FAITH CIRCUS Announce New Lineup

Norway's FAITH CIRCUS have announced their new lineup for their upcoming tour dates and new studio album due on MelodicRock Records later this year.
New members are:

Mr. Hansen: With over 25 years of experience behind the kit, playing on numerous recordings & live with different bands/artists, you couldn't ask for a better 'hit-man'!This rock solid mercenary, who even sat in at a couple of FC shows back in 2013, has finally found refuge inside the Circus...

Malla: A local legend & go-to-guy when it comes to live/studio work in the Bergen area! First came to attention through the 'Trio Gallini' CD (1991). Has since played on the 'On The Rise' (Frontiers 2003) & 'Main Attraction' (MTM 2006) albums, as well as Norwegian guitar virtuoso Jarle H. Olsen's 'Quadrasonic' (2011) disc. The only thing more mind-blowing than his musical abilities...are his extreme dry sense of humor!

Flame: With a name like that you know this guy will set the stage on fire any chance he gets! Has performed (as Ace Frehley) from 2010-2013 at the annual 'FAITH CIRCUS & Friends play KISS' Christmas shows. There are those that say he'd be a better fit than Tommy Thayer...

Marcus Greenway: This hot-shot slipped just beneath the radar last time FC were forced to replace lead guitarist. Although he might be the youngest member of the band he's been bottle-fed a heavy mix of Slash & Lynch...and it shows! And to our female fans we'd just like to say...'You're Welcome!'

Marc Farrano: Yeah...nothing new here!...

US rockers Talon have been through a few singers now, while the core of the band has remained the same. The guys have delivered 3 solid albums, but the debut with vocalist Michael O’Mara is still my favourite, so when news of Michael’s return to the band came through, Fourplay instantly become an anticipated album.
This time the guys have hooked up with Bombay Black’s Ty Sims to handle production duties. He’s someone who really knows his way around a mixing board.
And the combined results of Ty and Michael’s involvement on this record help make some quality songs even better – therefore it’s pretty easy to say that the band have delivered arguably their best album to date. Without question the best since the debut.

The only thing I can’t figure out is why Spun opens the album. It’s probably my favourite track on here actually, but sonically it is unlike any other track and more pop/rock than hard rock. It features guest Tim Pierce on lead guitar and an instantly catchy chorus. But maybe not the pick of the album for an opening track.
Aside from that, the rest of the album moves into the regular Talon beat of catchy hard rocking songs with a melodic heart, good rhythm and plenty of guitar licks.
Michael’s voice is made for these guys.

It’s easy to see why the tracks Sin City Sister and Holly Would are right up front – classic Talon right there.
Rockers Evil and It’s A Fine Line both impress and the mid-tempo melodic rocker Raise Em High is a nice sentimental touch.
On a lighter note, the acoustic I Don’t Wanna Cry is another departure for the band, but in a good way. The mature ballad flows beautifully and almost matches the production vibe of Spun.
The more familiar styled ballad Tonight is another highlight.

Anyone that’s followed John Parker and the guys knows what to expect and that’s exactly what you get with this album. Only better.
Good old-school American hard rock, with a couple of twists in there to keep fans on their toes.

Drummer PHIL RUDD Wants Back in With AC/DC

Phil Rudd says his AC/DC bandmates have been giving him the cold shoulder, even though he's reached out to guitarist Angus Young asking to rejoin the veteran rockers.
The 60-year-old drummer isn't playing with AC/DC on their world tour after he was charged last year of threatening to kill a contractor and for drug possession at his home in Tauranga on New Zealand's North Island.

He says his current bail conditions would allow him to rejoin the band on the tour, but the band have ignored his pleas.
"They haven't called me. I wrote them a letter and I tried to get in touch with Angus but I have had no contact from anybody," Rudd told the Nine Network's A Current Affair.
"I'm very disappointed, but that's life."
"Phil created his own situation. It's a hard thing to say about the guy. He's a great drummer, and he's done a lot of stuff for us. But he seems to have let himself go. He's not the Phil we've known from the past," Young said.Angus Young responded to A Current Affair in a statement, explaining that Rudd had changed from the bandmate they originally knew.

HIGH ROAD EASY Promoting Album Number 3

Wednesday, May 6, 2015
Categories:
News Feed
"III" is a modern rock album inspired by 70' and 80's classic rock as well as the current rock sound. One can tell that HIGH ROAD EASY took their time (2 years, to be precise). The songs and the production improved (again) to the
previous releases ("Hotter Than A Thousand Suns", "Drive").
The European hard rock of HIGH ROAD EASY remains diverse. On one hand there are the up-tempo rockers like the Rainbowish opening track "Faster Than The Speed Of Light" or the records final track "This Is The Life" that tells the unbelievable story of stewardess Violet Jessop.
Commercially "Higher Ground" and "Wings" are most appealing and more “radio rock” friendly. One can’t help to notice that HIGH ROAD EASY possess the rare gift to write great ballads without the usual cliché as in "Come What May".
"My Life" is more progressive and lets Swedish drummer Magnus Brandell shine.
You could tell he went to Berklee and studied with Mike Mangini. "Darkness And Joy" shows a more 70's rock side that really suits the band and seems to become a favorite of the fans. "Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea" not only is the first official lyric video release, but also a good showcase of the bands blend of rock sound past and present.
A lot of time was invested in harmony vocals and layered choirs, both provided by lead singer Jan Knopf and main song writer / producer / guitar & bass player Sven Horlemann.

Give it a spin and you notice this album grows on repeated listens. The album was released worldwide April 4th, 2015.

First Official Release for DEEP PURPLE's 'Long Beach 1971' Set Due

Over 70 minutes of music – remastered in 2014

Welcome to Long Beach 1971, the latest album in earMUSIC’s Deep Purple reissue series that, over the last two years, has seen the release of rare live material from the band, including “Paris 1975”, “Copenhagen 1972”, Stockholm 1970” and “Graz 1975”. Spanning over 70 minutes of music, “Long Beach 1971” has been remastered in 2014 and is going to be released on February 27th, 2015 on earMUSIC.

Recorded at Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California, on July 30, 1971, it was broadcast on radio (KUSC 91.5 FM), a showcase for a support performance to Rod Stewart and The Faces.

An official release for a concert that has long been considered a landmark for the band, the set featured tracks (“Speed King” and “Child In Time”) from their fourth studio album, June 1970’s “In Rock”. This was a transitional release for the Mk II version of the band -  guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, frontman Ian Gillan, bassist Roger Glover, organ/keyboard player Jon Lord and drummer Ian Paice –, being their first hard rock affair as well as their commercial breakthrough as the third leading über-rock band of the day along with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. Completing the set that day were a considerably extended version of “Mandrake Root” from their July 1968 debut album “Shades Of Deep Purple”, and “Strange Kind Of Woman”.

Opening with an 11-minute long “Speed King”, the show actually starts off like a climax, with a frenzy of organ and batter of guitar and drums, before segueing into a fast and furious riff and some classic caterwauls from Ian Gillan. Next up is “Strange Kind Of Woman”. The piledriving central motif is a classic combination of rhythm and riff, the band hitting a bluesy, even funky, groove. Following is an impressive version of the Deep Purple classic “Child in Time”: it is 20 minutes of heavy action from Blackmore.

If you’re not too exhausted by that, there is time for one more, and it’s a good - not to mention long - one: “Mandrake Root”, a 27-minute extrapolation of the debut album track and concert standby.

All in all, the frenzy, powerful show is leaving the audience staggered, and not a little dazed, as they head towards the exit, into the warm California night, wondering what the hell just happened.

Deep Purple live just happened.

Tracklist
1. Speed King
2. Strange Kind Of Woman
3. Child In Time
4. Mandrake Root
