MRR Dives Back Into The Archives With ROBIN & JUDITH RANDALL & MARK BAKER

Categories:
News Feed

It is with great enthusiasm that I can announce the next participant in MelodicRock Records’ ambitious career spanning ‘From The Archives’ box set series. The first set, the Brett WalkerLast Parade’ 6-Disc retrospective was been met with fantastic critical and fan response and is approaching selling out.

That project took nearly a year to put together and the next release is likely to be just as big and just as comprehensive.

I’m talking about the legendary songwriting duo of Robin & Judith Randall.

Judith Randall sadly passed away in 2002, but Robin has kept writing and together the Randall’s have been responsible for some of AOR’s most memorable songs.

The classic Mark Free ‘Long Way From Love’ and both Venus & Mars’ albums to start with, plus songs for some of the great names of melodic rock – FM, Starship, James Christian, Roxus & Khymera to name a few.

Robin & Judith Randall wrote a staggering amount of songs, with many of the demos featuring vocals from Marcie Free, James Christian and Diana DeWitt, all of which have agreed to be part of this set.

Robin has already delivered a big batch of songs and is currently converting more DATs to digital with the help of Robert Tepper. She has reached out to many of her co-writers and vocalists and I’m excited to announce that writers like Tony Sciuto, Jeff Law & Aina have expressed interest in being involved.

Others have also been approached and news on that and other progress reports will follow in the weeks ahead. There is no planned release date at this stage, so stay tuned for updates.
JK Northrup is on standby to begin the restoration and remastering process.

Robin had this to say about the project: “I am thrilled to be bringing songs from the vault to light, to hear great voices and sounds again and to create new ones as well. My mother Judithe would've have been so over the moon about this!!”

There are many many songs previously unreleased and never before heard, so AOR fans are going to love this!

MRR is equally pleased to announce one other archive release, which will officially be announced in the next few days.

Mark Baker is the man behind the iconic Signal album as well as many other songs including tracks for 38 Special, Paris Black, Triumph and Boulevard.

Several unreleased Mark Baker songs featuring Mark Free on vocals from the 80s have been traded online for years and MRR is thrilled to be able to bring one disc of this material to light in July. The tracks come from DAT masters and will be remastered by JK Northrup once again.

Release details coming right up!

More archive projects are in development. Stay tuned for updates.

RIP ERIC MOORE (The Godz)

Artist:

Eric Moore, the lead singer of local hard rock band, The Godz, died Friday. He was 67.

According to a statement from the band, Moore had been battling bladder cancer and died the day before the band’s annual Godzfest event in Zanesville. The performance was set to be Moore’s last.

In a statement, The Godz management team said Moore was known for being a “beer-drinking, pistol carrying, blue collar rock-n-roller and the leader of the Godz fans worldwide.”
“Eric Moore was the lead singer of the Godz (sic) here on earth and he has now embarked on a triumphant return to the one and only God in heaven,” the statement said.
Moore had announced his diagnosis with Stage 4 bladder cancer in April and had planned on doing several performances to thank his fans, culminating in the show scheduled for Saturday at The Barn in Zanesville.

The Barn said in a social media posting the event would go on with memories being shared of Moore and The Godz.
