Jon Anderson & Jean Luc Ponty To Release New CD/DVD “Better Late Than Never”

Release Year:
2015
Categories:
News Feed

Los Angeles - One of the most eagerly awaited releases of 2015 by the AndersonPonty Band, featuring music icons Jon Anderson and Jean Luc Ponty, is scheduled to hit the streets early Fall 2015! “Better Late Than Never” is the new album taken from a live performance, and enhanced with innovative production. The package includes a bonus DVD featuring outstanding performances by the band captured in September 2014 at the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, Colorado.

The AndersonPonty Band has created some breathtaking new musical compositions. “Better Late Than Never” also showcases rearrangements of classic YES hits like “Owner Of A Lonely Heart”, “Roundabout” and “Wonderous Stories”, as well as some of Jean Luc Ponty's beloved compositions, with Jon's lyrical vocals and melodies enhancing the music and creating a very special and unique sound such as “Infinite Mirage” a new song incorporating Jean Luc's classic tune “Mirage”.

YES's original singer/songwriter for 35 years, Jon Anderson has had a successful solo career, which includes working with such notable music artists as Vangelis, Kitaro, and Milton Nascimento. International violin superstar Jean Luc Ponty is a pioneer and undisputed master of his instrument in the arena of jazz and rock. He is widely regarded as an innovator who has applied his unique visionary spin that has expanded the vocabulary of modern music. Together these two music legends have formed a musical synergy that is unparalleled!

A breakthrough feeling came as I sang with Jean Luc's music, to be in a band again is very exciting on many levels, we will play and sing our way around the world and have fun, for music is pleasure, music is all that is.” - Jon Anderson

Collaborating with Jon who is such a creative singer/songwriter is unlike any project I have done before. I knew that we had plenty of musical affinities to make it work, but the result is way beyond my expectations. It is also a lot of fun to reunite with these excellent musicians who played with me in the past, they really put their heart in this project and with Jon's creative input we are not just rehashing the past but giving a new life to the music we started developing decades ago.” - Jean Luc Ponty

The AndersonPonty Band also includes Jamie Glaser on guitars - well known guitarist who has worked with Jean Luc Ponty, Chick Corea, Bryan Adams and Lenny White; Wally Minko on keyboards - virtuoso player and composer who has performed and recorded with many worldwide stars including Pink, Toni Braxton, Jean Luc Ponty, Tom Jones, Gregg Rolie and Barry Manilow; Baron Browne on bass who has played with Steve Smith, Billy Cobham and Jean Luc Ponty; and Rayford Griffin on drums and percussion, who has played with Stanley Clarke Band, George Duke, Jean Luc Ponty and Michael Jackson. The band visit the music created by Jon Anderson and Jean Luc Ponty over the years with new arrangements, virtuosic performances and new energy.

Jean Luc Ponty was originally approached by Jon Anderson with the idea of working together as far back as the 1980's. Now 30 years later the dream has finally come to fruition! In support of the new release, a world tour is currently in the works. Jimmy Page Shares Triumph & Tragedy Of Final Years Of LED ZEPPELIN

Artist:
Release Year:

Podcasts & Radio

Dallas, TX - July 29, 2015. North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands  concludes its conversations with Led Zeppelin founder, guitarist, producer and songwriter Jimmy Page with a revealing look at the final years of Led Zeppelin.

For over a decade Led Zeppelin soared above the Rock'n'Roll world, setting course with their groundbreaking 1969 debut, then trailblazing through the Seventies selling millions of albums and concert tickets. But it was this very demand for more' larger crowds, longer tours' which would vie for focus from these four still rather young men trying, in some cases, to start a family or deal with fame and fortune. Factor into this heady brew the fate of the unknown and unforeseen, and you get legendary creative highs and the most tragic losses and lows.  That's what you have with what turned out to be the final Led Zeppelin studio albums Presence in 1976, the timeless In Through The Out Door in 1979, and the post-original collection of rarities called Coda.

InTheStudio host Redbeard speaks at length to band founder/ guitarist/ producer Jimmy Page about his comprehensive overhaul of the Led Zeppelin catalog which now has given fans the most authoritative look at the band's illustrious career.  In Through The Out Door is played every day on US radio, but as the studio album which preceded drummer John Bonham's death, Jimmy Page assures us that it was never meant to be Led Zeppelin's last.

'Of course it wasn't. There'd have been another album after that. I know John Bonham and I had discussed that. And if you want to have an idea about what way that would go, well then just listen to 'Bonzo's Montreux' and see where he's given a good hand to be able to do drum orchestra and really enjoy himself. He used to like to get into things where he could really get in and groove... We probably would have gone in that direction, but it's hard to tell '.'  - Jimmy Page

WHITESNAKE'S GUITARIST JOEL HOEKSTRA TO RELEASE:
DYING TO LIVE on Frontiers Records October 16

ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING MELODIC, HARD ROCK ALBUMS OF THE YEAR!

FEATURING: JEFF SCOTT SOTO, RUSSELL ALLEN, TONY FRANKLIN, VINNY APPICE AND DEREK SHERINIAN

HOLLYWOOD, CA (July 29, 2015) Joel Hoekstra has announced the release of his new melodic hard rock studio album “Dying To Live” from his electrifying new side project, Joel Hoekstra’s 13Hoekstra is best known to rock fans as the currrent guitarist for Whitesnake, and also known for his work with Night Ranger, Trans Siberian Orchestra and the show Rock of Ages.

Dying To Live features an all-star cast of rockers including Jeff Scott Soto (vocals), Russell Allen (vocals), Tony Franklin (bass), Vinny Appice (drums), and Derek Sherinian (keyboards), and will be available via Frontiers Music SRL on Friday, October 16th.

Hoekstra took charge of the creative process by handling the production, song writing and arranging (music and lyrics).  The end result could best be described as hard, melodic, classic rock that is Dio'ish at its heaviest and Foreigner'ish at its lightest.
“Years ago, I released three solo albums that were mainly instrumental guitar music.  I wanted to put something out that showcased my production, writing and playing in the genre that I'm known for, which is melodic, hard rock’’, explains Hoekstra. ‘’That’s when I decided to start what I consider to be my rock side project, Joel Hoekstra's 13. Dying To Live focuses on struggles, potential pitfalls and the art of overcoming obstacles in life to finally arrive where we are meant to be.’’

Dying To Live was conceived before Hoekstra joined Whitesnake. David Coverdale gave the album his full blessing. “David wants his players to spread their wings and fly and of course be ready to rock when Whitesnake needs them, which obviously won't be an issue.”
Excited how the new album turned out, Hoekstra is looking forward to the overall reaction from fans and media. “I hope everyone will give it a listen. I feel it showcases my production, writing and playing in the genre I’m best known for thèse days. The line-up of musicians is stellar!  I want to thank everyone for any support in advance.  Life is good!

STREET TALK is the brainchild of Swedish keyboardist/songwriter FREDRIK BERGH. Their debut came in 1997 with the album ‘Collaboration’.
The album featured, amongst others, guest vocalist Göran Edman who would continue to work with Fredrik throughout the Street Talk history.

In 2000, the album ‘Transition’ was released featuring Goran again on a set of smooth Westcoast/AOR tunes.

In 2002 STREET TALK signed to the now defunct MTM Music label for the excellent album 'Restoration'. The opus featured vocals from Goran once again and also two popular tracks from American AOR vocalist HUGO.

In 2006 the band released their fourth all-original studio album – the distinctly more powerful, pure AOR masterpiece ‘V’. Featuring Goran Edman on all vocals, the album was the defining moment of Street Talk’s history.

Since the release of ‘V’ in 2006, STREET TALK has been on hiatus, but Fredrik has been as busy as ever as a founding member of melodic metal band Bloodbound as well as writing and working with such artists as Revolution Saints, Steve Augeri, Steve Overland, Joe Lynn Turner, Rob Moratti, Harry Hess, Bob Halligan jr, Phenomena, Seven and Anette Olzon

Further details of the reissues will be available soon, but in the meantime, please enjoy one song from each of the albums:

From ‘V’ – Responsible

From ‘Restoration’ – Why Is My Heart Feeling Lonely Tonight

Tour News

Due to the overwhelming success of Judas Priest's 17th studio effort overall, 'Redeemer of Souls' (which became the highest-charting album of their career, when it debuted on the Billboard 200 charts at #6), the band has announced a fall tour, which will hit the U.S. and Canada, from October 16th through November 12th. Supporting Priest on the U.S. dates and the Halifax engagement will be one of modern metal's top bands, Mastodon.

'Redeemer of Souls' also went on to become one of the most critically acclaimed releases of the band's career, with Rolling Stone stating, "Above all, 'Redeemer' is proof that Priest can still call themselves metal's defenders of the faith," while Revolver Magazine offered further praise, "Thus rejuvenated and recharged, the Metal Gods have delivered their strongest record in over a decade."

Comprised of Rob Halford (vocals), Glenn Tipton (guitar), Richie Faulkner (guitar), Ian Hill (bass), and Scott Travis (drums), Judas Priest is responsible for some of heavy metal's all-time classic anthems ("Living After Midnight," "Breaking the Law," "You've Got Another Thing Coming," etc.) and albums ('British Steel,' 'Screaming for Vengeance,' 'Painkiller,' etc.).
