BLASTED TO STATIC is a incredible new band from the US and Australia made up of seasoned and established musical virtuosos.

Headed up by the incendiary Jeff Martin, vocalist for US metal legends Racer X who has fronted the band throughout their entire 9 album discography and who has influenced an entire genre of guitar players, Jeff continues to display his incredible vocal range with Blasted To Static.

Joined by Australian fret-melting guitar wizard Stu "The Hammer" Marshall (Death Dealer / Empires of Eden / Dungeon), the duo's goal was to bring back high octane vocals combined with riffing mayhem and outstanding guitar shredding to the masses.

The rhythm section is held down by the tornado like talent of bassist Rev Jones (Steelheart / Michael Schenker Group / Leslie West / Gundriver) and Australian session demigod drummer Clay T. who lay it hard and heavy providing a massive musical groove for the band.

Blasted To Static represents an uncompromising and intense odyssey from veterans of the metal scene. But for all the high-octane, hook-laden riffing mayhem, the band’s versatility also encompasses acoustic elements and more subtle, understated interludes. “We’re embracing an organic approach with this band,” says guitarist Stu Marshall. “Don’t expect music from a single genre - Blasted To Sttatic is all about full artistic freedom, so you might even hear echoes of Black Sabbath or Queen.”

With a deafening roar of amplified power, Blasted To Static deliver a cutting-edge musical offering that is both refreshingly new, and also one that re-imagines the hallmarks of 80’s guitar histrionics and pyrotechnics, coming down as a category 5 sonic hurricane that will blow the speakers off your stereo.

Founding Member Of Toto Steps Out On His Own For The First Time
With Someday / Somehow Due Out On June 10

April 7, 2016 – A founding member of the Grammy award winning rock band Toto, Steve Porcaro will release his first ever solo album, Someday / Somehow, on June 10.

Porcaro’s first album has actually been in the making since 1983.  With “Back To You” first being worked on by Toto in 83’ and “More Than I Can Take” being the most recent track he finished.

“I’ve always been writing and recording over the years, hoping to find homes for these songs with other artists,” Porcaro remarked.  “Lately, I've been reminded repeatedly how short life is, and I think it’s finally sinking in and with the encouragement of my band, family and fans, I decided it was time to remove my excuses, throw down, let go and finish these songs the way I hear them.”

The album features Porcaro on lead vocals for seven tracks and Michael McDonald on “Swing Street,” and “Night Of Our Own.”  Jamie Kimmett on “She’s So Shy,” and “Face Of A Girl,” Michael Sherwood on “Make Up” and Mabvuto Carpenter on “Painting By Numbers.”  Longtime collaborator Marc Bonilla along with fellow current Toto colleagues Steve Lukather, Lenny Castro and Shannon Forrest make appearances on the album as well.

The thirteen track album, features material Porcaro has been tinkering with for quite some time.  “Back To You” was originally recorded with Toto back in 1983, however Porcaro never got around to finishing it himself until last year.  It’s the song he wrote for his then girlfriend Rosanna Arquette. The track features both of Steve’s departed brothers: Jeff and Mike.

The first single from the album, “Ready Or Not” is quite personal to Porcaro.

“Ready Or Not was written for my kids,” Porcaro adds.  “The first verse describes the day my oldest, Heather was born, but the song's a love letter to all my kids, and to anyone who travels with kids at home.”

An American keyboardist, songwriter and composer Porcaro written or co-authored music on each of Toto's first six albums, with the exception of Isolation and most recently, performed on the band's highly acclaimed 2015 album Toto XIV, also co-writing and singing lead on “The Little Things” and “Bend” which is featured on the Japan edition of that release. Porcaro continues to perform in Toto continues to play to sold-out audiences in Europe, US and Japan.

Also known for his prolific session work, Steve co-wrote “Human Nature” on Michael Jackson’s Grammy-winning album Thriller, solidifying his individual mark on the music industry.  A sought-after session musician, Steve has worked extensively with music producer icons Quincy Jones and David Foster and many of music’s most successful artists including Don Henley, YES, Elton John, Boz Scaggs and many others.  Highly respected for his film and television scores, Steve composed the music for the award-winning FX show Justified, starring Timothy Olyphant.

Steve Porcaro’s touring career began at the age of 17 with Gary Wright, in support of Wright’s hit album, The Dream Weaver and then with Boz Scaggs along with the other original members of Toto, prior to that band’s 1977 inception.   Steve’s older brothers, Mike Porcaro (bassist) and Jeff Porcaro (drummer), also members of Toto were highly respected session musicians and their father Joe Porcaro is regarded was one of the world’s most influential session percussionists and educators.  In 2010, Steve toured with Toto when the decision was made to reform the band in support of his brother Mike, during Mike’s lengthy battle with ALS.

Along with his work on “Human Nature”, Steve Porcaro performed other Thriller tracks including “Beat It” and “The Girl Is Mine” and composed the song “For All Time”, which was included on the Thriller “25th Anniversary” EditionA testament to his compositional influence, “Human Nature” has been covered and/or sampled by many artists including Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, SWV, Nas, and Chris Brown.

JOE LYNN TURNER Talks to Rockpages

Rockpages.gr has conducted a video Interview with Joe Lynn Turner where he covers all current topics: http://rockpages.gr/en/interviews/item/3607-joe-lynn-turner

Some extracts from the transcript:

About focusing on his solo original material: "I just did some live gigs in Scandinavia and we were doing “Endlessly” and things like that and I plan here’s the big thing: I plan to change the whole program. After I get off touring this year I am changing the whole program. I am going all original. I am going all my stuff! I don’t even know if I’d play Rainbow. I don’t think so. But, people always want to hear “I Surrender”, they always wanna hear “Can’t Let You Go”, “Stone Cold” you can’t get away from it. And I think it’s terrible when artists have a hit with their solo songs and they refuse to play them. They get tired of it. Of course we get tired of it, but you must play it for the fans! They are the important ones! So, I will definitely change the whole program to all original stuff. When I say “original” I mean anything that I’ve co-written, or wrote. So, it will be the “Rescue You” album, it will be Malmsteen stuff although I do Malmsteen live, just more Joe Lynn Turner than anything. I’d be getting a lot of requests and a lot of negative feedback sometimes from people saying: “oh, why don’t you do your own solo songs”. Okay! I’ve got more than 60 albums. It’s very difficult to choose"

About his new project: "I am currently writing for another project of mine that is pretty secret and I can’t divulge too much about it now, with a very famous Swedish producer and it’s going to change my sound completely. Which is really interesting to me, because I think it’s time for me to be born again in a way and I have so much material, so I’ve been busy writing with this producer and recording some things. We are at the beginning stages."

About Rainbow's reunion: "I think Dougie said it best to me, he said: “you know Joe, it’s not Rainbow unless they do an album and a tour”. And I said “I have to agree with you Dougie”. Because, that’s the truth you know until you can write the songs, make some sense out of it all, do some great gigs, add to the name “Rainbow” otherwiise our legacy, whether it’s Ronnie, God bless him, or Graham, or myself, or even Dougie, comes down in stature. Because, then anybody can be in Rainbow like this."

About his idea of a Rainbow reunion: "I was talking to Carol Stevens, the management, over a year and a few months no kidding! Everyone called my delusional that I believed Ritchie would ever rock again. Everyone called me this, that I got a lot of crap in the press. I am pretty sick of that by the way, because you are a bunch of idiots, if you don’t realize that! She didn’t want to go along with a multi-million dollar deal I’ve set up with UMG, Universal Music Group, if you don’t know what that is, Rockfuel media for an HD, 3D DVD, who just went to No.1 with the Axl Rose “Appetite For Democracy” DVD, so it’s great people, okay? We were going to have re-packaging of our box sets etc, and I was talking to Rick Franks over to Live Nation who wanted to put us on the biggest festivals. And to my surprise, to my shock I found out he didn’t want to do it Why? I will never know. I have my suspicions and I’ve read a lot of fans comments on their suspicions, and some of them I think are correct. But, I really don’t know why."

Lead Singer Ron Young adds, "It’s called “Brutally Honest” because there are no overdubs, “clean ups” or fixes to alter what musically occurred that night.

Live music is a unique interaction. It’s an energy exchange between the players and the listeners. This album captures that exchange. It captures a moment in time where our adoration for the power of music, with all its subtle imperfections, combined with a welcoming audience, create an experience that will never occur again. We hope you enjoy it and we hope to get to enjoy a similar exchange with you… in person,…so that we can get to make great music with you all. Without you, your love of music and your support of Little Caesar, we would never get the gift of that cherished exchange.”

Coda is a new British/American outfit, destined to be regarded by the few that hear it, as an opportunity lost. I don’t like to stereotype, after all, with rock n roll anything is possible any time, so you must have an open mind.
That said, seeing the name Vince O’Regan in the production credits brings me out in cold sweat as my ears slowly retract into my head in an act of self-preservation.

And while I once worshipped at the altar of all things Sabu, vocalist Paul Sabu has long since passed his best and now resides in a raspy, gravely realm along with several other legends I won’t name here.
Coda also features CJ Curse on bass and Eric Ragno on keyboards plus Andy Pierce on drums.

And while I wanted to be proved wrong, sadly I’m not. Coda is another production death statistic O’Regan can add to his long, long list of (dis)credits – Alibi, Pulse, Legion, Eden, Bob Catley and Escape.
Loud and in your face (did I mention loud?) does not make a good production and as expected, this is another huge sonic mess, with bass parts so loud my speakers threatened to walk out; tinny guitars and badly mixed vocals; plus is Eric Ragno even on here? I can hardly hear his keyboard parts beyond a couple of background fills and some organ in Heat On Ice. The mix is that bad.

Vocally Paul does his best, but the voice is unrecognizable from the days of Only Child and it's at times painful to listen to.
Song quality isn’t much better. Land Of The Free and Use It Or Lose It are appalling and Den Of Thieves and One Way Love just sound like a mess, almost unlistenable.
Elsewhere most other tracks just blend into each other. There’s little light and shade here. The only track that holds any interest is One Friend To Another.

Not surprisingly, this is a huge mess and will really struggle to sell. Vince O’Regan needs a producer and Z Records needs a winner. Neither appear to be forthcoming and certainly aren’t on display for this debut album. I’ll be surprised if there’s a sequel.
