JON BUTCHER AXIS Ready To 'Stare At The Sun' Again May 25

For a time in the early 1980's it looked like as if Jon Butcher's career would know no bounds. As anyone who picked up a copy of the self-titled Jon Butcher Axis album upon its original release in 1983 would concur, here was a star on the rise. Such an upwards trajectory was well deserved given his undeniable talent, the quality of that debut and the ensuing sophomore affair “Stare at the Sun”. Indeed both albums should have resulted in greater rewards than they ultimately did at the time.

Although Jon would enjoy a good deal of recognition for later recorded work, such as “Wishes” (released under his own name rather than the band handle), perhaps the answer to any questions that are asked over Butcher's lack of bigger and more sustained success may be allied to the one that asks “why has it taken well over thirty years for his first two records to be officially released on CD? Sure, several of the best tracks from both albums have surfaced on compilations of Jon's work but never before has either album been issued on its entirety on a silver shiny disc. That is about to change."

Jon had an obsession with the guitar from age 5 and his first real band was called Johanna Wild, a band that certainly caught the attention of many people, his influences including BB King, Jimi Hendrix,  Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy. Many people believe that “Stare at the Sun” was Jon's finest work and claim it to be the best album he ever released under any moniker. Songs like “Wind it up” and “Don't say Goodnight” are certainly songs that deserve your attention.

The result of his success afforded further growing popularity for the band, which added the opportunity to tour with Rush ('Signals' tour '83), Def Leppard ('Pyromania' tour '83) and Scorpions ('Hurricane' tour '84). amongst others. Jon Butcher has an undeniable talent and this 10 track album from the classic early eighties era shows just what this man had to offer.

THE SENIOR MANAGEMENT Arrive On CD May 30

Wednesday, May 30, 2018

MelodicRock Records is overjoyed to be bringing one of our favourite vocalists to the label. The mighty, Goran Edman is the frontman for the latest signing to the label, THE SENIOR MANAGEMENT.

MRR isn’t afraid to take chances when the music demands attention and The Senior Management is a no-brainer. Their mature mix of styles pushes the boundaries of melodic rock, westcoast AOR while including a touch of country and acoustic pop/rock.

The debut self-titled album is being exclusively handled by MRR for the CD format, with a digital release due early next month.

The MRR CD release will be a limited edition and is released May 30.

Check out these two monster songs that bookend the debut album:

The Senior Management Bio:
In the summer of 2015 guitarist Dennis Heltorp and drummer Henrik Zetterlund formed the rock band The Senior Management. Together they have been involved in different
music project since the late 80’s. During the first half of the 90’s they collaborated in the band
Y.M.I where they reached the finals in the Swedish championship of rock music.

In the mid 90’s Y.M.I played at a rock festival and was warm up act for Billionaires Boys Club who
was headlining. Billionaires Boy Club was Jörg Fischer (Accept), Anders Johansson (Yngwie Malmsteen) Göran Edman (Yngwie Malmsten, John Norum) and Magnus Rosén (Hammerfall).
Magnus was at the time in the beginning of his career and that later would bring him to several successful years with Hammerfall. Göran had recently left Yngwie Malmsteen
band when he replaced Marc Boals in Billionaires Boys Club. During this rock festival, it was the
first time we all met and none of us had any idea that we 20 years later would team up together as
The Senior Management.

Dennis Heltorp: “In order to find our sound, we did some demos with different voices like Tony Martin from Black Sabbath and Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman, Soto, Sons Of Apollo). However, all pieces fell into place after the first demo run with Göran. He finally added with his voice and amazing vocal harmonies the missing piece to complete our sound.”

Some listeners say that The Senior Management sound like a blend of The Eagles and Thin Lizzy.
Others have said they sound like Journey or Bon Jovi.

Modern melodic / heavy rock band Vile Caliber from Helsinki have released a new track 'Willpower'. They combine influences from rock/metal classics such as Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Whitesnake and KISS, and bring it together with a modern twist.

After releasing their debut album "Tomorrow's For Those Who Dare", the new single leans more towards their heavy metal sound.

Vile Caliber's Drummer Vesa commented on the new single: "In terms of production and songwriting We have kicked it up a few notches and multiplied everything by a thousandfold. Roaring guitars with fast shredding, thunderous rhythm sections driving forward like a steamroller, with energetic and intense vocals as the icing on top of this heavy metal cake. Enjoy!"
