DAN REED NETWORK RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘ORIGINS’ ON FRIDAY 23RD NOVEMBER

Dan Reed Network are ecstatic to follow up their UK November Tour announcement with details of their brand new studio album Origins, released on Friday November 23 via Dan Reed’s own ‘Zero One Entertainment’ Label.

Origins follows DRN’s hugely successful comeback album Fight Another Day (2016). Physical pre-orders for Origins are available from Friday 10th August directly from the Dan Reed Network website.  All orders will receive a digital version of the first single Fade To Light as a free download.

To celebrate the announcement of their new album DRN are also extremely proud to share the first single Fade To Light with a music video they feel encapsulates the whole experience of recording Origins.

“The video for Fade To Light is taken from the inaugural live studio recording session at Blueprint Studios in Manchester and is the perfect microcosm for this entire process. What I think really translates throughout is how having an audience in the room fed the band with a unique energy that pushed us to expand our creative horizons. We’re thrilled with the results,” explains Dan Reed.

While recording the album DRN opened the studio doors to the public and invited them in to be a part of an exclusive series of recording sessions that spanned the globe with tracks that would eventually become Origins recorded at Blueprint Studio’s in Manchester, The Power Station in NYC, Nia Studios in Portland Oregon and finally Studio 4 in Stockholm.

The concept allowed supporters of the band to intimately witness the whole process of recording a brand new song from scratch with the band individually tracking drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and vocals before inviting the audience to participate and provide backing vocals for the song as can be seen in the brand new video for Fade To Light. The audience were also witness to a classic Dan Reed Network being re-imagined right before their eyes.

Dan Reed Network 'Origins 2018 UK Tour'

Dan Reed Network will showcase new material from the upcoming album whilst revisiting the hits and reworking some DRN classics in what promises to be a raucous celebration of their inaugural, global, fan immersive recording project “Origins.”
“We wanted to explore the opportunity to make our own decisions and taking ownership of our material, our trajectory and ultimately our love of creating music and entertaining those who support it,” says Dan Reed. “The November UK tour will be an embodiment of that.”

The “Origins” tour is by direct result of Dan Reed Network recording eight songs across three continents in front of 500 fans over the space of six months.
“Our live studio recording days have been a highlight moment in our career,” explains Reed. “Being able to showcase these new songs in a live environment will be a fantastic opportunity to thank and celebrate with those who made them a reality.”

The tour will be DRN’s first UK jaunt since gaining rave reviews when they supported Extreme on their critically acclaimed December 2017 UK tour.
Says Reed; “The love we were shown on that tour, by not just Extreme and their management, but by those who were queuing outside the venue before the concerts, and the reception they gave us during our set, was a fantastic reminder of what we can accomplish.”

Joining the Dan Reed Network on tour in November are two of the best up and coming British rock bands, Mason Hill and Hollowstar.
“There’s a whole new wave of energetic rock bands in the UK who are ready to explode,” reflects Reed. “DRN are thoroughly looking forward to sharing the stage with these talented young bands and hopefully we can help be a small part of their rise to the top!”

DAN REED NETWORK 'FIGHT ANOTHER DAY' - MARCH 2017 UK TOUR

Dan Reed Network are pleased to announce a nationwide 11-date UK Tour in March 2017 to promote their recent studio album 'Fight Another Day'.
Tickets are now on sale via - http://danreed-network.com/tour/.  Special guests on all dates (except Sheffield) is VEGA.

DRN is thrilled to be returning to Europe this next March, says Reed.  'Dan Pred, Brion James, Melvin Brannon II, Rob Daiker and I are really looking forward to playing many new and unique venues throughout the UK, and rockin' up the funk hard core and meeting all those who are able to attend and bring down the house with us. We thank you for the many years of support and especially believing that we had new music in us to offer! We are forever grateful for you all being there with us on this journey!'

Frontiers Music Srl released Dan Reed Network's latest studio album 'Fight Another Day' on Friday June 3rd, 2016. The album marked a significant and anticipated return of one of the most infectious and gifted bands to come out in the melodic rock world in the second part of the 1980's.

Originally formed in Portland, Oregon, Dan Reed Network packed out local clubs from late 1984 through 1986 with their compelling mix of musical styles ranging from hard rock, funk and soul.  In 1987, the first single, 'Ritual', peaked at number 38 on the Billboard Charts and became a staple of the funk rock.

While attending the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum induction ceremony in NYC in January 1989, Dan Reed met up with producer Nile Rodgers (Duran Duran, Madonna, David Bowie) which led to the creation of the second album 'Slam'.  Produced by Rodgers, it better represented the Dan Reed Network's live sound and accelerated the band's growing status in Europe. Dan Reed Network opened the European leg of Bon Jovi's 'New Jersey Tour' in 1989 and The Rolling Stones' European Urban Jungle Tour in 1990.

DRN's  third album 'The Heat', produced by Bruce Fairbairn in 1991, was their biggest success in the UK, mostly due to the single 'Lover' which was accompanied by a live video from Wembley Stadium filmed when they opened for the Stones.

Reviews

Can’t say I was ever a Dan Reed Network fan – his funk/rock style was something that I just didn’t embrace back in the day. However, I have admired a couple of Dan’s latter day solo albums. Some intelligent songwriting and out of the box musical arrangements there.
I had no expectations going into this, and what it delivers is a bit of both Dan Reed’s worlds.

Given the crossover in styles, it does appear a little disjointed and a little hit and miss. The hit resonates with me in a big way. The misses make the album drag, especially through the latter stages.

What hits – the brilliant melodies and subtle arrangements of the opening track Divided and the mature melodies of The Brave; the beautiful atmospheric ballad Champion and the equally pleasant keyboard styled B There With U.
The softer pop/rock of Heaven also connects as does the moody Stand Tall.

Misses include the funky ballad Infected; Give It Love; the funk/reggae swagger of Save The World which goes nowhere and the programmed beats of Reunite.
There’s a few others too, making this album about half cool, half not so.

An interesting album in parts, but perhaps not what the Dan Reed Network moniker might suggest. For that reason I think it aims to please all, without hitting the mark. Or perhaps it’s just exactly how Dan feels and writes in 2016. Up to individual fans to decide on this one.
But those few tracks in the first half of the album are seriously good.

DAN REED NETWORK Ready to 'Fight Another Day'

Friday, June 3, 2016

News Feed

Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release date of DAN REED NETWORK’s hotly anticipated new album, “Fight Another Day” on June 3rd.

“Fight Another Day” marks the return of one of the most infectious and gifted bands to come out in the Melodic Rock World in the second part of the 80’s. The new album was recorded primarily in the home town of members of DRN, Portland, Oregon, while most of the writing process took place in Dan Reed's private studio in Prague in the Czech Republic, where Reed currently resides with his family. Demos were sent back and forth between Derek Shulman (A&R for Frontiers), Brion JamesMelvin Brannon Jr. and Rob Daiker, making notes and refining the songs over great distances via the internet. This process was not unlike with DRN composed songs back in the late 80's and early 90's as Dan Reed used to demo out songs on his Akai 12 track machine and bring the songs into rehearsals where the band members would then arrange and flesh out the band’s classic 'funk rock' sound.

After the tracking was completed, band’s keyboardist Rob Daiker went to work editing and mixing each track alongside Shulman and Reed, sending mixes back and forth, making notes and shaping and moulding the album to best represent what DRN sounds like currently, while paying respect to what brought the band to the world's attention back in the late 80's.

I thought it would be a great experiment and interesting challenge to revisit what endeared the band to so many back in the day and deliver a rock record with funk and soul elements, strong melodies, but this time around incorporate even edgier lyrics while not losing sight that this release needed to be uplifting, infectious, and most of all, powerful when performed live,” says Dan Reed. “The title 'Fight Another Day' represents the fact that after 25 years we were able to gravitate back to the passion we discovered playing together all those years ago, and battle once more!“

The band looks forward to the world's response to this new labor of love, and this testament to the bonds of friendship and musical chemistry! Worlwide touring over the next twelve months will support the album release.

DAN REED NETWORK Sign To Frontiers For New Album

Release Year:
2016

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to welcome Dan Reed Network to its roster of artists.

The band has recently reunited for a string of shows in the UK and Europe and will release the their highly anticipated, brand new album, FIGHT ANOTHER DAY in early summer 2016.

Formed originally in Portland, Oregon, the band began packing out local clubs from late 1984 through 1986 with their infectious mixture of hard rock, funk and soul. After releasing their EP 'Breathless' and having a top ten single on local radio, 'Steal Me', DRN signed to Polygram/Mercury Records. In the winter of 1987, the group released their self-titled debut album which was produced by Bruce Fairbairn (Bon Jovi, Aerosmith) and engineered/mixed by Mike Fraser in Vancouver, Canada. The first single, 'Ritual' peaked at number 38 on the US Billboard Charts and became a staple of what became known as the 'Funk Rock' genre.

The debut album received a wealth of positive reviews, not the least of which was a four-star write-up from the notoriously hard-to-please Rolling Stone Magazine. DRN went over to Europe to support the album and had legendary performances at the Marquee Club in London and the The Melody Club in Stockholm, which are still talked about to this day. While attending the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame + Museum induction ceremony in January 1989 in New York, Dan Reed met up with producer Nile Rodgers (Duran Duran, Madonna, David Bowie) which led to the creation of the second album 'Slam'. Produced by Rodgers, it better represented the Dan Reed Network's live sound and accelerated the band's growing status in Europe. Dan Reed Network opened the European leg of Bon Jovi's 'New Jersey Tour' in 1989 and The Rolling Stones' European 'Urban Jungle Tour' in 1990.

The Dan Reed Network's third album 'The Heat', produced by Bruce Fairbairn in 1991, was their biggest success in the UK, mostly due to the single 'Lover' which was accompanied by a live video from Wembley Stadium filmed when they opened for the Stones. Despite some success and disillusioned with the record business and all it's trappings, the band eventually disbanded, much to the dismay of their supporters around the globe.

Fast forward to the 21st century and Dan Reed Network played their 25th anniversary reunion show on New Years Eve 2012 in their home town of Portland, Oregon, with all the original band members: Dan Reed, Dan Pred, Brion James, Melvin Brannon II and Blake Sakamoto. The members found it was incredibly fun being back together and consequently DRN decided it was a good time to bring the band and the music back to Europe and performed three sold out shows in Stockholm at Debaser, outside of London at the Enchanted Festival and at the Diamond Rock Club in Northern Ireland in 2013. DRN was then invited to play at England's Download Festival 2014 and then toured the UK again and Sweden in late 2015. The new album will be released right before the summer concert season which will see DRM appear, among others, at the prestigious Sweden Rock Festival in early June 2016.

Dan Reed says: 'It's been 25 years since our last studio album 'The Heat' was released, and to be honest, I never envisioned making another DRN album despite countless people throughout the world encouraging us to do so. But with a mixture of fate and a collective of trusted friends and supporters in the business coming to the table, I am excited to say we are poised to release a brand new record entitled 'Fight Another Day' in 2016 on Frontiers, home of many artists that we in fact admired back when we were first hitting the scene and before. Finally the stars aligned perfectly to have it all come together and make this album, and to have Derek Shulman, who originally singed DRN to Polygram in 1987, once again being in our lives as our co-manager and A&R man, brings us full circle. As for the sound and approach of the album the band and I thought it would be a great experiment and interesting challenge to revisit what endeared the band to so many back in the day and deliver a rock record with funk and soul elements, strong melodies, but this time around incorporate even edgier lyrics while not losing sight that this release needed to be uplifting, infectious, and most of all, powerful when performed live. The title 'Fight Another Day' represents the fact that after 25 years we were able to gravitate back to the passion we discovered playing together all those years ago, and battle once more!'

Frontiers' President Serafino Perugino states: 'Dan Reed Network have been one of the 'unsung heroes' of their age. Some of their records, particularly 'Slam' include some of the finest melodic rock ever. I salute and welcome them to the label and I am genuinely excited to release their new music to the world.'

Both band and label are now looking forward to the world's response to this new labor of love, and this testament to the bonds of friendship and musical chemistry!

AOR Heaven Release New DAN REED Album 'Transmission' March 27

Artist:
Friday, March 27, 2015
Categories:
News Feed

AOR Heaven’s second March release by DAN REED, 'Transmission' is the new solo album by the singer from the band DAN REED NETWORK and will be released in Europe (excluding the UK) on March 27.

Dan Reed, formerly of 'Dan Reed Network', (DRN) will soon be releasing his third solo album entitled ‘Transmission’. This collection of songs was composed and recorded in Prague and takes on a more live feel and energy than his previous two studio releases ‘Signal Fire’ and ‘Coming Up for Air’. Reed has always had a passion for groups like ‘Bad Company’, ‘Pink Floyd’, and ‘Fleetwood Mac’ and ‘Transmission’ takes it’s aim at realising this type of in your face, honest rock production. Besides tackling all the vocals, Dan performed all the guitar and keyboard work, performing live in the studio beside famed drummer Robert Ikiz from Turkey and bassist Bengan Jonasson from Sweden.

This collection of songs primarily takes a look at the dark side of the human condition and tries to make sense of trying to find light in the midst of the chaos. This will be Dan’s second album financed through Pledge Music through those who support his music and reached 100 percent of it's goal in less than 2 weeks from launching the campaign.
Reed’s second solo CD, 'Signal Fire’ released in early 2013, was a collection of thought provoking tracks, co-produced by Reed and Rob Daiker (Meredith Brooks/Katy Perry/Fame Riot). Signal Fire represented a step toward a more edgier sound than his 2010 solo effort 'Coming Up for Air', yet still held on to the intention of finding hope in a world riddled with great hypocrisy and great hope.
While 'Coming Up for Air' was composed in Jerusalem and Northern India during 2007/2008 and represented Reed's quest for insight on religious conflicts and making peace with inner demons, 'Signal Fire' took a more pointed look at the world's political/social/environmental conflicts. With ‘Transmission’ Dan decided to leave political statements somewhat behind and focus more on the conflict within the human heart and soul.
Dan also released a solo acoustic album entitled ‘In Between the Noise’ in 2014, as well as a DRN compilation 2 disc set called ‘Anthology’ which covered both previously released DRN songs, along with 4 new live tracks from the Network’s recent reunion shows and unreleased B-Sides. 'Anthology was also funded through Pledge Music and their fans.

Dan Reed Network was signed to Polygram in 1988 by Derek Shulman, famed A+R man who signed ‘Bon Jovi’. Managed by Bill Graham and Q-Prime later, DRN played opening act on European tours for Bon Jovi, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Midnight Oil, and performed in America with Run DMC and toured with UB40. Selling nearly 2 million albums worldwide, DRN was part of the funk rock movement and released three albums with Polygram between 1989 and 1992. ‘Transmission’ stands as a good example of where Dan can take the groove in these times, both musically and lyrically.

Reed took a long hiatus from the music business in early 2003 and spent 4 years in Northern India and Jerusalem, living in a Tibetan Monastery and studying religions while in the Middle East. Coming back to music in 2009 he now performs extensively throughout Europe and the United States, both with his solo band and DRN and has in recent years performed at the ‘Sweden Rock Festival’ and England’s ‘Download Festival’ twice.
With ‘Transmission’ Dan hopes that getting back to the roots of live performance is a positive direction in a world addicted to canned music, drum machines and auto-tuned vocals.
"I just felt it was time to get back to something that feels real, organic, and in tune with the human condition."  Reed
