JOE SATRIANI – JOINS TOGETHER WITH G3 TOUR MATES – AND FRIENDSNDS–CARLOS SANTANA, NEAL SCHON & MORE
TO RAISE MONEY FOR NORTH BAY FIRE RELIEF IN SONOMA COUNTY

Satriani's G3 Tour Now - features Satriani, John Petrucci (Dream Theater) & Phil Collen (Def Leppard)

New Album – What Happens Next – OUT NOW

(San Francisco, CA) January 12, 2018 -  World-renowned guitarist, and Bay-Area resident, JOE SATRIANI announces a fundraising auction, set to launch this Sunday, January 14th, at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA to benefit the North Bay Fire Relief in Sonoma County.  The online auction will be live for one week, with bidding ending on January 21st (http://g3tour.com/norcal-fire-relief)

The auction will feature autographed collectible guitars from JOE as well as his G3 Tour-mates (John Petrucci & Phil Collen), in addition to guitars signed and donated by fellow Bay Area Residents: Carlos Santana and Neal Schon.  Other items up for auction include a Huey Lewis signed harmonica and a Bill Gibson signed drumhead, along with signed posters and memorabilia from past G3 tours.  Net proceeds will go to North Bay Fire Relief, including UndocuFund, directly assisting the affected undocumented residents of Sonoma County. The auction is being curated and administered by Bananas at Large.

SATRIANI has lived in the Bay Area for over 30 years and considers it home.  His longtime manager, Mick Brigden, was directly affected by the fire as his entire neighborhood was destroyed, although thankfully, his house was spared.  Raising funds to support those affected in their own backyard is important to the multi-Grammy nominated guitarist.  SATRIANI says, 'This special auction for North Bay Fire Relief in Sonoma County is close to my heart.  So many of my friends and coworkers are still in need after the devastating wildfires. Please join me and my musical buddies in raising some funds to provide some love and care. Thank you!'

SATRIANI's 16th solo album, What Happens Next, was released today (January 12, 2018) on Sony/Legacy Recordings.  His longtime touring entity, G3, opened last night in Seattle featuring Dream Theater's John Petrucci and Def Leppard lead guitarist, Phil Collen, joining SATRIANI.  The G3 tour will conclude on February 25 in Milwaukee, WI.

G3 U.S. TOUR SET TO LAUNCH ON JANUARY 11

Tour features Satriani, John Petrucci (Dream Theater) & Phil Collen (Def Leppard)
'Beyond the Supernova' Documentary by ZZ Satriani to Premiere at Mill Valley Film Festival – October 14

(San Francisco, CA) September 18, 2017 – World-renowned guitar virtuoso, JOE SATRIANI, announces the release of his 16th solo album, What Happens Next, set for release, January 12, 2018 on Sony/Legacy Recordings.  Just a day prior to the album release, SATRIANI revives his G3 tour entity, inviting Dream Theater's John Petrucci and Def Leppard lead guitarist, Phil Collen to join him.  The G3 tour launches on January 11 in Seattle, WA and continues across the U.S. before winding up on February 25 in Milwaukee, WI.  There is a special tour pre-sale promotion giving fans the opportunity to buy concert tickets with the new album as well as VIP packages.  Visit  https://lnk.to/WHN for more information, pre-sale opportunities and specific market pre-sale and on-sale dates.
The new, instrumentally electrifying album features a power trio of legendary status; SATRIANI on guitar and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee bassist Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple/Black Country Communion) and drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), the latter reuniting with SATRIANI for the first time since their work in the supergroup Chickenfoot. SATRIANI is once again joined by producer/engineer/mixer Mike Fraser, his frequent collaborator over the last 20 years, on What Happens Next. Fraser is well-known for recording/mixing every AC/DC album since 1990's The Razors Edge along with his classic works with SATRIANI going back to the release of Crystal Planet in 1998.
These new tracks literally vibrate the soul with an energy rarely found these days. From the dynamic opening track, 'Energy', to the majestic crunch of 'Thunder High On The Mountain', and the easy, sensual cords of 'Smooth Soul'. This unparalleled rock-rhythm section gives What Happens Next a depth of groove that sets it apart from SATRIANI's other work.

Since its debut in 1996, SATRIANI's G3 tour has featured the world's greatest guitarists (everyone from Steve Vai and Eric Johnson to Steve Lukather and Robert Fripp) and has become a consistent concert hall sell-out attraction in the U.S., South America, Europe, Australia and Japan. 'I could say that I'm surprised at the durability of G3 and how much it's grown, but in a way I'm not,' SATRIANI says with a laugh, 'I think part of its charm and its mojo is in the chemistry of having three top guitarists share what they do on stage. It's fun, it's unpredictable, it's wild – it's everything you could want in a shoow.'
In addition to this new album and exciting tour news, a new documentary 'Beyond the Supernova' shot by SATRIANI's filmmaker son, ZZ, makes its debut at the Mill Valley Film Festival this October.  The tour documentary chronicles Joe, along with his band and crew, on their last 'Shockwave Supernova' tour throughout Europe and Asia.
Satriani's Strange Beautiful Music: A Musical Memoir first released in May 2014 will now be available in paperback.  Pre-orders are available now with the official release on November 7, 2017.  The paperback version includes a new chapter focusing on SATRIANI's last album, Shockwave Supernova. Read an excerpt from the new chapter HERE.

For two decades, the guitar virtuoso has traveled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star 'G3' guitar extravaganza.  SATRIANI's studio and live recordings have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide to date and of his many solo albums, two have gone platinum and four others went gold, with 15 Grammy nominations between them.  His side project, Chickenfoot, featuring former Van Halen front man Sammy Hagar, former bassist Michael Anthony, and Red Hot Chili Peppers' drummer Chad Smith saw their debut album certified gold and their second studio album debuted at #9.

DEF LEPPARD's LEAD GUITARIST – PHIL COLLEN – JOINS JOE SATRIANI'S G4 CAMP
PENS NEW SONG – "YO TO JOE (G4 Anthem)" - IN TRIBUTE TOO THE GUITAR VIRTUOSO

(Los Angeles,CA) – Soon after Def Leppard'ss PHIL COLLEN was invited to join the annual G4 Experience, led by guitar great JOE SATRIANI, he was moved to write an instrumental in homage to the guitar master.
€œI was honored when Joe invited me to join the G4 experience and I decided to write and record an instrumental track called "Yo 2 Joe" as a tribute to him. I was further honored when he played on the track with me because he is such an amazing artist.  I wanted the track to reflect the vibe of his influential Surfing with the Alien album. Thirty years later, he continues to wow generations of guitar players and music fans alike.€œ
The track will be released as a single on July 21 and will be given free to those attending the camp.  Pre-orders for the track begin today:   flyt.it/yo2joeiTunes

Also joining SATRIANI and COLLEN at this year's G4 Experience: Surfing with the Alien 30th Anniversary are Warren DeMartini [Ratt], and Paul Gilbert. The event takes place on July 24-28 at Asilomar Center in Carmel, CA.
For its fourth installment, the G4 Experience enjoys a game-changing and historic first. The camp will celebrate the writing, recording, and performance of SATRIANI's seminal GRAMMY Award-nominated, platinum-selling 1987 epic, Surfing with the Alien—one of the most succcessful instrumental guitar albums ever made. Recognizing the record's 30th anniversary, campers will enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pull back the curtain on the album with the visionaries behind the music.
SATRIANI will be joined by his original live band during the record's tour cycle, Stu Hamm and Jonathan Mover, return for the first time since 1995 for the evening's performances.

JOE SATRIANI's 'Shockwave Supernova' To Explode July 24

Artist:
Friday, July 24, 2015
Categories:
News Feed

Legendary guitarist, JOE SATRIANI, announces plans to release his 15th solo studio album, Shockwave Supernova, on 24th July, making him one of the first to utilise the new "Friday, Global Release Day" for music.
It would be easy to call Shockwave Supernova a "masterpiece" or "the last word on guitar" from the world’s most commercially successful solo guitar performer. Satch, however, sees it much more personally. He has consistently advanced the artistry of the instrument; an effort he dedicated himself to on 18th September, 1970, the day his idol Jimi Hendrix died.

Recorded late last year at Skywalker Sound in Lucas Valley, CA, Satriani assembled the dynamic trio of world-class musicians who had recently been part of his global tour; renowned keyboardist and guitarist Mike Keneally, a veteran of several Satch outings and recordings; along with drumming whiz Marco Minnemann and bass extraordinaire Bryan Beller. "I couldn’t have asked for a better band to help bring these songs to life," says Satriani.
The album also sees Satriani once again joining forces co-producer and engineer John Cuniberti. Satch and Cuniberti share production on Shockwave Supernova, as they have on numerous albums – their shared history dates back to the guitar star’s 1986 debut album, Not Of This Earth and its follow-up, the platinum-selling, critically acclaimed, Surfing with the Alien.

Minnemann and Beller handle the bulk of Shockwave Supernova’s rhythmic duties, with the exception of four cuts – the driving "Keep On Movin’," full of wondrous Satch guitar wizardry and Keneally’s playful piano, "In My Pocket," a deliciously greasy, souped-up take on Swing, along with "Crazy Joey" (a deliriously effervescent romp) and "Scarborough Stomp" (a relentless upbeat rocker) – find Satriani joined by another powerhouse rhythm section: the esteemed drummer Vinnie Colaiuta (whose work includes the likes of Frank Zappa, Sting, Paul Simon, among others) and Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney (whose resume includes Alanis Morrisette, Celine Dion and Rob Zombie, to name a few).
Recently, during the final performance of his two-year Unstoppable Momentum tour, Satriani had an epiphany; he found himself, "playing the guitar with my teeth an awful lot. I thought, ‘Why are you doing this?’ It’s as if something else, or somebody else, was driving me to do it." Satriani seized upon this moment of self-realisation as the springboard and creative centre for his alter ego "Shockwave Supernova," the outlandish and extroverted ‘performance side’ of the normally shy and reserved guitar virtuoso. With this new persona as partner, Satriani launched his wildly ambitious 15th solo album, Shockwave Supernova.

In a creative and engaging alternative venture, Satriani, a lifelong science fiction fan, has reached out to the future, through the medium of animation. Finally recognizing the on-stage symmetry with his alter ego allowed Satriani to also take a risk on this particular style of storytelling. He says, "Guitarist Ned Evett and I have created an animated series called Crystal Planet. The actual Crystal Planet is our very own Earth, set billions of years in the future. The hero of the show uses music generated by a unique electric guitar to travel through time while the show’s characters struggle to preserve the future and past of humankind."  More information on Crystal Planet and how and where fans will view the series will be coming shortly.
Fans are now able to pre-order the new album with an exclusive signed poster only at satriani.com. Joe will be selecting art for the poster from fan submitted art – check Joe’s Facebook page for more details. The album is available for pre-order on Amazon and iTunes and will also be available to order as 2 LP 120 gram vinyl.

As was previously announced, Satriani and Steve Vai, will perform at a third benefit concert in support of music industry veteran and their good friend, Cliff Cultreri. "A Benefit for Cliff III" is set for Friday, June 12th at 8pm at Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. This event will feature performances by Satriani and Vai, as well as special guests, Animals As Leaders. In addition, Satriani and Vai, along with other artists, have graciously donated various items to be auctioned at the event. Among these items are autographed guitars as well as a chance to join Satriani’s "G4 Camp" taking place June 28 – July 2 in Cambria, CA.
