Metal Down Under released in Europe and the UK
--------------------------

After launching in Australia in August and firmly lodging itself in the ARIA Music DVD Charts, Metal Down Under is being unleashed in the UK and Europe through Plastic Head Distribution on November 10th.

Since the late 1970's a thriving underground scene of extreme music has continued to evolve in Australia. Over three epic episodes, Metal Down Under takes a look at the bands, people and events that have shaped this unique slice of Australian history. Featuring over 40 exclusive interviews as well as rare archive footage and photographs from Metal for the Brain, Metal for Melbourne, The Big Day Out, SBS, music videos, live concerts and much more.

'Metal Down Under is a vital and historic piece of film-making. A vibrant document of a thriving underbelly of Australian music that both audiences and the industry often choose to ignore.' Brian Giffin ' Loud Online

Director Nick Calpakdjian spent 2 years travelling Australia interviewing the people, bands, promoters, store owners and fans on the way to compiling the country's most comprehensive look at heavy music. Funded primarily through crowd funding and a fan-based membership drive, the film has been received enthusiastically by fans and bands in Australia. It has also been met with critical success receiving 4-star reviews in Rolling Stone and Blunt Magazines as well as favorable reviews in Heavy Mag, Stack Magazine, Loud Online and a host of online zines, community radio networks and podcasts. It has lodged itself in the best sellers list of iconic record store Utopia Records and JB HiFi stores Australia wide.

'When you look back on the Australian metal scene, and the international scene, the bands that have made the biggest impact are the ones that had a bit of courage to do their own thing.' Tim Charles - Ne Obliviscaris
