DAN REED NETWORK Sign To Frontiers For New Album

Release Year:
2016

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to welcome Dan Reed Network to its roster of artists.

The band has recently reunited for a string of shows in the UK and Europe and will release the their highly anticipated, brand new album, FIGHT ANOTHER DAY in early summer 2016.

Formed originally in Portland, Oregon, the band began packing out local clubs from late 1984 through 1986 with their infectious mixture of hard rock, funk and soul. After releasing their EP 'Breathless' and having a top ten single on local radio, 'Steal Me', DRN signed to Polygram/Mercury Records. In the winter of 1987, the group released their self-titled debut album which was produced by Bruce Fairbairn (Bon Jovi, Aerosmith) and engineered/mixed by Mike Fraser in Vancouver, Canada. The first single, 'Ritual' peaked at number 38 on the US Billboard Charts and became a staple of what became known as the 'Funk Rock' genre.

The debut album received a wealth of positive reviews, not the least of which was a four-star write-up from the notoriously hard-to-please Rolling Stone Magazine. DRN went over to Europe to support the album and had legendary performances at the Marquee Club in London and the The Melody Club in Stockholm, which are still talked about to this day. While attending the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame + Museum induction ceremony in January 1989 in New York, Dan Reed met up with producer Nile Rodgers (Duran Duran, Madonna, David Bowie) which led to the creation of the second album 'Slam'. Produced by Rodgers, it better represented the Dan Reed Network's live sound and accelerated the band's growing status in Europe. Dan Reed Network opened the European leg of Bon Jovi's 'New Jersey Tour' in 1989 and The Rolling Stones' European 'Urban Jungle Tour' in 1990.

The Dan Reed Network's third album 'The Heat', produced by Bruce Fairbairn in 1991, was their biggest success in the UK, mostly due to the single 'Lover' which was accompanied by a live video from Wembley Stadium filmed when they opened for the Stones. Despite some success and disillusioned with the record business and all it's trappings, the band eventually disbanded, much to the dismay of their supporters around the globe.

Fast forward to the 21st century and Dan Reed Network played their 25th anniversary reunion show on New Years Eve 2012 in their home town of Portland, Oregon, with all the original band members: Dan Reed, Dan Pred, Brion James, Melvin Brannon II and Blake Sakamoto. The members found it was incredibly fun being back together and consequently DRN decided it was a good time to bring the band and the music back to Europe and performed three sold out shows in Stockholm at Debaser, outside of London at the Enchanted Festival and at the Diamond Rock Club in Northern Ireland in 2013. DRN was then invited to play at England's Download Festival 2014 and then toured the UK again and Sweden in late 2015. The new album will be released right before the summer concert season which will see DRM appear, among others, at the prestigious Sweden Rock Festival in early June 2016.

Dan Reed says: 'It's been 25 years since our last studio album 'The Heat' was released, and to be honest, I never envisioned making another DRN album despite countless people throughout the world encouraging us to do so. But with a mixture of fate and a collective of trusted friends and supporters in the business coming to the table, I am excited to say we are poised to release a brand new record entitled 'Fight Another Day' in 2016 on Frontiers, home of many artists that we in fact admired back when we were first hitting the scene and before. Finally the stars aligned perfectly to have it all come together and make this album, and to have Derek Shulman, who originally singed DRN to Polygram in 1987, once again being in our lives as our co-manager and A&R man, brings us full circle. As for the sound and approach of the album the band and I thought it would be a great experiment and interesting challenge to revisit what endeared the band to so many back in the day and deliver a rock record with funk and soul elements, strong melodies, but this time around incorporate even edgier lyrics while not losing sight that this release needed to be uplifting, infectious, and most of all, powerful when performed live. The title 'Fight Another Day' represents the fact that after 25 years we were able to gravitate back to the passion we discovered playing together all those years ago, and battle once more!'

Frontiers' President Serafino Perugino states: 'Dan Reed Network have been one of the 'unsung heroes' of their age. Some of their records, particularly 'Slam' include some of the finest melodic rock ever. I salute and welcome them to the label and I am genuinely excited to release their new music to the world.'

Both band and label are now looking forward to the world's response to this new labor of love, and this testament to the bonds of friendship and musical chemistry!

SOTO, featuring vocalist Jeff Scott Soto, have completed their second studio album, Divak, out April 1 via earMUSIC.

Divak (pronounced "dee-vock") comes shortly after the band's debut release Inside the Vertigo. It's a mere 15 months later, partly due to singer Jeff Scott Soto's insistence on continuing to create and build a true brand for his new venture.

Once again, the album is produced by Jeff Scott Soto and drummer Edu Cominato. It was mixed by long time JSS engineer/associate John Ellis, as well.

The band features Soto on vocals; Cominato on drums; lead guitarist Jorge Salan; bassist David Z; and keyboardist/guitarist BJ. They are heavily featured on Divak, with their writing contributions together.

The first single "FreakShow" was co-produced/written by Tony Dickinson, who also co-wrote "The Fall," which was the first single from Inside the Vertigo. The track is an extension of the SOTO sound created especially for this new band.

SOTO will debut live in February 2016 with a string of East Coast U.S. dates, leading into the annual Monsters of Rock Cruise (East), alongside Steve Vai, Extreme, Queensryche, and countless headliners.

SOTO, formed in 2014, are the dream band created when Jeff Scott Soto realized how much he missed the "heavier side" of his career after fronting artists like Yngwie Malmsteen, Talisman, and Journey, and even his own solo albums. The band hopes to continue its role as a driving force in today's current hard rock and metal scene.

SANTANA Announce Long Awaited 'Santana 4' Album for April

Artist:

LAS VEGASJan. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- April 15, 2016 marks the release date of Santana IV, the wildly anticipated studio album that reunites the revered early '70s lineup of guitar icon Carlos Santana (guitar, vocals), Gregg Rolie (keyboards, lead vocals), Neal Schon (guitar, vocals), Michael Carabello (percussion) and Michael Shrieve (drums). The album signifies the first time in 45 years – since 1971's multi-platinum classic Santana III – that the quintet has recorded together.
Santana IV features 16 all-new tracks written and produced by the band that burst with the same unparalleled energy and superlative musicianship that made Santana a pioneering force in world music and a household name across the globe. Joining the core Santana IV band in the studio are current Santana members Karl Perazzo (percussion) and Benny Rietveld (bass), with the legendary vocalistRonald Isley guesting on two cuts.
The origins for the reunion go back several years, when Schon suggested that he and Carlos Santana record together. Santana liked the idea but went one better, proposing that they recruit Rolie, Shrieve and Carabello for what would be called Santana IV. After initial writing sessions and rehearsals took place in 2013, the group recorded throughout 2014 and 2015, amassing 16 spellbinding tracks that combined all their signature elements – Afro-Latin rhythms, soaring vocals, electrifying blues-psychedelic guitar solos, and irrepressibly jubilant percussion work – with widescreen hooks and melodies that will lodge themselves in the thicket of listeners' senses and stay there.
"It was magical," Santana says. "We didn't have to try to force the vibe – it was immense. From there, we then needed to come up with a balance of songs and jams that people would immediately identify as Santana."
The band's signature sound arrives forcefully on the album opener "Yambu," a righteously gritty and soulful stomper teeming with swirling B3 organ hooks and walloping guitar crunch.
The first single, "Anywhere You Want to Go," is destined to storm the pantheon of Santana classics. Written by Gregg Rolie, it's a sexy, body-shaking winner and an unmistakable tip of the hat to the inescapable cha-cha/Latin jazz charms of "Oye Como Va."
Ronald Isley (The Isley Brothers) is a special guest on two tracks. His vocals highlight the feverishly impassioned Latin-rock workout "Love Makes the World Go Round" and the hard-edged and funky "Freedom in Your Mind." Guitar fans expecting fireworks from Santana and Schon will cherish Santana IV from front to back. "All Aboard" is a no-holds-barred guitar jam of the highest order, as is the slinky, soulful metal cruncher "Caminando," which explodes with tectonic axe force. And on the unabashedly British blues-tinged "Shake It," the two go toe to toe on not one but two extended solo runs that will have lovers of unhinged fretboard work rejoicing.
"Carlos and I feel more connected than ever," says Schon. "We get super-aggressive when we play, but also melodic and poetic. We have an incredible dialog with each other on our guitars."
Santana's recurring themes of love and tolerance are common threads throughout Santana IV, most dramatically on the epic tone poem album closer "Forgiveness," a languid and breathtakingly gorgeous atmospheric groover.
Music fans familiar with the "roaring lion" artwork on Santana's 1969 debut album will instantly greet Heather Griffin-Vine's graphic forSantana IV as a gloriously realized update of that iconic image. "I really think the music goes along with the cover, and vice versa," says Santana. "It all fits together beautifully."
Few bands can pick up a musical dialog after 45 years apart, but on Santana IV each band member reaches a new level of virtuosity and communal intuition on a collection of songs that easily stands side-by-side with the group's treasured early work.
"When you can go back and break new ground with joy and determination – and  some whoop-ass energy – it gets you going," says Santana. "I think we achieved something very rare. This music was screaming to come out of us. It wasn't about nostalgia. It was about passion."
Santana IV will be released on April 15, 2016, on Santana IV Records and is distributed by Thirty Tigers/RED Distribution. It will be available for pre-order on Amazon. For the CD click here, and for the LP click here. The album will be CD, Double 180 Gram Vinyl with Download Card and Digital configurations.
As a special offer for fans attending select shows on Santana's upcoming Luminosity tour, a CD copy of SANTANA IV is included with every pair of tickets.  This offer will be redeemed via a promo code at MusicRedemptions.com.
