The melodic metal band Signum Regis just released a lyric video for the track "Lost And Found" online. Their new album "Chapter IV: The Reckoning" will be released on November 20th in Europe and North America through Ulterium Records.

Band founder Ronnie König comments about the new album: “It was the plan since get go, to make our best album so far. After releasing the EP earlier this year, it was clear that the bar was set pretty high. We worked very hard and we believe that we managed to lift the bar even higher in every aspect. Some of the songs on the album will become the classics of Signum Regis, that's for sure. There will be 10 new songs on the album, none of them appeared on the EP, which makes both the album and the "Through The Storm EP" a good buy for the fans.”

The mastering of "Through The Storm" was handled by Jacob Hansen [Volbeat, Amaranthe, Evergrey] and the artwork was created by Jan Yrlund [Delain, Apocalyptica, Korpiklaani].

LOVERBOY Hit And Miss In Los Angeles Concert

Artist:
Release Year:
2015

Tour News

By Gerry Gittelson
Melodicrock.com Los Angeles correspondent

LOS ANGELES -- Loverboy does not tour as frequently as fellow Canadian classic-rock acts such as Rush or Bryan Adams, so it was a rare treat when the fivesome performed before a capacity crowd at Canyon Club, one of Southern California's largest clubs.

In past visits, Loverboy has absolutely killed. This time, the group that has been around since 1979 showed their age just a bit, as singer Mike Reno sang well but struggled to hit the high notes, even though most of the songs were tuned down at least a full step.

Not that Loverboy did not succeed. The crowd (consisting of about 75 percent females!) certainly enjoyed the show -- and that's the most important thing -- and the band defintely put in a solid effort with a nearly two-hour set that featured all the big hits.

But because Reno is such a focal point in band that lacks any other real standouts, a lot of the thumbs-up/thumbs-down comes down to him. Not that it matters much anymore because no one would expect him to fit into the red leather pants pictured on the cover of "Get Lucky," but Reno continues to struggle with his weight. Reno does not move much either, pretty much planting himself in front of the mic stand for the duration.

Then again, Loverboy's songs are so effective that all the group really needs to do is execute and turn up the volume, and that's exactly what went down, so most of us left happy.

Put another away, Loverboy was able to afford holding their biggest two songs for the end -- "Turn Me Loose" and "Working For The Weekend" -- and it all worked out.

Spellbinding? No. Worth the money? Yes.

"The Kid Is Hot Tonight" found everyone pushing away their dinner plates and standing up. "Hot Girls in Love" saw the cougars roaring for all they were worth. "Lovin' Every Minute of It" tinged good memories of a lost generation when rock was king and FM radio ruled.

Originals Paul Dean (guitar), Doug Johnson (keyboards) and Matt Frenette (drums) are all still in place, so Loverboy remains more legitimate than a lot of others with only one or two longtimers.

Afterward, the group was in good spirits backstage.

"I do like to play Los Angeles, but then again, I like playing anywhere," Dean said

An unknown act called Crack-In-The-Shell opened. In keeping with the Canuck theme, the power trio wears its Rush influence on its sleeve, and the truth is the band went over very well and proved surprisingly entertaining.

Singer/guitarist Daniel Allen sounded great on "Waiting," bassist/keyboardist James McFadden kicked ass on "Catastrophic," and drummer Jason Russo pounded away with fury on "Hold On."

DEF LEPPARD, STYX Team to Rule Night in L.A. Forum Concert

Artist:
Release Year:
2015

Tour News

By Gerry Gittelson
Melodicrock.com Los Angeles correspondent

LOS ANGELES -- Styx is a tough act to follow, but Def Leppard was up to the challenge recently, when the two classic-rock icons teamed for well-received concert at the Forum, as both acts pushed one another before a capacity crowd of nearly 20,000 at one of the USA's most storied and prestigious arenas.

By the end of Styx's near-hour set culminating with "Come Sail Away," the audience was going absolutely crazy, and that's something you don't usually see for a support act, particularly in Los Angeles, where crowds are more apt to fold their arms.

The bands have been touring together for the summer -- in addition to third-billed Tesla, no slouch in its own right -- and this event was the acid test.

Opening with "Rock Rock Till You Drop" (aptly titled considering the members, now in their 50s, have been together together since the 1970s), Def Leppard showed straight away that the fivesome was taking things seriously.

No, Def Leppard is no over-the-hill gang simply looking to cash in with nostalgia. Everyone still has great chops, particularly Joe Elliott, who proved in fine voice through the proceedings. He sang loud and clear, everyone knew all the words to just about every song, and what a performance by guitarists Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell.

The crowd was jumping up and down for "Foolin'," while "Bringin' On The Heartbreak" proved a big crowd-pleaser, too. Bassist Rick Savage and drummer Rick Allen were holding down the rhythm section to such a hearty degree that we could feel the beat against our chests; Allen is especially inspirational, of course, because he has one arm, and the crowd showed a lot of adoration for him.

By the time Def Leppard got around to the closing "Pure Some Sugar on Me" and encores "Rock of Ages" and "Photograph," the crowd remained all theirs.

Definitely a triumphant night for the Brits.

Meantime, Styx absolutely kicked ass. It wasn't so long ago the group was headlining arenas in their own right -- including a three-night stint on the very same stage back in the day -- and now that singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw has adopted Los Angeles as his home town, the performance felt like a celebration.

"Grand Illusion" came first, and there aren't many classic-rock favorites that have a bigger hook. "Fooling Yourself" found Shaw getting the cougars up front all hot and bothered. "Miss America" saw James Young singing loud and proud, and the execution by all involved was spot-on.

Lawrence Gowan has a heck of a voice in his own right, so what you have with Styx is this: three excellent singers, crisp musicianship surpassed only perhaps by Rush in North America, plus songs that lodge themselves on your brain and refuse to leave for days.

Tesla was excellent, too. Jeff Keith sung his butt off, and among the most well-received selections were "Gettin' Better," "Hang Tough," "Signs" and the awesome "Modern Day Cowboy."
