FEMME FATALE Releases Second Album 'One More From The Road'

Femme Fatale releases their long awaited second album, One More For The Road, on FnA Records (www.fnarecords.net) this spring of 2016.  The album was recorded back in 1989/90 with the original band members and has never seen the light of day…until now.  One More From The Road picks up right where the debut release left off.

In 1988 Hair Band “Femme Fatale” made some big noise on radio and MTV with 2 very popular songs and videos - “Waiting For The Big One” & “Fallin’ In and Out of Love” from their first release on MCA Records. There was a U.S. tour with Cheap Trick & dates in the U.K. and heavy rotation for the videos.

MCA was ready for a second release from the band & had them writing with outside writers & rehearsing once they got back from the tour.
“Yeah, it was all really exciting to think we were going to get back in the studio since we had really cut our teeth out on the road” says Lorraine Lewis – singer & songwriter for the band. “I was having writing sessions with some really great L.A. songwriters like Wes Arkeen (considered the 6th member of Guns & Roses who co-wrote “It’s So Easy” with Duff McKagen) and Jack Conrad (Heart, John Waite).

There were big plans for this “baby band” & an industry “buzz” had been established primarily from Femme Fatale’s popular videos and their live shows.

“When we thought we had written a good number of songs we liked, we booked some time at a rehearsal studio in the valley to record our demos for the label,” says Lewis. “The boys had been working hard on arrangements & I was busy spending my time hanging out with Sunset Strip bands like D’ Molls & Poison, and Rock City Angels. We asked our friend Toby Wright, also from Albuquerque to come down to help with the recording.” Toby was the engineer for “heavy hitters”- Ron Nevison (Heart) & Mike Clink (G n’ R).
The result of this studio time was a bunch of rough demos that the band was going to present to MCA records, to show them where Femme Fatale was heading.  With a changing musical landscape and new record personnel, the band was ultimately dropped from the label.  Move twenty-five years forward and those demos were still closely guarded by Lorraine, stored away in between the pages of To Kill A Mockingbird.  Femme Fatale fans have always been screaming for a second FF album, and the time has finally come.

Lorraine Lewis states, “Thanks to F n A Records, this long time lost gem is finally seeing the light of day! These recordings are raw, rough, and have a live feel to them. They have been mastered by F n A Records and it is important to note that even though the quality is not perfect, these recordings were made over a quarter of a century ago with the original members of Femme Fatale!”

One More For The Road, contains 14 blistering tracks with obvious Femme Fatale hits like “Lady In Waiting”, “Don’t Mean Nothin’” and “Til It’s Shot” and the power ballad “Buried Alive”.  Additionally, we hear Lorraine Lewis’ voice on her mesmerizing version of Janis Joplin’s “Piece Of My Heart.”

It’s been a quarter of a century coming and its finally here for the fans to embrace; a true gem recorded back in the day; Hear what you have been missing…One More For The Road.

TOTO Cancel Show as JOSEPH WILLIAMS Hospitalised

TOTO were forced to cancel; their Denver gig last night due to singer JOSPEH WILLIAMS taking Ill and being briefly hospitalised. But he's doing ok - here's his update:

To the wonderful Toto fans, friends and family,
Last night in Denver I experienced my first real bout of altitude sickness! That, plus some dehydration that I wasn’t keeping track of, concerned me enough to get checked out by a doctor at the local hospital as the paramedics on site deemed it a necessary precaution.
Ultimately docs said I was totally fine, told me to drink more water and sent me back to the tour bus.
I am AOK and will see everyone at the show tomorrow night in Salt Lake City!
I am SO sorry for scaring folks and for the inevitable cancellation of our show in Denver.
I promise at the earliest opportunity we will return to Colorado to make it up to all of you who came out to see us.
Big thanks all of you and my brothers and sisters in Toto for the amazing show of support.
Love and Blessings
Joseph Williams

The following five new Rock Candy titles are available now from www.rockcandyrecords.com for a discounted price including postage to anywhere ending on September 18.

RTZ 'RETUN TO ZERO' CANDY291

THERE IS NO question that Boston, the band, pretty much re-wrote the rule book when it came to defining the sound of melodic hard rock. Their self-titled debut album established a blue print that provided a touchstone for every similar act that came in its wake, paving the way for numerous artists to carve out successful commercial careers for themselves; Foreigner, Journey and Survivor spring immediately to mind.

After attaining huge success and experiencing all the pressures that such achievement often brings, Boston, understandably, started to fracture, with leader Tom Scholz taking complete control of his vision. Guitarist Barry Goudreau was the first member to strike out on his own, issuing a well received solo album in 1980, followed by the formation of Orion The Hunter, who released a stellar record in 1984. Looking to further build on his reputation, he reunited with his former Boston colleague, vocalist Brad Delp, the duo collaborating in RTZ, a brand new project.

Issued in 1991, RTZ took the Boston blue print one step further, writing songs very much influenced by the sound of their previous outfits, but also injected with the spit and polish of the late eighties. Recorded in Los Angeles by Chris Lord Alge, the album boasts some of the most arresting melodic hard rock that has ever been crafted. Every song is a true winner, with Brad Delp excelling beyond our wildest dreams. Overlooked at the time, primarily due to the arrival of the grunge movement, this album is actually a monumental sonic achievement.

SPECIAL DELUXE COLLECTOR'S EDITION, FULLY REMASTERED SOUND, FEATURES TWO ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF BOSTON - VOCALIST BRAD DELP AND GUITARITS BARRY GOUDREAU, 16 PAGE FULL COLOUR BOOKLET, 3,500 WORD ESSAY ABOUT THE MAKING OF THE ALBUM, NEW INTERVIEW WITH BARRY GOUDREAU, ENHANCED ARTWORK AND PREVIOUSLY UNSEEN PHOTOS.

TRACK LISTING:1. FACE THE MUSIC 2. THERE'S ANOTHER SIDE 3. ALL YOU'VE GOT 4. THIS IS MY LIFE 5. RAIN DOWN ON ME 6. EVERY DOOR IS OPEN 7. DEVIL TO PAY 8. UNTIL YOUR LOVE COMES BACK AROUND 9. LIVIN' FOR THE ROCK 'N' ROLL 10. HARD TIME (IN THE BIG HOUSE) 11. RETURN TO ZERO

TKO 'LET IT ROLL' CANDY316

THE COMMONLY HELD BELIEF is that Seattle's influential hard rock scene started during the early 90s with the establishment of grunge. However, peel back the layers and you'll see that even grunge had to have roots. It's no surprise then to find that TKO, and specifically band leaders Brad Sinsel and Rick Pierce, were at the very beginning of those rumblings, all be it wearing very different clothes.

Formed in 1977, the band was originally spotted by Albatross Productions, the original team that first signed and recorded Heart. It wasn't long before newly formed MCA subsidiary Infinity Records placed them in the studio with original Heart producer Mike Flicker, to record their debut album 'Let It Roll'. Originally issued in early 1979, the album was the subject of a major promotional push with the band's progress only to be thwarted by the label's subsequent financial collapse as a result of advancing $6 million dollars for a part spoken word album of Pope John Paul II.

Musically 'Let It Roll' was geared towards the 70s rock sound we all know and love, evoking comparisons to the Who, Bowie and Queen, but it was clear that, beneath the smooth productions chops, a hard rock band was itching to impress. Tracks such as 'Ain't No Way', 'Come A Day' and 'Rock 'n' Roll Again' bringing to mind the pouting and preening of fine arena acts like Foreigner and more obscure outfits like Trigger and Face Dancer.

SPECIAL DELUXE COLLECTOR'S EDITION, FULLY REMASTERED SOUND, 7 LIVE BONUS TRACKS, PRODUCED BY MIKE FLICKER (HEART, TROOPER), 12 PAGE FULL COLOUR BOOKLET, 3,500 WORD ESSAY ABOUT THE MAKING OF THE ALBUM, NEW INTERVIEW WITH BRAD SINSEL, ENHANCED ARTWORK AND PREVIOUSLY UNSEEN PHOTOS.

ROCK AND ROLL AGAIN 11. BAD SISTER 12. WHAT IN THE WORLD 13. GUTTER BOY 14. KILL THE PAIN 15. ONLY LOVE 16. LET IT ROLL

TKO 'IN YOUR FACE' CANDY317

SADLY, TKO's INITIAL momentum was quickly squashed when their label, Infinity Records, made a disastrous financial blunder by signing Pope John Paul II, with a non recoupable $6 million dollar advance. It was an investment that forced the collapse of the label, leaving TKO cast adrift trying to pick up the pieces in a world that was always looking for new fresh talent rather than rescuing those who were left floundering in shallow water.

So TKO, needed to reinvent there selves, in a way that didn't evoke the tired formulaic arena rock of the past. In this respect, the band, now led by Brad Sinsel, set about not only reconstructing their line up but also a new sound. This time around they honed in on raw hard rock, crafting a sound that had more in common with European tastes than American acts. Enlisting musicians that included guitarist Adam 'Bomb' Brenner and signing a production deal with producer Rick Keefer, the band flew to Hawaii and recorded 'In Your Face', arguably one of the best American hard rock records of the era.

Despite the quality of their material, getting a deal proved problematic, resulting in the band splintering, to be brought back into existence by Sinsel when Combat Records eventually offered a contract. Ahead of its time, the riffs and aggression were raw, hard and unrelenting. In fact, the record was hailed as a minor masterpiece influencing much of the US hard rock scene for years to come.

TKO 'BELOW THE BELT' CANDY318

TKO's VERY EXISTENCE always appeared to be on the brink of implosion but, miraculously, the band nearly always pulled through, picking up the pieces just when the final curtain call seemed inevitable. The credit for this determination to keep pushing TKO forward must be laid at the feet of vocalist and band leader Brad Sinsel who doggedly refused to give up the fight even when defeat was staring him in the face.

Looking to capitalise on the band's previous album and the positive critical feedback it received, Brad assembled another revised line up and looked to up-date their musical style with bolder and better riffs. Once again produced by Rick Kefer at his studio in Hawaii, the record succeeded on several levels. The songs were hard hitting and precise, whilst the playing took no prisoners, mining a raw but melodic seam reminiscent of W.A.S.P., RATT and Quiet Riot whilst always acknowledging that the hooks needed to punch home a message.

The band found a fresh new home for this record with premiere independent label Roadrunner Records. Once again, the critical reception was wildly enthusiastic, complimenting the band on their raw yet melodic approach that left no stone unturned in an effort to maximise the music's impact. Sadly however, sales were not strong enough to push the band to the next level. Again, another example of an act that, despite putting up a valiant fight, was forever destined to be a highly influential footnote in the hard rock hall of fame.

WRATHCHILD AMERICA 'CLIMBIN' THE WALLS' CANDY294

BACK IN THE late 80s rock music appeared to be splitting into two fractions; melodic hard rock and thrash metal. Although these two camps were, in effect, polar opposite, fans of either were always appreciative of  the aesthetics of both. At the heavier end of the spectrum bands such as Slayer, Megadeath and Metallica were enjoying a wave of popularity that had started to influence a number of younger acts, including Sepultura, Prong, Pantera and... Wrathchild America.

Based on America's east coast, the band, initially just called Wrathchild, developed a following and style that would eventually lead to a shot at the big time with major label powerhouse Atlantic Records. Recorded in Los Angeles, with seasoned engineer/producer Mark Dearnley (AC/DC, Krokus, Circus Of Power), 'Climbin' The Walls' was set to become a cornerstone release in the world of thrash and power metal, but plans were delayed by the intervention of a British glam metal band using the same name. Issued with a cease and desist order the US band, at the eleventh hour, adopted the amended moniker of Wrathchild America.

This necessary last minute name change added an element of confusion to the album launch. Very much in tune with the times, heavy, raw and packed with explosive firepower, the nine tracks fitted the genre perfectly, combining thrash, speed and progressive metal in one glorious bundle. Look out for an inspired cover of Pink Floyd's 'Time', a surprising take on a classic track, with a mouth watering twist.

SPECIAL DELUXE COLLECTOR'S EDITION, FULLY REMASTERED SOUND, EAST COAST THRASH METAL KINGS, 16 PAGE FULL COLOUR BOOKLET, 3,500 WORD ESSAY ABOUT THE MAKING OF THE ALBUM, NEW INTERVIEWS, ENHANCED ARTWORK AND PREVIOUSLY UNSEEN PHOTOS.

TRACK LISTING: 1. CLIMBIN' THE WALLS 2. HELL'S GATE 3. NO DEPOSIT, NO RETURN 4. HERNIA 5. LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT 6. CANDY FROM A MADMAN 7. SILENT DARKNESS (SMOTHERED LIFE) 8. TIME 9. DAY OF THE THUNDER

ANGELS OR KINGS Back With 'Go Ask The Moon' October 30

Angels or Kings return with their infectiously melodic new album “Go Ask The Moon”, continuing where they left off with an AOR treat for fans of the genre.

[]

They were first formed in Manchester in the late 80’s and were well known to those in the UK AOR scene. The band recorded various demos and played shows the length of the country with artists such as Dare and Danger Danger. Although there had been some interest expressed by various record companies, AOK as they were then known, ultimately disbanded unable to secure a deal in a changing musical environment. Three of the original members reformed in 2011, recruited a new vocalist and subsequently began to write songs for what would become their debut album. The album was written over a period of a couple of years with the band managing to attract a good deal of attention along the way. Various radio stations had started to air the demos and one of the songs was entered into a competition and the newly renamed Angels Or Kings subsequently won the chance to open the last ever Firefest in 2014. The album Kings of Nowhere was released to coincide with this high profile festival appearance.

A wealth of positive reviews of Kings of Nowhere offered comparisons to Foreigner, Journey and Harem Scarem plus British acts FM, Strangeways and Dare. It appeared in many people's top ten albums of the year and in some cases topped the pile. Rob Evans of Classic Rock /AOR, Powerplay magazine and AOR Underground made it his album of the year in 2014. Further successful shows including an appearance at HRH AOR festival followed in 2015.

Building on this success, the band has returned to AOR Heaven to release their second album entitled Go Ask The Moon. Writing for the album started straight after Kings of Nowhere and 11 new songs have been written with the final song completed in July 2016. Again, the album was produced by Steve Kenny at his own Shabby Road studio and Mad Hat Studio in Wolverhampton.  Mixing, mastering and engineering duties were performed by Sheena Sear and Mark Stuart from Mad Hat who are both well known for their work with Magnum.

The band are hopeful that a video will be released to support the album which is due out at the end of October and you can catch Angels or Kings on the final day of the Rockingham festival in Nottingham UK in October 2016.

Angels or Kings are delighted to announce that Dave Ellis  (keyboards) and Daniel Bate  (bass) have joined the band for live dates. They will join Baz Jackson (vocals) Tony Bell and Steve Kenny (guitars) and Andy Chemney (drums) to complete the lineup.

NIVA Gets Heavier on 'Atmospherical'

Artist:
Friday, October 28, 2016

In the realms of melodic metal, Sweden's Lion's Share has been synonymous with class and quality for over two decades. Not least thanks to a succession of great vocalists: Andy Engberg (220 Volt, Sorcerer, Section A), Nils Patrik Johansson (Astral Doors, Wuthering Heights, Civil War et al)... and who else? Oh yes - Tony Niva, the vocal powerhouse from Lion's Share's seminal fourth album ”Entrance” (2001).

NIVA MUSIC GROUP in co-operation with AOR Heaven now will release the new and sixth album by NIVA on October 28.

Tony Niva started singing as a young boy in the mid-80s, inspired by the likes of Dio, Joe Lynn Turner and Geoff Tate. After cutting his teeth in classic acts like Swedish Erotica and Axia, Tony formed his own outfit NIVA whose debut album ”No Capitulation” arrived in 1994 (featuring Ian Haugland of Europe/Glenn Hughes fame behind the kit). Despite the quality of this melodic affair, NIVA folded shortly afterwards. After graduating from the university, Tony joined Lion's Share long enough to record the aforementioned ”Entrance” and left the music scene again shortly afterwards. However, in 2011 Tony tried out for the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest with the song ”Janitor of Love”. With limited success, on paper. Creatively the result was so satisfying that Tony extended his collaboration with his new songwriting team. NIVA's comeback album ”Gold From the Future” was released in Japan in the fall of 2011. (On the European and American market, the album was released under the moniker Oxygen and entitled ”Final Warning”.)

"I've been focusing on my career in the IT business, so I didn't make much music between 1994 and 2011", says Tony. But after that second NIVA album, I made two more: ”Magnitude” in 2013 and ”Incremental IV” in 2014. And after that, I thought I might as well release what I recorded in 1995 as the intended follow-up to ”No Capitulation”: ”Relievin' Rain” (2015). Now, however, I'm back with a whole new incarnation of NIVA. On this new album, I wanted to broaden my horizons. Different production, a heavier sound. So I've been working with Lars Chriss, my old pal from the Lion's Share days.

Lars Chriss, now a highly renowned producer with the likes of Overland, Chris Ousey, Radioactive, Seven and Lugnet on his resumé, has lent his producing, song-writing and guitar-playing skills to NIVA's sixth outing, ”Atmospherical”. Don't let the title fool you - NIVA has definitely moved away from the AOR-ish, comparative softness on previous works.

"This is more of a melodic metal sound", Tony agrees. "It rocks harder, it's more riff-based and the keyboards are less prominent."

Obviously. Besides Lars and Tony himself, former Lion's Share luminaries Kay Backlund (keyboards) and monster bassist Andy Loos (also of Glory, Seven, Covered Call fame - to name but a few) have also lent their considerable skills to the creation of ”Atmospherical”. The album even includes a stellar remake of Lion's Share 1988 debut single, ”I'm on a roll”. So the Lion's Share reminiscence is very much intentional.

Line-up: Tony Niva - Lead vocals; Lars Chriss - Lead and rhythm guitars, Drums; Andy Loos - Bass; Kay Backlund - Keyboards (Dressed To Kill, Wall Of Bricks, Spirit Of The Night, Déj-  Vu, I’m On A Roll, Evil Rose, Raise Your Voice); Fredrik Bergh - Keyboards (The Mountain, Play Our Songs, Forbidden Lover); Nigel Bailey - Backing vocals (appears courtesy of Frontiers Records Srl); Mick Devine - Additional backing vocals (Evil Rose, Wall Of Bricks); George Bailey - Additional backing vocals (Dressed To Kill)
