Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to present the debut single from Finnish AOR hopefuls THE NIGHTS entitled “Welcome to the Show.”
The song is lifted off the band’s Self Titled debut album which will see the light of day August 2.
THE NIGHTS is a new band formed in the summer of 2015 by Sami Hyde (vocals) and Ilkka Wirtanen (guitar). Both Sami and Ilkka have successful careers in music, in Finland and abroad. Sami has been a singer for many acts and projects, including the Tony Mills Band (SHY, TNT) in 2008 which also included Geoff Nichols (Black Sabbath) on keyboards and Neil Hibbs (SHY) on guitar. He has also written songs for many artists, including The Magnificent ("If It Takes All Night", "Lost", and "Drive"). Ilkka Wirtanen is best known for his work as a producer with international acts like glam metal band Reckless Love, for whom he has produced four albums and co-written many of their popular songs, including "Hot" and "Night On Fire". He has also produced several other rock bands (Baton Rogue Morgue, Hellcity Punks) and worked as a mixer for international acts (S.E.X. Department).
THE NIGHTS was formed because Sami and Ilkka felt a common need to write songs that “make you feel good and also give tribute to our everlasting heroes in music, for example TNT and Yngwie Malmsteen.” Frontiers interest was piqued by their songs featuring a superb mixture of classic pop melodies and modern melodic rock/metal production and the band was signed!
New CHEAP TRICK Album 'We're All Alright!' due June 16.
"Y'know, we always write, but it's more fun to write for a project and write for a reason," guitarist Rick Nielsen tells Billboard. "We have a company (Big Machine Records) that believes in us and they like the work and they're letting us make more records, which is cool. Making records is one of the ambitions we've always had. I don't think the desire has ever gone away."
Cheap Trick recorded We're All Alright! -- whose title, of course, references the 1978 hit "Surrender" and 1999's "That '70s Song" -- with Julian Raymond, who also helmed Bang, Zoom, Crazy...Hello. Its 10 tracks (13 on the deluxe edition) hail from the group's past and present, with older, previously unrecorded songs such as "Radio Lover," "Lolita" and "She's Alright" sitting alongside material written and recorded specifically for the album.
"Long Time Coming," a crunchy hard rocker driven by a Kinks-flavored riff, is a bit of a one-song tribute to Cheap Trick's influential forebears. "It's our interpretation of Slade and MC5 and AC/DC and Aerosmith -- a lot of riffs that are reminiscent of the Move, but they're not steals," Nielsen says. "It's just, like, all the bands we like." The song also features a synthesizer underbelly that was a signature in "Surrender," "Dream Police" and other Cheap Trick songs.
Nielsen, meanwhile, says another new album in 2018 is a distinct possibility. "Starting in May we're going back in the studio," he says. "There's stuff around and there's some ideas that never did get fleshed out, which we hope to. It's exciting."
We're All Alright! will be available for pre-order starting May 5, with "Long Time Coming" and "Lolita" as instant grat tracks. Both songs are available now for individual purchase, and the group will offer more early purchase perks via a PleadgeMusic campaign. Meanwhile, Cheap Trick will be promoting the album with a summer tour with Foreigner and John Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience; Foreigner and Cheap Trick will both be celebrating 40th anniversaries, Cheap Trick for the release of its first two albums in 1977.
The full track list for We're All Alright! features:

Gianluca Firmo (Room Experience) signs deal with Street Symphonies Records for debut solo release
Street Symphonies Records is very proud to announce the signing of Room Experience's mastermind Gianluca Firmo, for the release of his eponymous solo debut album.
Recordings are actually taking place at the Atomic Stuff Recording Studio (Isorella, Italy) under the technical supervision of Oscar Burato, with production duties handled by Gianluca himself.
Gianluca says: "Many of the songs I wrote (and I write) can't be included in Room Experience albums, because not all the shades of melodic rock fit that kind of record. Beside that, I love singing, but my voice is not made for very high notes. Considering all this, I thought to pick some of my songs from those I love the most, and try to make a straight and forward melodic rock record, but less oriented in style."
The tracks of the album will be all mixed by Oscar Burato, while mastering will be completed by renowned sound engineer Roberto Priori (Danger Zone, Wheels Of Fire, Raintimes). A release date announcement is expected in early 2018.
Legendary London trio ROCK GODDESS have released a music video for "It's more than Rock and Roll", the song is the title track of the forthcoming EP, which is set to be released on May 19th, 2017. Digital distribution via Cargo Records and physical EP CDs, with a 4 page booklet in a jewel case by ROCK GODDESS directly. The first 500 copies will be signed and numbered. The video can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/KbE4H8_vyuU
All songs by Jody Turner. Engineered and recorded by Santiago Morales at Alaska studios, London. Mixed by Wes Maebe at Sonic Cuisine. Mastered by Wes Maebe at Sound Discs. Produced by Jody Turner. Photograph by Tina Korhonen.
Well, it’s only taken them 30 years, but finally the original, classic ROCK GODDESS trio have released new product. Except that we should NOT see this three-track EP as a follow-up to the self-titled, debut album put out in 1983. Oh no, this is a complete affirmation that Jody Turner (guitar/vocals), Tracey Lamb (bass) and Julie Turner (drums) are fully relevant to the hard rock scene in 2017. So, if you are nestling down for a comfortable trip into the borough of Nostalgia, South London, then you had better be prepared to have this notion scrambled, and then served up with music that has a huge taste for contemporary aptitude and attitude.
In the early 1980s, ROCK GODDESS made a reputation for delivering songs with full frontal riffs, snapping rhythms and snappy melodies. That hasn’t altered. Since the three reunited in 2013, they’ve proven to be an energised, committed live band not reliant on past glories, but hell bent on the pursuit of an even more electrifying future.
Of course, in those formative years, the three went out to establish themselves by taking the best influences and twisting these to suit their talents. Now, though, they have a heritage to live up to. And do it with the confidence, craftsmanship and charisma of a band who know their considerable worth.
The EP is called ‘It’s More Than Rock And Roll‘, which is a statement of how committed the three are to their cause. Jody Turner wrote all the songs and also produced them, with Wes Maebe mixing and mastering the record. And the man has previously worked with a fine array of talents, including Roger Waters, Sir Tim Rice, The Buzzcocks and Beverley Knight. It’s obvious what ROCK GODDESS have done in the studio is take their sharply honed instincts, using these to let rip with a clear-sighted, rousing momentum. ‘It’s More Than Rock And Roll‘ itself is a mid-paced roaster that has genuine depth, yet a chant-a-long chorus to get everyone on their feet. The lyrics betray the Goddess‘ complete immersion in the passion of this genre.
‘Back Off‘ sees the band locked into an assaulting groove, one full of a spirit born from that essential, yet so often elusive balance between virtuosity and aggression.
‘We’re All Metal‘ not only namechecks iconic artists across metal and rock’s past and present, but is an anthem for all ages. From six to 96, it’ll get everyone pumping out the horn sign!
This is ROCK GODDESS 2017, still thankfully linked to the way they were in 1983, but taking it on to a fresh level.
“It’s been a long time coming, but we got there,” says Jody. “We are so proud of this, and of each other. We hope people enjoy it as much as we want them to.” Jody, Tracey, Julie proud to be loud!

STYX IS READY FOR TAKEOFF WITH THEIR FIRST STUDIO ALBUM IN 14 YEARS, ‘THE MISSION,’ DUE OUT JUNE 16 ON ALPHA DOG 2T/UMe
Friday, April 21 -- Welcome one and all to THE MISSION, STYX’s sonically sweet 16th studio album and its most ambitious, most challenging, and most rewarding release to date. Please take note of the official stardate, as THE MISSION has duly been set for liftoff June 16 on the band’s label, Alpha Dog 2T/UMe. Fans can pre-order the album at any of these online retail outlets and Styxworld.com.
The first single, “Gone Gone Gone,” was released today at radio and online retail outlets. A video premiered on Billboard.com and can be seen here.
“The planets truly aligned for THE MISSION, and I couldn’t be prouder,” says vocalist/guitarist Tommy Shaw, who co-wrote the album’s storyline with longtime collaborator Will Evankovich (Shaw/Blades, The Guess Who). “It’s our boldest, most emblematic album since PIECES OF EIGHT.”
As founding guitarist James “JY” Young continues, “In the 40th anniversary year of our release of our biggest selling album of all time, GRAND ILLUSION, it just seemed truly appropriate to save our new studio album until this year. Needless to say, I’m very excited.”
“THE MISSION is a deep, conceptual, and cinematic epic that offers listeners a thrilling emotional journey — and all ‘cast’ with impassioned guitar parts and those textured, ‘chill-inducing’ Styx vocals. Guitarists Tommy Shaw and James Young sound like they’re energetic upstarts with something to prove, rather than members of a band with decades of history. This is a truly brilliant soundscape, as well as a tribute to the evocative power of the guitar.” — Michael Molenda, Editor-in-Chief, Guitar Player
“A throwback to the styles of classic Styx records like THE GRAND ILLUSIONand PIECES OF EIGHT, THE MISSION is a wonderful mix of knotty, '70s-era progressive rock madness alongside the melodic power pop the band does so well. Todd Sucherman might be the baby of the group, but he’s an old soul when it comes to finding the right flavor for the new material—and he’s not shy to provide a healthy slab of blazing hand technique, elevating parts to a whole other level of excitement.”
-- Ilya Stemkovsky, Modern Drummer
“Styx have really delivered a welcome addition to their catalog with the arrival of THE MISSION, which wraps in all of the important elements of their much loved classic sound, with a wealth of big hooks, anthemic choruses and most importantly, an album’s worth of really good Styx music.”

Indeed, THE MISSION is an aurally adventurous 43-minute thrill ride that chronicles the trials, tribulations, and ultimate triumphs of the first manned mission to Mars in the year 2033. From the hopeful drive of “Gone Gone Gone” to the stargazing machinations of “Locomotive” to the rough-riding blaze of glory that permeates the hard-charging “Red Storm” to the elegiac optimism of the closing track “Mission to Mars,” the album succeeds in delivering the greater good from a band that continues to fire on all cylinders, 45 years after signing its first recording contract.
In fact, THE MISSION--which was recorded over a two-year period at Blackbird Studios, The Shop, and 6 Studio Amontillado in Nashville--displays the best aspects of the ongoing in-harmony musical intersection of the six-man STYX team: the aforementioned guitarist/vocalist Tommy Shaw, co-founding guitarist/vocalist James “JY” Young, keyboardist/vocalist Lawrence Gowan, original bassist Chuck Panozzo, drummer/percussionist Todd Sucherman, and bassist Ricky Phillips.
The new music was created to reflect the viewpoint of the six-person crew enlisted for the maiden voyage of Khedive, the first entry in a new fleet of nuclear-powered interplanetary spacecraft underwritten by the Global Space Exploration Program (or GSEP, for short). The Khedive team consists of The Pilot, a fully hands-on, seat-of-the-pants born leader; a First Officer who serves as the team’s big-brother figure; an Engineer who is skeptical of every phase of the mission but remains confident in his own abilities to make the best of any technical situation; and a Top-Shelf Trio of science, astrophysics, and survivalist experts.
“The album feels simultaneously comfortable and new,” observes Gowan. “It’s both entertaining and charming, and a natural progression of our sound.” Concludes Panozzo, “THE MISSION is a sincere and honest representation of how STYX built upon where we were in the 20th century in order to go somewhere new in the 21st century.” And that’s the gist of THE MISSION, STYX’s bold sonic voyage into an exciting new frontier with the goal of discovering how the universe’s mysteries unfold—and then creating the perfect soundtrack to accompany it.

After a three-months rest, Cornerstone are back with their second single from the longplayer "Reflections": the song "Northern Light" was released on 03/31 and was mixed and mastered, like the whole album, by Harry Hess (SIMPLE PLAN, MUSE, BILLY TALENT) in Canada. The video for the song, which has been shooted the same time like the first single "Last Night", was produced by the well-proven filmteam THE COCKPIT and director Christian Enzmueller. "Northern Light" is already available as download on iTunes and in all other online-shops.
REVOLUTION SAINTS head into the studio next week in Italy to start the recording of their highly anticipated second record with producer Alessandro Del Vecchio, who also produced the debut album.
Deen Castronovo (ex Journey, Bad English), Doug Aldrich (The Dead Daisies, ex Whitesnake/David Coverdale, Ronnie James Dio), and Jack Blades (Night Ranger, Damn Yankees) will record a scorching set of songs written by Doug and Alessandro between the end of 2016 and early 2017.
In between recording sessions, Revolution Saints will make their official live debut at the Frontiers Rock Festival in Trezzo (Milan, Italy) where they will be performing a setlist of songs from their first album, plus a few surprises! The band hopes to do more shows to promote the forthcoming album, which is currently set for a release in early October.
Along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, Deep Purple are credited by many as the third jewel in the British hard rock crown. At the suggestion of their accountant, Deep Purple would look to save some money by recording their 1972 album Machine Head outside of the UK tax jurisdiction and in the quiet resort town of Montreux, Switzerland.
The events that transpired before and during the recording of Machine Head are legendary, immortalized in the band’s iconic song “Smoke On The Water” which details the massive fire that destroyed the venue where Deep Purple were set to record. Singer Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover share with IN THE STUDIO host Redbeard the story that has become Rock and Roll folklore, resulting in Deep Purple leaving Switzerland with a career-defining album.
“We have always had a kind of aversion to recording studios, for various reasons. We are not very good studio workers. We We are quite naive about studio technique and technology. We concentrated very much on the music.” - Ian Gillan
“It (Montreux) was a very small sleepy town in the early Seventies. It was the place you retired to. And we’re lookioking for somewhere we can make a lot of noise in the middle of the night. That’s a pretty tall order.” - Roger Glover
I've spent most of this week without a computer - hence the lack of updates.
I've also been forced to re-do a lot of work due to both my main and backup drives getting corrupted in my failing PC a few weeks back. So it really put me under a lot of stress and fitter behind than ever.
Right now I won't be back in business until sometime over this Easter weekend, so with most people busy, I'll take the next few days as an opportunity to get new system up and running and take stock of what has been a frantic start to the year.
Lots of problems unfortunately - some of which come from rushing to meet deadlines and attempting to catch up on too many things (reviews for one...).
With a clearer focus on things, I'll be back to deliver what everyone wants from MR and more.
One last small issue with Arti Tisi release - being a bonehead, I forgot completely about the Easter break, so I have to push the shipping date back one week (April 26).
Jimmy Davis should be fine to remain on target for May 19.
The MelodicRock Records title for June is one more from the vault which I'll announce after the break. It's a monster and it's been one of those releases that just seems to have been too hard to get a result from. But the wait is almost over!
And to confuse those guessing, we've managed to turn a 10 track album into a double CD!
There hasn't been much said about MelodicRockFest 5 - mainly due to a delay in detailed responses from a couple of artists and also the USA venue. But I'm confident that will also be resolved fully over the next week, so we can move that into full forward!
For those eager to book vacation time, the USA event is May 4-5-6 and Sweden will be 25-26-27.
Some truly great artists lining up to take part. I just need to make sure the budget works and we can fit into both weekends, the best possible artists that you may not otherwise see elsewhere.
I've signed 3 new artists this week for albums on MelodicRock Records which will come out over the coming months. Lots of great music there and a couple of seriously heavy albums alongside some melodic rock gold.
Plus I have a list of vault titles a page long that I'm determined to continue chasing. Lots of music to come.
Thanks to all for your patience and my apologies for a haphazard start to the year.
Finally - because of these PC problems, I haven't been able to cover the sad passing of some more notable rock n rollers.
I'd like to pay tribute to J Geils and former Autograph drummer Keni Richards as well as Eric Cook (Demolition Records). May they all rest in peace.

Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release of DGM’s first live album, entitled “Passing Stages”, on June 2.
DGM’s last album (their eighth), “The Passage” was released in August 2016 and marked the culmination of almost 20 years of hard work that started back in 1997 and has pushed the Italian band into the elite rankings of the international progressive metal scene. Over the years, DGM has managed to tour the world, taking part in some of the biggest and most celebrated metal festivals around the globe and sharing the stage with the likes of Heaven and Hell, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Avantasia, Scorpions, and many others.
With a bulletproof line-up comprised of producer/guitarist Simone Mularoni, singer Marco Basile, bassist Andrea Arcangeli, drummer Fabio Costantino, and keyboardist Emanuele Casali, DGM can now share their awesome musicianship and songwriting skills with all audiences via the release of this truly beautiful live release!
“Passing Stages” is the best possible illustration of what DGM are capable of on a stage these days,” says Simone Mularoni. “We put our hearts and souls into the making this one and managed to capture magical nights that we'll remember forever. In our career, "Passing Stages" will be a milestone in our discography and a great conclusion of the first decade of this line-up. Here’s to the future.”
Herein are captured two separate performances for fans to enjoy via audio on CD and MP3 and visually via DVD or Blu-Ray. The first show is the entire performance held in front of the inaugural Frontiers Metal Festival, in Trezzo Sull’Adda (Milano) on October 30, 2016 and has a set-list centered around the latest album, “The Passage.” “We wanted to show to the whole world how great the Italian fans are and how much we love to play in our home country, and we had the best occasion with the first edition of Frontiers Metal Festival,” continues Simone. “With our last album, "The Passage,” I think we managed to reach an even bigger crowd and that particular day was really one of a kind...the best Italian live club, packed with fans, together with a lot of friends and a gig focused on the last album.”
The second show captured sees the band in action at the ProgPower USA in Atlanta, GA on September 11, 2014. The setlist shows an emphasis on the albums “Frame” and “Momentum”. “Our second time at ProgPower USA was an important step of the "Momentum" tour and filming that evening was mandatory,” explains Simone. “We felt the warmth of the crowd, we worked with fabulous technicians and with one of the best crews ever. The atmosphere pervading the Center Stage in Atlanta is unique and we did our best to honor this awesome festival with a performance at the top of our abilities. I'm pretty sure that whoever watches the concert will feel like being right in front of the stage singing with us.”
This is an unmissable opportunity to witness the superb qualities of the Italian quintet in the live environment and also opens the door to newer fans (of which there are quite a few) to experience their excellent and older repertoire.
The melodic metal band PYRAMAZE just released a lyric video for the track "Kingdom of Solace" from their highly anticipated new album "Contingent". The album will be released on April 28th in Europe and North America through Inner Wound Recordings.
Link to the lyric video:
With their milestone fifth album "Contingent," Pyramaze have grown and matured into a band that is capable of satisfying their fans while simultaneously continuing to break new ground. The incorporation of modern cinematic film score elements mixed with progressive metal riffs and melodies will leave the listener breathless! Huge, sweeping, hard-hitting, and poignant, "Contingent" is an epic post-apocalyptic conceptual piece inspired by current events, the human spirit to overcome struggle and diversity, and the brotherhood that lies there in. Produced, mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen [Volbeat, Amaranthe, Epica, Evergrey].
"Divided by oceans, bound together by brotherhood, we must become that which divides us.... we are PYRAMAZE, and we are the Ocean!"
Hardline singer Johnny Gioeli will be the special guest at the sixth edition of the festival “Art is...” in Montana, Bulgaria. The event will be held on the second of June, and Gioeli will hit the stage in the company of musicians from local rock band Eridan. Support groups are youth rock bands. “Art is...” is a charity fundraising festival which raises money for a children’s charity. The audience will have the opportunity to hear live some of the greatest hits of AXEL Rudi Pell and HARDLINE. There will be some surprises!
The motto of this year is "Art is ... to love yourself the way you are" - one of the highlights will be a special meeting between the children of DTSDVU, talented children from the town and Johnny Gioeli. Says Gioeli “there can be no greater joy than knowing your music makes a difference in people’s lives, and I am thrilled not only to perform for the wonderful fans in Bulgaria, but especially to be able to spend some time with these kids. “
More details and ticketing links to be released soon.
