VANDENBURG'S MOONKINGS Are 'Rugged And Unplugged' Nov 23

New York, NY --- Vandenderg’s MoonKings and Mascot Records / Mascot Label Group will release Rugged and Unplugged globally on November 23. The album is a beautifully stripped back acoustic album which features songs from across Adrian Vandenberg’s career. From his first band Teaser as a 20 year old he has always used an acoustic guitar in his recordings, which along with the electric guitar creates the light and shade dynamic that is the cornerstone to all of his records.

“For me, the sign of whether a song is good or not, is whether it still stands up when it's completely stripped down to the bare essence of it,” says Vandenberg. He continues, “What I find with acoustic versions of songs you already know, is that they can touch you in a different way than the full band and even orchestral versions. You don't get 'impressed' by big guitars, drums and even orchestras. As a performer you can't hide behind all that, so what's left is the emotional content of the performance and the actual song.”

This project created the opportunity to strip down the big orchestral arrangements on songs such as ‘What Doesn’t Kill You’ and ‘Breathing’ to just Vandenberg on acoustic guitar and the voice of Jan Hoving. His 1983 hit ‘Burning Heart’ gets a stunning reworking, “my favourite singers ever since my teens have always been guys like Paul Rodgers and David Coverdale.  Since I wrote this song in 1981, I've always pictured it sung by a singer with such a tone of voice and vocal abilities. Jan is absolutely such a singer as you can hear,” he explains. ‘One Step Behind’ has a graceful warmth and ‘Walk Away’ feels both intimate and anthemic.

Originally from Whitesnake’s 1989 album ‘Slip of the Tongue’, ‘Sailing Ships’ has a delicate beauty to it that makes the hairs on your arm stand up and has become a favourite and regular in the MoonKing’s live shows. ‘Out Of Reach’ is the only song that features drums, bass and violins and has a warm cascading elegance. The album closes with a new song, the instrumental 'Sundown'. Talking about it he says, “It was one of those beautiful early evenings in the late summer, the light turning pink, it was quiet and I was doodling away on my acoustic guitar. The melody that pretty much rolled off of my fingers really matched the vibe of that moment so I decided to record it and end the album with it. It felt like a very natural thing to do.”

Like the two MoonKings albums, ‘MoonKings’ (2014) and ‘MK II’ (2017) it was produced by Adrian Vandenberg himself. It was recorded between Vandenberg’s home studio and Jan Hoving’s farm which gives it the relaxed, intimate and natural feel, away from the clinical studio environment. It is Vandenberg and Hoving doing what they do and love the most, playing music straight from the heart.

The complete track listing features “What Doesn’t Kill You,” “Sailing Ships,” “Out Of Reach,” “One Step Behind,” “Burning Heart,” “Walk Away,” “Breathing,” and “Sundown.”  The album will be available in LP + MP3, CD, and digital formats.  A pre-order is now live here:  http://smarturl.it/VDBMK-DSP

“We have two very definite periods of the band, with two vocalists, almost like the Old and New Testaments, which was the influence behind the title and the artwork. Working closely with AFM we compiled a one disc collection that flows exactly like a concert setlist and gives the new listener a perfect introduction to our music and the avid fan a collection of the greatest songs in our arsenal“ stated bassist/founder Paul Logue.

Logue goes onto add “We are very much a band that listens to our fans and one thing we have been asked a lot is – can we have all the bonus tracks on one CD? It’s taken a while, but it’s here at last and with the added bonus of a brand new song called ‘Forever‘. I actually wrote ‘Forever‘ way back in 2005 for Pink Cream 69 singer David Readman’s solo album. His label pushed him in a more AOR direction, so I always kept this one on the back burner - ‘Sign Of The Cross‘ came from the same session. I always knew it would see the light of day and Thorsten and I reworked it and made it more in keeping with where we are today as a band. Back then, I had just read Dan Brown’s brilliant novel ‘Angels & Demons‘ and the lyrics are based around that whole story.“
‘Testament – The Best Of Eden’s Curse‘ will be released by AFM Records on 2nd November 2nd 2018.

Foreigner became the first group since the Beatles to have their first eight continuous singles reach the Billboard Top 20, with hits such as “Cold as Ice” and “Long, Long Way from Home” taking the world of rock music by storm. Gramm has also enjoyed a successful solo career in-between hiatuses with Foreigner, with his 1987 debut “Ready or Not” further proving his versatility in the music industry. JOHN PAYNE
Is a British musician best known as the lead singer and bassist of the progressive rock group ASIA. The early 80s marked the start of a solo career as a rock/soul vocalist, with Payne releasing several heavily played radio singles. This lead to a series of work singing backing vocals for a variety of prestigious artists and composers. John then formed The Passion with keyboardist Andy Nye before being approached by Bev Bevan of ELO to reform the band after the departure of singer Jeff Lynne. This was short lived as he was later invited to join the supergroup ASIA, where he fronted the group from 1992 to 2006, releasing 10 albums and embarking on several world tours. After a brief hiatus, John formed the progressive rock band GPS before returning to the reformation of ASIA as the new ASIA Featuring John Payne, which tours to date. He is also currently involved with various stage projects, including co-creating, performing, and writing an award-winning Vegas musical. His latest endeavor is The Rock Pack, which he plans to tour for many years to come.

CYHRA Issue Japanese Bonus Track As Digital Single

Cyhra have digitally released the single “Forever,” which was previously only available on the Japanese edition of their debut album Letters to Myself. The album is out now via Spinefarm RecordsThe band is currently recording the follow up at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark with producer Jacob Hansen. The album will be released in the first half of 2019.
Listen to “Forever” here.
“This song is an interesting collaboration between many different songwriters,” said singer Jake E. “The song was first written by Grammy Award nominated songwriter/artist Randy Goodrum —previous work includes Toto, Steve Perry, Michael Bolton, Chicago, Diztord, and more.”
He continued, “When I first heard the demo of the song, I begged on my knees to get approval to make my own version. Luckily, it was approved and we got free hands in Cyhra to contribute and make our version of it. It ended up as the Japanese bonus track for Letters to Myself and I’m happy to have it released to the rest of the world as it’s an amazing song.”
Regarding the forthcoming sophomore album, he said, “The whole process has been smooth and I can reveal that it will have more fierce songs, as well as more riff-oriented material than the first album. I can’t wait to hear the final results after Jacob Hansen has worked his magic mixing it. And I can’t wait for you to hear it, too!”
Guitarist Euge Valovirta added, “‘Forever’ is such a great track and I actually would’ve liked to have seen it on the album originally. But it didn’t find its place so we decided to put it on the Japanese edition of Letters to Myself as a bonus track. Now, finally, it’s available for the whole world to enjoy!”
CYHRA IS:
Vocals: Jake E
Guitar: Jesper Strömblad
