RAGE Sign With SPV/Steamhammer For 25th Album

Artist:

15 years after the arrival of their live recording From The Cradle To The Stage, German metal legend Rage have returned to Hanover imprint, SPV/Steamhammer. The band featuring frontman Peavy Wagner, guitarist Marcos Rodriguez and drummer Vassilios “Lucky” Maniatopoulos is currently busy working on new material for their upcoming album Wings Of Rage (working title), scheduled for release on 10 January 2020. A lead single will be out in September 2019, the second single to be lifted from the album is due to be released just before Christmas. Wings Of Rage is the group’s 25th studio album and will be recorded at the Soundchaser Studio in Burscheid. Peavy promises an offering featuring “the essence of our musical development, the kind of songs that we have stood for since the mid-eighties.”

Rage are planning to embark on a festival tour across Europe even before delivering their new material to present, together with the Lingua Mortis Orchestra, the full XIII album live for the first time. The show had its baptism of fire at the 70,000 Tons Of Metal Cruise, and a special highlight will be Rage’s appearance at the W:O:A at the beginning of August 2019. Towards the end of the year, Rage are scheduled to play lots of important winter festivals, before their major Wings Of Rage tour kicks off in February 2020.

“We’re really happy to be back with SPV/Steamhammer,” says Peavy Wagner“Since our very successful and enjoyable collaboration in the early 2000s we’ve known that we’re in expert hands with Olly Hahn and his team. Olly and I share a long-standing friendship, he will continue to promote Rage with his usual commitment.”

SPV/Steamhammer label manager Olly Hahn is delighted with his new signing: “It’s fantastic to have a band such as Rage on our roster again, their outstanding role in the development of German metal is undisputed. To be in a position to release their 25th studio album fills me with great pride and ambition.”

RIP PAUL RAYMOND From UFO

From PAUL RAYMOND's FB page, just a few minutes ago...

"Hi to all the fans and people who knew Paul! This is Sandra, Paul's life partner speaking: With a desperate and broken heart, fully in tears and pains that feel like they will kill me I have to tell you that my most beautiful and beloved darling Paul Raymond has passed away today. The doctors we're trying to reanimate him and with success at first but then his system shot down again and there was nothing more they could do for him, he died of a heart attack.

He absolutely enjoyed the last couple of weeks touring with UFO in the UK & Ireland and he was looking forward to the rest of this year's tour.

This photo was taken last Wednesday when we checked out of our last hotel before coming back to Germany!

I will always love him and I hope he will rest in piece until I'll see him again on the other side!!!

I love you so much Paul
Sandra"

RIP Paul, thanks for the music and farewell to another rock legend.

EUROPE Release New Single And Video, 'Turn To Dust' To Celebrate Record Store Day - Saturday, April 13

In celebration of what has become one of the most eagerly anticipated days for all true music lovers, Record Store Day on Saturday, April 13, EUROPE is not only releasing a new video for “Turn To Dust” from their critically acclaimed eleventh studio album, Walk The Earth, they’re also releasing an exclusive 7” vinyl of the single.

“Turn To Dust” is the third single from Walk The Earth, which was released October 20, 2017 on Hell & Back Recordings (Silver Lining Music).

It was recorded at famed Abbey Road Studios in London with Grammy® Award-winning producer Dave Cobb (Rival Sons, Shooter Jennings, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton). The Craig Hooper-directed clip can now be found on the band’s official YouTube.

“This song idea has been brewing for over ten years”, explains singer Joey Tempest. “When recording our latest album, Walk The Earth, in Abbey Road Studios, the inspiration finally kicked in to finish it. Originally an idea and labour of love of our keyboards player Mic Michaeli, the video was meant to touch on emotions and observations related to the Life and Death of your near and dear ones, the circle of life if you will, but it turned out to be much more than that as it follows the dramatic journey of the character taken from the artwork on our album cover.  Working with Craig Hooper and his animation team was a real pleasure, and after seeing their work on Deep Purple’s ‘The Surprising’, we knew we were dealing with true visionaries.  We’re very proud of the result, especially since it’s our first ever animated video.”

As director Craig Hooper continues, “A video like this is a very difficult thing to get right. The song is layered with emotion and meaning and to capture that in images is tricky to say the least. The band decided the only way to do the song justice was through animation, where images are limited only by your imagination and together we roughed out a treatment.  I then took that to Pete Rogers and Helen Pooler at Bait Studio in Cardiff, Wales, who are amongst the best in the world at this kind of thing and we’d already worked with them before for a video for Deep Purple. They brought on board artist Matt Rooke, who immediately ‘got it,' and between them they gave life to these ideas and images.  It wasn’t until the final frame was finished that we saw we had produced something special, something that I hope does a good enough job of representing such an amazing and heartfelt song. That’s up to viewers to decide."
