Glitter, the band’s sophomore effort and the logical sequel to their debut Saigon Kissis now ready to be launched to an unexpected crowd!
So, what can one expect from the Stockholm rockers? The first single, entitled Devil May Care was written for the band by singer Ola Salo of the Swedish pop/rock-phenomenon The Ark. With Devil May Care, this little Adam Ant-scented pop song is no exception.
The album is produced by Rikard Löfgren with Gustav Ydenius handling the recording duties at Leon Music Studios (Mustasch, Sparzanza, Sister Sin).
“We are super stoked about the new album. It’s full of hits! If you think that our previous album lacked heaviness you won’t be disappointed. We went in with full force this time around and the producers were involved in a whole new way compared to “Saigon Kiss”. The fact that we have gained experience and become a tighter band, definitely shows”. – Heavy Tiger
And thanks to their involvement in TUI's new TV commercial and the success of the song "Let The Sunshine In" (in writing at top 10 on ITunes Scandinavia Rock section) Heavy Tiger is at the moment receiving a great deal of attention as well as a lot of new fans.
While it might come in handy to mention Suzi Quatro, KISS, The New York Dolls or any other glam rock-act peaking in the seventies in the same breath as Heavy Tiger, the band isn’t about nostalgia. Something completely different came out since that faithful day in 2010 when Maja, Astrid and Sara, only being 17 at the time, started jamming out together.
Heavy Tiger - Glitter is set for release March 24 on Wild Kingdom records.
Acetate Records proudly announces the addition of legendary Los Angeles band JUNKYARD to our roster! Junkyard was dirtier and blusier than most of their counterparts back in the day, combining equal parts Southern rock, boogie-woogie and self-destruction heard in their hits “Hollywood” and “Simple Man”.
Their first album for Acetate is in the works and will be released in early 2017!
In the meantime, you can check out their latest single “Faded” here:
JUDAS PRIEST 10TH STUDIO ALBUM TURBO REMASTERED AS 3 CD REISSUE
TO BE RELEASED FEBRUARY 3RD 2017
British metal legends Judas Priest announce the reissue of their 10th studio album, Turbo.
The album has been remastered and will be released via Sony Music on February 3rd, 2017 on 3 CD (the original album and 2 bonus discs) as well as 1LP 150g vinyl.
Originally released in 1986, Turbo features all the hallmarks of classic Priest on tracks such as “Turbo Loverâ€, “Parental Guidance†and “Locked Inâ€.
Included on disc 2 and 3 of the CD reissue is, previously unreleased, ‘Live in Kansas City’, a live recording from the band’s 1986 Fuel For Life tour in support of Turbo.
The band add “The 80’s is considered to have been the best decade for heavy metal – Judas Priest roared through it and at the half way point went into unchartered territory with ‘Turbo’. Always believing that metal should have no boundaries, Priest challenged themselves taking on board new technical inventions to create fresh ideas and push their sound forward. The combined songs show another side of Priest’s range of creativity that captures a theme and energy infused with the over the top sensibilities of that era. The ‘Fuel For Life’ tour certainly encapsulated the decadence of the times! ‘Turbo’ remastered and accompanied by a pedal to the metal live recording from Kansas reveals Priest on high octane – Raising fists and devil horns to the next level.â€
Reviews: I've done less this year than any other time since I started MR. Bad bad man. To correct this I need to wrap up everything I've missed this year. The only way to do that is to do them all at once, briefly. I'll do as many as I can, getting straight to The Bottom Line verdict.
MelodicRock Records: Some changes coming up. Some fantastic titles that build on what has been the label's best year to date. Stand by for a preview this week.
Some aspects of the distribution model have to change. Impossible to make a return if left to the old model of doing things.
Get ready for something no other label has yet offered or tried.
MR: Site will be updated all next week and then take a Christmas break. Any breaking news will be shared on Facebook and Twitter and possibly at MR also.
MelodicRockFest: Stay tuned...these things take time. Mainly because of dealing with agents and management. Artists's are easy, when you're forced to involve the upper level, it always gets complicated!
MelodicRockFest Australia 2: It's possible...depending on artist availability in required time frames.
Tasmania! Saturday February 11 - a night of melodic rock right here in Hobart. Details announced next week.
That all folks. Thanks for the support this year. I think we can all agree that 2016 can kiss our asses and good riddance to it.
Thankfully there was still some great music to help and I'll be working on making sure I cover everything in the reviews and EOY wrap up, just to be sure you haven't missed anything.
In this episode, bassist Pat Badger of EXTREME discusess the band's recent Pornograffitti Live 25: Metal Meltdown CD/DVD, his thoughts on singer Gary Cherone joining Van Halen, did the band consider replacing guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, former manager Ray Danniels, making a new album, alpaca farming and more.
Quotes from the interview:
New music (time 4.15): "We have been demoing and writing stuff for the last few years. There's a little box of treasures there waiting to be recorded for real."
Rush/Van Halen/ Extreme manager Ray Danniels (time 11.21): "Ray is a tremendous guy. He was in the trenches with Rush from their beginnings. He was like the fourth member. When he took on Extreme, the band was kind of struggling a little bit. It was bad timing when Ray took over."
Nuno Bettencourt in the '90s (time 13.07): "There was a disappointment when Nuno wanted to leave the band. Gary & I were saying to him, 'Get it out of your system. Go make Schizophonic, but don't break up the band. We'll be here. Come back and we'll do another Extreme album, but at the time his heart wasn't in it. He just said, 'I want to go pursue this solo career.' What can you say? It's like a girl breaking up with you."
"So, at the time, Gary and I were in conversations about 'what are we going to do?' Are we going to call it quits? Should we see if there's another guitar player? Plenty of bands have had replacements."
On singer Gary Cherone joining Van Halen (time 14.33): "I was supportive of Gary. I remember being on the phone with him - I'm helping him decipher David Lee Roth lyrics to Panama. I remember sitting on my porch saying, 'Pistons popping. Be no stopping now.' And he's like, 'That's what he's saying?"

SOTO, formed in 2014, is the dream band created when Jeff Scott Soto realized how much he missed the ‘heavier side’ of his career after fronting artists Yngwie Malmsteen, Talisman, Journey and even his own solo albums. The band hope to continue its construction as a driving force in today’s Hard Rock & Metal scene.
Jeff recently commented on the future of the SOTO brand:
As mentioned a few months ago, SOTO parted ways with our label & after much deliberation, we have decided to forge ahead independently as we continue to bring you new music into the future.
I’m not divulging anything new on how the music business has dramatically changed so much the past years…but we decided to change with it and our plan starts with YOU in mind later this week.
As a gift to you all for the holidays, we have recorded our own heavy version of the incredible Michael Jackson song ‘Give In To Me’ and are giving it to you FREE as a digital download!
There is an accompanying video being pieced together by the talented Brian Z, younger brother of David, who directed and produced the ‘Unblame’ video for us that we’re hoping coincides with this new track.
From there, we will be releasing for purchase a new song digitally, about every month, once we return from the upcoming tour instead of the traditional long play CD. This not only allows us the time to work on songs individually but gives us a chance to put the quality behind each track instead of cramming to create an entire album in one go.
We’re mixing and mastering the giveaway now as I write this, info on where and how to get it will be widespread & easy to find…we think you’re gonna dig it!!! JSS
