Quiet Riot - "Don't Call It Love" (Official Audio)

QUIET RIOT continues their historic journey with drummer Frankie Banali, who is joined by bassist Chuck Wright and guitarist Alex Grossi. With their last release “Road Rage”, Quiet Riot introduced fans to powerhouse vocalist James Durbin. With “Hollywood Cowboys”, James has done a phenomenal job with his vocals on this release.

When asked how “Hollywood Cowboys” differs from other QUIET RIOT releases, Banali says "This is the most diverse QUIET RIOT release. The songs run the gamut from straight ahead balls to the wall rock tracks, to a blues song, to double bass drum pedal to the metal songs and QUIET RIOT straight ahead rock tracks. There is a whole lotta grooves going on!"

Musically, the new album offers exactly what you would expect from QUIET RIOT. Arena ready hard rock with strong hooks and infectious riffs, along with a maturity in the songwriting that only a band with such a history and pedigree can offer.

On lead track, "Don't Call It Love", drummer Frankie Banali says, "The song essentially started with a straight ahead drum groove that incorporates tempo lifts within the arrangement. It made it possible for Neil my songwriting partner and I to write and build a very concise track as a vehicle for what would follow lyrically. My dear friend and amazing songwriter Jacob Bunton wrote the lyrics for this track and several others as well as providing background vocals and just did a fantastic job."

Tracklist:
1. Don’t Call It Love
2. In The Blood
3. Heartbreak City
4. The Devil That You Know
5. Change Or Die
6. Roll On
7. Insanity
8. Hellbender
9. Wild Horses
10. Holding On
11. Last Outcast
12. Arrows And Angels

Line-up:
Frankie Banali - drums
Alex Grossi - guitars
Chuck Wright – bass guitar
James Durbin - vocals

GREGG ROLIE Returns After 18 Years With 'Sonic Ranch'

Artist:
LOS ANGELES (August 23, 2019) – When you’re a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, you don’t have a lot to prove. But legendary singer-songwriter and keyboardist Gregg Rolie, who holds that rare distinction as a founding member and original lead vocalist of both Santana and Journey, and who has also been a mainstay of Ringo Starr’s All-Starr Band since 2012, demonstrates that he’s at the top of his game with the release of Sonic Ranch (Megaforce Records), his first feature-length studio album in 18 years.

“I didn’t plan on taking so long to record a new album,” Rolie says. “The simple fact is, I’ve been working. I’ve been writing songs over the years, and we recorded half of them by 2013. Then I got busy touring with Ringo, and I took part in the Santana reunion, Santana IV. Everything took time. Finally, when Santana IV was done, I could get back to finishing the record.”

Rolie recorded the album at several studios in Texas: RMG Studio and Arylyn Studios in Austin, and the Sonic Ranch in Tornillo (the latter of which inspired the record’s title). His son, Sean, served as the main producer, with addition production handled by Chris “Frenchie” Smith and Daniel Sahad. A wide range of Rolie’s illustrious musician friends contributed to Sonic Ranch – among them are his onetime Santana mate Michael Shrieve on drums, as well as bass extraordinaire Alphonso Johnson. And he features not one, but two guitar heroes: Steve Lukather, who plays on the gutsy blues rocker “They Want It All” and the stunning album opener, Give Me Tomorrow,” and fellow Journey alum Neal Schon, who appears on the soulful ballad “Breaking My Heart” and the sinuous groover “Lift Me Up.”

Sonic Ranch’s first single is “What About Love.” The thunderous sing-along epic sees Sean Rolie displaying his own formidable guitar chops. “The song inspired by Ringo Starr and his message of peace and love,” Rolie explains. “I had started writing it, and I would and play around with it at soundchecks with Ringo. It sounded really good, so I took it home, found the bassline, and Sean produced and engineered it. There’s 15 lead vocals on it. Sean played the guitar solo and said, ‘It’s a little out of tune.’ I said, ‘It’s perfectly out of tune. Let’s go!’ He’s such a great player.”

Rolie wrote all of the 13 tracks on the album, with the exception of “They Want It All,” which he penned with Andre Pessis and Kevin Chalfont, and the piano-driven show stopper “Look into the Future,” which he co-wrote with Diane Valory and Neal Schon – the song originally appeared on Journey’s album of the same name in 1976. “I always liked that track and was waiting for a chance to re-arrange it and record my own version of it.” In addition, Rolie re-images Elvis Presley’s classic “Don’t Be Cruel” as a mid-tempo gospel tune, and his spine-tingling vocal performance would draw a nod of approval from the King. “I used to play it in the same manner for encores with my quartet, and it always went over beautifully, so I decided to end the record with it,” Rolie says. “I’ve got the same group of guys on it – Alan Haynes on guitar, drummer Ron Wikso and bassist Sticky Lopez.”

“I’m pretty fortunate to have such good friends who are also some of the best musicians on earth,” says Rolie. “These songs mean a lot to me, and I’m very proud to be putting them out. To have such amazing players helping me to make them a reality is an amazing thing. The album wouldn’t have turned out so well without them.” “What About Love” can be streamed at Spotify . Sonic Ranch is available at iTunes and Amazon.

HURRICANE Cover Queen's 'Under Pressure' With New Lineup

Hurricane releases cover of Queen / David Bowie's classic "Under Pressure"

Hurricane consisting of guitarist Robert Sarzo, bassist Tony Cavazo, drummer Mike Hansen and lead vocalist Chad Cancino has released a cover of the Queen / David Bowie classic track Under Pressure.

Hurricane  formed in the 1980s, originally featuring current Foreigner lead vocalist Kelly Hansen (vocals/rhythm guitar), Robert Sarzo (guitar), Tony Cavazo (bass), and Jay Schellen (drums). Cavazo and Sarzo are the younger brothers of Quiet Riot's Carlos Cavazo and Rudy SarzoSince Hansen's departure from the band in 2003 and the group reforming back in 2010, the lead vocals have been handled by different singers consisting of Andrew Freeman (2010-2012), Jason Ames (2014-2015), Michael O'Mara (2016-2018) and now Chad Cancino.

Hurricane released four albums: Take What You Want (1985), Over The Edge (1988), Slave To The Thrill (1990), and Liquifury (2001).

The iconic group is scheduled to co-headline The Rainbow Bar and Grill Backyard Bash in West Hollywood, California, USA on Sunday, September 1, 2019 along with Steven Adler formerly of Guns N' Roses.

Robert Sarzo states:
"I saw Queen at a very early age with all of the founding members - meaning Freddie Mercury. I always loved them from the first moment I heard any of their songs. When I owned the recording studio in Sherman Oaks, I was doing work with different movies creating music. This was one of the songs I was commissioned to do a cover of for a movie. It never got used because of licensing issues, but I did have Hurricane perform it with a different singer. So I've had it in my vault. And about a couple of years ago, I started listening to it again. And I said, You know what? I'm going to do some changes, I'm going to do some new vocals on it, and I added some guitars. I made it a little heavier and more like Hurricane - because the original approach was more of a cover. So I did the changes and I finished the production of it. I had Chad Cancino sing on it and I loved what he did to it. He really added that texture that I wanted to hear. You have to remember that it was Bowie and Freddie - two of the legends - and it was one of my favorite Queen songs. So I was very excited to work on it. When I listen to it, it puts a smile on my face for a couple of reasons - that I was able to release it as and I've had it in my vault for five years. It's just been sitting there and I'm a fan of Queen and I wanted the public to hear it."
