German Neoclassical Heavy Metal band, MICHAEL SCHINKEL'SETERNAL FLAME, have released a new music video for ‘Tease My Love‘, featuring Göran Edman (ex-Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum) on vocals. The song is taken from their third album ‘Smoke On The Mountain‘, which was released in May 2018. The album was produced by Michael Schinkel & Helmut Kohlpaintner, co-produced by Timothy Touchton, mixed by Michael Schinkel and mastered by Christoph Stickel. The Album artwork was made by Gustavo Sazes (Angra, Firewind, Iced Earth, Dream Evil).
Born and raised in Denmark, Michael Jessen played with several rock bands through his youth, including “McTamparcs” to “High Octane”, “RockStar” and several others.
He picked up the guitar by the age of 15, and a childhood friend taught him how to play the main riff for AC/DC’s “Hells Bells”.
For 2014’s debut ‘Memories’, Michael teamed with one of his vocal heroes Goran Edman, who I am very pleased to say is back in the frontman role for all vocals on the new ‘Bulletproof’ release.
MelodicRock Records is overjoyed to be bringing one of our favourite vocalists to the label. The mighty, Goran Edman is the frontman for the latest signing to the label, THE SENIOR MANAGEMENT.
MRR isn’t afraid to take chances when the music demands attention and The Senior Management is a no-brainer. Their mature mix of styles pushes the boundaries of melodic rock, westcoast AOR while including a touch of country and acoustic pop/rock.
The debut self-titled album is being exclusively handled by MRR for the CD format, with a digital release due early next month.
The MRR CD release will be a limited edition and is released May 30.
Check out these two monster songs that bookend the debut album:
The Senior Management Bio:
In the summer of 2015 guitarist Dennis Heltorp and drummer Henrik Zetterlund formed the rock band The Senior Management. Together they have been involved in different
music project since the late 80’s. During the first half of the 90’s they collaborated in the band
Y.M.I where they reached the finals in the Swedish championship of rock music.
In the mid 90’s Y.M.I played at a rock festival and was warm up act for Billionaires Boys Club who
was headlining. Billionaires Boy Club was Jörg Fischer (Accept), Anders Johansson (Yngwie Malmsteen) Göran Edman (Yngwie Malmsten, John Norum) and Magnus Rosén (Hammerfall).
Magnus was at the time in the beginning of his career and that later would bring him to several successful years with Hammerfall. Göran had recently left Yngwie Malmsteen
band when he replaced Marc Boals in Billionaires Boys Club. During this rock festival, it was the
first time we all met and none of us had any idea that we 20 years later would team up together as
The Senior Management.
Dennis Heltorp: “In order to find our sound, we did some demos with different voices like Tony Martin from Black Sabbath and Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman, Soto, Sons Of Apollo). However, all pieces fell into place after the first demo run with Göran. He finally added with his voice and amazing vocal harmonies the missing piece to complete our sound.”
Some listeners say that The Senior Management sound like a blend of The Eagles and Thin Lizzy.
Others have said they sound like Journey or Bon Jovi.
After three albums with his band IMPERA, founding drummer Johan Kihlberg decided it was time to spread his wings, and the Swede came up with the idea to record his first solo effort, Johan Kihlberg’s Impera “Age Of Discovery”. “I felt this would give me the opportunity to spread my wings a bit and work with some other people," Johan said. "I grew up with bands like KISS, QUEEN, ABBA and THE BEATLES, who were not afraid to have a wide range of styles on their albums. I’m obviously a hard rock fan at heart, but I’m also influenced by bands like SIMPLE MINDS, KRAFTWERK, MANFRED MANN’S EARTH BAND, HUMAN LEAGUE and many others. I’m also a huge fan of movies and movie soundtracks."
The first person Johan approached was LION’S SHARE guitarist Lars Chriss, who is also a renowned producer and mixer. “Johan and I got together and started writing songs," Chriss said. "He usually had an idea of the direction and we took it from there. We also had a couple of friends coming up with basic ideas for about half of the album. We had the luxury to cherry-pick the songs we thought would add to what we already had going. For lyrics and melodies we worked closely with singer Mick Devine of the band SEVEN, whom I’ve done a couple albums with the last couple of years. My old friend and LION’S SHARE keyboardist Kay Backlund stepped up to the plate and worked with us on a couple of tracks as well."
Kihlberg and Chriss decided to work with several different singers on the project, while enlisting Kihlberg’s longtime friend and IMPERA bandmate Mats Vassfjord to lay down the bass tracks. "As soon as we had the songs written, we started thinking about what voice and singer that would fit each individual track the best," Kihlberg said. "Fortunately, they all agreed and did an amazing job on the album. I even managed to get one of my all-time favorite singers, Michael Sadler from SAGA, to sing a song."
Johan Kihlberg’s Impera “Age Of Discovery” features a wide range of musical influences while remaining a very strong, melodic and powerful album. It boasts great production work by Chriss and a stunning artwork by Carl-André Beckston.
Line-up: Johan Kihlberg - Drums/Keyboards; Lars Chriss (Lion’s Share)- Guitars; Mats Vassfjord (220 Volt) Bass; Michael Sadler (Saga) - Lead & Backing Vocalss on 8; Göran Edman (Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum) - Lead & Backing Vocals on 6; Mick Devine (Seven) - Lead Vocals on 3, 5, 9 - Backing Vocals on 3, 7, 9, bonus track; Nigel Bailey (Bailey) - Lead Vocals on 7, 10, bonus track - Backing Vocals on 5, 10 ; Nils Patrik Johansson (Lion’s Share, Astral Doors) - Lead & Backing Vocals on 2, 3; Michael J. Scott - Lead & Backing Vocals on 4; Mattias IA Eklundh (Freak Kitchen) - solo on 9; Kay Backlund (Lion’s Share) - Keyboards on 1, 3, 6; Anders Rybank (Coastland Ride) - Keyboards on 8
Cry Of Dawn is the feature vehicle for Swedish vocalist great Goran Edman, this time partnering with one of Frontiers Records’ in-house producers, Daniel Flores (Find Me, Murder Of My Sweet). Daniel has had a busy year, with First Signal and Palace already under his belt and Toby Hitchcock still to come.
I’ve never found a Goran Edman album I don’t like and this is no different. He is one of those vocalists that just delivers time after time and it hardly needs stating that he sounds a million dollars here again. Flores again enlists Michael Palace to supply guitars, so it’s not surprising to find the musical bed of this project very similar to those others just mentioned.
Cry Of Dawn’s musical mission is not too far removed from that of Street Talk which he also fronts.
It’s not very often I’ll say this – but this time around there are too many keyboards. The absolute saturation of swirling keys on every track is just too much. There’s not enough room for the songs to breathe in my opinion.
Of course Edman does a killer job and most of the songs are pretty catchy. There’s plenty to like about the opener Chance and the slightly heavier Tell It To My Heart has a great bridge then chorus hook.
Light A Light and Can’t Go On are both very Street Talk in their sound and again feature killer choruses.
Hands Around My Heart is a beautiful ballad, but slightly overdone with the keyboards again.
I can’t stand the chorus in the second track Listen To Me, which is a shame, that ultra high vocal just grates on me. It’s probably the only weaker track here, there are others that don’t stand out as much as others, but nothing forgettable.
I love the vocals, I really love a few of the songs and the consistency of the album is a credit to the songwriters. I’m not so much a fan of the production style. As stated, I think the keyboards are way overdone and there’s not enough individual character in the album to make it stand out as a new band to rival those that came before them.
If you have the last First Signal and Find Me releases, you know exactly how this is going to sound. It’s good, but not quite as good as expected.
Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to present CRY OF DAWN, a new melodic rock/AOR project featuring Goran Edman on all lead vocals. The self-titled debut album will be released on September 23rd.
Over the years, Goran Edman's unique vocal style has been showcased in numerous genres including neoclassic metal, progressive rock, and AOR, just to name a few. His vocal stylings can be found on records by John Norum, Yngwie Malmsteen, Brazen Abbot, and Glory, among others.
CRY OF DAWN is Goran Edman's latest musical adventure: a straight ahead AOR / melodic rock album which highlights his amazing vocal abilities on superb songs written especially for him by the likes of Michael Palace (Palace, First Signal, Kryptonite), Steve Newman, Alessandro Del Vecchio, Soren Kronkvist, Daniel Palmqvist and Robert Sall among others.
'It's been a privilege to work with all these good songwriters within the genre of classic AOR,' tells Goran. 'The conformity of the production has a good red line with a straight forward melodic flow as you would expect. Its been a true pleasure performing it. The recording of the album took place in Daniel Flores' studio for the instrumental part while I did the vocals in my own studio. Personally I am grateful to be a part of this project and look forward to the fans listening to the album'.
The result is a true feast for the ears of all lovers of this music. Picture hints of the likes of Night Ranger, Journey, Bad English and Starship and you'll get a sense of what is in store for you! Hear for yourself with an album sampler:

STREET TALK is the brainchild of Swedish keyboardist/songwriter FREDRIK BERGH. Their debut came in 1997 with the album ‘Collaboration’.
The album featured, amongst others, guest vocalist Göran Edman who would continue to work with Fredrik throughout the Street Talk history.
In 2000, the album ‘Transition’ was released featuring Goran again on a set of smooth Westcoast/AOR tunes.
In 2002 STREET TALK signed to the now defunct MTM Music label for the excellent album 'Restoration'. The opus featured vocals from Goran once again and also two popular tracks from American AOR vocalist HUGO.
In 2006 the band released their fourth all-original studio album – the distinctly more powerful, pure AOR masterpiece ‘V’. Featuring Goran Edman on all vocals, the album was the defining moment of Street Talk’s history.
Since the release of ‘V’ in 2006, STREET TALK has been on hiatus, but Fredrik has been as busy as ever as a founding member of melodic metal band Bloodbound as well as writing and working with such artists as Revolution Saints, Steve Augeri, Steve Overland, Joe Lynn Turner, Rob Moratti, Harry Hess, Bob Halligan jr, Phenomena, Seven and Anette Olzon
