BRIAN HOWE – RIP

Died from a heart attack yesterday at home.

This one hurts. Brian was an outspoken and sometimes controversial character, but a good heart with a great fondness for dogs and promoting dog adoption homes, which in my book is a truly great thing.

He was also one hell of a singer. And I don't give a flying fukarri if you want to argue the fact, but the Bad Company albums Brian was a part of were the BEST Bad Company albums. Dangerous Age, Holy Water and Here Comes Trouble were Terry Thomas produced perfection!

Brian's own solo release Circus Bar and the Emotions EP are also absolutely essential for all fans of this genre.

I saw Brian live a few years ago - all the power and swagger of a man half his age. His death at just 66, after past heart problems, is both tragic and untimely.

RIP Brian, you will be missed.

Robert Hart is a British Rock Vocalist and songwriter. His career has seen him play with the likes of The Distance, Company of Snakes and Bad Company, as well as the Jones gang and more recently Manfred Mann’s Earth Band. His recording styles have varied and he can range from Pop to West Coast to Blues Rock to Hard Rock, such is his ability.

In 1989 Robert recorded a solo album “Cries and Whispers” which can be described as prime time AOR and has been a highly sought after recording ever since. The album was originally released on Atlantic Records with Stewart Levine at the production desk.

Three years later Robert was the first recording artist to be signed by Hollywood Records which was owned by Disney and had the pleasure of working with the great Russ Ballard. The resulting album “Robert Hart” charted in more than 18 countries and it was a great AOR Rock Album that got him noticed By Bad Company’s Mick Ralphs who then asked him to front Bad Company following the departures of Paul Rodgers and Brian Howe. In 1995 Robert Co-wrote the album “Company of Strangers” and he has since become a household name in Rock Circles.

The two solo albums “Robert Hart” & “Cries and Whispers” were re-released together in digipack form by Escape Music in 2013 and this package reminded fans just how good Robert is. Robert also worked with Jim Kirkpatrick (FM guitarist) on the DIESEL album “into the fire” in the same year and this has further cemented Roberts reputation as a top notch vocalist.

Fast forward to 2020 and Robert is back with a brand new album called “Pure” and this is something else as Robert has given us 12 fresh sounding songs that have a unique pop rock sound. Names like Robert Plant and Go West come to mind, these are really catchy songs and are instantly remembered after just one listen.

Robert Hart will be touring Rock Meets Classic with Alice Cooper, Thunder and Mother Finest March 2020!

One to watch out for in 2020!.

BAD COMPANY Shoot Straight On 40th Anniversary Straight Shooter

Artist:
Friday, April 10, 2015

Dallas, TX - April 8, 2015.  North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind Historys Greatest Rock Bands celebrates the 40th anniversary of Bad Company's sophomore smash Straight Shooter .

The year 1974 must have seemed quite a whirlwind for Brit blues-rockers Bad Company.  As former members of Free, singer/songwriter Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke, along with ex- Mott the Hoople guitarist/ songwriter Mick Ralphs and bass player Boz Burrell (who had a stint with King Crimson), had all tasted success in the UK early in their respective careers, tagging them with the blessing/curse of supergroup upon the formation of Bad Company.

Bad Company had elbowed their way to the forefront of the rock world by the April 1975 release of their second album Straight Shooter, delivering the timeless hits Good Lovin Gone Bad, Feel Like Makin Love and Shooting Star and avoiding a sophomore jinx.

In an interview with InTheStudio host Redbeard, Ralphs, Kirke, and Paul Rodgers recall how the Grammy- nominated Feel Like Makin Love single, originally composed during Pauls time in Free but never finished, ended up on Bad Companys Straight Shooter album.

We had come off a very heavy tour...We needed material, come to think of it... so I started to play it and I said to Ralphsy, It needs a chorus, something to come in heavy here.  So he says, How about this? (hums guitar part of chorus). Weird isnt it?  It came together like almost by accident. It might still have been floating around in my head today if we hadnt like needed a song desperately, you know.  - Paul Rodgers

Bad Company (1974) and Straight Shooter (1975) have been remastered using the original tapes to create new Deluxe Editions. The two-CD versions include all of the newly discovered bonus tracks, while their 180-gram vinyl counterparts offer as much bonus material as they can fit on a second vinyl record.

The eponymous debut album in deluxe form features the single edit of Can’t Get Enough, b-sides Little Miss Fortune and Easy On My Soul as well as eight previously unreleased recordings such as the demo for The Way I Choose, and an unedited version of Superstar Woman.
Follow up, Straight Shooter (1975) goes even further with 13 previously unreleased tracks and and the b-side Whiskey Bottle. The bonus material here includes a stripped-down version of Shooting Star, and two tracks never released; See The Sunlight and All Night Long.
