FRONTLINE & HEARTWIND Out April 27 on AOR Heaven

German Melodic Rock label AOR Heaven will release two gems from their favourite genre on April 27! First, we have the debut album from Swedish Melodic Rockers HEARTWIND who will release their debut album “Higher And Higher”, secondly the classic “State Of Rock” album from the German group FRONTLINE, re-mastered by guitarist Robby Böbel, will be re-released in a ltd. edition with 1000 CD’s only and two bonus tracks.

With members from bands like Constancia, The Poodles, Token, Narnia and Essence of Sorrow, and with guest stars Nina Söderquist (Bjorn Skifs/Badrock, Champions of Rock a.o.), Janne Stark (Grand Design, Mountain of Power a.o.), and Tåve Wanning (The Voice, Adrenaline Rush, Peaches), new melodic hard rockers Heartwind may come across as one of those one off band projects, but nothing could be more far from the truth.

Heartwind is the story of two old friends, with a common love for classical melodic hard rock and AOR, that after fifteen years of friendship started to write the album they always had wanted to listen to themselves. Over a meal in downtown Stockholm, guitar player and songwriter Goran Engvall (former with Hitworks) and progressive/melodic keyboard player and fellow songwriter Mikael Rosengren (Constancia, Token, Scudiero), laid down the vision for what was yet to come. 15 original songs and 12 months later, Mikael started to pull some strings from his many fellow musicians in the Swedish hard rock scene since 20 years back. The two songwriters were amazed with the positive response they got on their first demos, from hard rock industry people & fans. It became evident that they were going to be able to attract some great talent to the album and the band. Believing in the importance of fellowship and a strong people fit when starting a band, Mikael and Göran started to dig in closest ground: Drummer Peter TrumPeter Svensson (Constancia, Faith) and singer Germán Pascual (Narnia, Dj Mendez, Essence of Sorrow), happily joined the band, and two key pieces of the puzzle came into place. With Peter and Germán onboard, the band knew they had both a powerful backbone and a phenomenal front man in place!

Germán invited his old friends, and former band mates, guitar virtuoso Martin Hall (Germán Pascual band) and bass wizard Germain Leth (The Poodles, Watchmen) to join the band and magic was about to happen. When also the very well respected Fredrik Folkare (Unleashed, Firespawn, Eclipse, Scudiero a.o.), accepted to team up to produce and mix, the band knew they had something special going. Fredrik’s contribution also as a musician on the album (guitar & bass) cannot be underestimated.
With classical albums like Hysteria (Def Leppard), 1987 (Whitesnake) and Escape (Journey) serving as inspiration, the intention from the band has been to get every single track to stand on its own two feet! Timeless melodic hard rock with a modern but still genuine sound!

After publishing a short teaser on Youtube, just before X-mas 2017, Heartwind stood ready as a band and was offered record deals by no less than three (!) different labels. Heartwind was happy to sign with AOR Heaven in early January and making an old dream come true.
The album is mixed and produced by Fredrik Folkare, Chrome Studios, and mastered by Erik Mårtensson, Blowout Productions (Eclipse, Ammunition, WET a.o).

FRONTLINE from Nürnberg, Germany belong to the pioneers of the German hard rock scene. Founded in 1989 by Robert Böbel (guitars, keyboards; EVIDENCE ONE, PHANTOM V), Stephan Kämmerer (vocals), Thomas Riess (bass) und Stephan Bayerlein (drums), their debut album “The State Of Rock” finally hit the stores in 1994 - a true classic which until today still is regarded as the finest album of the band by many. This record also meant the breakthrough for the guys in Japan where they reached # 10 in the rock sales charts. Straightly after the release, FRONTLINE went on tour in Europe and had the honour to open for various great acts such as GOTTHARD, CRASH TEST DUMMIES, BONFIRE, TYKETTO and CASANOVA.

In 1995,  FRONTLINE pulled out the full acoustic album "Two Faced“. However, personal differences within the band followed and ended up in the departure of Stephan Bayerlein and Thomas Riess in 1996. They were replaced by Thomas "Hutch“ Bauer (Bass) und Rami Ali (Drums; EVIDENCE ONE, SHYLOCK). Still in the same year, FRONTLINE signed a record deal with a new label, recorded the single “Man In Motion” and the album “Heroes” which though officially only saw the light of day in Japan since their European label went out of business.

One year later, the band decided to start working on another new album which is well known under it’s working title “Heroes II” amongst the fans but never saw a release. Due to a complicated contractual situation many labels feared to contact FRONTLINE during the following years and the band went back to the underground again until Georg Siegl at AOR Heaven finally showed his interest in the band in the year 2000 and signed them for the first time. Just one month later, the album “Right Attitude” was released which can be regarded as a sort of compilation out of both “Heroes” albums and “Right Attitude” became a huge success for the band again! The recordings for their 2002 output “Against The World” started the same year, and this album finally re-established FRONTLINE on the international hard rock market.

Throughout the months after the release of the best of compilation “Almost Unreleased” (2003) which also featured a couple of rare tracks for the fans, FRONTLINE again went into the studio and started to work on a new album called “The Seventh Sign” (2004). In the year 2006, the last studio album the German group called “Circles” was released.
On April 27th 2018, AOR Heaven now will re-issue the rare and out of print album “The State Of Rock” with two bonus tracks as a limited edition of 1000 copies. The album was  re-mastered by guitarist Robby Böbel.

Introducing VOLSTER

Artist:

Swedish Melodic Hard Rock Band, VOLSTER (feat. ex-members of Masquerade and House Of Heavy) will release their debut album ‘Perfect Storm‘ on April 20th via Rock Of Angels Records.

The album includes 12 tracks and is produced by VOLSTER, co-produced and mixed by Max Norman (Ozzy Osbourne, Lynch Mob, Armored Saint, Lizzy Borden, Megadeth, Y&T) and mastered by Thomas “Plec” Johansson (Soilwork, Onslaught, Armageddon, Degradead, Dynazty) at The Panic Room Mastering.

Henrik Lundberg says: “Brought up with music from the 70th and 80th the roots are deep. So it’s no surprise our music is built from these glorious decades even if we also involve more modern flavours. The main ingredient is the melody, what else makes a great song other than great vocals and interesting riffs of course. With members having been active in the music business for decades now is the time to make all our music dreams come true, playing the music we love. VOLSTER is melodic hard rock as it’s supposed to be.

Swedish rockers Captain Black Beard signs with Melodic Rock Records

Swedish rockers Captain Black Beard have signed with Melodic Rock Records for the release of their new studio album ‘Struck By Lightning’, coming worldwide April 25.

The first single and video from the album “All The Pain”, will debut this Friday (March 9).

The new album sees a switch in musical direction for the band, unleashing a wave of powerful new anthemic, pure melodic rock songs.

“It’s an honor to work with such enthusiastic champions of our genre.” says bassist Robert Majd.

In the summer of 2017 Captain Black Beard entered the studio to write a new chapter in the bands history. Robert Majd and Christian Ek along with new lead singer Liv Hansson as well as producer Jona Tee (keyboardist in H.E.A.T) pretty much reinvented the band’s sound.

The album that was recorded is called ‘Struck By Lightning’ and features a fresh dose of high energy melodic rock. From the instant catchiness of the opening track “All The Pain” to the heavy closing of “Straight Out Of Hell”, the band combines their AOR influences with their hard rock roots.

“This is a tremendous album and I’m really excited for the guys,” states MRR owner Andrew McNeice. “They’ve created a great new sound that brings together everything I love about music – killer songs, big production and hooks and harmonies everywhere. This album is going to put the guys on the map.”

Captain Black Beard was formed in 2009. Their self-titled debut album was named one of the "Albums Of The Year" by legendary journalist Geoff Barton of Classic Rock. The follow-up "Before Plastic" featured guest appearances by Bruce Kulick (KISS, Grand Funk Railroad) and Mats Karlsson (220 Volt). In 2016 the band released "It's a Mouthful" and toured with Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen, Deep Purple), Robin Beck, House Of Lords and performed at the festival Hard Rock Hell AOR for the second time in their career.

A release party will be held in Stockholm, Sweden on the 9th of May. Check out the bands website or facebook-page for all the latest news: www.facebook.com/CaptainBlackBeardBand / www.CaptainBlackBeard.net

‘Only Human' is the fifth studio album by UK melodic rock stalwarts VEGA. The band self-produced the record but teamed up with legendary Canadian musician and producer Harry Hess (of Harem Scarem) for the mixing and mastering to bring their fans another gem of a release.

If you're very lucky, there may be occasions in your life when you find a band and you realise you’ve discovered something a bit special. We've all heard groups who release 'great' albums, but VEGA certainly make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and provide butterflies in the stomach excitement when all fans of modern melodic rock listen to their new records for the first time.

The twelve songs that comprise 'Only Human' truly see VEGA take their songwriting and musicianship to the next level.

Following the release of their last album, 2016’s ‘Who We Are’, VEGA remained busy promoting it until returning to the studio to record ‘Only Human’. They toured with Magnum and Dan Reed Network, appeared at festivals such as Steelhouse, Planet Rock’s Winter’s End, Hard Rock Heaven AOR5, Nordic Noise, Amplified and Rockingham, plus a headlining slot at the Melodic Rock Night in Padova (Italy) and UK and European tours in their own right.

JUDAS PRIEST Bring 'Firepower' To New Album Out This Week

It is not often that fans of heavy metal get the opportunity to hear new music from Judas Priest and meet these heavy metal legends. But soon, lucky fans will have it both ways. On March 2nd, a lyric video for a NEW standout track from the album, “Never The Heroes,” will be unveiled - a song which can purchased now via http://smarturl.it/Firepower. And on March 19 at 6:00 P.M at the Sony Square NYC (25 Madison Avenue in New York City), the band will be signing copies of their brand new album, ‘Firepower.’

As the band explains, “’Never The Heroes’ is about the courageous men and women that enter war - never trained to be heroes but becoming heroic due to their actions and sacrifices doing their duty for their people and country. It resonates as there is a hero in all of us and in times of struggle we can be strong and united - conquering our own challenges and helping others - it's a traditional Priest mid-tempo powerhouse, with a powerful message!”

Please check out the lyric video here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0J3u3_800c

Set for release on Friday, March 9th, 2018 via Epic Records - ‘Firepower’ is comprised of fourteen tracks of pure and highly inspired metal. And to mark the occasion Priest (singer Rob Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis) has reunited with producer Tom Allom (the man behind the board for all of the band’s releases from 1979-1988, including such stellar classics as ‘Unleashed in the East,’ ‘British Steel,’ ‘Screaming for Vengeance’ and 'Defenders of the Faith') and with Grammy Award-winning producer Andy Sneap also helping to raise the sonic bar even higher.

“Tom Allom has got this classic metal thing,” explains Halford. “And Andy is a bit more of a ‘modern metal producer’ but his thinking is a little bit different to Tom’s. And I think to get this balance between that classic old school metal to what Andy’s world is was just a remarkable coalescence.” “Tom Allom has been with us since 1979, so his knowledge of ourselves and our music in general is immense,” adds Hill. And according to Travis Priest returned back to a recording method that worked incredibly well on the band’s earlier classics - “We went back to the organic way of recording where it’s all of us in a room and we got to play together.”

With the impending arrival of ‘Firepower’ and its ensuing tour (which kicks off on March 13th in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania), THE PRIEST IS BACK!

UNIVERSE INFINITY Sees The Return Of Andreas Eklund

Friday, April 13, 2018
Categories:
News Feed

UNIVERSE started in 1982 in Upplands Väsby, Sweden, where hard rock ruled the streets. The members hailed from several different local bands. After leaving the band Moon, lead guitarist Michael Kling, who founded the band WC in the late 70's with John Norum, became one of UNIVERSE’s founding members. Bassist Hasse Hagman, who played in Joey Tempest's first band, along with drummer Anders Wetterström and guitarist Per Nilsson, all came from the band Twilight. Once UNIVERSE got their hands on keyboard player Fredrik Kriström and singer Kjell Wallen, the band was complete. They played diligently for a couple of years all over Sweden, opening for Nazareth, among many other gigs. In 1985, the band released its self-titled debut album with songs like "Rollin’ On", "Stories from the Old Days", and "Strong Vibrations". In 1986, Kjell Wallen left the band on good terms following creative differences and was subsequently replaced by Janne Åström. With Janne as the new frontman, the band focused fully on a follow-up to their debut album. Several demos were recorded but never ended up in the right hands. The band dissolved in early 1988 and then had a short reunion for a final show in the ice hall in Upplands Väsby later that year.

The band members went their separate ways, each showing up here and there in different contexts with connections to music. Everyone maintained occasional contact and eventually Per Nilsson reached out to the others to see if they were interested in playing together again. In 2002, all the members met up together for the first time in 14 years. They immediately knew they wanted to play again, and became convinced that the old material still had potential. Everyone agreed that a new album had to be released, but also that they were being pulled in different directions. For several years they kept continuous contact, waiting for the time when recording an album became inevitable. At first, UNIVERSE lacked a singer, but suddenly one day he was just there. Andreas Eklund (exHouse Of Shakira) became the new front man, his narrative lyrics and tasteful melodies opening the door to another dimension, so the band could take a bigger step into the galaxy. Now, finally, UNIVERSE is back as UNIVERSE INFINITY with “Rock Is Alive”, a powerful album that is a tribute to the music of the 70’s and 80's, and to their youth in Upplands Väsby. “Rock Is Alive” was produced by Michael Kling and Per Nilsson at Kling Studios, and mixed and mastered by Stefan Helleblad; drums were recorded in Standstraight Studio One Scandinavia. The artwork was created by Sylvain Lucchina at Razor Images.

Line-Up: Michael Kling – Lead Guitar; Andreas  Eklund – Vocals; Hasse Hagman – Bass; Freddy Kriström – Keyboard; Anders Wetterström – Drums; Per Nilsson - Guitar
