Roadmaster 'Sweet Music' CANDY147 / 'Sweet Music' was Roadmaster's second album, a record that was originally issued in 1978 on the Mercury label, and has regarded as arguably the high point of their career. Certainly, the album is amongst the top pomp rock albums of all time, rubbing shoulders with the likes of similar work by Styx, Starcastle, Kansas and Trillion; the epitome of melodic AOR, with a touch of progressive rock thrown in for good measure. Formed in the comparatively laid back environs of Indianapolis and featuring Steven McNally's totally unique vocals, Rick Benick's blazing guitar work and Michael Read's dazzling keyboard flourishes, 'Sweet Music' pushes the pomp rock boundaries to the outer limits of the solar system. One listen to tracks such as 'It Doesn't Mean A Thing', Been Gone To Long', 'Higher Higher' and the anthemic climax of the title track will have you hooked for life. 24-bit remastering from original source tapes, 3,500 word essay about the making of the album, band involvement and additional photos spread out over a 16 page full colour booklet.
Track Listing: 1. It Doesn't Mean A Thing 2. I Must Be Dreaming 3.Ya Move Me 4. Been Gone Too Long 5. I'll Be Lovin' You 6. The Swan Song 7. You Come See Me 8. Higher Higher 9. Circle Of Love 10. Sweet Music.
Roadmaster 'Hey World' CANDY148 / Showcasing frontman Stephen 'Mac' McNally's unique vocals, together with a brace of supremely melodic tracks, Roadmaster's third album 'Hey World' is universally regarded as a high watermark of the genre. Indeed, it is a record that fuses supremely crafted melodic AOR with all the grandeur and magnificence of the greatest pomp rock bands of the era. Think Styx, Kansas, Trillion and Starcastle wrapped up into one glorious bundle of fun. Issued in 1979, the album showcases all the lip smacking components of prime pomp, with soaring lead vocals, multilayered harmonies, breathtaking arrangements and an extraordinary keyboard component. Touring with the likes of Ted Nugent, Blue Oyster Cult and Aerosmith, the 'Hey World' album helped to consolidate their reputation as one of the Mid-West's hardest working and best loved bands. It is a record that continues to offer up surprises even to this day. 24-bit remastering from original source tapes, 3,500 word essay about the making of the album, band involvement and additional photos spread out over a 16 page full colour booklet.
Track Listing: 1. Hey World 2. My Eyes Have Been Opened 3. I'm On My Way 4. Never Say Goodbye 5. Us Comin' Back 6. Say You Wanna Be With Me 7. Rainbow Waterfall 8. Looking For The Day 9. Good To Be Back Home.
Roadmaster 'Fortress' CANDY147 / Originally issued in 1980, this album is a remarkable attempt to distil the Roadmaster sound into a tougher, full-on melodic hard rock attack, focussing on sharp edged guitar playing rather than relying on billowing clouds of keyboards and backing vocals. With Steve McNally's signature voice making the most of the melodies and Rick Benick's guitar work providing solid gold easy action, the album cruises past the finish line as if they were men hell bent on ripping up the rule book. Produced by Frank Zappa alumni Flo & Eddie, the sound here is far livelier than anything they recorded prior to this, giving the band a new rough and ready identity without losing sight of their main principals; great songs, plenty of melody and a stylish swagger that the likes of Journey eventually rode to multiplatinum glory. 24-bit remastering from original source tapes, 3,500 word essay about the making of the album, band involvement and additional photos spread out over a 16 page full colour booklet.
Track Listing: 1. Ride The Wind Away 2. I Didn't Notice 3. You Make Me Feel Alright 4. Too Long, Too Long 5. New York, New York 6. Someday 7. Satisfied Woman 8. Another One's Running 9. Stay With Me Through The Night.
Dakota 'S/T' CANDY122 / Formed by the duo of Jerry Hludzik and Bill Kelly - both former members of early seventies rock act the Buoys who scored a huge million seller with the hit single 'Timothy' - Dakota signed a production deal with Chicago drummer Danny Seraphine and recorded an album for Epic Records as the Jerry-Kelly Band before switching to the Columbia label, this time going under the rather rockier handle of Dakota. Previously the band had operated with a more refined style but this time around they came out all guns blazing, sporting an AOR coat of armour and brandishing a much heavier, almost quasi pomp rock sound that invited comparison to the likes of Toto, Le Roux, Trillion and Styx. That they were great songwriters was an added bonus, making tracks such as 'If It Takes All Night', 'Crazy Love' and 'Restless' sound like hit singles in the making; a truly superlative slice of period perfect AOR. 24-bit remastering from original source tapes, two bonus tracks, 3,500 word essay about the making of the album, band involvement and additional photos spread out over a 16 page full colour booklet.
Track Listing: 1. If It Takes All Night 2. Crazy For Your Love 3. Possession 4. Can't Live Without It 5. One Step 6. Lady 7. Restless 8. Crazy Love 9. It Gets Easier Bonus Tracks: 10. The Higher You Rise11. Give Love Another Try.
Dakota 'Runaway' CANDY123 / Switching labels to MCA, Dakota would record their second album, now regarded as one of the high points of the 80s AOR genre. Titled 'Runaway', released in 1984, recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Chicago drummer Danny Seraphine, the album contains nine of the most celebrated melodic rock tracks ever recorded. It is the song writing of Hludzik and Kelly that makes an immediate impact; laced with copious melody, huge hooks and musical support from a long list of the best West Coast session players. 'Runaway' marks a high point in mid eighties melodic AOR. Radio friendly yet aggressive enough to punch home a message, the album set the tone for years to come, laying the foundations for the likes of Survivor, Mr Mister, Bon Jovi and many more. 24-bit remastering from original source tapes, two bonus tracks, 3,500 word essay about the making of the album, band involvement and additional photos spread out over a 16 page full colour booklet.
Track Listing: 1. Runaway 2. Tonight Could Last Forever 3. Heroes 4. When The Rebel Comes Home 5. Love Won't Last 6. Into The Night 7. Angry Men 8. If Only I'd Known It 9. Over And Over Bonus Tracks: 10. Believin' 11. More Love.

TAINTED NATION SIGN MANAGEMENT DEAL:
UK's modern hard rock band Tainted Nation have sign a worldwide management deal with Germany's Rock N Growl Management. Tainted Nation are: Pete Newdeck – Vocals (Eden's Curse, Grim Reaper, Killers, Steve Grimmett), Pontus Egberg – Bass (The Poodles, Lions Share, Zan Clan), Ian Nash – Guitar (Steve Grimmett, Lionsheart) and Mark Cross – Drums (Firewind, Outloud, Helloween, Kingdom Come). Rock N Growl and Tainted Nation are currently shopping the recording F.E.A.R., produced by Pete Newdeck and mixed/mastered by Dennis Ward, securing a record deal very soon, to get out live and start the talking!
Pete Newdeck, UK based drummer, singer and song writer, who is mostly known for his work with Eden's Curse and bands like Grim Reaper, Killers and Steve Grimmett, started writing songs with band mate and friend Ian Nash, also Steve Grimmett's guitar player in 2009.
Being on tour with Eden's Curse supporting Scandinavian band Stratovarious and Firewind in May 2009 on their UK tour, Pete and Mark Cross, drummer of Firewind at the time, also Outloud, ex – Helloween, Kingdom Come …), became close friends and talked about the idea of forming a new band, only this time with Newdeck as the lead singer!
Newdeck's vocal abilities were truly convincing and in spring 2010 Pontus Egberg, Bass player of Sweden's rock sensations The Poodles completed the line-up. Newdeck, Nash, Cross and Egberg, recorded their debut album in the UK and mixed and mastered it in Germany under the supervision of Dennis Ward, producer of many successful international artists and Tainted Nation was brought to life.
The four of them gave interviews to the British press and announced the new band at Firefest in Nottingham, UK on October 30. Tainted Nations' music can be described as a commercial, modern and powerful sounding rock mix.
A sample of Tainted Nation's new song Dare You, from their forthcoming F.E.A.R., is available here: soundcloud.com/rockngrowl/tainted-nation-dare-you-sample.
NO BROKEN HEART FOR IDOL PERFORMER:
Following a performance of White Lion's Broken Heart on American Idol this week, the band's frontman Mike Tramp spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about it:
American Idol finalist Colton Dixon had a hell of a time with this week's "songs from the year you were born" theme. The 20-year-old was born in 1991, which some may remember as that purgatorial period between the hair metal days of the late 1980s and grunge, which really took off the following year. As Dixon tells it, of the 100 or so songs he was presented with, he only recognized two and, despite Chris Daughtry's advice to pick something the audience knows, he went for the more obscure route: a modest hit by Danish-American hard rockers White Lion called "Broken Heart."
"I'm an emotional guy when it comes to music and I really like expressing my feelings in song -- it's one reason why I chose 'Broken Heart,'" Dixon told The Hollywood Reporter following Wednesday's show. "I had so much fun with it and loved the way it turned out."
So did judge Jennifer Lopez, who had never heard the song before, but complemented Dixon excitedly, calling the Tennessee native a "lover" and telling him he looked "pretty" when he sang. Steven Tyler, on the other hand, thought it was the wrong song for Dixon's "voice and passion" and added, "I didn't feel the song go anywhere."
But what did White Lion's own singer think of Dixon's performance? We reached rocker and co-writer Mike Tramp in his home country of Denmark where he told THR he had "nothing but praise and the absolutely the best to say about Colton, his voice and his passion for music. I enjoyed his performance and conviction of the song. Colton has my support all the way, he is a true star."
As for Tyler's comments, Tramp seemed baffled, especially since the two frontmen go back. Said Tramp: "What's wrong with Tyler? White Lion toured with Aerosmith for three months back in 1987 and we became friends. I would say he knows pretty well who White Lion is and that 'Broken Heart' is a key part in the foundation to the band and why we were successful in the 80s."
Tramp didn't cut Idol's backing band much slack, either. "It's a shame they couldn't lay down a better groove based on what they get paid or at least listen to the original better, even though they were doing their own version," he jabbed.
"Broken Heart," originally released in 1985 and then rerecorded in 1991, was the first song written for White Lion with American bandmate Vito Bratta shortly after Tramp arrived in the U.S. in 1983, and while it wasn't the band's highest charting single (1988's "When the Children Cry" reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100), it would, in a way, end up being their last. The band decided to split in September 1991, the same month Nirvana's Nevermind was released.
Today, Tramp is a solo artist, currently working on his sixth album.

DENNIS DeYOUNG SAYS YES TO STYX POSSIBILITY:
Classic Rock Revisited have a nice long interview with the always entertaining and insightful Dennis DeYoung. Within the interview Dennis states his desire to once again perform with Styx:
Jeb: After all the BS that has gone down, would you want to play with the band again?
Dennis: Here's the thing: I have never ever said one bad thing about the music that we created. You want to know why? It's because I don't believe it. I think the music we created is something to be proud of – some better than others as we've already discussed.
Jeb: So if Tommy or JY called you on the phone today and asked you to rejoin Styx as a touring and recording member of the band, would you join Styx again?
Dennis: Yes.

SECOND STEELHINE RELEASE FOR DAVE HENZERLING:
Guitarist Dave Henzerling (King Kobra, Big Cock) has released the second song from his new Steelshine project. Says Dave: "I've had this project (Steelshine) brewing in my head for some time. This new song is part of a ten song collection that I'll be releasing one-per-month, aggregating all into a complete album towards the end of the year. There's a lot of diverse stuff coming up, but I believe there's a cohesive thread weaving through all the songs. It's been a great privilege working with my good friend John Covington on drums again and with stellar vocalist Seann "Tarsha" Nicols. "Laughing With The Sinners" borrows heavily from my days listening to Led Zeppelin LPs, mixing some psychedelic Jimi Hendrix in for good measure ("Third Stone From The Sun"...?). Seann really kicks ass on this one. The lyrics are a by-product of my repressed Catholic upbringing, but with hopefully enough tongue-in-cheek entendre to not make things too intense. Hope you like it and thanks for listening."

ENVISION RADIO NETWORKS DEBUTS 'THE PIT':
(March 2012) – Envision Radio Networks® is proud to debut The Pit, a three-hour classic metal show that engulfs listeners in the metal scene from the '80s and early '90s. The Pit is hosted by Cutter, a staple in NE Wisconsin radio, who has spent 15 years on the air at Active Rock and Mainstream Rock radio. The Pit is produced by veteran Program Director Jason Hillery, who says: "When it comes to metal, Cutter knows what's up. He completely lives the lifestyle, and his knowledge of the scene is the best in the biz."
Each weekend, The Pit relives the glory days of classic metal and features music from the artists who built this explosive genre, including Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Metallica, Anthrax, Judas Priest, Korn, Slayer and Marilyn Manson. Cutter stops down from the nostalgia just long enough to highlight new metal in a weekly "Then and Now" segment and to interview the metal greats that helped mold the speaker-shredding musical movement, such as Rob Halford of Judas Priest, Dave Ellefson of Megadeth, and George Lynch of Dokken.
We found Envision Radio Networks® President and CEO Danno Wolkoff at the coffee maker, wearing a Metalshop t-shirt and refilling his Anthrax mug. When asked for comment, Danno said "What can I say? I love metal music. Whether it's Charlie Kendall, Full Metal Jackie and now Cutter from The Pit, if they're playing metal then I'm banging my head!" Danno also added that there are hidden messages to be found, if you play this quote backwards.
The Pit can be heard every Saturday night on Green Bay's 93Rock WRQE-FM. Stations interested in more information visit www.envisionradio.com or contact Melissa Bachtel at 216-831-3761 or melissab@envisionradio.com.
