RAVEN Set April 22 As 'ExtermiNation' Day

- New album "ExtermiNation" will be released in April -
- Raven remember Bon Scott with a special song -

RAVEN are that rare thing in music, true originals cut these guys with a razor and they will bleed true heavy metal - a more intense live band does not exist on this planet!

Hailing from Newcastle Upon Tyne in North East England back in 1974 (yes 41 years ago!) the brothers Gallagher cuut their teeth playing the pubs & clubs until solidifying their line up in 1980 with drummer Rob Hunter.  The trio went on to release three of the most influential metal albums of the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) on the Neat records label which in turn inspired every band of that era and beyond.  Basically, without Raven you just would not have thrash/speed metal. after all, the band did give Metallica & Anthrax their first tours! Following a tumultous move to the USA, deals with Atlantic Records, indentured servitude and commercialism, Rob left the band in 1987 to be replaced by drummer extraordinaire Joe Hasselvander, who had made his name in cult doom band Pentagram, Savoy Brown and his own solo projects, adding a new dimension to the band. Rebuilding from the Atlantic experiences, the band capitalized on their fierce live performances steadily releasing albums and touring the world.  In 2001,  guitarist Mark Gallagher was involved in a near fatal accident - but fought his way back from the brink and the band proved they were stronger than ever!  This renewed spirit and attitude was reflected in the title of their 2010 album “Walk Through Fire” and in the career overview DVD “Rock Until You Drop”. In a cynical musical landscape these days, where bands are not “gangs” but corporations...where albums and live shows are click tracked & pro-tooled to death  where a band s line up can change every few months with “hired guns” who float in and out -  RAVEN are almost alone among their peers in that they boast a lineup featuring the same three guys a line up that has been stable for the better parrt of three decades! RAVEN are a band that is real not fake – and proud of it!

Our “three musketeers” have had an exciting 2014 opening for Metallica (the band Raven took on their first tour back in 1983) in Sao Paulo in front of 70,000 fans, and completeing a 43 date headlining USA tour – not to mention completing their finest album to date "ExtermiNattion” slated for an April 2015 release worldwide on SPV/Steamhammer! This album combines the melody/chaos/musicianship/lunacy that defines the band with songs that are simply the best they have done in decades.  Rivaling the “holy trinity” of those early albums, and again working with the engineering metal mastermind who is Kevin 131 (Walk Through Fire) the band have taken their game to the next level..this may well be their 41st anniversary but these guys are only just getting started!

In commemoration of Bon Scott`s death 35 years ago today, RAVEN release a snippet of their new song "Thunder Down Under".

NWOBHM thrash godfathers RAVEN have released the track-listing for their upcoming covers album "Party Killers".  The band is currently running a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign, asking for fans' support  to help fund their next studio album "ExtermiNation".  "Party Killers" is available exclusively through the Kickstarter campaign as a reward for backers, and will not be available after the campaign ends on November 28th.  "Party Killers" is available on CD and 12" vinyl.  Other exclusive items including t-shirts, CDs, vinyl, patches, stickers, and more are available only through the Kickstarter campaign.

"Party Killers" track-listing:

- "Too Bad Too Sad" (Nazareth)
- "Bad Reputation" (Thin Lizzy)
- "Cockroach" (Sweet)
- "Fireball" (Deep Purple)
- "Hang on to Yourself" (David Bowie)
- "He's a Whore" (Cheap Trick)
- "In For the Kill" (Budgie)
- "Is There a Better Way" (Status Quo)
- "Ogre Battle" (Queen)
- "Queen of My Dreams" (Edgar Winter)
- "Tak Me Bak Ome" (Slade)

Vocalist and bassist John Gallagher comments on the album: "We were writing for the new album at a cool studio in Richmond, VA, and in the middle of jamming asked the engineer there if we could record a few cover tunes just for the hell of it.  The sounds were so good we decided to do something we'd been threatening for many years: "Party Killers" - a collection of cover tunes guaranteed to deafen yer neighbors!! It's basically a peek into the little red 45rpm singles box we used to have at home...songs and bands that were very influential to us as kids, but given the Raven overhaul! I think it gives a nice insight to our roots and will be an excellent companion to the new album!"

RAVEN is currently on tour in the United States with support act NIGHT DEMON.

About RAVEN:

According to the metal media, the labels “Legendary,” "Innovative" and “Lunatics!" have all been rightfully pinned upon RAVEN over the years. In a crowded scene, the unique personality, power and humor of the three band members has always shone through. The crazed vocals and masterful bass playing of John Gallagher, the full frontal guitar assault of brother Mark Gallagher, and the punishing polyrhythmic pounding of drummer Joe Hasselvander all combine to form a sonic battering ram unique in rock!

From the well documented early days as NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) frontrunners, RAVEN’s albums "Rock Until You Drop", "Wiped Out" and "All For One" virtually invented both the speed metal and power metal genres.  From the trailblazing US tours of the '80s, introducing the States to “athletic rock” as well as giving opening acts like Metallica and Anthrax their first tours, through the doldrums of the early '90s when a grunge obsessed media wrote off so many metal acts, RAVEN has consistently proved to be survivors par excellence and, in a genre of imitators, has shown that they are “the real thing”.  RAVEN emerged unscathed into the new millennium, releasing possibly their strongest and most aggressive album to date in 2010's "Walk Through Fire", and are poised to strike again with the forthcoming album "ExtermiNation" due in 2015.  Where so many of their contemporaries have either faded creatively or become parodies of themselves, RAVEN have consistently pushed the envelope while retaining their unique sound and attack, both in the studio and in their true element - on stage!

RAVEN Launch Kickstarter; Set to Release "Party Killers" Cover Album

NWOBHM thrash godfathers RAVEN have launched a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign to fund the recording of their next studio album "ExtermiNation".  The band has recorded a full-length cover album entitled "Party Killers" that is being offered as an exclusive Kickstarter reward for backers.  "Party Killers" is available on CD and 12" vinyl.  The band is also offering exclusive t-shirts, patches, and a 7" vinyl single via the campaign, which runs through November 28th.

The trio has been in heavy pre-production for the upcoming original studio album "ExtermiNation" due in early 2015.  Somehow amid the writing and rehearsal process, the band also found time and energy to record the cover album.  Further details will be released in the coming days, but it has been revealed that the track-listing will include covers of "Ogre Battle"(Queen) and "In For the Kill"(Budgie).
