The Dark Element featuring Anette Olzon & Jani Liimatainen Announce Second Album "Songs The Night Sings" Out November 8th via Frontiers Music Srl! Video For Title Track Out Now!

THE DARK ELEMENT is a musical project featuring vocalist Anette Olzon (ex-Nightwish) and Finnish guitarist and songwriter Jani Liimatainen (Insomnium, Cain's Offering). November 8th will see the release of their second album, entitled "Songs The Night Sings". Today, the band presents a video for the album's title track, which you can see below.

“Songs The Night Sings” takes off where the self-titled debut left off, with immaculate vocals from Anette and fabulous anthems written by Jani.

"It’s a thrill that we’re releasing yet another album and for me it’s been even easier to record this one since me and Jani now know each other really well. For me, this album is bigger and better and I believe the ones who liked the first one will really like this one too. All I can say is that I already long to do another album. Hep hep!" says Anette.

Jani adds, "I think the album is very heavy, but still hyper melodic, and this time we are even exploring new musical territories we didn't on the previous album. Now that me and Anette have one album together under our belts, we have found the style we want to pursue and also the ideal way of working together. Given all this, I think it's safe to say that with this album you'll get even more of what made the first album so good, only it's gonna be bigger, better and bolder!"

THE DARK ELEMENT made their live debut in June 2018 at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg, Sweden. They also completed a short Japanese tour and performed at the Frontiers Rock Sweden festival in October at Fryshuset Klubben in Stockholm. More tour dates are planned for this upcoming album, so expect to see the band on stage again soon.

Since word of this project initially got out, fans were frothing at the mouth with anticipation for its arrival. And no wonder considering the talent involved! Anette is widely known for being the fabulous voice on the hit albums from Nightwish, “Dark Passion Play” and “Imaginareum”. Jani has recently been busy in Insomnium as well as Cain's Offering alongside Stratovarius singer Timo Kotipelto, but left a deep mark on the minds of all Power Metal fans thanks to his time in Sonata Arctica.

The resulting debut album released in November 2017 took no time to prove that the resume of the individuals involved did indeed add up to the musical output.

MOTLEY CRUE's 'Dr Feelgood Hits 30

The world’s most notorious rock band, Mötley Crüe, is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their landmark album Dr. Feelgood

With charting hit singles including “Dr. Feelgood,” “Kickstart My Heart,” “Without You,” “Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)” and “Same Ol’ Situation (S.O.S.),” Dr. Feelgood has been the band’s biggest album to date. The record has sold more than six million copies in the U.S. alone going 6x platinum, is certified 3x platinum in Canada, Gold in the UK and in Switzerland and spent 109 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, peaking at #1.

The band also earned Grammy nominations for “Dr. Feelgood” (1990) and “Kickstart My Heart”(1991) in the Best Rock Performance category and won Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal album for the record at the American Music Awards (1991).

In addition to being the biggest album of the band’s career, Dr. Feelgood has had a tremendous effect on pop culture. Inspired by Nikki Sixx’ near-death overdose, the autobiographical “Kickstart My Heart” dives into the band’s sobriety. Over the last 30 years, Sixx has used his platform to be a part of the drug awareness and recovery conversation, an issue which continues to be relevant today more than ever.

Says Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx: “After feeling robbed of a #1 album with Girls Girls Girls, the band was hell bent on topping ourselves on every level. Bringing in Bob Rock to produce and push us musically and lyrically was just what the doctor ordered...The band was clean, lean and sober and this album has some of our proudest work.”

Mötley Crüe has not only influenced musical trends, but have also played a key role in the fashion culture of the 80’s. Their iconic imagery continues to be a staple with rock apparel and fashion brands. In honor of its 30th anniversary, and in response to the frequent call from fans for more classic Mötley Crüe, an anniversary line of Dr. Feelgood apparel featuring the album’s iconic artwork will be available. Furthermore, a 30th Anniversary edition is being released featuring new CD and vinyl packaging as well as a deluxe edition including colored vinyl, three 7” picture discs, Dr. bag, deck of cards, prescription notepad and drumstick pens, pins, guitar picks, band aids, and more.

For all offerings, please visit www.motley.com

The big Dr. Feelgood anniversary comes on the heels of the band’s hugely successful Netflix biopic “The Dirt” which tells the cautionary tale of the world’s most notorious rock band. The biopic they thought would never get made is confounding all of the critics, as Mötley Crüe finds a new audience, who have given “The Dirt” a 95% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. “It's great seeing another new generation discovering this classic album since our hit movie “The Dirt” on Netflix...” adds Sixx. The film is based on the band’s 2001 biography by the same name. After the movie launched earlier this year the book re-entered the New York Times Top 10 bestseller lists 18 years after its original release.

Viewers of the movie took to Shazam, Apple Music, and Spotify to discover/re-discover Mötley Crüe’s catalog. The momentum of the film caused rapid growth with Google Searches increasing by 4300% and sales going up by 2000%, with albums including The Dirt Soundtrack, Dr. Feelgood, Too Fast For Love, and Greatest Hits charting on iTunes since the release of the film.

Fans can also listen to The Dirt as an audiobook now for the first time. Like the movie, the book/audiobook gives fans glimpses into the band’s crazy world of backstage scandals, celebrity love affairs, roller-coaster drug addictions, and immortal music. The autobiography of Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, and Mick Mars features the full spectrum of sin and success, as well as a cautionary tale about the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle.

From GABRIEL:

Today I have to announce that I and the boys in Wildness have decided to go separate ways.
It’s sad that it had to end like this, but apparently we want different things and have lost the team spirit and understanding of each other along the way.

Still, I wish the boys all luck in life and that the band keeps going.

Most of all i would like to thank all of you guys who’ve supported me all those years. You all have been amazing to me and I hope to see you on the road soon again!

To be continued...

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

It’s time for change.

After lengthy consideration, I have decided to revamp the MelodicRock website once again, to better serve readers and to also better serve myself.

Things have changed so quickly over the past few years. Today so many rely solely on their Facebook feeds, with almost all industry wide advertising income being spent on that platform.

Adding to that has been my increased focus on MelodicRock Records, which has taken away the time I had to do the things I enjoyed most – CD Reviews and breaking news.

These days there is rarely a chance to break news. Back when I started this website, the internet was like the wild west. Today information is so tightly controlled, and band/management paranoia is beyond comparison to the past.

But there are still Reviews - the most requested content from everyone. And with more releases than ever before, the need for straight, honest and impartial reviews is critical.

So the time has come to rethink how the site works, how it is financed and how I can best add original content such as reviews, in a more timely fashion.

I will announce revamp details in the coming week or two.

The two things I love most in this business is developing and introducing new artists and new projects via MRR and writing (reviews and more).

To best facilitate both these aspects I have decided the revamp the website as I’ve just announced.

Plus: I have sold the MelodicRockFest name entirely. I no longer have any desire to organise and execute festival events but have found the perfect team that does. They have decades of industry experience between them and I will remain a go-between for organizers and artists and act as a consultant to ensure future shows follow the blueprint of past MRF events. We start with MRFAU2 in Melbourne, March 2020.

In addition, I have decided to bring the new Australian owners of MRF in to partner in MelodicRock Records. I will announce details soon, but you may have noticed the void in announcements for upcoming releases. It was necessary to clear the decks to create a new start point for the label.

My role with the new company will be Head of A&R – assigned to work on signing new artists and developing new titles – the two things I love the most. Manufacturing, shipping, invoicing, ordering and distribution and will be handled by the new partners. There are already some great plans for the label and projects coming together.

So stay tuned…. changes are coming on all fronts!
