MelodicRockFest Australia is taking place in Melbourne on May 13 and 14, 2016 at the Elephant & Wheelbarrow in St. Kilda.

International Headline acts Eclipse (Sweden) and Paul Laine (Canada)(ex-Danger Danger) will be joined by Australia’s brightest rock talent, including BB Steal, Black Majesty, Vanishing Point, The Radio Sun, Serpentine Sky, White Widdow and Teargas.

And it just got bigger…

H.E.A.T vocalist and event special guest Erik Gronwall will no longer be performing with Eclipse for their encore at MelodicRockFest Australia.

He will instead be doing a FULL SOLO SET with the help of a few locals. Yes! That's plugged in, full band, in your face Erik Gronwall!

Pumping out an hour of solo and H.E.A.T tracks, Erik was only too happy to jump in and help out in the wake of Mitch Malloy's withdrawal.

My sincere thanks goes to Erik!

He made only 1 request. In order to deliver a knockout set, he would need a one of his buddies to help. So please welcome H.E.A.T's own Jona Tee to MelodicRockFest! Jona will join Erik for his set and will also hang out for the weekend to meet local fans.

But that’s not all…

I’m pleased to announce that another great local band will be joining the event to headline Friday night. Fresh from their performances on national TV on Australia’s Got Talent, welcome Sisters Doll to MRF!

The addition of these two performances completes the MRFAU lineup.

Frontiers Announce Signing of JONO

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the signing of one of the hottest new bands in the European Melodic Rock scene, from Sweden: JONO!

The band started as a solo project of singer Johan Norrby (hence the moniker 'JoNo'), who debuted with an independently released record in 2006. That was the starting point of the band who, since then, has released two very well received albums: REQUIEM (2013) and SILENCE (2015).

Singer and songwriter Johan Norrby has been singing, writing and playing music in countless bands and projects for years and years ' which very much goes for all of the guys in the band.The guitarist, Stefan Helleblad, is also a member of Dutch symphonic rockstars Within Temptation. The drummer Nicka Hellenberg actually played all the drums on Within Temptation's album "The Unforgiving" and is involved in several band and recordings. Both keyboard player Johan Carlgren and bass player Janne Henriksson are frequently hired for both live and studio sessions. Leo Olsson ' also a busy musician ' joined JONO in 2015.

The band says: 'We are very thrilled and proud about our cooperation with Frontiers Music Srl, a label which is home to so many great artists we truly respect and admire. As a band this is an excellent opportunity to reach the international markets we've been aiming for. We can't wait to get started with the production of the coming album, and of course hitting the stage to be heard and seen by a wider audience, meeting with old and new fans. See you all out there!'

JONO's exciting music is hard to pinpoint. Maybe it is best described as AOR/Progressive rock, based on strong melodies, with symphonic arrangements. Dynamics and a contemporary, fat sound are also important ingredients of the JONO recipe. Often compared to Queen, Supertramp, Kansas, Journey and Sparks, the band has received a lot of credit and praise because of their unique sound and performance.

The band will be releasing a new record for Frontiers Music Srl in 2017 and more exciting surprises for fans of the band are on the way!

Los Angeles - In a career that spans nearly 30 years and includes over 60 album credits, Joe Lynn Turner remains one of rock and roll's most distinctive, soulful and expressive vocalists. Best known for his work with hard rock band Rainbow, during his career, Turner fronted pop rock band Fandango, and had stints with Yngwie Malmsteen and Deep Purple. From the mid 1990s, he worked with various musical groups (Mother's Army, Hughes Turner Project, Sunstorm, etc.), while pursuing a solo career.

Now, much to the excitement of Joe Lynn Turner fans worldwide, Cleopatra Records is issuing a vintage unreleased live album from the vaults of legendary hard rock vocalist of the mighty Rainbow titled “Street Of Dreams - Boston 1985”. Recorded during the tour of Turner's newly released debut solo album “Rescue You”, the set includes a couple of nods to Rainbow with brilliant renditions of “Stone Cold,” (Rainbow's first ever Top 40 US single) as well as "Street Of Dreams!”

Says Joe about the concert recording, “That night at the Boston Paradise, it was outstanding. I can remember seeing the audience and I remember there was an awkward pillar - I guess it was a support column in front - not directly in front, but enough to block some of the view. But the stage was an actual concert stage. Aerosmith and all those guys used to always play there, the Paradise.

“So I can remember actually going on and playing the set, how it felt because it was absolutely exhilarating, and the audience was just crazy.”

A year out from departing Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, whom he led through three classic albums earlier in the decade, Turner had just released his first solo album, “Rescue You”, produced by Roy Thomas Baker. This live show was, for obvious reason, weighted towards Rescue You.

Joe recalls, “This was our first tour out, and I’m not sure if we were opening for someone at the Paradise, but if we were, then they had a pretty difficult time because the crowd was absolutely bananas for us, and we were hot. We were really on top of our game, the whole band and it sounds it, you can hear it, everyone is playing with incredible energy and enthusiasm and very precise.”

Accompanying Turner was the band that recorded the album, a tight unit of Bobby Messano (guitar, background vocals), Alan Greenwood (keyboards), Chuck Burgi (drums) plus one newcomer, Barry Dunaway (bass).

ANGEL to Appear At The Vegas Rocks! Hair Metal Awards

Legendary Rock Group ANGEL will appear at the 2016 Vegas Rocks! Hair Metal Awards in Las Vegas on May 15. The group will receive the Glam Rock Legends Award in honor of their contributions and influence in music. Accepting the award will be Punky Meadows, Frank DiMino, Gregg Giuffria, Barry Brandt, and Felix Robinson. This will be the first time all band members have been onstage together since 1980. From Frank DiMino: 'It's going to be lots of fun and we're all looking forward to seeing one another! It's been way too long.' Kalish Management confirmed the members are not performing at the event. ANGEL Biography

ANGEL was formed in 1975 by guitarist Punky Meadows and bassist Mickie Jones in Washington, D.C. After becoming the house band at Bogeys the group built a strong following and eventually managers and record companies started to come around. Gordon Fletcher, a writer and reviewer for Rolling Stone and Creem Magazine would frequent the club and took notice of the band. Fletcher invited Gene Simmons from KISS to see them perform. Simmons was not only impressed, he was 'blown away'.

That summer, ANGEL signed a management contract and relocated to Los Angeles. Their manager financed the recording of their first album with producers Big Jim Sullivan and Derek Lawrence. Casablanca Records signed ANGEL to a multi-album deal upon the recommendation of KISS without hearing a single note or seeing the band live. On October 23, 1975 their debut album was released and ANGEL was voted best new band by the reader's poll of Circus Magazine. During that same year, ANGEL was awarded a gold record for the best and most promising new band in Japan. Their legendary live performances included an elaborate stage show incorporating magic tricks by magician Doug Henning, pyrotechnics, smoke, an incredible light show, a larger than life talking angel named Gabriel, members mysteriously appearing and disappearing onstage, and angelic all-white costumes. Many critics labeled them a glam band due to their flamboyant image. The progressive rock style from the first two albums would eventually evolve into mainstream hard rock on the 3rd and 4th albums. Later, due to record company pressure, the band adapted a more commercial rock sound with strong melodies and pop sensibilities as evidenced on their 5^th album.

The group released a total of eight albums: 'Angel' which includes their signature song 'The Tower', 'Helluva Band', 'On Earth As It Is In Heaven', 'White Hot' 'Sinful', 'Live Without A Net', 'An Anthology', and 'In The Beginning'. Their television appearances included American Bandstand, Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, and The Midnight Special. The 'White Hot' album included a version of The Rascal's 'Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore' which became ANGEL's highest charting single reaching #44 on Billboard. ANGEL toured non-stop for years with such names as Rush, Aerosmith, Styx, Ted Nugent, Blackmore's Rainbow, Bob Seger, ZZ Top, Blue Oyster Cult, Judas Priest, Peter Frampton, and many others. The group traveled to Japan for a highly successful tour which included two nights headlining the legendary Budokan. Upon arriving at Narita Airport they were greeted by hundreds of screaming fans.

In the film 'Foxes' starring Jody Foster, ANGEL appeared as themselves and their songs '20^th Century Foxes' and 'Virginia' were included on the film's soundtrack. 'Wild and Hot' from the 'Sinful' album was used in the KISS film, 'Detroit Rock City'. Finally, in 1980 the band decided to call it a day. Years later a revamped version of the group was formed featuring DiMino and Brandt along with several new members. This resulted in a new album and live shows in Europe and the USA.

Since the band's heyday each member has moved on to various music projects and business ventures. Frank DiMino became a well-respected vocal coach and in-demand session singer receiving a platinum album for his vocal contribution in the blockbuster film 'Flashdance'. In 2015 he released his solo album 'Old Habits Die Hard' under the moniker Dimino. Keyboardist Gregg Giuffria formed the AOR bands Giuffria and House of Lords resulting in several hit singles and international success. Bassist Felix Robinson toured with 707 and played on White Lion's album 'Fight To Survive'. Drummer Barry Brandt played on many LA sessions with different artists. Guitarist Punky Meadows whom Frank Zappa immortalized in the song 'Punky's Whips' will release his debut solo album in May, 2016. Tragically, founding member and original bassist Mickie Jones passed away from cancer in 2009.

More sad news from the dysfunctional world of SURVIVOR. Vocalist Dave Bickler has left. Or been removed. Under what circumstances it is not clear - although the tweet from Frankie Sullivan suggests - it was not good.

"To all my dear fans, Bitter sweet news that I am no longer a member of Survivor. Just wanted to share that with you. There is no longer a place for me in the band. So I'll be moving on and direct all my energies to my solo project. And thank you for all your support. Peace. Dave."

Best known as lead vocalist for the legendary Melodic Rock masters Danger Danger, Ted Poley is also an accomplished solo artist, having released two acclaimed releases, 'Collateral Damage' (2006) and 'Smile'(2007).

The story of 'Beyond The Fade' starts after Danger Danger's acclaimed performance at Frontiers Rock Festival in Milano in 2014, when he and the label developed the idea to work together on some new music. The next step was to speak to producer Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Edge of Forever) and with a band that he put together, Ted performed at the second edition of the Frontiers Rock Festival. A few months later, Ted came back to Italy to finish the vocals on the album.

Ted says: 'I am absolutely thrilled with the way the whole album came out. If I have one quote: "ITS AWESOME!" My great friend and co-producer Alessandro Del Vecchio brought my sonic vision to life and no request from me was too great for him toward his goal of making "The Ultimate Ted Poley Solo Album" and he surely delivered on his promise. We had alot of fun making the album and its obvious when you hear it. You can practically hear my smile while I am singing. We decided to make it sound BIG and there are a ton of backing vocals (in some cases more than 80 tracks of them!), along with great songs, soaring melodic guitar leads, pounding bass and big drums, all layered with cool keyboards... like a delicious Musical Cake! Save some room for dessert, I KNOW THAT YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS ONE!'

With songs penned by the brothers Tom and James Martin (VEGA) and 'Hands of Love' written by Tony Bruno/Joe Lynn Turner Official Page, the sound of the record is nothing else but Ted Poley at his best, with immediately recognizable hooklines, amazing guitar work, immaculate production and total 80's attitude!
