Gus G signs with AFM Records / North American tour with Vinnie Moore to kick off on November 28.
Former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist and Firewind mastermind Gus G. has signed a worldwide deal with AFM Records; for his solo band GUS G
“I'm very excited & happy to confirm that I've signed a worldwide solo record deal with one of Europe's premier record labels, AFM Records! In my opinion, AFM is one of the few labels today that care for artist development, their team is really passionate about what they do and they have fresh and exciting ideas. We briefly worked together on Firewind's "Immortals" album for the North American territory and now I'm looking forward to the full scale collaboration on my next solo album”, Gus G. states.
A brand new studio album is in the making currently and will be released in April 2018.
But before, GUS G. will play a North American tour with Vinnie Moore, kicking off on November 28th in Derry, New Hampshire – presenting a surprising, brand new power trio line-up for the very first time: Gus will be joined by Dennis Ward on bass / vocals and Richie Monica on drums.
“Metal fans might know Dennis as the bass player from the bands Unisonic and Pink Cream 69”, says Gus. “What people might not know about him is that he's a multi-talented songwriter, producer AND singer. Since me and Dennis have been working on songs for Firewind's latest album release but also now on my upcoming solo record, I only felt it was natural to invite him to play this music with me on stage. So, obviously forming a power trio is a new setup and we're really looking forward to rocking the US crowds this Winter but also with my upcoming album tour cycle.”
AFM A&R Timo Hoffmann: “After releasing Firewind’s latest studio album “Immortals” in North America earlier this year, we are beyond excited that Gus decided to make AFM the new label home for his solo career as well. No words needed to praise the man’s qualities – Gus was a household name and highly acclaimed musician/songwriter long before he joined Ozzy’s band. Ever since its inception, he is the driving force behind Firewind and in addition has established a solo career, delivering outstanding up-to-date hard rock with finesse. Fans can look forward to a fantastic new GUS G. album which will see the light of day in April 2018.”

L.A. GUNS was formed in 1982 by guitar player Tracii Guns and, then unknown singer, Axl Rose on lead vocals.

The "classic lineup" of Guns, former Girl singer Phil Lewis, drummer Steve Riley, guitar player Mick Cripps and bassist Kelly Nickels have sold 6.5 million records, including 1988's L.A. Guns and 1990's Cocked and Loaded, both of which were certified Gold. Cocked and Loaded contained the hit single "Ballad of Jayne" that went to #33 on Billboard's Hot 100 and #25 on the Mainstream Rock charts.

After a nearly 15-year break, Philip Lewis and Tracii Guns are back together for another chapter in their partnership that began in 1986, 4 years after Tracii formed L.A. GUNS in 1982.

Their writing partnership spawned classic L.A. GUNS songs such as “Sex Action”, “Never Enough”, “Electric Gypsy”, “The Ballad Of Jayne”, and countless more in an impressive catalog of fan favorites. The last time Lewis and Guns joined forces was back in 2000 with legendary producer Andy Johns for the making of what would become “Waking The Dead” – an album that went on to receive tremendous critical acclaim and proved that their musical partnership was every bit as strong as the early days with all-killer-no-filler songs including “Don’t Look At Me That Way”, “Hellraisers Ball”, and “The Ballad”.

Following their successful performance at SiriusXM's HairNation Festival in May of 2016, L.A. GUNS went into the studio to record their latest album, The Missing Peace, which is was just released in October of 2017.

The current lineup features founding member Tracii Guns, who has reunited with lead singer, Phil Lewis, along with Shane Fitzgibbon on drums, guitar player Michael Grant and bassist Johnny Martin.

Australia & New Zealand, finally get to experience The Missing Peace!…

JOHN OATES Heads To 'Arkansas' For New Solo Album

Artist:
Friday, February 2, 2018
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member John Oates has teamed with an amazing group of accomplished and rising stars in the Americana music world to bring his new album, Arkansas, to life. Scheduled for release on February 2, the project is his first for Thirty Tigers.  Arkansas is available for advance order through e-retailers and a Pledge Music campaign including autographed vinyl, limited edition exclusives, hats, shirts, and more.
The project originally began as a tribute to Oates' idol, Mississippi John Hurt. During a series of Nashville recording sessions, it evolved organically to become a unique collection drawing from a wide range of Oates' musical influences. Asked about the style and sound of Arkansas, John says, "It's like Dixieland, dipped in bluegrass, and salted with Delta blues."

The album was recorded at Addiction Studios in Nashville and produced by Oates and David Kalmusky who also engineered and mixed it. The sonic glue that cements the project is "The Good Road Band". The impressive lineup consists of Sam Bush on mandolin, Russ Pahl on pedal steel, Guthrie Trapp on electric guitar, Steve Mackey on bass, Nathaniel Smith on cello, and Josh Day on drums and percussion.
With this incredible band, Oates shines a light on music from America's past long before the birth of rock 'n' roll. Fresh interpretations include the Emmett Miller classic "Anytime" from 1924 as well as the Jimmie Rodgers tune, "Miss the Mississippi and You," from 1932. Reimagined traditional Delta, country blues and ragtime selections salute legendary artists like Mississippi John Hurt and Blind Blake.
Two new original songs by Oates blend seamlessly with the traditional roots material, as well as John's deep catalog of Daryl Hall and John Oates hits. Taken together, Oates' music becomes a retrospective of American popular song.

Review copies of the album are available upon request. Arkansas will be available in digital, CD and 180 gram vinyl.  Oates is available for interviews.

ABOUT JOHN OATES
John Oates is one half of the best-selling duo of all time, Daryl Hall & John Oates, as well as an accomplished solo artist. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Oates embarked on a long-awaited solo career in 1999. He has recorded six solo albums and the 2015 DVD docu-concert Another Good Road. His seventh project, Arkansas, will be released by Thirty Tigers in February..
Influenced by R&B and folk music while growing up near Philadelphia, Oates was honored as a BMI Icon in 2008. In 2016, Daryl Hall & John Oates received a star on the Hollywood of Fame. In addition to his solo shows, Oates continues to tour with Daryl Hall, playing sold-out concerts around the world. St. Martin's Press released the hardcover of Oates' memoir, Change of Seasons, in March 2017; the paperback will be released in 2018. Oates resides in Nashville.

MASS New Album Studio Diary - Exclusive - Part 2

As U.S. rockers MASS begin work on their long awaited new studio album, frontman Louis St. August will be providing exclusive updates - text and audiio - from the process. Here's entry number 2!

November 16th, 2017

So, we finally have all the drum and bass tracks down for the remaining 10 tracks. This brings the forthcoming MASS album song total to 11. Nine of which were written in the 2016-17 period and the other two are older revised tunes that we felt would be a great fit and deserve to see the light of day. The album will be called "When 2 Worlds Collide."

Joey kicked off his drum session with possibly the album opener "Just Can't Deny," an up tempo rocker that just oozes with that great 80s feel. He did a tremendous job on tracking his drum parts with killer rocking beats & drum fills while keeping the tempo locked down. Joey finished up on Sunday afternoon with the killer track "Alive."

Michael's bass playing is astonishing as ever as he adds his power and aggressiveness along with his magical melodic feel to the new album. Gene will now start his rhythm and lead tracks the week of November 13th to the 17th. I will submit another blog when guitar tracks are complete and vocal tracks have begun and list the rest of the song titles.

On another note: Recently I received a message from a fan that reminded me of several others the band has received over the years, simply just thanking us for staying true to our roots and not being persuaded by label reps (past & future) or to be influenced by current music trends. So while I was sitting back and listening to all the playbacks, I believe we have stayed true and will be releasing another one from the heart.

URIAH HEEP Still 'Living The Dream' in 2018

Artist:
Release Year:
2018

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce that Uriah Heep are set to commence the recording of their brand new studio album (the 25th in their storied career), which will be titled, appropriately enough, 'Living The Dream."

"We have been together for 47 years and we have seen many bands come and go, so in effect we are 'Still Living The Dream,' so it was the perfect title for the new album,' says Uriah Heep guitarist and founding member Mick Box.

Jay Ruston has been called in to produce the album. Mick continues, 'We chose Jay because we admire his work with The Winery Dogs, Stone Sour, Black Star Riders, Paul Gilbert, and Europe. Jay has either produced, mixed or both for these bands, and he will bring a fresh approach to Heep, which we are very much looking forward to."

The plan is release the album through Frontiers in fall 2018 (release window subject to change). The band is beyond excited with the material written for the new album, which will include some epic additions to the band's huge catalog of rock staples and looks forward to sharing it with their fans around the world.

In the meantime, the band has announced four Canadian tour dates, with more shows in the works. "The mighty Heep are proudly able to tour in over 61 countries and we look forward to a packed touring schedule in 2018. Touring is in our blood and what we have a passion to do, and so 2018 is no exception,' concludes Box.

Uriah Heep debuted in 1970 with the release of one of hard rock's milestones, 'Very 'eavy... Very 'umble' and have since sold in excess of 30 millions albums worldwide. They constantly tour the world, playing up to 125 shows a year to 500,000+ fans. The band's live set features the classic tracks from the '70s and is a musical journey from the band's beginnings to the present day.

A full tour in support of the new release will be announced in the coming months.
