Roger Hodgson Investigates Supertramp's Crime of the Century On 40th Anniversary
Dallas, TX - Dec 10, 2014. North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind Historys Greatest Rock Bands returns to the scene of Crime of the Century the breakout album from Supertramp.
Having formed under rather strange circumstances and sparking three name changes, Supertramp would wander through the early 70s progressive rock sound with two rather obscure albums, but it would be their third, Crime of the Century in 1974 that would produce the hit songs Bloody Well Right and Dreamer, and in so doing, forge the sound for Breakfast in America s worldwide #1 success five years later.
Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Roger Hodgson describes to InTheStudio program host Redbeard the creative mindset of the band during this period.
(Crime of the Century) was a magical period for Supertramp... the whole process of Crime was kinda us finding our feet as writers and as people. During that, we worked pretty closely together on School and Bloody Well Right in particular. From Crisis? onward we definitely wrote separately. It seemed that who we were, as people, became more defined.
