UK rock band, Diamond Black (feat. The Sisters Of Mercy Guitarist Ben Christo), have released their debut single and music video for the song 'Sorrow'. The video can be viewed here:
‘Sorrow’ is produced and mixed by Jaani Peuhu. Mastering by Minerva Pappi / Waudio. The superb cover artwork features the amazing Nange Magro Designer with art by Flashbang Studio.
Intense, sensual and arcane, Diamond Black are a dark-rock quartet from Camden, London, UK. Founded by Ben Christo (guitarist of The Sisters of Mercy) and Finnish singer J.I. Turunen, Diamond Black bring you crushing riffs, mesmerizing electronica and cinematic choruses; a dark fusion of irreverence, intrigue and isolation.
Diamond Black is:
Ben Christo - Guitars, Backing Vocalss (The Sisters Of Mercy)
J.I. Turunen - Lead Vocals
Adam Lightspeed - Bass, Backing Vocals
Jan-Vincent Velazco - Drums
Additional:
Jaani Peuhu - Synths, Backing Vocalss, Production
Michal Akrabi - Backing Vocals
Inspired by the heaviness of Katatonia, the passion of Depeche Mode, the haunting soundscapes of Type O Negative and the anthemic melody of The Cult, Diamond Black weave tangled tales of desire, decadence and devotion.
Turunen’s powerful vocal is equal parts brooding, fragile, venomous and soaring, delivered with distinctly Scandinavian melancholy, whilst Christo’s unforgiving riffs and emotive lead-lines provide a dramatic backdrop. Add a thunderous, dynamic rhythm section, courtesy of premier UK rockers Jan-Vincent Velazcoand Adam Lightspeed and encase it all in the cutting-edge darkwave/electro-rock production of Finnish visionary Jaani Peuhu (Swallow the Sun) Best Finnish Album of 2015, To/Die//For, Iconcrash) and you’ve got the explosive and evocative sound of Diamond Black.
“Powerfully dark atmospheres, riffs straight from the old school of rock" choruses that burrow into youur brain, never to re-emerge” ~ Metal Hammer UK
The Professionals are back! Formed from the ashes of the Sex Pistols, the band is ready to release the brand new studio album What In The World, available October 27 via The End/Automaton Records. The album is available now for pre-order on digital, CD and LP formats. Exclusive pre-order bundles are also available on Pledge Music.
Produced by Dave Draper, and co-produced by Paul Cook and Tom Spencer, What In The World bristles with conviction and finds The Professionals in electrifying form, delivering some of the most ballsy, honest and downright brilliant songs of their career. They are joined on this album by a stellar cast of guest guitar players including original member Steve Jones (who plays on three tracks). as well as Duff McKagan (Guns 'n' Roses), Mick Jones (The Clash), Phil Collen (Def Leppard), Marco Pirroni (Adam & The Ants), Chris McCormack (3 Colours Red) and Billy Duffy (The Cult).
This energetic album features 10 finely crafted songs, full of rock'n'roll attitude - including a tribute to Lemmy and Bowie entitled "Going, Going, Gone," before closing with "Monkeys," the Darwinian pop at world leaders. All the basic tracks were put down at Zak Starkeys studio, just outside London and were finished at Tower Studios in Pershore, while the guests recorded in various studios, both in the US and UK. The resulting album is an aural treat, with no calculated image or reliance on nostalgia.
The Professionals have created a truly honest album and it is the sound of a band at the top of their game, which is an all too rare commodity in today's world. Look no further than the first two singles "Rewind" and "Good Man Down" that accompany the album pre-order. The lyric video for "Good Man Down" released in September, and is followed by the official music video for "Rewind," which premiered this week with Billboard. About the new song, Paul Cook explains: "'Rewind' is an ode to short term memory loss. You get to an age where everything's familiar but you don't quite know why. Kind of comforting, kind of scary."
Both tracks are available now for streaming and for instant download. You can watch the videos below.
01. Good Man Down (feat. Steve Jones & Billy Duffy)
02. Let Go (feat. Phil Collen)

CAUSE & EFFECT: MOTLEY CRUE ~ AUTHOR CHRIS AKIN EXPLORES THE IMPACT OF THIS MONUMENTAL YET TUMULTUOUS RELEASE ON MOTLEY CRUE FANS
CLEVELAND - Acclaimed rock critic and controversial host of The Classic Metal Show Chris Akin has authored his latest book CAUSE & EFFECT: MOTLEY CRUE due November 24.
"MOTLEY CRUE '94 has been the subject of conversation with so many people in my life," states Chris Akin "since the day it was released back in March of '94. That has never waned. Even after all this time, there are people with such hard opinions of it one way or the other. For me, writing CAUSE & EFFECT: MOTLEY CRUE allowed me to share thoughts and feelings about this monumental release with a larger portion of people that still care after all this time. Whether it's remembering personal stories that many of these songs had or revisiting the history of MOTLEY CRUE in their most tumultuous moment, CAUSE & EFFECT: MOTLEY CRUE allowed me to share the experience of one of my all-time favorite releases with the masses."
Chris Akin continues his series of cause/effect books. "The first was about Metallica's BLACK album, said Akin. "The other titles I'm working on are about Judas Priest's TURBO, Megadeth's RISK and Nine Inch Nails' THE FRAGILE. I wanted to write these to profile releases that changed something dramatically. With the BLACK album, it changed not only Metallica's fanbase, but how heavy music was played on the radio. With the second book in the series MOTLEY CRUE, it divided the fanbase, as well as leading all their contemporaries down a path that failed nearly all of them. That said, with this album, it's my favorite thing that says "MOTLEY CRUE" on the cover. I think the public just got it wrong with this one."
Pre-Orders for CAUSE & EFFECT: MOTLEY CRUE are available in various packages:
LA Guns are vocalist Phil Lewis and guitarist Tracii Guns. Full stop. Both parties have trialled separate line-ups without the other, but output has never matched what these guys can do together.
I used to adore LA Guns. Vicious Circle, Cocked & Loaded, Waking The Dead, Hollywood Vampires…all genre classics!
But recent years have seen the band deliver some pretty suspect releases and you really don’t know quite what a new album might deliver these days.
With Missing Piece there are still some missing pieces. Phil sounds a fresh and vibrant as always, Tracii is shredding like a mofo, but the sound here leans towards a loose and trashy punk vibe, with a pretty ordinary production effort.
The album moves fast, the riffs come just as quickly and there’s attitude overload, but essentially, we’re talking about half an album of decent songs and half forgettable ones, plus a questionable production quality.
What I’m liking is the rapid fire All the Same to Me, Speed; the groovy Kill It Or Die (shit chorus though) and the ballads Crystal EyesChristine and the more epic The Flood's the Fault of the Rain.
Cool attitude, great energy, but poor production and too many fillers where it doesn’t sound like too much time has been spent on the writing process. I’m still up in the air over buying a hard copy for my LA Guns collection. It’s already missing a few albums due to similar QC problems, so my OCD won’t kick in too badly.
Frontiers Music Srl is proud to announce a new project, Eisley/Goldy, who will release their debut album, “Blood, Guts and Games” on December 1, 2017. The first track from the upcoming release, “The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter” is out today!
Singer David Glen Eisley and guitarist Craig Goldy (Resurrection Kings, exRonnie James Dio), both formerly of GIUFFRIA, have joined forces again in EISLEY/GOLDY, a partnership which sees the two artists bring back the signature sound that launched their careers in the early ‘80s.
As David Glen Eisley stated around October 2014, after several years on hiatus after his 2001 solo effort, “My dear friend of many years, guitar virtuoso Craig Goldy made a surprise visit up to my house, knocked on the door and simply stated ‘Enough of this my friend…time for you to get up off your ass and come back to work!’ He was so adamant, I relented and agreed to join him on a small stage in the San Diego area. It all seemed to go well and the next thing I knew a year later, we were in Nottingham, England playing together again in front of a crowd. We had been discussing writing some material for a potential album during this past year. But where to take it, assuming we were to actually do one? That left a big question, but a simple answer. The BEST Rock & Roll label left on the planet that understood who we were and who we are today. That was Frontiers and our friends Serafino & Mario!! A deal was struck and we both are happy to say "Eisley/Goldy" will be bringing you a new record in 2017. Funny how things happen in this crazy world of Rock & Roll!”
Of first single to be released from the album, Goldy says "the song, "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" is a song that I know is very close to Dave's own heart.....because of a very special loved one, who is still in search mode for that "one and only", yet still gets kicked around during that quest! For me....this song can indeed be about anyone who is searching for a special someone....or it can also be about the internal search we all feel at times while trying to uncover what special purpose or calling in life we are on this planet for....and that search, though originally generated from the heart, can often become as treacherous as a hunter in the wild!!!"
Eisley/Goldy are joined on the release by drummer Ron Wikso, whose resume includes The Storm, Foreigner, Cher, David Lee Roth, and more. Original Giuffria bassist Chuck Wright also plays on a few tracks on the album and original Giuffria drummer Alan Krigger is featured in "The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter" music video!
