TOTO 'Live In Montreux 1991' DVD/CD Out Sept. 16

At the personal invitation of Quincy Jones and legendary Montreux Jazz Festival founder Claude Nobs to perform at the famed Swiss festival, Toto couldn’t resist the opportunity, resulting in Toto: Live At Montreux 1991. “From the perspective of the members of Toto,” states guitarist Steve Lukather, “the Montreux Jazz Festival is amongst the most revered events staged in the world. Our association, as a band, and individuals, is something we are deeply proud of. So much fun, and so much history has graced the ground in and around the lake.”

On September 16, 2016, Eagle Rock Entertainment will present this very special concert film from Toto’s storied history. Toto: Live At Montreux 1991 — the last tour with Jeff and Mike Porcaro, alongside original members Steve Lukather and David Paich — will be available on DVD+CD, Blu-ray+CD, and Digital Video in North America [MSRP TBA].

In 1991, Toto was in the midst of a run of headline dates and European summer festivals, while finishing their new album Kingdom Of Desire. It was a time of rebirth for the band, and the Montreux stage proved the perfect opportunity to test drive the new songs. Fans could feel the electricity in the air as Lukather, Paich, and the late brothers Jeff and Mike Porcaro took the stage.

“Yes! Time to take a trip in the ol’ Toto Hot Tub Time Machine! Back to 1991, yes ‘91! Where pure live music was performed on hallowed ground under the paternal wings of Quincy Jones and Claude Nobs,” states keyboardist David Paich. “When I first listened back, the thought omnipresent in my mind was simply, ‘That’s that raw, sizzling energy we had in high school!’  Here we are – four valley dudes from Los Angeles with some assorted musical friends, bringing it once again.”

Sadly, this was Jeff Porcaro’s final tour with the band, before his passing in 1992. Lukather, who personally mixed Live At Montreux 1991 with legendary engineer Niko Bolas, expresses the real emotions that this concert channels, and how poignant it was to the band’s history:

“The most important thing is you can see and hear the love we have for each other and watching this in 2016 with Niko…well bittersweet is a term that has been so overused but in this case…there were tears and a lot of laughter as the memories of this night and this final tour with Jeff were captured.  You guys get to see a version of the band that will never and COULD never be again!”

Few ensembles in the history of recorded music have individually or collectively had a larger imprint on pop culture than the members of Toto. With over 38 years together and thousands of credits and accolades to their names, Toto remains one of the top selling touring and recording acts in the world.

As individuals, the band members can be heard on an astonishing 5000 albums that together amass a sales history of a half a billion albums.  Amongst these recordings, NARAS applauded the performances with more than 200 Grammy nominations. Their repertoire continues to be current via high profile usage on broadcast television.  They ARE pop culture, and are one of the few 70’s bands that have endured the changing trends and styles and enjoy a multi-generational fan base.

Last summer, they released their first new studio album in ten years –TOTO XIV – that debuted Top 10 in nine countries around the world and became their most successful album since 1988 in the U.S. and UK.  This August / September, the band will stage a headline tour of North America. Details are available via totoofficial.com.

MelodicRock Records is excited to reveal yet another new artist destined for bigger things. Plus at the same time, the label takes another musical turn with an album drenched in the authentic Midwestern rock n roll sound that such artists as John Kilzer, Henry Lee Summer and Little America delivered with such passion.

We’re talking about JADED PAST. And the new album ‘Believe’ will be released via MelodicRock Records on August 19.

This is the second album for the band, with the debut released independently in 2012. Jaded Past is the creation of lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter George Becker.
George has been a long time veteran of the East Coast music scene and has shared the stage with numerous national acts.

George has been in the studio, working tirelessly with producer Steve Brown (Trixter, 40ft Ringo), who also contributes some guitars and backing vocals for this release.
The result is a genuinely warm and engaging record that takes a guitar driven American rock sound and mixes in some Midwestern John Mellencamp styled high energy rock-n-country.

Following the release of the CD, Jaded Past will embark on a number of live performances beginning with a headlining show at the Jersey shore on August 13, 2016.

Then in the late fall, Becker will take Jaded Past on the road in support of the new CD release in areas spanning the East Coast, New England, Midwest, Southern Region and possibly The West Coast. For the 2016 live shows, Becker has enlisted the amazing line-up of Scott LaFlamme on lead guitar, Jason Cornwell on bass and Rob LaFlamme on drums.

A full 2016 concert schedule can be viewed at www.jadedpast.com.

George Becker also plays an array of Acoustic Solo and Duo shows all over the New Jersey / New York and Pennsylvania area and in 2016 will be branching out into Connecticut, Rhode Island and Maryland. These dates can also be found on the Jaded Past website.

Decibel Geek Podcast - ANGELS IN VEIN

Decibel Geek podcast/YouTube channel videographer Rockin' Ron Runyon recently sat down with the new Hard Rock band Angels In Vein in their home base of Las Vegas for the full band's first on-camera video interview. What transpired was a 30+ minute video conversation with each member on everything that any rock fan would want to know about this up and coming band of veteran rockers. The band, consisting of Guitarist Todd "Taz" Anthony (Cherry St., Producer), 2nd Guitarist Stacey Blades (L.A. Guns, Let It Rawk), Bassist Eric Stacy (Faster Pussycat, Jetboy), Drummer Troy Patrick Farrell (White Lion, Gilby Clarke), and Vocalist Chris Van Dahl (L.A. Guns, Steven Tyler/Legends/Aeromyth), talked candidly about their history, the band name, the label they don't want, the difference/similarity in selling records today compared to the 70's, internet response, their future plans, and much more. A few excerpts follow:

On the internet's overwhelming response:

Chris said: "I think it's a testimony that the timing for this is right and people are hungry for a really great hard rock band."

On defining the songs they will be recording:
Stacey said: "I have not been this excited about an original project in years."
Chris said: "The songs are a good indication but, in no way defines the band. There will be a lot of surprises so, stow your expectations"

On the difference/similarity of selling your music today:

Chris said: "It's like we're back in the 70's building a following by touring and selling our record out of the back of a van but, the van now is the internet."

On being labeled in the press as a "Supergroup":

Eric said: "We're flattered that they say that but, that word never came from us. We're not Asia"
Chris said: "A Supergroup is Hollywood Vampires"
Eric said: "And that's a fly by night, done for cash thing."
Troy said: "Those groups are contrived. They are typically known for big shows and catalogs of the guys that are in the band. This is not a cover band."

On the name Angels In Vein:

Chris said: "Originally we were going to call the band "The Devil You Know" and I went after that. Then, literally the day I was going to launch the website, two guys one from Killswitch Engage and another big band released that they had formed a band called "The Devil You Know" and I said WHAT!"
Chris said: "I was doing some research and came across a passage that ended with angels and the next sentence was hyphen and then "in vain" and it stuck with me. Then I thought why don't we spin it and instead of vain we go with vein because what we do comes from inside us."

On releasing more music:

Chris said: "We may just release a song a month for the next 50 years."
Eric said: "We're looking at releasing a song a month right now."

Athens-based Alternative Metal band Ghost Season have announced their first full length album titled "Like Stars In A Neon Sky".
The ten-track album will arrive on September 15th on CD and Digital release.
Like Stars In A Neon Sky follows the band’s EP "Ghosts Like Her" on 2014 and the single "Break My Chains" of December in 2015.
It also marks the debut album of Ghost Season newly lineup with Helen Nota as the drummer of the band.

The first look at the LP comes with the video for the song “Fade Away”. Though Ghost Season now operate as a four-piece, the physical absence of the second guitarist goes sonically unnoticed - their metal-soaked sound remains firmly intact. The album was mixed and mastered by Nick Christolis (guitarist of the band) along with the vocalist J.Loren Wince of the American-based Alternative Rock band HURT not only co-producing it but showing the band different directions and perspectives and getting involved in every single song.
The same day Ghost Season will release their new video clip for the song "Fade Away". The album will also contain a cover of Savage Garden’s “Break Me Shake Me”.

"Like Stars In A Neon Sky" tracklist:

Fade Away
Sons Of Yesterday
Break My Chains
The High Way
Of Hearts And Shadows
The Mirror
Just A Lie
The Vampire

HALEN HUNGRY? ROTH SERVES UP “EAT’EM & SMILE”

Heard you missed us, well we’re back! “Dave & Dave Unchained” - Van Halen podcast returns with episode 4 celebrating the 30th anniversary of David Lee Roth’s 1986 solo album, “Eat’em & Smile.”

At a time when Van Halen didn’t sound very Van Halen, Roth opted to head in the big rock direction VH was known for mixed with a bit of his “Crazy from the Heat” style added in for good measure. Roth hired gunslingers Steve Vai on guitar and Billy Sheehan on bass with Gregg Bissonette behind the drum kit. The videos were wild and colorful and the live show was packed with Van Halen hits.

The Daves discuss the launch of Roth’s band, the “Eat’em & Smile” tour and breakdown the album song-by-song. There’s also an exclusive interview with Vai, who looks back on his “Eat’em & Smile” days, why the band changed direction with the next album “Skyscraper” and even opened up about the “Eat’em & Smile” reunion that almost happened and might still happen. To cap things off, the cast concludes with part 2 of the interview with “Van Halen Rising” author Greg Renoff who talks about his massive “Eat’em & Smile” article he wrote for Guitar World, Roth’s botched movie and the awkward position DLR is currently in these days.

Sit down with a bottle of anything and a glazed donut while enjoying this firecracker of an episode!

Frontiers Music Announce The Signing of Dario Mollo's CROSSBONES

Categories:
News Feed

Best known for his partnerships in the The Cage with Tony Martin (ex-Black Sabbath) and Voodoo Hill with Glenn Hughes (Black Country Communion, Deep Purple, California Breed), Italian guitarist Dario Mollo began his career in 1981 with the band Crossbones. With them, he released his first studio album in 1989, which was produced by Kit Woolven (Thin Lizzy, Magnum and UFO, among others) before getting involved in the production side of things himself.

'This new project, "CrossBones" was created with the intent to pay homage to the band from where it all started," says Dario. For the occasion, he brought back the drummer of the original lineup, Ezio Secomandi together with his regular collaborator Dario Patti on bass and keyboards.

The choice for the singer is Carl Sentance (Nazareth, Don Airey Band, Persian Risk, Krokus), who came at the suggestion of Don Airey of Deep Purple, during a recent visit to Dario's home. 'This album includes the best of all the experience I gathered in my career in music and in artistic production,' concludes Dario. The quality of the material he recorded is witness to that.

The album is planned for release towards the end of 2016, with tour dates to follow.

Lou Gramm, Mick Jones Recall 1981 Album of the Year, Foreigner 4

Artist:
Wednesday, November 26, 2014

Podcasts & Radio

Dallas, TX - July 7, 2016.  North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio with Redbeard: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands  visits with Lou Gramm and Mick Jones for the 35th anniversary of Foreigner’s most significant album, Foreigner 4.  The Album of the Year in 1981, it was # 1 seller on the American charts for ten weeks, producing the hits “Waiting For A Girl Like You”, “Urgent”, the rocker “Night Life” , and the classic “Jukebox Hero”.

In the late1970s the band Foreigner seemed destined to become a classic case of too much, too soon. The band’s first, 1977’s Foreigner and then Double Vision in 1978, were multi-platinum hits of unprecedented proportions and Foreigner entered the Rock and Roll arena as a full blown star. It was heady stuff, to be sure, but that kind of rapid success is often a recipe for quick decline as well.

For Foreigner the critical point came after their third album Head Games which was released in 1979. Head Games didn’t do as well as the first two albums, and the six Foreigner band members started to blame each other, resulting in departure of two of Foreigner’s original members. There were serious questions as to whether the remaining four should continue as the band Foreigner. In the end Mick Jones, Lou Gramm, Rick Wills and Dennis Elliott decided to forge ahead, making their most successful album ever. Mick Jones, Foreigner’s founder and lead guitarist, and former singer, songwriter Lou Gramm reflect with InTheStudio host Redbeard, on the crisis and eventual vindication that marked Foreigner 4

“We started to rehearse for the 4 album. I was so frustrated because I felt that the direction of the band was getting so diverse, with everybody wanting to express themselves... I wasn’t hogging the writing. I was ready to be challenged by anybody else’s ideas, and as far as I was concerned the objective was to achieve a great album...and I was pretty strong minded about it.”  -  Mick Jones

“It was only after a week in the studio that the kind of undercurrent and dissatisfaction came to a head and the changes were made, or I think the band would have fallen apart right in the studio.” - Lou Gramm
