STEVE GRIMMETT Reports In Live From Hospital

Categories:

Jimmy Kay from Canada's The Metal Voice streamed live into the hospital in Ecuador where Steve Grimmett (singer Grim Reaper) and wife Millie Grimmett  updated their fans on Steve's medical condition. Also joining the show Tony Dolan (Venom Inc) and former singer of Anthrax Neil Turbin

Two announcements were made during the show, the first a fundraising show in their hometown of Swindon, England  on April 1 organized  by Brian Keene at the Riff's Bar

The second announcnemt was well known Metal Artist coming together to re-record a Grim Reaper Song  to help raise funds towards Steve Grimmett. medical and recovery costs.  Spearheaded by Tony Dolan  aided by Neil Turbin (Ex Anthrax) and Sy Keeler (Onslaught). The contribution artists include Gary Holt (Slayer Exodus) Ripper Owens (ex Judas Priest), Doro Pesch, Lipps (Anvil), Neil Turbin (Deathriders), Sy Keeler (Onslaught), Bobby Blitz (Overkill), Nick Bowcott (Ex Grim Reaper), John Gallagher (Raven), Mantas (Venom) and more to be announced soon, the song will be produced by Chris Tsangarides (Judas Priest)

Millie Grimmett gave The Metal Voice a medical status update on Steve's present condition, "He has had four operations now, yesterday he had an operation to clean the wound a bit more, open it up a bit, put a drain in there to stop any further infections. So far the infection has stabilized. They have not stitched the wound up it's still open, they got a drain in there they are hoping it might help stop any infections. He can't fly until ten days after a big operation, so the earliest he can fly is this Friday. You got the high altitude because of the pressure of the plane, you have the risks of blood clotting, bleeding again, wounds opening so we have to make sure he can actually survive the flight because in total it is 19 hours door to door and we have to get two planes, it's a gruelling journey for everybody "

Mille went on, "I have a meeting with  the Doctor tomorrow morning to discuss how he is doing and recovery and there is another treatment they can use, using oxygen. So we are hoping they might be able to do that over the next few days. which could speed up the process of recovery. the donations have helped the both of us. Now I am here Steve has perked up a bit and it makes me feel a bot better to see him but we are still alone out here and we want to go home. "

Mille commented about the Hospital Staff,"They are very friendly, very nice, even though we both don't speak the same language, we still have a laugh, making Steve laugh making him smile, they do what they can with what they got, they don't have the same resources here. Steve said to me the other day that, last week he was in a ward downstairs and gentleman by him had heart failure and they didn't have a defibrillator so unfortunately the gentleman died, they did all they could, they have done a great job with Steve."

Lying on his hospital bed Steve Grimmett said a few words, I am very humbled I didn't realize that I meant so much to other people, I got no words other than THANK YOU and when I am out on my new leg I'm going to come out and sing for a big party."

Grimmett continued about finally being reunited with his wife. " it was such a relief to have somebody that I could talk to, cause she is not only my wife, she's my best friend, she's my sole mate, it makes everything easier. I found that in this metal community of ours we have love and respect for each other and to be fair I've never met any assholes."

“The future of rock and roll.” - Paul Anthony, Planet Rock radio

Frontiers Music Srl are pleased to announce the release of the second Inglorious album, “Inglorious II”, on May 12, 2017! The band have also announced their new guitar player, who you can meet in the video below!

September 2016 saw Inglorious base themselves in Liverpool to work on the follow up to their 2016 eponymous debut album. Produced by the band and mixed by the legendary Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith), this new album is set to further enhance the standing of this remarkable band. From the body blow riffs of “Read All About It,” to the beautiful melodies of upcoming first single “I Don’t Need Your Loving”, from the groove of “High Class Woman” to the classic feeling ballad “Making Me Pay”, this is an album that shows the bands influences stem from iconic rock and roll shrine of rock albums from the 1970s – many years before the band members were born – merged with a truly contemporary feel. Driving riffs and instant melodies all overlaid with the unique and powerful vocals of Nathan James.

Nathan James on “Inglorious II”: “It came together very organically after spending time touring together and felt great. We knew we were making an album this time too! We focused on getting our sounds just right so we could get into the studio and out in the least time possible. Between Adde's flat in Malmö, Sweden and Colin’s family home in Somerset, England, this album came together quickly. We spent three weekends in Somerset, writing in a kind of 9-5 fashion, whereby we knew we were at work. Then after a lovely home cooked dinner we would relax, have a few beers and balance out our hard work, the environment is so important to be creative and we had it good!”

Tracklisting:
1. I Don’t Need Your Loving
2. Taking The Blame
3. Tell Me Why
4. Read All About It
5. Change Is Coming
6. Making Me Pay

8. No Good For You
9. I Got A Feeling
10. Black Magic

The album will be released as a standard CD and also as a Deluxe 2CD/DVD edition. The DVD will feature a previously unavailable live performance from Download Festival 2016 plus extra bonus content, including videos for forthcoming singles “I Don’t Need Your Loving” and “Taking The Blame”.

2016 was a stunning year for UK five-piece Inglorious. Their eponymous debut album was released through Frontiers Music Srl in February. The album received widespread critical acclaim at press, multiple A lists at radio and a lauded performance on Vintage TV. The band toured across the world, with numerous high profile shows in the UK and Europe – including show stopping performances at Download Festival 2016 and Ramblin' Man Fair 2016, support slots for The Winery Dogs and The Dead Daisies, and culminating with a support slot for Steel Panther’s European Arena tour in October and a co-headline UK tour with label-mates Last In Line in November 2016.

Formed in February 2014, the band is fronted by Nathan James, who made a name for himself having sung for the multi-platinum selling Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Scorpions guitar legend Uli Jon Roth.  Nathan was looking for like-minded musicians that desired to make incredible rock music in a very honest fashion. The band’s lineup on “Inglorious II” was completed by rhythm guitarist Wil Taylor, lead guitarist Andreas Eriksson, bassist Colin Parkinson and drummer Phil Beaver.

The band have also announced the departure of album guitarist Wil Taylor right after the end of the new album's recording. They are delighted to announce that for 2017 and moving forward they are reuniting with original member Drew Lowe on guitar, who is joining the band as a permanent member. 2017 Melodic Album Preview

2017 is offering up a staggering number of new releases – from newcomers, to familiar names, to classic rock legends – there’s something for everyone as they say.

Here is a quick summary of some of those releases and some insights into the ones that I’ve been fortunate enough to hear.

Night Ranger – Don’t Let Up (March 24) Another well-produced hard rocking release with a couple of slower acoustic ballads, but very diverse – perhaps the most diverse NR album yet. The lead single is the most commercial and recognizable NR song, but also listen out for Running Out Of Time, Truth and Jamie.

Eclipse – Monumentum (March 24) There was never any doubt right? The lads have done it again and perhaps turned things up yet another notch as far as sonic bombardment and guitar shredding. Plus Philip Crusner on drums is fantastic. It’s heavy, its melodic, it’s brilliant! Look out for The Downfall Of Eden, Hurt and Killing Me. Extrordinary stuff and exactly what I was hoping to hear!

Brother Firetribe – Sundown (March 23) hang onto your hats boys and girlsd – here comes another multi-layered, guitar and keyboard soaked, big budget Scandi melodic rock album. Easily better than the great last album, and growing on me more every day, BFT fans can be assured they are getting a killer album here!

Pride Of Lions – Fearless (Feb 24) More or less, just another POL album. But that isn’t said with any complacency or hesitation. It’s another great set of songs from the pen of Jim Peterik and the voice of Toby Hitchcock. Diverse, pompous and theatrical as the couple of albums before it, more reliably memorable melodic rock.

Lionville – A World Of Fools (Feb 24) Always great to hear Lars singing and while we wait for a new Work Of Art album, this is more than enough quality AOR to fill the void. Expertly produced and featuring slick, pure AOR at it’s European best.

Tokyo Motor Fist (Feb 24) It’s a lot of fun. It’s quite varied and definitely reaches into Def Leppard territory during the second half, it really is a great mix of Ted Poley and Steve Brown’s talents. Production is pretty loose, but the energy and hooks are infectious.

Unruly Child – Can’t Go Home (Feb 24) Never a band to do things in the simple, structured way, this is another quality AOR album, more varied than the last album and still weighing in on the lighter side, but there’s a lot of musical intelligence in these songs and the performances.

One Desire (March 24) Pure Scandi-melodic bliss. Layers of everything (vocals, guitars and keys) and a monster production right out of 1985. These guys make the 80s sound like now with their contemporary production, yet classic AOR sound. Absolutely brilliant.

Black Star Riders – Heavy Fire (Feb 2) More Lizzy-like guitar driven 70s rock n roll and more quality music. Wasn’t as impressed with the last album, but this sounds up there with the debut.

Also coming up to watch out for:

Thunder, Dirty White Boyz, Black Country Communion, TNT, Steelheart, Treat (Live), Art Nation, Crazy Lixx, H.E.A.T, Degreed, Toby Hitchcock, Riverdogs, Harem Scarem, Mr. Big and Heaven & Earth!

And don’t forget the Arti Tisi archives from MelodicRock Records and new announcements due very shortly about 2 classic and unmistakably amazing albums that were never released back in the 80s!

Plus new albums from Faith Circus and a few other familiar MRR names.

In The Studio - THE KINKS

Dallas, TX January 24, 2017 -  North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands takes a stroll into the Seventies decade of The Kinks with lead singer, songwriter Ray Davies on the 40th anniversary of their remarkable comeback album Sleepwalker.

The Kinks were probably a lock for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction for their British Invasion Sixties output alone, but the first half of the Seventies were tough going for them until reclaiming their rock bona fides, starting with 1977’s Sleepwalker and much of what turned up on 1978’s Misfits

Historically lumped into the mid-Sixties British Invasion bands with The Beatles, Rolling Stones and The Who, London’s lovable Kinks nevertheless took a considerably different unintended path, particularly in America. At the era-defining iconic events from 1967 to 1977 Montereyy Pop Festival, Woodstock, Altamont, Isle of Wight Festivals, Watkins Glen, Day on the Green where were The Kinks?  Inexplicabbly, this band which had reeled off a string of Top Ten hits in both the UK and US with “You Really Got Me”, “All Day and All of the Night”, “Tired of Waiting for You”, “Sunny Afternoon”, “Victoria”, “Apeman” and the timeless “Lola”, all which had helped to define rock’n’roll on radio in the latter half of the Sixties, went MIA there on the entire first half of the Seventies.
But it certainly was not for lack of trying. The exquisite “Celluloid Heroes” appeared on The Kinks’ 1972 album Everybody’s in Showbiz, yet still had disappointing US sales. Ray Davies then wrote a series of musical shows, including 1973’s Preservation Act 1 (a double album, no less); Preservation Act 2  followed a year later; and Soap Opera bubbled up in 1975. Not a one broke into the US Top Fifty sales.

When the opportunity to record for veteran record man Clive Davis’ Arista label appeared in 1976, it came with a caveat: no concept albums. Songs including “Sleepwalker” and “Juke Box Music”, with Ray Davies giving the good-natured nod to critics who felt that his preceding five year output had been too precious for rock’n’roll, helped to put The Kinks back on powerful US rock radio in 1977, which in turn permitted them to headline major US arenas for the first time ever. The resultant momentum continued into what became the legendary band’s sixteenth album, Misfits, in Summer 1978.
Ray Davies shares with In The Studio host Redbeard the desire of The Kinks to avoid the pitfalls of gatekeepers in order to deliver their music.

“It’s all the other people you have to go through. I’m talking about media people, record companies, TV, Radio. They’re the people who are judgmental on this... I have always had this theory about playing live. It’s the one occasion that you can be one on one with your fans without going through all the business of relying on somebody to cut the records, someone to press the records, to do the artwork, then to play the record.”    -  Ray Davies
