout 2016, songs, of which some have featured on various artists releases, and some which are still to come. It was within this writing process that Newman started to piece together the ideas which would become his latest release, and 11th studio album.

"Aerial" now  features 12 tracks that return to the huge chorus's, maintaining the high quality production values that have been prevalent  over the last albums. But this record, above all, is all about the songs, you could say it's an unashamed AOR/Melodic Rock record and follows that rule across all 12 songs to give the listener a very consistent album. Once again Steve Newman has teamed up with Rob McEwen (drummer for the last nine Newman albums), the album also features long time friend Mark Thompson-Smith lending his vocals to "Fear Of Flying" and " Two Sides". Finally the mastering was taken care of by none other than Harry Hess (Harem Scarem) at H Bomb Mastering.

Track list: 01. Fear Of Flying, 02. Don't Wake The Lion, 03. Can't Stop Loving You, 04. Life To Remember, 05. High Tonight (Aerial), 06. Vertigo (Leap Of Faith), 07. Two Sides, 08. I Am Your Man, 09. Always Strangers, 10. Nothing Left, 11. Still Bleeding, 12. You Don't Know Me

The self-titled MARTINA EDOFF album was released in 2014, and nearly a year later, the second record called “Unity” took her and her band on a successful North American tour in September 2015.

She soon went to Argentina and performed for 6000 new fans as an opening act for Tarja Turunen. The tour went on to share the stage with The Winery Dogs on their European tour in early 2016. The UK audience welcomed her the same year for a mini tour and she later returned to the Rockingham Festival to perform.
Now she's back with the third record “We Will Align” which will be released on AOR Heaven on September 22.

Amongst the already acquired fans is the respected English rock journalist Dave Ling, who discovered MARTINA EDOFF’s eponymous titled solo debut, celebrated her with a full page article in Classic Rock AOR Magazine and put her album on his playlist, describing it as ”Stirring, confident melodies from an unashamed Swedish rock chick!” The great reviews kept on coming in from all over the world.

Together with her former co-producer and co-writer Jona Tee (H.E.A.T), Martina decided to work with him on the third album. In late 2016 the artist started to write on some new songs and found more co-writers who completed the music in the way she was looking for, such as Jonas Törnqvist (Deathriders, Bleed The Hunger, TreasureLland), Erik Mårtensson (Eclipse, Nordic Union, W.E.T), Benny Jansson (Ride The Sky), Billy Sheehan (Mr Big, The Winery Dogs), Jona Tee (H.E.A.T).

“We Will Align” is a melodic hard rock album with a bluesy note along with powerful pieces and it goes back to the roots where EDOFF has got her influences. The strong melodies are always there such as her powerful voice. The musicians are the best to find and they are by her side in the studio as well on stage, i.e. Björn Höglund (drums), Nalle Påhlsson (bass), Stefan Bergström (guitar) and Jona Tee (keyboard/ hammond and production). The mixing went through the hands of the legendary Tobias Lindell.

Track list: 1. Turn our pages, 2. Champions, 3. Alive, 4. We will align, 5. Lay down your arms, 6. Face the mirror, 7. Set you free, 8. I’m invincible, 9. Truth came knocking, 10. Brand new world
Discography: Martina Edoff (2014), Unity (2015), We Will Align (2017)

Pausing to soak up the success of their two studio albums with vocalist Erik Gronwall, Sweden’s mega-talented H.E.A.T release a live show from their current tour, captured in London May 2014.
The English have adopted H.E.A.T as their own, interest building via several appearances at Firefest over the years.
So you have a hugely enthusiastic crowd, a band at the absolute peak of their live power, on tour in support of their utterly essential album Tearing Down The Walls, delivering a setlist of non-stop singalong anthems.

Add to that potent mix, one of the most energetic and dynamic frontmen in rock n roll today. Erik Gronwall is revelation. He’s a freak of nature, hitting every note required while commanding the stage and the audience with consummate ease.
This band is shit hot. There’s no doubt. On record, they are brilliant – on stage they are unstoppable. I’ve seen it first hand – there’s no overdubbing or trickery here – this is 67 minutes of melodic rock perfection, delivered with infectious energy and captured beautifully on this live recording.

The set list is mainly garnered from their two albums with Erik, throwing in just two older cuts here (and a third – Beg Beg Beg for Japan).
But that’s fine with me – I love all 4 albums, but it is the two with Erik that truly blow my mind and sum up everything I love about modern era melodic rock.

The setlist featured reignites the songs once again for those of us that have played them 1000 times already, on what is undoubtedly one of the best live albums of recent years.
Absolutely essential.

H.E.A.T TO RELEASE FIRST EVER LIVE ALBUM
"LIVE IN LONDON"
European Release: 20th February 2015
UK Release date: 23rd February 2015
Released by earMusic

H.E.A.T is one of those bands which you need to see live on stage. Armed with a reputation of a brilliant live act, Sweden’s rock sensation always delivers an energetic and passionate show. "Live In London" is the band’s first ever live release and truly captures them at their best.

Mainly recorded at The Garage in London on 16th May 2014 during their first ever European headline tour, “Live In London” will be released in Europe on Friday 20th February 2015 on earMUSIC (UK release is Monday 23rd February).

Mixed by Grammy award winning producer Tobias Lindell, the live album includes 15 powerful hymns. Front man Erik Grönwall knows how to seduce the audience with his powerful crisp clear voice and his boundless, hyperactive stage persona which makes the audience go crazy.

The band – Eric Rivers (guitar), Jona Tee (keyboards), Jimmy Jay (bass) and Crash (drums) – joins in with a sheer force of energy as they indulge themselves in the music. The album includes all the band’s classics, from the melodious "1000 Miles" to the catchy "It’s All About Tonight" and "Breaking The Silence" as well as their most recent smashes "A Shot At Redempetion" and "Mannequin Show" – to all of which the audience passionately sings along. H.E.A.T will definitely restore your faith in rock music.

The first live video clip for "Tearing Down The Walls" includes images from their most recent tour in May 2014 and gives you an idea of H.E.A.T’s live force:

In 2009, H.E.A.T had a huge hit in Scandinavia with the song "1000 Miles"which was followed by a nomination as one of the Top 50 albums in 2010 by Classic Rock Magazine UK for the band’s second album "Freedom Rock".

Their third studio album "Address The Nation" was praised by media worldwide as one of the best album’s in 2012 and consolidated the band’s reputation as the new leading band in hard edged melodic rock. "Tearing Down The Walls", their celebrated fourth studio album, continued on the road to success on which H.E.A.T provided their fans with phenomenal songs and the band’s historic sound – Metal Hammer UK certified that the album included hit after hit whereas Classic Rock Germany named H.E.A.T one of the best bands from Sweden.

All during the band’s history, H.E.A.T have been touring all over the world, winning the whole of Europe over with their powerful live performances.

H.E.A.T are a band that went on tour with Toto right after they started, that went Top 10 in Sweden with their debut album and supported Alice Cooper as well as Scorpions. They definitely got something right. H.E.A.T will put their reputation to the test on their upcoming autumn dates.

TOTO, JUDAS PRIEST & MOTLEY CRUE For Sweden Rock Fest 2015

Artist:
Wednesday, June 3, 2015
Categories:
Tour News

Late Saturday night, in front of a live audience of 2000 Rockbåten rock cruise passengers, the first acts confirmed for next year's Sweden Rock Festival were announced. 19 out of a total of around 90 acts were presented in a nine minute video trailer which can be seen here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNLaUBVKW2A

Mötley Crüe have announced their retirement after December 31st 2015. This summer, their show at Sweden Rock Festival will be their only in Scandinavia.

Judas Priest have always received a royal welcome by the Sweden Rock audience, so it is no wonder that their only show in Sweden next summer will be played in Sölvesborg.

Toto have been around for 35 years, but have never played the Sweden Rock Festival. Next summer, the wait is over!

Backyard Babies put their career on ice indefinitely in the spring of 2010. Soon, they will be back with a new album and their return to the stages will begin at Sweden Rock, where the band has never set foot before. "We are absolutely psyched!" comments front man Nicke Borg and guitarist Dregen.

HammerFallD-A-D and Dark Tranquillity are Sweden Rock audience favourites and we are happy to have them back.  Thrash metal legends Nuclear Assault have not played in Sweden in more than 20 years but are now making their only Scandinavian appearance next year at Sweden Rock. Nearly 40 years have passed since the original line-up of Lucifer's Friend played together. The group were pioneers of heavy 70´s hard rock - now they are reunited. With John Lawton (ex-Uriah Heep) on vocals, of course.

Also announced are The AngelsExciterRock GoddessH.E.A.TWolfThe QuireboysDelainTorsson and Steve n' Seagulls.

The remaining 70 artists will be announced as they get confirmed throughout the autumn and winter. Tickets and more info can be found at www.swedenrock.com

MELODICROCKFEST 4 - Start & Set Times Updated - Mecca Withdraw

Tour News
Here are all the set times for MelodicRockFest 4 - now just UNDER TWO WEEKS AWAY!!!

Tickets avalable now for just $20/day - www.melodicrockfest.com
Tickets purchased now will be held at the venue for collection or buy at the door on the days.

There has unfortunately been one last forced change to the lineup, with Mecca & Kevin Chalfant forced to withdraw.

After a long series of conversations with my great buddy, Mecca's Joe Vana, he confirms the news:
Joe: "After my surgery three weeks ago I noticed the horse voice I had was not getting better....after consulting two different specialist they determined this can be normal when intubated...and could do long term damage to my chords if I push it too early...so after discussing it intently with Andrew we decided it was best if I cancel our appearance at MRF4....

I have been heavily involved with Andrew on a bunch of different fronts helping him prepare for MRF4, and will continue....I just unfortunately cannot perform...my one gig a year and I can't do it....not happy and disappointed doesn't even do justice to how I feel...."

Mecca in my mind is irreplaceable but after careful consideration, there is one young hot band that can at least step in at the last minute and I think very much impress folks.
That band is Eighty Six Happiness - featuring Joey Vana, son of Joe and part of MRF3's Mecca lineup.
These guys are going to join the Melodicrock Records family, and I believe in their material and ability 100%, so please show them some love.

H.E.A.T - Tearing Down The Walls (Review)

BOTTOM LINE

The production on this album is simply breathtaking as is the mix – it's just so easy on the ears, no matter what volume it's played at – the majority of occasions obviously being ear splittingly loud.

H.E.A.T deserve to be where they are – which is on an upward trajectory – but they deserve to be worldwide sensations, not just European or Swedish stars. This album, coupled with their growing legacy as a killer live act, will hopefully prove to be another step towards world domination.

Based on how long I listened to Address The Nation after its release and how fresh this sounds each time I put it on, I have no hesitation in delivering the first 100 score at MelodicRock.com in 2 years!

Swedish melodic rock heroes H.E.A.T return with an album that evens the ledger as far as the fan base goes. It's now 2 albums with the original vocalist Kenny Leckremo and this makes two with new recruit Erik Gronwall.
The band's debut was utterly sensational and put the band on the map instantly. Freedom Rock let the foot off the pedal a little I felt, but with Erik's addition to the band, Address The Nation in 2012 well and truly put the band back into high gear, even if the direction changed ever so slightly.
So on the back of 2 years of touring, the guys return tighter than ever (minus second guitarist Dave Dalone). Dave's departure hasn't affected the band at all – strangely, the use of the one guitarist and song choices here have toughened up the band's sound.

Tearing Down The Walls sees the band continue the winning formula of Address The Nation, albeit with a slightly heavier approach on the songs and a more straight ahead, take no prisoners attitude.
Let's no beat around the bush here - this is a monster album. It is the sort of album that comes around only once every year or two that firmly stamps it's authority on the rock scene and through its brilliance, defines just why we are all fans of this music and of tis band in particular.
If they could bottle up the energy on this record, it could power a small nation of metal heads for a decade.

Point Of No Return is everything you could wish an opening track to be. It builds, it explodes, it delivers a knockout chorus, and it delivers all the guitars and big harmonies you would die for.

I didn't expect the style of A Shot At Redemption at all. It snuck up on me and is something fresh and original for the band. But as with everything H.E.A.T – it latches on and doesn't let go. Ever!

Inferno is simply a monster, barnstorming rocker with a screw you attitude, a few edgy lyrics and a head pounding beat.

The Wreckoning is a short intro into the big anthem ballad for the album. Not too often does a title track lend itself to being a big chart topping, hands in the air ballad, but Tearing Down The Walls is just that. And what a soaring chorus it is!

Too much has already been made of the similarities between the track Mannequin Show and that of a chart topping bimbo and to those comparisons I say, screw it! This is a deliciously quirky melodic rocker with another great chorus that really digs in. It grooves, it rocks and it's as catchy as hell.

We Will Never Die is one of the album's more straight forward tracks – but that said – the mid-tempo rocker still contains all the energy of the other songs and delivers another great chorus.

Another classic comes immediately with the driving, fast beat of the 'urgent' track Emergency. It rocks and it rolls and the chorus goes right over the top, with harmonies and guitars to the rafters.

All The Nights is the album's quietest moment. The classy and emotional, sentimental piano ballad is a great change in pace and beautifully produced.

Eye For An Eye has to be one of the standout hard rockers of recent years. This hard hitting, powerful rock track is another classic on an album of classics and one I still look forward to hearing even after 100 spins of this album. Another killer chorus.

Enemy In Me lifts the intensity just slightly, but not the pace. Fast and furious and full on. Another great hard rock track with immaculate production.

Laughing At Tomorrow is yet another highlight and yet another H.E.A.T classic for me. As if all the other tracks aren't anyway…but there's something special about this one especially. The mellower verse that leads to the big harmony filled chorus is a lesson in great songwriting for most. After the rollicking ride that this album delivers, it's simply a perfect way to close out proceedings.
