Dark Sarah biography
Dark Sarah is a Finnish cinematic metal band led by classically trained singer/songwriter Heidi Parviainen. After parting ways with Amberian Dawn in late 2012, she started to build up a new project called Dark Sarah. Dark Sarah´s music combines metal, film music and theatrical elements. The albums are concept albums telling a continuing story of a young woman called Sarah and her evil half - Dark Sarah and a mystical journey through three worlds. All the three albums have been crowdfunded by the fans on Indiegogo.

Dark Sarah´s first trilogue - The Chronicles

PART 1 - Middle World The debut album called "Behind the Black Veil" was released in Europe and North America in 2015 through Inner Wound Recordings. The first published song called "Save Me" introduces the listener to the main character Sarah, a young woman left at the altar by her husband. When she is on the verge of breaking down, something wakes up inside of her and she changes into another person; her meaner half, Dark Sarah. The album leads you through the psychological adventure of Sarah, who is hovering between her two personalities. Sarah´s thoughts are at best depicted in the dialogues (duets) with the guests - Fate: Manuela Kraller (ex Xandria), Queen of No Good: Inga Scharf (Van Canto) and Moon: Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica).

PART 2 - The Underworld  Dark Sarah released the second album called "The Puzzle" in November 2016 in Europe and North America  through Inner Wound Recordings. "The Puzzle" tells a story of Dark Sarah who has been sent to Underworld, an island where the banished souls live. To get off the island she needs to solve the puzzle and find three keys. On the island she meets different characters, roles sang by the guests:   Fate: Manuela Kraller (ex Xandria),  Evil Siren Mermaid: Charlotte Wessels ( Delain) and The Dragon: JP Leppäluoto (Charon, Northern Kings).

PART 3 - The Upper World  The new third album called "The Golden Moth" is the last part of "The Chronicles" - trilogue. JP Leppäluoto (The Dragon) has joined Dark Sarah´s official lineup for the album. The story tells about Dark Sarah leaving the Underworld with the Iron Eagles and entering the Upper World, a deserted waste land where the gods rule. The Dragon has sneaked into the new world by following Dark Sarah. First Dark Sarah thinks he wants to harm her, but soon they team up. Together they try to find their way to the gods that live on an island floating upon the desert.

In the roles of The gods you will hear The Iron Mask: Zuberoa Aznarez (Diabulus In Musica), White Beard: Marco Hietala (Nightwish) and Netta Skog (ex. Ensiferum) as Fortune Teller

SAY IT ISN'T SO: Exclusive interview with The Outfield's Tony Lewis

By Gerry Gittelson
Melodicrock.com Los Angeles correspondent

LOS ANGELES -- Tony Lewis, lead singer for well-remembered British classic-rock act The Outfield, is back.

Four years since the death of co-founder/guitarist John Spinks, who was the main songwriter, Lewis just released a new album Out of The Darkness, and he is also among the key figures in the multi-act Retro Futurama tour that is trekking across America from New York to California and lots of cities in-between.

'The response has been really good, really overwhelming -- the crowds still know all the words to the songs,' Lewis said. 'It's kind of weird being out there and not seeing John Spinks next to me, because we had been together so long, but yeah, it's going well.'

Smash-hit 'Your Love,' featuring that infectious opening line 'Josie's on a vacation far away,' was a No. 6 single on Billboard in the 1980s -- among other Outfield hits from triple-platinum debut Play Deep -- and Lewis still loves it, he said.

'That song kind of took on a life of its own. The crazy thing is, John Spinks wrote Your Love in like 20 minutes,' Lewis remembered. 'He was a great guitar player and a great songwriter.'

Lewis comes to Los Angeles on Saturday, July 28 at the famed The Wiltern Theatre on Wilshire Boulevard -- something the dark-haired singer is looking forward to because The Outfield rarely played in tinseltown.

'That wasn't our choice. We wanted to play in Los Angeles a lot more,' Lewis said.

A particularly memorable performance with The Outfield was an old concert at the open-air Greek Theatre with Starship.

'I remember Neil Diamond had just done like five headline nights at the Greek the week before,' Lewis said. 'That was a good night. We actually were on tour with Starship for six months, and I remember the Greek Theatre very well.'

Meanwhile, unlike other British groups, The Outfield did not hang out at the usual Los Angeles and New York spots, instead returning home to London when not on tour.

And while The Outfield's success was meteoric, as the group was never able to match its early success, the songs like 'Your Love,' 'Say It Isn't So,' 'Since You've Been Gone' and 'All The Love In The World' continue to be played on the radio.

As for Lewis, he is not quite ready to take his walk into the sunset.

'It has been quite a while actually, but it's nice to be back. It really is,' he said.

THE GUESS WHO Return With ‘The Future Is What It Used To Be’

Artist:
Categories:
News Feed

The Guess Who is responsible for countless rock classics, which still retain a major presence on rock radio - “American Woman,” “No Time,” “These Eyes,” etc. The band is set to return on September 14th with their latest album, ‘The Future IS What It Used To Be’, released via Cleopatra Records (available in CD, Vinyl, and Digital formats).

The band is Garry Peterson (Drums, Vocals), D# (Lead Vocals, Guitar, Piano), Will E. (Guitar, Harp, Vocals), Leonard Shaw (Keyboards, Flute, Sax, Vocals), and Rudy Sarzo (Bass, Vocals). The album’s first single, ‘Playin’ on the Radio’, will be released on July 17th. It can be heard on Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming services. Also featured on the album are several special guests including, Tommy Shaw (Styx) on vocals, Brent Fitz (Slash, Gene Simmons) percussion, Jim Kale (Guess Who founding member) and Michael Devin (Whitesnake) on bass guitar.

“The song is a celebration of the radio and what it meant to us all.”, explains D#. “Whenever a new great song hit the airwaves, the DJ would say a few words then off to the races! You’d tune in just to hear it over and over again. The character in the song could be any one of us as we move ahead in life. Great music has the innate power to transport you back to so many great memories in an instant. Music is healing. I see it AND feel it every single night in our audience.”

A music video for the track has been filmed (directed by Nigel Dick and shot in Las Vegas), and the song can be pre-ordered on iTunes (there is also a pre-order page set up on the official Cleopatra site [INSERT LINK]). The video can be viewed here:

"I love what I do, and I love trains and I love rock n' roll,” explains Nigel about the video. “So, I was honored to be asked to shoot The Guess Who. And when they told me they were available for a day in Vegas and by chance I stumbled on this wonderful rail-yard full of old engines just up the road from the strip - I was in heaven - and up to my axles in dust! It was a perfect day.”

And the band is pleased with the results. “My very first music video - who knew?!” says Garry. “Having the privilege of working with the legendary Nigel Dick, took me back to growing up in an era where music videos told a creative visual story that I always looked forward to seeing by my favorite artists,” adds Will. “This track was no exception, adding a colorful, action packed sequence to a great story.”

Garry Peterson: “I never dreamed that I would get a chance to record an album, after 40 years, in the same way, and with the same recording gear that we used in the 60s and 70s. This was truly a blessing for me and a humbling, cathartic experience for my musical soul. Thank you to all my bandmates, and everyone who helped make it a reality. I hope our fans enjoy it as much as I do.”

D#: “This all started when I wrote ‘Playing on the Radio’. Lyrically and musically, these songs are the soundtrack to my journey with The Guess Who over the last 10 years. This record was a joy and an honor to create. As version 3.0 of this iconic band, we had our work cut out for us. The challenge in this type of situation is always to be true to the heartroots of the original blueprint, as well as being able to journey onwards into an inspired future, incorporating the new energies that we bring to the experience, as you do in any family, generation after generation. I hope you enjoy the ride as much as we did.”

Will E: “I am honored to be a part of this chapter of The Guess Who. We specifically wrote and arranged the music to reflect what people have always loved about the band; great songs with big vocal driven choruses. We accomplished our own sound while maintaining the classic nature that makes The Guess Who an iconic band.”

Rudy Sarzo: “The Guess Who is part of the soundtrack of my life. It’s truly an honor to have performed on the new record. And I’m already looking forward to the next one.”

Leonard Shaw: “It has been quite the trip since I joined the Guess Who 25 years ago, but I am stoked about our new recording of original songs! These songs are fun to play live, and people are digging them!”

And soon, fans will be able to hear the latest work from this legendary band, upon the arrival of the rocking and inspired ‘The Future IS What It Used To Be.’

‘The Future IS What It Used To Be’ track listing:
1. When We Were Young
2. Runnin’ Blind
3. Talks All The Time
4. Baby Come Around
5. Haunted
6. In America
7. Playin’ On The Radio
