Categories:

MRF5 is done and dusted, but once again I had the entire event filmed “official bootleg” style.
The footage is currently being put together and edited, as there are 4-6 camera angles to work out.

Select performances from the event will be available on MR-USB4, a strictly limited edition release of just 100 units.

Date of availability is still TBD, but will be this side of Christmas!

Here is the first video preview of some of the fully mixed/edited footage...

Below is the link to pre-order. Presales were offered to past participants and MRF VIPs, so there is less than half the allocation still left. It will sell out, just as the other USB drives have.

MELODICROCKFEST Expands ERIK GRONWALL Set & Jona Tee Will Join In

Release Year:

Categories:
Tour News

MelodicRockFest Australia is taking place in Melbourne on May 13 and 14, 2016 at the Elephant & Wheelbarrow in St. Kilda.

International Headline acts Eclipse (Sweden) and Paul Laine (Canada)(ex-Danger Danger) will be joined by Australia’s brightest rock talent, including BB Steal, Black Majesty, Vanishing Point, The Radio Sun, Serpentine Sky, White Widdow and Teargas.

And it just got bigger…

H.E.A.T vocalist and event special guest Erik Gronwall will no longer be performing with Eclipse for their encore at MelodicRockFest Australia.

He will instead be doing a FULL SOLO SET with the help of a few locals. Yes! That's plugged in, full band, in your face Erik Gronwall!
Pumping out an hour of solo and H.E.A.T tracks, Erik was only too happy to jump in and help out in the wake of Mitch Malloy's withdrawal.

My sincere thanks goes to Erik!

He made only 1 request. In order to deliver a knockout set, he would need a one of his buddies to help. So please welcome H.E.A.T's own Jona Tee to MelodicRockFest! Jona will join Erik for his set and will also hang out for the weekend to meet local fans.

But that’s not all…

I’m pleased to announce that another great local band will be joining the event to headline Friday night. Fresh from their performances on national TV on Australia’s Got Talent, welcome Sisters Doll to MRF!

The addition of these two performances completes the MRFAU lineup.

For those that have purchased tickets already – those will be at the printer next week, so should start arriving in mailboxes the week after (March 14 onwards). Thanks for your patience there and for your support of this event!

MELODICROCKFEST Australia; Mitch Malloy Pulls Out

Release Year:
2015
Categories:
Tour News

It is with great regret that I must announce the withdrawal of MITCH MALLOY from MelodicRock Fest Australia.

Mitch was really looking forward to making his Australian debut with his backing band Kaato, but an increasingly packed production schedule in Nashville and ongoing recording of a new solo album ahead of Mitch’s UK tour have forced him to have to pull out of this event.

Mitch sends his apologies to Aussie fans.

In light of the short time frame between now and the event, an international guest is unlikely to be able to replace Mitch, rather each band on the day will play longer sets. I know Paul Laine’s happy to get more time and BB Steal will be taking as much time as they like to run through their classic debut and some Boss tracks.

Further information on an addition to the Friday lineup (in place of Kaato) will be announced shortly.

MelodicRock Fest takes place May 13/14, 2016 at the Elephant & Wheelbarrow, St. Kilda.

Full details and tickets available at: www.melodicrockfest.com

After 4 successful events in the USA, Australian website and record label MelodicRock.com is bringing the popular MelodicRockFest event home.
MelodicRockFest Australia will make its local debut in Melbourne on May 13 and 14, 2016 at the Elephant & Wheelbarrow in St. Kilda.

International Headline acts Eclipse (Sweden) and Paul Laine (Canada)(ex-Danger Danger) will be joined by Australia’s brightest rock talent, including BB Steal, Black Majesty, Vanishing Point and The Radio Sun.

For nearly 20 years now, MelodicRock.com has been covering the movements of the best melodic and hard rock acts from all over the world. From chart topping stadium fillers to independent studio projects, the site covers all the legends of the rock world, while placing a strong emphasis on new and upcoming artists plus the labels and people behind them.

MelodicRockFest takes that same attitude and brings it into a live setting. Mirroring the USA event's vision, MelodicRockFest Australia will exclusively showcase some of the best international melodic rock acts, some making their Australian debut, with support from some of the best local rock acts rounding out the line-up.

This is a festival demanded by the loyal local fans. It’s a one of a kind. It’s small, it’s intimate and it’s for those that recall the glory days of Adult Orientated Rock.

Appearing at MelodicRockFest is:

Saturday May 14 (Headline Day)

ECLIPSE (Sweden)
Eclipse are one of Sweden’s premiere melodic hard rock acts. They boast a strong following across all of Europe and are sought after session musicians when not touring. In 2015 the band released their critically acclaimed 5th studio album ‘Armageddonize’ and just recently were invited to participate in the Swedish heats for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.
This will be the band’s first trip down under and they plan on making the most of it by delivering a blistering set that won’t be soon forgotten.

ERIK GRONWALL (Sweden)(Special Guest)
Erik is the energetic frontman for one of Europe’s most in-demand rock bands, H.E.A.T. The band will be looking to hit Australia next tour, but for now, their popular frontman is making his own way down under to sample some local brews, hang out with fans and join Eclipse on stage for an extended encore that is sure to bring the house down!
Erik will also deliver an exclusive acoustic set for VIP ticket holders on the Friday afternoon.

PAUL LAINE (Canada)
Paul Laine has a career spanning over 25 years, starting off in the Vancouver rock scene, before signing with Elektra Records for his major label debut ‘Stick It In Your Ear’, an album produced by the legendary Bruce Fairbairn. In 1995 Paul joined American rock band Danger Danger as their new frontman for a 4 album run. His other projects include Shugaazer and Andersen Readman Laine, plus his currently touring country rock band Dark Horse.
Paul will perform a true best of set, featuring favourites from Danger Danger as well as all aspects of his career. This will be Paul’s second trip down under.

BB STEAL (Adelaide)
BB Steal are legends of the Australian melodic rock scene. Their major label debut was produced by Def Leppard’s Phil Collen and the band has often been touted as the “new” Def Leppard due to their layered, anthemic sound.
This will be their first Melbourne show in many years and will also feature permanent member, vocalist Craig Csongrady and the return of original guitarist Kevin Pratt! Expect the band to deliver a set heavy with tracks from their cult debut album as well as a few from 2013’s comeback album ‘Resurrection’.

WHITE WIDDOW (Melbourne)
White Widdow are the torch bearers for the classic 80s keyboard driven AOR sound here in Australia. The band are regulars on the Melbourne rock circuit and will deliver a set featuring tracks from their first three albums and their soon to be recorded fourth studio opus.

THE RADIO SUN (Melbourne)
The Radio Sun are fast becoming Australia’s harmony kings, with two highly acclaimed albums now available, both filled with classic harmony driven AOR. The guys have also doubled as Paul Laine’s backing band for the last few years, appearing with him at events in USA as well as here in Australia. Expect a great set of song from the two albums and a few surprises too.

SERPENTINE SKY (Melbourne)
Releasing their debut album 20 years after originally forming, Serpentine Sky are looking to make up for lost time and will blow fans away with their energy and the highly addictive songs from their recently released debut.

TEARGAS (Melbourne)
Teargas are back together after a 10 year hiatus. Last seen acting as Jeff Scott Soto’s support act for his 2004 OZ tour, the Melbourne lads are ready to kick it back into high gear and will open the main day with the energy of a headliner.

Friday May 13:

VANISHING POINT (Melbourne)
Melbourne’s own melodic metal heroes are excited to take part in this event. Without doubt, the heaviest band of the festival, but for this occasion the guys are going to delve into their back catalogue for some more melodic numbers alongside their most epic tracks.

TONK (Canberra)
Tonk take the hard rock back to the glory days of the American Sunset Strip. They have a groove and an attitude Guns N Roses would be proud of. Another rarity to have the band playing in Melbourne.

PAUL LAINE (Acoustic Set)
A completely different set of solo and Danger Danger tracks to blow fans away.

BLACK MAJESTY (Exclusive Acoustic Set)
An Australian exclusive! The Black Majesty guys have never played an acoustic set in their home country, so expect them to deliver something very special.

THE RADIO SUN (Acoustic Set)
Kicking off the event is one of the hardest working bands this weekend. The band will be promoting their upcoming acoustic project.

Just who is Kaato? You won’t forget them after this show. Get ready to hear the band’s debut album, which is currently being completed with producer and guitarist…..

KEVIN CHALFANT Joins MECCA for 'Mecca III' and MRF4

Artist:

Tour News
We’ve got one more small adjustment to the MelodicRockFest 4 lineup to make.

Due to a scheduling conflict not in place at the time of arranging the MRF event, Jimi Jamison is now not able to attend to join Joe Vana and Mecca on stage.
Jimi was awesome at MRF3 and this is disappointing news, but Survivor now kick off European dates within days of Jimi’s planned MRF appearance.

So how do we compensate for this? How about calling up the one, the only, the fabulous Mr. Kevin Chalfant?!!

Here’s what Joe Vana has to say:

“Kevin is joining Mecca for the new Mecca 3 album and MRF. We will be doing some material from The Storm, Kev's solo material and new Mecca as well as a few old Mecca Standbys.
The band will start rehearsing when Shannon Forrest and David Hungate get done with TOTO's tour of the USA.
This will be a once in a lifetime production as we have the whole band there....LIVE...for ONE night ONLY!!!”

MELODICROCKFEST 4 - CHANGES TO EVENT ANNOUNCED

Wednesday, July 9, 2014
Categories:
Tour News
With a heavy heart I must announce some major changes to the MelodicRock Fest 4 event.

Those that know me know that I’m an honest, straight talking person, so in keeping with that, I’m not going to BS anyone or try and spin this any other way.
The facts are that ticket sales for MRF4 have been extremely disappointing. I take full responsibility for that and will take the time to consider the various reasons for that.

I believed 100% in the line-up that was presented to all, giving die-hard fans the opportunity to see many names otherwise not possible. But, it just hasn’t been a good enough response to allow the festival to go on as announced. As stated, I take full, humble responsibility for that.

I know there are some that will delight in this news and have a field day with it. Let their response to the news reveal their true character.
I will use this test of my character to make an impossible situation workable as best as humanly possible.

The idea of cancelling this event outright was not an option in my mind. That would have been the easier option I’m sure, but with many booked to travel I could never do that. Instead  I’d rather try and salvage an event worthy of keeping the MRF name and spirit.
I have spent several days talking with artists, the venue and everyone involved and believe that we have a plan to move forward with. It’s a plan that keeps the integrity of the original event and I think still delivers in the face of adversity.

The event is now planned to be 2 full days instead of 3. With great regret, the Sunday portion on the weekend must be cancelled and several bands removed from the line-up. Friday and Saturday will be longer to compensate.

I'm extremely sorry to have to bring this news to you. To lose one band from the event hurts, but several for this reason really stings.

At the same time as all this has been going on, there has been ongoing problems with the all-star project Lost Angeles. To put it simply, that project is no longer and therefore they will not appear at the event. See below for a statement from Eric Ragno.

But all is not lost, Eric will still be at the event with Stan Bush and Talon and we’ve decided to bring the marvellous Gary Moon along for the ride, so he could pop up just about anywhere all weekend.

I originally planned for The Poodles to swap from Sunday to Saturday, which they wanted to do, but a prior gig booking in Sweden will prevent that from happening. It is with deep sadness that the guys declare that despite attempts to change that booking, they cannot make MRF.

The 100% double-confirmed and definite revised line-up for the 2-day MRF4 event will be:

Friday
7th Heaven
Stan Bush
Work Of Art
Adriangale
Johnny Lima
Grand Design
Maxx Explosion
Madman's Lullaby
The Radio Sun

Saturday
Heat
Mitch Malloy
Heaven’s Edge
Mecca+
Guardian
Tango Down
Paul Laine
Bombay Black
House Of Shakira
Talon

Sadly also removed from the event are: LRS, Degreed, Shooting Star, Crossing Rubicon, Loud Lion and Romeo Riot. All artists have been very understanding and supportive and I thank them for being a part of the original event.

Ticketing Changes:
With the MRF weekend now missing a Sunday schedule, a number of changes have been made to ticketing.

All current ticket holders have been emailed and offered full refunds if so desired.

GA tickets which were priced at $65 will now be reduced to just $20. Those with tickets for Sunday can get a full refund or use their ticket for either Friday or Saturday or both days if so desired.

No further 3-day tickets and VIP Passes are being sold. Those holding those tickets have been emailed with information on some additional perks.

To everyone that has purchased tickets this event is taking place because of YOU.

I am hugely disappointed that a greater number of people haven’t seen MRF in the same light as myself and those involved in the show and those with tickets already.
This is a tough blow to deal with, but once again I thank those that do support MR.com, MRR, the artists, this crazy business and this show and other MRF events in the past.

Eric Ragno: “We received word tonight that due to scheduling and family medical issues, both Paul Sabu & Jesse Damon will be unable to perform at the Melodic Rock Fest.  I'm genuinely stunned - we had our first rehearsal scheduled for this week, we locked down a great drummer and the set list was just finalized.  Sadly, it's not meant to be.
I've played every MR Fest and several Firefests (usually with multiple acts), and I know what a disappointment it is when a band has to withdraw.  I've never experienced it this way until now, and honestly it just sucks.  On behalf of the band I offer my sincerest apologies to all of you, and especially to Andrew.  Lost Angeles was assembled specifically for the Melodic Rock Fest, where we planned to release our debut.  No Fest = No Lost Angeles.  Sorry gang...we gave it a good shot.
I would like to give special kudos to Gary Moon (Night Ranger) for stepping in and putting forth all of his positive energy - he's an incredible talent and a great friend, and I know that will continue on.  Gary was especially excited to be performing for all of you, and we will have to make that happen next time around.
That being said, I look forward to seeing you all at MRF where I will still be performing with Stan Bush, and my friends in Talon.  Come rock with us, won't you?”

Any questions or enquiries, let me know anytime.

Thanks as always,
Andrew.
