KAI HANSEN TO RELEASE DEBUT SOLO ALBUM XXX IN AUGUST 2016

ANNOUNCES DONATION TO WACKEN FOUNDATION

EXCLUSIVE PERFORMANCE AT WACKEN OPEN AIR FESTIVAL 2016

KAI HANSEN, earMUSIC, and WACKEN Foundation are happy to announce the release of XXX, the first "solo project" album by Kai Hansen, one of the most influential guitarists and singers to emerge from Germany during the first part of the '80s. First with ground-breaking band HELLOWEEN (of which Hansen is one of the founding members) and later with GAMMA RAY, one of the bands that contributed to defining the genre power metal, bringing it to a generation of devoted fans worldwide since its first album.

XXX is, in pure Hansen tongue-in-cheek style, a reference to over 30 years of involvement in the world of heavy rock, as explained with the album's sub-title: Three Decades In Metal.

The album will be released in August 2016 on earMUSIC with further news to be shared soon.

XXX is a magical journey. It is the story of how powerful dreams can be.

Dreams and passions big enough to bring a teenager from Hamburg who is in love with rock music, glam rock and the first heavy metal sounds from the practicing space in his bedroom and rehearsal rooms to the biggest stages in the world practicing, and ending up influencing and sharing the stage with the very same bands he admired in the first place.

Not strictly autobiographical, XXX is without doubt the story of Kai Hansen but it could very well represent the story of anybody who is not afraid to believe in dreams, with passion and dedication. It is the story of the ups and downs that everybody faces at some point during the journey of life: the lost and found-again friends, the glory, the tragedies and the joys.

After the achievements enjoyed by Hansen lately with Unisonic and especially Gamma Ray's recent work Empire of the Undead, Kai Hansen has started working on the album with no precise commercial masterplan - just playing music with the same spirit as in the very beginning.

This certainly was the reason for Hansen to communicate to his label the intention of donating the first advance payment he will receive for XXX which in the meantime was shaping into a proper album to the Wacken Foundation.

The Foundation helps and supports young hard rock and heavy metal bands for over seven years now: Musicians full of hopes and dreams, exactly as Hansen had in the beginning of the 30 years story told on this album... in the hope that one day, somebody could tell another 30 years long magic story, also thanks to this album.

Together with Hansen, a stellar band of musicians gravitating around the Chameleon Studio in Hamburg has formed spontaneously.

There's Alex Dietz (guitar player of Heaven Shall Burn) on bass, Eike Freese (who already worked as engineer and co-producer with Hansen on the last Gamma Ray album) on guitar, and phenomenal drummer Daniel Wilding (Carcass). The four will be joined by various guests, ranging from friends to followers to heroes - some having played a significant part in Kaai's career, some who have expressed the wish to join the project with the same spirit that is leading Kai, Alex, Eike, and Daniel to create loud music with joy, freedom and determination.

Kai and friends will do an exclusive one-time performance at this year’s Wacken Open Air Festival, introducing the songs from the album to the audience for the first and only time.

Watch the video of Kai Hansen and Eike Freese discussing XXX here.

Talking about XXX (while in the studio, recording guitars), Hansen has declared, "30 years in metal, that’s a damn long time. Over the course of all these years, I never recorded a solo album. It is quite nice and a hell lot of fun to create something without any boundaries and to get a fresh view on music. I am celebrating 30 years of being able to do what I like best...

"On XXX, I am reflecting on my roots, where I come from, how it all started for me. I believe you need a certain drive, passion and of course a bit of luck and coincidence to make it in the music world - and of course some financial support. This is where the Wackeen Foundation came to my mind. They are helping people, musicians just like me, who want to make it. And I remember having had help myself, from my family, the families from the other band members - and by ddoing a paper round. So hopefully, with my donation, young musicians are given the same chance that I was given a long time ago, too. And who knows, maybe we all will be playing together at Wacken in 20 years…"

Wacken Foundation's Thomas Jensen adds, "This is really generous donation to the Wacken Foundation. Heavy metal is a way of life - and with this this amazing gesture Kai showed what it stands foor: selflessness, thoughtfulness and most of all the passion and love for music. The goal of the foundation is to keep this kind of spirit going. With Kai is doing we are one step closer to this goal."

CRUZH Set To Debut on August 26

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of the self titled debut album from Swedish AOR-sters CRUZH on August 26th!

CRUZH was put together, after the demise of Swedish glam rockers TrashQueen, in which both Anton Joensson and Dennis Butabi Borg played. They shared a love for melodic rock and AOR and joined forces with Tony Andersson, who previously worked as a studio musician on the never released TrashQueen record.

It all started in March 2013 when CRUZH was announced online. The only things shown to the public were an image of the silhouette of the three band members, the debut song "In a Blink of an Eye," information that the band was Swedish, and the text "Get ready for the CRUZH". The song quickly spread on the internet and both Swedish and international websites and radio stations played it and speculated about the identities of the band members. In May came the sequel "Stay", which continued in the same melodic rock spirit. Meanwhile, the band spread various clues on social media regarding their whereabouts. In the fall of 2013 CRUZH had reached a point where they chose to 'unmask' and take it all to the next level and reach out to the masses together with the release of the Hard To Get EP, the first of two very successful self-produced demos. Hard To Get and its successor, the darker Aim For The Head got great reviews worldwide.

By late spring of 2015, just when Cruzh was about to release a new EP, they were approached by Frontiers Music Srl who wanted to sign the band, so CRUZH started the recording process by the end of summer 2015. The result is truly an awesome debut, in the spirit of Def Leppard, Danger Danger, H.E.A.T, Winger, Firehouse and Bryan Adams.

'We all share the love for Melodic Rock,' says bassist Dennis Butabi Borg, 'but in the meantime we all have very different musical background and inspirations. This shows in our songs'. 'When we started out, almost immediately I felt this synergy in the band,' adds Tony Andersson, 'and despite our musical backgrounds and differences, we all head in the same direction.' 'When a piece of music is coming to me and I am developing someone else's work, I am filled with some sort of emotion that I want to convey,' concludes guitarist Anton Joensson, 'it's easy to do this in a natural way with CRUZH because I could not feel more at home with our band and the music we create. This is also true with Tony and Dennis. This is who we are!'

CRUZH tracklisting includes the following songs: In N' Out Of Love; First Cruzh; Aim For The Head; Anything For You; Survive; Stay; Hard To Get; You; Set Me Free; Before I Walk Alone; Straight From My Heart.

Stockholm Rocks 2016 - July Event To Feature REACH, JOE LYNN TURNER, DYNAZTY

Tour News

Stockholm Rocks again - new event already in July 2016 - Friday 22 and Saturday 23;

With four Stockholm Rocks events completed and the steady growth of interest we have decided to host a 5th edition in the middle of summer ' Stockholm Rocks Summerfest on July 22nd-23rd. We are picking up where V'sby Rocks unfortunately had to call it a day. So, the artists are in the same vein, melodic rock, but maybe a bit more towards the heavier side. We also would like to promote young bands who are bringing the tradition into the future, but of course also celebrate some household great musicians who has been making ear candy for the last 30-or-so years. We are proud to present:

Joe Lynn Turner, legendary singer with a past in Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen and Deep Purple but not to miss his own material ' a new album was released in May ' check out Sunstorm

Santa Cruz, four young Finnish rockers with attitude and loads of guitar. They recently toured UK and now they have been in the US since April. A new single was released the other day

Erik Gronwall, the voice of H.E.A.T, will be making a special appearance and playing an acoustic gig together with band colleague Jonah T. The set will consist of H.E.A.T material and his rock favourites

Iron Savior, German power metallers who has been giving us a good headbanging with 10 albums for the last 20 years. Loads of guitar and a steady beat ' the latest album Titancraft is reaching the stores this week

Dynazty, introduced to the Swedish audience at a local Eurovision event making a metal version of a winner. With their 5th album they have moved on and bring us melodic metal ' Titanic Mass

Reach, had already getting attention with making a rock cover of Avicii's hit 'Wake me up'. Then Ludvig Turner brought rock into the Swedish Idol contest, recorded their debut album and played 30 gigs in UK and throughout Europe last year. With hooks from the 80's mixed with youthful energy they want to 'Reach out to Rock' even further now

Hysterica, four young ladies who put a lot of effort into making their shows a musical and visual experience. Two albums and an EP full of heavy metal they will kick some ass - and with the latest single 'Ease my mind' they also show a soft side ' but only a little

DGM Line Up 8th Album 'The Passage' On Frontiers

Artist:
Friday, August 26, 2016
Categories:
News Feed

Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release of the brand new album from Italian prog metal masters DGM, entitled 'The Passage', on August 26.

'The Passage' is DGM's eighth studio album and is the culmination of almost 20 years of hard work that started back in 1997 with the release of their self-produced mini-album, 'Random Access Zone'. The band went through several incarnations and lineup changes during the years, but since singer Mark Basile joined the group in 2007, DGM evolved and developed their sound into what they have now become.

It was probably the release of 'Frame' (2007) that pushed the band into the top of the league of international prog metal. It was also on the strength of this material that DGM managed to tour for almost four years around the world, taking part in some of the biggest metal festivals, supporting Symphony X on their European tour, and sharing the stage with Pagan's Mind too. In 2013, DGM came back with "Momentum", an album which showed the full stylistic maturity of a band which felt fully confident with their abilities, both on the songwriting and the musicianship side. The last album was promoted with more shows and after several gigs in Europe, they performed for the second time at ProgPower USA and started their first Asian tour in November 2014 playing Beijing, Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka as headliners.

The new album, 'The Passage' is another substantial step forward for DGM. Sounding like a hungry, urbanized version of Symphony X, with substantial hard rock influences, the new record is remarkable in several aspects. The compositions are phenomenal, with sweeping choruses, technical passages, lightning fast fretwork, big vocals and bombastic transitions. The playing is simply faultless and the melodies are perfectly woven into the killer guitars, epic keyboards, and pounding drums!

'This album can easily be seen as our most ambitious work to date,' says guitarist and producer Simone Mularoni. 'This time we tried to evolve to an even more personal sound. We took all the elements we developed through all these years and we tried to take them to the limit. Throughout the whole record you will hear a recurrent musical theme. Instead of doing a usual concept album with the lyrics, we decided to do a sort of musical concept with this melody that repeats in every song but every time with different time signatures and keys,' tells drummer Fabio Costantino. 'This album will offer to the listener a key for a positive dimension. A path made of sound vibrations: The Passage to our dreams and hopes,' concludes bassist Andrea Arcangeli.

Evergrey singer Tom Englund and Symphony X guitarist Michael Romeo also appear as special guests tributing the value of this outstanding album. And let's not forget the great job that producer Simone Mularoni did in the studio! The future looks bright for these guys! Check them out live when they come to a town near you!

'The Passage' tracklisting includes: The Secret (Part 1); The Secret (Part 2); Animal; Ghosts Of Insanity; Fallen; The Passage; Disguise; Portrait; Daydreamer; Dogma; In Sorrow.

DARE Visit 'Sacred Ground' On Brand New Album

Artist:
Friday, July 15, 2016
Categories:
News Feed

DARE will release their long awaited new studio album Sacred Ground in Europe on July 15.

SACRED GROUND is the bands much awaited 7th studio album; a modern classic, original, yet instantly addictive. It features some of Wharton’s  most mature song writing to date.  Thought provoking and passionate, whilst still retaining a dark rock edge. As the band’s Worldwide fan base eagerly anticipate the new album, Sacred Ground is destined to be another classic album by AOR Rock legends  DARE.

Fronted by singer songwriter Darren Wharton (who first rose to fame in the early eighties playing keyboards with legendary Irish rock band Thin Lizzy), DARE are one of the most respected and innovative melodic rock bands working today, gaining cult status among AOR fans throughout Europe, the UK and the world. The band’s debut 1989 album ‘Out Of The Silence’ recorded at Joni Mitchell’s Bel Air Studio Los Angeles, and produced by Nickelback  producer Mike Shipley is still widely regarded today as one of the all time great AOR albums.

Darren joined Philip Lynott’s  Thin Lizzy  at the tender age of eighteen and enjoyed 5 great years with the band touring extensively, alongside  renowned guitarist Scott Gorham, drummer Brian Downey, guitarists Snowy White (Pink Floyd),  Gary Moore and John Sykes (Whitesnake).  Working closely with Philip Lynott, Darren also recorded classic Thin Lizzy albums, such as ‘Chinatown’, ‘Renegade’, and ‘Thunder and Lightning’ on which Wharton co-wrote 3 songs, including the hit single ‘The Sun Goes Down’.  Sadly, the latter was to be Thin Lizzy’s last studio album, and in 1986 Darren Wharton returned to his home town of Manchester where, as an outlet for his creative flare for song writing and working with young Oldham guitarist Vinny Burns, he formed his own band, DARE.

Darren re-joined Thin Lizzy in 1994 and the band continues to tour extensively around the world to rapturous fans and huge audiences. The band recently completed a big tour of the USA with Judas Priest and recently supported Guns ‘n’ Roses in the UK as well as scores of major festival shows.

Wharton’s style of song writing, modern anthemic rock with Celtic overtones, coupled with the bands powerful live performances throughout Europe and the UK ( Sweden Rock,  BYH Festival Germany)  have gained Dare the reputation as a bright force on the British rock scene.

Line-up:
Darren Wharton - Vocals & Keyboards
Vinny Burns - Guitars
Kevin Whitehead - Drums
Nigel Clutterbuck - Bass
Marc Roberts - Keys (live)r
