The Return Of MELODICROCKFEST!

Categories:
News Feed

MelodicRock.com is excited to announce the return of MelodicRockFest for one more round!

MRF5 will happen in May 2018

Stuck with the problem of deciding between two amazing locations and two amazing venues, with two great partnerships to work with, we've taken the only responsible option - two MelodicRockFest events, back to back!

MRF-USA and
MRF-Scandinavia

MRF5 will be happening  as usual in the Chicagoland area; and for the very first time is also heading to the other side of the globe, for a special event in Sweden!

This initial announcement is being made 14 months out from the events to allow interested fans to plan ahead and save for what will be two unforgettable events.

Full lineups for both events are in advanced planning and will be announced in the not too distant future.

Both MelodicRockFest events will take place in May 2018 and will feature the best characteristics of previous fests, with a couple of new twists to keep diehard fans happy and offer up some tempting VIP options.

MRF organizer Andrew McNeice: "I was initially reluctant to dive into another event, but the partnership offers on both side of the Atlantic give me the confidence and enthusiasm to really deliver two exclusive events. I'm doing this for the fans. The true fans of this small, but amazing genre. I want to put on the two best MRF events yet and discussions with artists I'd love to take part suggest they will be.
I'm going to deliver lineups that offer something you won't get at any other event, with the emphasis on the hottest acts fans in both locations have been demanding to see.
You can expect there to be a crossover of some artists at both events and for those looking for a double holiday, there will be ticketing options that cover both events.
It's also a great opportunity for some artists to perform that wouldn't otherwise get a chance and I'd love to deliver a few surprises from yesteryear that the diehards will embrace."

Further details will be announced in coming weeks including locations, exact dates and the all-important lineup and ticketing details.

There will be various vendor and sponsor opportunities. If interested, please contact: ajm@melodicrock.com

ADRENALINE RUSH Deliver 'Soul Survivor' April 21

Friday, April 21, 2017

Frontiers Music Srl is happy to announce the release of Adrenaline Rush’s second album, “Soul Survivor” on April 21.

Following the successful release of the band’s 2014 self-titled debut album, Adrenaline Rush are now ready to unleash their next infectious slice of hard, sleaze, melodic rock on the rock 'n roll masses!

This time, blond bombshell vocalist Tåve Wanning mainly collaborated with Fredrik Folkare (FIRESPAWN, UNLEASHED), who brought fresh influences to the table that fit very well with Tåve’s ideas. The music has evolved and grown beyond what appeared on the debut. It is still melodic and definitely has an 80’s flavor, but also is a bit more complex, darker, and heavier than the previous album. The production is edgier and the guitar work once again pristine. Erik Martensson (Eclipse) was once again involved as a sounding board, co-writing a song and mastering the finished tracks.

“I didn’t want to make another album just like the first one,” Tåve says. “I’ve grown since we recorded the first, I am in a different place. And I feel the album reflects that. The new tracks really complement the old instead of replacing them; they add a new dimension and gives us a broader spectrum of songs to choose from when playing live.”

The band has also seen some changes. Former members Ludvig and Soufian left the band to focus on other endeavors and have been replaced by Sam Soderlindh (lead guitar) and Joel Fox (bass). Sam is a new face to most, a young guitarist with fast fingers and a lot of potential. Joel, on the other hand, has been around for a while in bands like Dynazty and Siniestro. Alexander Hagman and Marcus Johansson complete the band’s line-up on guitar and drums respectively.

The band is set to perform a few club gigs in Sweden, before appearing at the 4th annual Frontiers Rock Festival in Milano, Italy, on April 30th.

"Hope to see you at a gig. Until then… enjoy the Rush!" encourages Tåve!

TREAT To Release 'The Road More or Less Traveled - Live in Milano' April 21

Artist:
Friday, April 21, 2017

News Feed
Frontiers Music Srl is very happy to announce the release of the first in a series of live albums and videos captured at the popular annual Frontiers Rock Festival.

The first artist in the series is the legendary Swedish melodic rockers TREAT, who will release their first ever live CD and first live DVD/BLU-RAY in over 10 years entitled “The Road More or Less Traveled - Live in Milano” on April 21.

On April 23, 2016, Treat played a hotly anticipated set at Frontiers Rock Festival III. Held close to Milano, Italy, this was the third annual edition of the festival and saw Treat playing hot on the heels of the release of their latest studio album, “Ghost Of Graceland”. The release date of this live album happens to be about one year after the initial performance took place and almost coincides with the 2017 edition of the Frontiers Rock Festival as well.

The band took the stage by storm, opening the show with the title track from their last studio album and showcasing a very special lineup, which features H.E.A.T. keyboardist Jona Tee taking the place of Patrik Appelgren for this exclusive performance. Treat offered a show with a great mixture of new and recent songs taken from their latest album, the highly regarded 2010 release “Coup De Grace”, and classic songs from the good ol’ days including “World Of Promises”, “Get You On The Run”, and “Ready For The Taking”.
Says guitarist Anders Wikström, “As we haven’t released a live home video in 10 years, let alone a live album ever, and then Serafino asked us, we were more than delighted, and frankly, long overdue, to show our fans what we been up to for the last couple of years. With so many albums to choose from and our audience constantly asking for different songs in the setlist, this was a great opportunity to close one chapter, only to start writing the next. "The Road more or Less Traveled” is a great reminder for anyone to see that Treat is very much a living and breathing live entity!”

Treat’s performance was truly a unique and special one and this live video documents a great moment in the band’s history as well as serving as a celebration of one of Sweden’s finest hard rock bands ever!
"This year will take us right back we belong, on stage! We have some really cool surprises and will of course play the best of the new, but also older songs we haven’t performed in ages! See you all on tour through 2017,” concludes Anders.

“The Road More or Less Traveled” will be released on CD/DVD, Blu Ray standalone, and digital editions and will include the following tracks:

CD/DVD/BLU-RAY:
1. Ghost Of Graceland
2. Better The Devil You Know

Frontiers Music Srl is thrilled to present a very special box set release from UNRULY CHILD, "Reigning Frogs – The Box Set Collection” on April 21, 2017.

This exclusive, limited edition, brand new box set includes the rare and hard-to-find releases from the band's catalog. In all, five full length studio albums and one DVD are included in this beautifully packaged, must have release for Unruly Child Band fans.

"Reigning Frogs – The Box Set Collection” contents:
- “Waiting For The Sun”, which was originally released in 1998 and featured the line-up of singer Kelly Hansen (ex-Hurricane, now with Foreigner), Gowdy and Jay Schellen (with special guest Ricky Phillips of Styx on bass).
- “The Basement Demos”, which features all the demos that the band recorded in preparation for their first record for Interscope Records. The album also includes a bonus DVD with rare in-studio interviews and recording sessions from the same period.
- “UCIII”, an album which sees another Unruly Child incarnation featuring Gowdy with Guy Allison and Philip Bardowell taking on vocal duties. While slightly more proggy at times, “UCIII” still retains the overall vibe that fans loved about Unruly Child.
- “Worlds Collide”, which featured the full reunion of the original lineup of the band (Gowdy-Allison-Free-Antonino-Schellen). This release truly brought back the magic of the early demos and the first record.
- “Down The Rabbit Hole” is an independently released album – very much sought after by collectors – which was only sold in a limited number of copies via the band’s website in 2014. Another fine and classic melodic rock release featuring the original line-up.
The Box Set houses the CDs in vinyl replica and includes all lyrics, a total of three bonus tracks (unreleased outside Japan) and a 20 page booklet, including exclusive stories personally written by Gowdy, Free, and Allison as well as photos from their archives.

In The Studio - PINK FLOYD

February 14, 2017, Dallas, TX -  North American syndicated Rock radio show and website In The Studio with Redbeard: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands examines the 40th anniversary of Pink Floyd Animals through interviews with David Gilmour, Nick Mason and big-concept composer Roger Waters conducted by host Redbeard.
How did Pink Floyd evolve from the sublime cynicism of Dark Side of the Moon to the madness and despair of The Wall six years later?  Hear first-hand the vital importance of this transitional Pink Floyd album Animals and the tipping point on the final stadium concert of that tour which sparked the eventual building of The Wall.

“At the end of this Montreal show there was some kid trying to climb up the chain link fencing. I got so angry with this kid who was screaming all through “Mother” or one of the quieter songs, anyway, I finally got so angry I spat at this child. He was 14 or 15, I suppose. And when I came off stage afterwards I thought, ‘What have I been reduced to, here?... What has happened to the relationship between the band and the audience?’ So, the wall was something that I had experienced very powerfully through most of that tour, but specifically on that day.”  - Roger Waters

“We’ve never had any sacred idea about what we think we ought to be or what we ought to sound like.”  - David Gilmour
“After this long, I think people are now so used to the fact that bands are so much more dysfunctional than that (mop top “Monkees” image). There is a reality to it. When you get creative people, frequently it is of limited duration.”
                                                                                             - Nick Mason

GEOFF TATE, FORMERLY OF QUEENSRYCHE, STARS IN THE BURNINGMOORE DEATHS COMING TO DVD AND DIGITAL FORMATS VIA MVD ENTERTAINMENT GROUP ON FEBRUARY 14TH

On February 14th, MVD Entertainment will release the feature film debut of Geoff Tate, former lead vocalist of the multi-platinum metal band Queensryche. Entitled The Burningmoore Deaths, the horror film - written and directed by Jonathan Williams - is inspired by true events surrounding unsolved murders captured on security cameras during a production shoot of a Home Improvement TV show pilot.

Tate takes the role of James Parrish, a man who allegedly killed his own wife and three children before disappearing without a trace. With the home now vacated and boarded up, a home improvement company gets permission to film the renovation process for a test pilot for a TV network, not knowing that Parrish had returned to take up residence once again in the derelict building. Bloody chaos ensues - and it's all captured on camera!

The Burningmoore Deaths features an original score by Andrew Kadin with additional music by Dawn of Solace and Geoff Tate.

"I think I've always done it... in our own shows and with the way I present music," said Tate. "It all has a bit of a stage acting bend to it. So this wasn't really a stretch for me... it was just playing to a different audience, to a camera rather than a room full of people, but it's the same thing. You play-act and you make stuff up and you present that like you like you would in a stage show."

The Burningmoore Deaths will be available on all digital stores for download and also available on DVD in retail stores, the MVD Shop and on Amazon.

ROCKINGHAM 2017 Event Press Release

ROCKINGHAM PRESS RELEASE / WE’RE ALL WORKING FOR THIS WEEKEND…

Are you ready, I mean, are you really ready? Well here we go for Rockingham three, so get strapped in as this rollercoaster promises to be a thrill a minute ride. Three days, eighteen bands and more melodic rock than you'll find in one place all year as Rockingham returns to, Trent University, the scene of last year’s crime.
You want big hitters, well step forward Vince Neil, Loverboy, Dave Bickler and Kix, a quartet of bands and artists that would grace any stage. With a supporting cast that includes the likes of Honeymoon Suite, Harem Scarem and Great White how can you go wrong? Throw in some hot new talent along the lines of Cruzh, Maverick and the Amorettes and all the bases are being covered.
With a welcome return from Fortune, one of the best bands from last year’s festival and a first time appearance from Blanc Faces, you can guarantee that the pure AOR fans will be more than happy. .
With English AOR ably represented by the likes Vega, Bailey, Dare, Moritz and Airrace, this is shaping up to be one of the best Festivals of the year.
It’s all set to take place over the weekend of the 2Oth to 22nd of October, at Nottingham’s Trent University.

LINE UP FOR THE WEEKEND

VINCE NEIL
If you’re the kind of person that’s been wandering around with a “Dude! Where’s my Crue?” look upon your face since the demise of the legendary L.A rockers, then fear not as the good folks at Rockingham have it covered. The mighty Vince Neil is about to hit the UK with a solo extravaganza that is sure to dazzle and delight in equal measure. We can only add, Vince, you’re hired!

KIX
Whoa, take it easy, Kix are in town and its woman hunting season. This is one band that will bring the party to Rockingham. Their back catalogue just spells fun, with a capital F.U.N! From Layin’ Rubber, Lie Like A Rug and Atomic Bomb through to Yeah, Yeah, Yeah and Hot Wire, Kix are indeed, for kids. We may just break out a case of cold Heineken and a bottle of Jack Daniels, not a small one, a bloody great big one.

LOVERBOY
For Loverboy this will be their first time back on UK soil since the late eighties when they supported Def Leppard on the second leg of their UK Hysteria tour. I caught them in Birmingham back then and they didn't disappoint, giving a masterclass of songs and stage craft. Their debut is still one of the best in Canadian hard rock history and in my eyes they are up there with the likes of Nightranger and Autograph as one of the finest bands that this genre has ever given us. Their performance will be a bucket list moment for a lot of people, so expect them to bring the house down. You'll love every minute of it!

GREAT WHITE
Great White will need no introduction to the average rock punter. Having toured the U.K with Whitesnake in the early eighties, plus a slew of shows since, they’ve won the hearts of the UK public. This might be the version without Jack Russell, but original member Mark Kendall and Terry Ilous (XYZ) will make sure that this performance will still pack a bite.

DAVE BICKLER
With Nigel Bailey as his master of ceremonies, David Bickler is in safe hands and is sure to rise up and delight all in attendance. As the man at the front of Survivor for many a year, Bickler is no stranger to the big occasion. With a set that is sure to bring all of Survivors best loved songs into one fun packed set, this could be Nigel Baileys biggest task to date.

HONEYMOON SUITE
Maple leaf mayhem, with a soft rocking sheen is what you'll be given from the good ship H.M.S. With a back catalogue to die for, a band tighter than my wallet and a reputation of some repute, the Honeymooners will be welcome back on these shores like long lost heroes. If their past performances in this country are anything to go by, then this could be a must see moment.

HAREM SCAREM
Harem Scarem has been around for nearly thirty years, yes, thirty years! Whilst the rest of us have aged, the only thing that has changed with Harry Hess is the hair; everything else still looks the same. The same can be said about their music, from their AORtastic debut, through to the more modern leanings of their recent output, Harem Scarem have always delivered.

VEGA
With Harry Hess in their corner and one of the finest albums of last year under their belts, Vega will take Rockingham by the scruff of the neck and not let go until it's been thoroughly entertained. With four albums to choose from their only problem will be what songs to leave out of a set that will lift the roof off.

MORITZ
The last time I witnessed these boys at HRH AOR they were one of the bands of that weekend, with Peter Scallan proving why he is regarded as one of the UKs finest vocalists. Sans Greg Hart, the Moritz blitz will be on a roll thanks to a wonderful new album, which should be released imminently, so expect a show stealing festival performance from one of the UKs finest acts.

BLANC FACES
Robbie LeBlanc is a vocalist of some renown, as his brace of Blanc Faces CDswill testify. With a recently reissued CD of his first band Fury in the racks, plus the promise of new material, Robbie will be like watching Michael Bolton in his early days as his perfect AOR vocals deliver the kind of music that is guaranteed to please any aficionado of the genre.

FORTUNE
At last year’s Rockingham Fortune gave a masterclass in perfect AOR, Larry Greene was majestic and the whole performance was in the top three of the weekend. They showed that old AORsters might fade away, but they never lose their ability to impress and that's what Fortune did, in spades. So you don't want to miss what will be one of the sure-fire best sets of the whole weekend.

AIRRACE
And talking of fine UK acts, the wonderful Airrace make a return to U.K. Stages with a revised line up, but minus none of the class associated with their name. With Adam Payne (Serpentine) replacing Keith Murrell, Laurie Mansworth and company will endeavour to make this anything but a brief encounter, more a lasting impression.

BAILEY
Nigel Bailey is fast becoming the go-to guy for long lost AORsters like Stan Bush and Kevin Chalfant, so It'll be good to finally see him front his own band. You can expect a healthy dose of songs from his debut album, with a smattering of Three Lions and Hardline songs thrown in for good measure. With the promise of more double denim on show than there is in Vinny Burns' wardrobe, Nigel Bailey will get the just rewards he deserves.

DARE
With Vinny Burns firmly ensconced back into the Dare fold and their recent album heralding a return to their soft rocking best, the potential for a performance of some magnitude is stacking up nicely. Expect a set of flowing, white shirt toting anthemic AOR from one of the UKs best loved AOR outfits.

MAVERICK
Northern Ireland's answer to Motley Crue, well, the Crue on a budget if I'm honest, will be a hard hitting surprise for many. Two albums into their career, their sophomore release is currently garnering them plenty of support and this live appearance is certain to be incendiary.

THE AMORETTES
Girls with guitars and plenty of attitude, so what's not to like? They've recently tore it up with the likes of The Treatment and the Black Star Riders, coming out the other side with nothing but praise on their side. They’ll be like Girlschool on steroids and will drink you under the table, get ready to party.

CRUZH
Swedish newcomers, Cruzh, will be a soft- rock sensation as they bathe you with their lightweight sounds. They will be the aural equivalent of a pampering spa day, luxurious and stress free. Their debut is one of the best in recent years, they have the ability to impress and this performance will be one not to miss.

BROTHER FIRETRIBE
The Nightwish connection aside, Brother Firetribe is best known for their uncanny ability to pen bombastic AOR tunes. Returning to Rockingham for the second time, Emppu Vuorinen and company will be a welcome addition to this bill as they promote their fabulous new album, “Sunbound”.

I think you’ll all agree that Rockingham Festivals AOR credentials have been fully endorsed by having such an array of talent on show. Fans and ticket buyers would also be wise to watch out for announcements of official pre and after shows in the coming months via the festivals Facebook page.
