NEW BOOK, LONG LIVE QUEEN: ROCK ROYALTY DISCUSS FREDDIE, BRIAN, JOHN & ROGER, OFFERS UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE OF CLASSIC BAND
There is a reason why there have been countless books penned over the years about Queen and their legendary singer, Freddie Mercury - they were unquestionably one of the greatest and most universally beloved rock bands of all-time.
However, most of these books can be neatly filed into one of three categories - a recounting of the band’s history, an examination of the singer’s life story, or a collection of photographs.
Long Live Queen: Rock Royalty Discuss Freddie, Brian, John & Rogeris the first-ever book to be comprised solely of interviews conducted with renowned musicians, who discuss what they admire most about Queen, their favorite songs and albums, and other standout Queen-related memories (attending shows, meeting members, etc.) from throughout the years.
The result is a book that uncovers facts, insight, and analysis, and adds a new spin on what truly makes Queen the champions of the world.
Greg Prato is a Long Island, New York-based journalist, who has written for Rolling Stone, Classic Rock, and Vintage Guitar, and has authored such books as Shredders!: The Oral History Of Speed Guitar (And More), A Devil on One Shoulder and an Angel on the Other: The Story of Shannon Hoon and Blind Melon, and Grunge Is Dead: The Oral History of Seattle Rock Music. Long Live Queen is his 25th book overall.

ALTITUDES & ATTITUDE featuring ANTHRAX bassist Frank Bello and MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson, will release it's debut album, "Get It Out", on January 18, 2019 via Megaforce. The follow-up to ALTITUDES & ATTITUDE's 2014 self-titled EP was once again produced by Jay Ruston (ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER, STONE SOUR), with Jeff Friedl (A PERFECT CIRCLE, ASHES DIVIDE) returning behind the kit.
The official lyric video for the first single, "Out Here", made by by Melody Myers of Designed By Melody, can be viewed here:
The track features a guest appearance by ANTHRAX guitarist Jon Donais.
A kind of rock 'n' roll primal-scream therapy, "Get It Out" is the result of nearly four years of writing and recording sessions — and decades of touring, searching, striving and liiving. "I've learned that writing songs is very cathartic," says Bello, who has long made songwriting a daily practice. When ANTHRAX is off the road, he tries out new material at open mics around New York City. "A lot of these lyrics are about the inner struggles of my life, and about the rage that has built up from my life experiences — my brother's murder; my father abandoninng my family when we were young, leaving us with no funds to pay the bills," he says. "The ups and downs of life in general. I've always had an anger inside that music really helps me deal with."
"The album has the perfect title," Ellefson adds. "This is music that has been living inside of us for so long. There's a big musical part of each of us that doesn't get heard anywhere else."
Boasting a deep bench of guest stars, including Ace Frehley (ex-KISS; the track "Late"), Gus G. (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIREWIND), Nita Strauss (ALICE COOPER), Christian Martucci(STONE SOUR) and Satchel (STEEL PANTHER), the record also represents the fulfillment of a lifelong but little-known ambition for two uniquely gifted artists. As Bello puts it, "All I ever wanted to do was write good songs. I've always been a melody guy. I love hooks; I love catchy songs with a good riff." The ALTITUDES & ATTITUDE story begins in 2010, when Bello and Ellefson started touring together to lead bass clinics for the amp manufacturer Hartke. In need of backing tracks to support their demonstrations, they embarked upon some writing sessions and discovered their chemistry.
Bello and Ellefson debuted ALTITUDES & ATTITUDE in early 2014, with a self-titled three-song EP that earned the duo airplay on SiriusXM and an appearance on VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show". Those tracks — p;"Booze and Cigarettes", "Tell the World", "Here Again" — are includedd on "Get It Out" as bonus cuts, in remixed and remastered form.
Ellefson explains that "ALTITUDES & ATTITUDE could have only happened at this moment in time" — when the titans of thrash metal's "Big Fouur" are older, wiser, kinder and more open creatively. "When you're still climbing up the hill," he says, "there's no room for friendly competition. But once you've been to the top of the hill and you've seen the view — which all of the 'Big Four' have — it's okay to breakeak bread, hang out, have a drink." Or, in the case of ALTITUDES & ATTITUDE, delve into hard-rock songwriting in a profound way. "To hear other sides of us as artists — not just as muusicians and performers, but as artists."
ALTITUDES & ATTITUDE has several shows booked in early 2019, including on the ShipRocked cruise in late January.
MAGNUM New live album LIVE AT THE SYMPHONY HALL Out January 18th, 2019
New live single and lyric video LOST ON THE ROAD TO ETERNITY (feat. Tobias Sammet) Out November 09, 2018
Every music lover knows that the closing concert of a long tour is always a very special event. For weeks in advance the audience has been able to read up on how much the band has been celebrated in their previous concerts evening after evening and they are all the more excited to see their heroes with their own eyes. After having played those numerous concerts, the band is in excellent shape, perfectly attuned to one another and of course they want to outdo themselves with this final show. One of those tour finales took place on 19 April 2018 inside Birmingham`s Symphony Hall. It was there that the British rock band Magnum completed their Road To Eternity tour, which consisted of 42 concerts, and performed at the highest level.
'A truly magical evening', guitarist Tony Clarkin confirms, 'especially seeing as the show was a sort of home game for us, since all of us are from around the area between Birmingham and Wolverhampton, although during the last 20 years we have performed in Birmingham only once. In this respect it was a special moment for Magnum in more than one way.' According to the occasion, band members Tony Clarkin, vocalist Bob Catley, bassist Al Barrow as well as their two newest members keyboarder Rick Benton and drummer Lee Morris confidently played their way through a well-chosen mix of classics and newer songs, which rather successfully join the ranks of the band`s long tradition of atmospheric rock songs.
Star guest Tobias Sammet (Avantasia, Edguy), too, was swept along by this enthusiasm and the blazing interaction between the musicians and their Birmingham audience when he went on stage for 'Lost On The Road To Eternity' to lend energetic support to vocalist Bob Catley just like he did for the track's studio recording. Oh and just by the way: As a forerunner to this gripping live album 'Lost On The Road To Eternity' will hit the market as a digital single on November 9th, 2018.
All that's left to ask now is what makes LiveAt The Symphony Hall any different from former Magnum live recordings. 'Bob and I have been in this band for quite a while now, but we've never lost our passion for Magnum', Clarkin elaborates. 'We want to keep learning new things and are open to tips and advice. That's why we constantly revise our old songs, sometimes we play them a bit faster, sometimes a bit slower, we change a solo here and a part of the melody there. That way we not only keep our audience interested but also our own enjoyment in these pieces alive.' There isn't a more fitting way to describe the magic that happens on LiveAt The Symphony Hall.
"Live At The Symphony Hall" will be released through SPV/Steamhammer on January 18th, 2019 as 2CD DigiPak, 3LP Gatefold, download and stream.

Strong and positive reactions to their music spurred Scarpeccio and Tiberi on to take the first of many bold steps. The first was to invite drummer Uli Kusch(ex-Helloween, ex-Masterplan) to join the fold, who expressed interest in joining the band as a full member rather than just a touring drummer after hearing the music. A similar scenario played out with Symphony X bassist Mike LePond and LAST UNION was officially born.
The icing on the cake, however, was getting Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie to sing on three tracks.
LAST UNION is:
Elisa Scarpeccio - Vocals
Cristiano Tiberi - Guitars
Mike LePond - Bass (Symphony X)
Uli Kusch - Drums (ex-Helloween, ex-Massterplan)
Feat. James LaBrie on vocals (Dream Theater)
The quiet city of Tolentino in the Marche region of Central Italy not only boasts a rich historical background, it is also the place progressive metal band LAST UNION calls home. Founded by vocalist Elisa Scarpeccio, guitarist Cristiano Tiberi and keyboardist Claudio Feliziani in 2007, the band - originally known as Blazing Ice - embarked on their journey in the ppursuit of sharing their thoughts and feelings about life, and ultimately their art, with the world. With the assistance of professional session bassists and drummers, the trio established themselves on the Italian scene with a string of shows that helped them evolve and refine their craft. Over the course of 20 shows, LAST UNION presented songs that would eventually make the final cut for their debut album.
