With "#EIGHT" the Swiss rock band SIDEBURN release their literal eighth album following musical contributions to several Hollywood productions in the past like "Wolverine" (Six Feet Under), the show "24" and the trailer to the movie "Hit & Run" with Bradley Cooper.

In recent years, they supported bands like Kiss, Def Leppard, Dio, Motörhead, Ted Nugent, Airborne, Gotthard, Doro and Uriah Heep on stage. The band proved to be firmly established as a live band at the three-hour event "ADIDAS Rockstar" in 2012 for which they even produced the song "Rockstar" on special request by ADIDAS.

Following the departure of singer Seann Nicols from Quiet Riot, both Frontiers Music Srl and band leader Frankie Banali have made the joint decision to delay the release of the new Quiet Riot album, “Road Rage” until later this summer.

Both the band and label feel that in order to truly represent Quiet Riot’s lineup, new lead singer James Durbin should be the vocalist on “Road Rage.” In order to execute that plan and promote the album accordingly, and with the full support of the label, the band will go back into the studio and record the album with Durbin on vocals to ensure that they deliver the album that Quiet Riot fans have been patiently waiting for and truly deserve.

Regarding the critically important decision to re-record with new Quiet Riot vocalist James Durbin, Banali said, “After careful consideration, with the support of Frontiers and understanding the appeals from Quiet Riot fans to have our vocalist James Durbin represented on the new Quiet Riot release, we have made the decision to move forward and have James replace all the vocals on “Road Rage” with new lyrics and melodies for a summer 2017 release. Stay tuned!”

While the new Quiet Riot album will be slightly delayed as a result of the re-recording process, the Quiet Riot faithful can rest assured that the resulting album will be well worth the brief wait.

Famously known as the first heavy metal band to top the pop charts, the Los Angeles quartet became a global sensation thanks to their monstrous smash hit 1983 album, “Metal Health.” The band now continues their historic journey in 2017 with founding member of the 1983 Metal Health era of QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali, veteran bassist Chuck Wright (who has been in and out of QUIET RIOT since 1982) and guitarist Alex Grossi (who has been handling his duties since 2004).

LOVERBOY 'Stop The Rain' Fan Video Winner

When LOVERBOY fan David Napolillo first heard the band's new single, "Stop the Rain," and decided to enter the contest to make the best official video for the song, he interpreted the title in a very unique way.

"I knew the most obvious theme would be lots of rain, but I didn't want to do what other entries might do," he explained. "So, instead of using the literal image of rain, I had aliens 'raining down' on Earth in search of this awesome band they recently discovered."

That unusual approach was enough to make his video the winning entry in the contest on LOVERBOY's website, with the auteur receiving a black Fender Squire guitar autographed by the entire band. His clip is now the official music video for the single, which can be downloaded for free on the LOVERBOY site (www.loverboyband.com), and is available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Tunecore and Deezer, among others. The new official fan-made video for "Stop the Rain" can be seen HERE.

The band's guitarist, Paul Dean, who helped spearhead the contest, was impressed with all the results, but was most pleased with Napolillo's winner. "My bucket list always contained my wish that we, as a species, would contact extraterrestrials in my lifetime," he said. "Well, wish granted. Congratulations to David Napolillo of Spring, TX, for abducting LOVERBOY into the 'Alien Hall of Fame' "

"Stop the Rain" represents the latest previously unreleased Loverboy song following the country-flavored "Hurtin'" and "Some Like It Hot" - described by Paul Dean as "the first and only shuffle LOVERBOY has ever done" -- last year. Doug Johnson wrote "Stop the Rain," explaining it was inspired by living in Vancouver, where there is plenty of precipitation, but no known sighting of extraterrestrials.

Said Johnson: "I loved David's interpretation. It just goes to show how a song can work on any number of different levels."

LOVERBOY continues to work, not just for the weekend but every day of the week, offering a free download of their brand new single, "Stop the Rain," as well as the opportunity for their fans to produce their own video for the track, with the winning entry earning a black Fender Squire guitar (seen below) autographed by the entire band. The single is now online (February 9) at the Loverboy website (www.loverboyband.com), where it can be downloaded for free, then will be available tomorrow, February 10, for streaming at all major sites, including Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Tunecore and Deezer, among others.

The video entries can be submitted by e-mail to loverboymusicofficial@gmail.com and shared on Facebook tagging Loverboy. The deadline is February 24, after which the contest will be closed. The band will announce the winner, which will then become the official YouTube video for the song.

"Stop the Rain" represents the latest previously unreleased Loverboy song following last year's, "Some Like It Hot."

Doug Johnson, who wrote the new song, says it was inspired by living in Vancouver. "The wet weather was the original inspiration, but on a deeper level it's about perseverance and hope," says the band's longtime keyboardist. "I hope it inspires some excellent contest entries."

"It's the kind of hopeful song I could never write before, about seeing the light at the end of the tunnel... Mike really sings the sh*t out of it."

Added Reno about the single: "Coming from a city like Vancouver, 'stop the rain' means... 'stop the rain.'"

The band is hoping the guitar giveaway motivates the fans to put their best filmmaking foot forward.

"We're excited to see who makes the best video for the song," says Paul Dean. "We've seen a few of our songs get the fan 'treatment' over the years, but this is the first time we've had a contest. Just download the song from our website and happy editing!"

Loverboy's almost four-decade-long career began in Calgary when vocalist Mike Reno was introduced to local guitar legend Paul Dean, with the two eventually joined by keyboardist Doug Johnson, drummer Matt Frenette and bassist Kenneth "Spider" Sinnaeve, who replaced the late founding member Scott Smith in 2000.

LINNEA WIKSTRÖM Forms QFT, Signs With Despotz Records

Swedish vocalist Linnéa Vikström, best known as one of the vocalists in Therion, has signed a worldwide deal with Despotz Records.

Leanna says, "I’m really excited to be working together with Despotz and with their help I’ll be sure to present some fantastic music to the world! Just the fact that Despotz is willing to release an album recorded completely live shows how willing they are to break new grounds and think outside of the box. Linnea will work with her solo project under the secret name of QFT. The debut album will be released November of 2017, with the first, as yet untitled, single hitting the streets in May.

RICHIE KOTZEN tossed convention on its ear by actually taking one step back in order to move two steps forward. “It’s something I really needed to do in order to reset myself,” he explains.

Kotzen’s “charge to recharge” was officially put into play following the mega-success of the 2015–16 tour behind his band The Winery Dogs’ sophomore effort, the oh-so-appropriately named HOT STREAK. And the man’s reset manifesto wound up hitting all the right buttons too. The proof is on display deep within the grooves of SALTING EARTH, which veers from the balls-out, heads-up declaration of the opening track and first single, “End of Earth,” to the burning-sky harmonic thrust of “Thunder” to the Prince-like funk-jazz swing of “This Is Life” to the acoustified take-me-as-I-am self-reflection of the album’s final song, “Grammy.”

The majority of SALTING EARTH is the result of KOTZEN’s one-man production machine, with the exception of Julia Lage adding background vocals to “Make It Easy,” a tasty, sing-along groove stew. “It’s really not deliberate when the record is finished and suddenly I’m the only performer on it,” Kotzen admits. “It actually comes out of my process of writing and documenting my ideas. It started back in the late-’80s when I had a makeshift studio in my parents’ barn. I grew up fairly isolated, and I soon realized in order to get this music out of my head and onto a format where I could listen to it, I’d have to figure out how to do it alone.”

KOTZEN’s previous solo release, 2015’s diverse, far-reaching CANNIBALS, was a well-received hit among his core fan base, and SALTING EARTH cuts like the aforementioned “End of Earth,” “Thunder,” and “Divine Power” all showcase the scorching guitar solos and soaring vocals that one would expect from a KOTZEN solo album. That said, there’s also quite a vulnerable side on display here that’s perhaps best demonstrated in the stripped-down approach to the album’s closing salvo, “Grammy.”

RIP Y&T's JOEY ALVES

Two posts today from Dave Meniketti:

It’s with great sadness that I write this today. Y&T's original rhythm guitarist, Joey Alves, passed away at 7:10 this morning at the age of 63. He suffered from ulcerative colitis and other complications that led to his passing. Joey was one of the finest rock rhythm guitarists, and I’ll always remember playing next to him chunking out those monster chords with his classic red double cutaway ‘59 Les Paul Jr. As Ronnie Montrose once said about Joey, “There are rhythm players, then there's Joey. A class of his own.....”.

He was a fun guy who always played with attitude and conviction, and was responsible for writing some memorable riffs for Y&T over the years. His friendship and presence will be missed. This is a great loss for all the Y&T family and faithful. He now joins Phil and Leonard in rock and roll heaven.

I saw this clip of Joey 2 days ago when I was reviewing part of the documentary. Seeing Joey on the screen while knowing he was not long for this earth was a shock to me at first, but hearing what he said in this clip really touched me. What he said is so right and I wanted to share this with deep respect for my friend. Thank you Mark and Geoff for putting this together for me.

MelodicRock Records is immensely proud and excited to be partnering with American musician Jimmy Davis to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Jimmy Davis & Junction's debut album 'Kick The Wall'. Working with Jimmy over the past several months, MRR will chronicle the complete history of JD&J recordings and bring that to the fans, remastered from original master sources.

MelodicRock Records and Jimmy Davis will reissue the debut album 'Kick The Wall', freshly remastered by JK Northrup along with a very special bonus. The release will feature a second disc featuring a rare live concert, 'Live At The Bottom Line', as broadcast by Westwood One in 1987.

Jimmy Davis on that debut: "In the early 80s, I met John Scott. We were put together in a theme park show replacing my favorite local bluegrass band turned rock and roll band that featured fiddle, mandolin, guitar whiz Tommy Burroughs. I was already writing and wanted to incorporate all of my influences in one band like they did. But somewhere around 1985 I wrote 'Kick the Wall' and demoed it at John's home demo studio. We knew we were on to something. We started getting noticed and joined up with a new studio in Memphis, Sounds Unreel. The studio started in our soon to be manager, Jon Hornyak's house. But they grew into a full on 24 track studio. Our hero Jack Holder and Don C Smith all took us in and we stared recording what became the debut album."

But that's not all! A conversation that started well over a year ago will result in the long desired official release of one of the best unreleased melodic rock albums ever. We're talking about the phenomenal shelved sophomore Jimmy Davis & Junction album 'Going The Distance'. It's a melodic rock masterpiece.

You could be forgiven for never hearing about this album previously, or even be entirely unaware of Jimmy Davis and his talents as a singer, guitarist and songwriter. It's never too late to discover a masterpiece. And that's exactly what these albums represent. An extremely talented band at their very best, another victim of record label machinations.

Jimmy on the 'lost' album: "We starred on the second record in Memphis and ended up doing 4 or 5 songs in LA with Danny Kortchmar with Chad on drums. It took a long time and we had amazing quests, Warren Hayes co-wrote and played, Kevin Dukes from Jackson Browne's band and the Memphis Horns... But things were changing going into the 90s. Grunge for one. I was tired and frustrated, nothing made sense. We made the record for three different label presidents and it was time for a change. I wanted to do what is now called Americana. I simply walked away and 'Going the Distance' was shelved."

No one knows how the original recording of 'Going The Distance' leaked, probably from one of the original advance cassette that Chrysalis Records sent out when the album was touted for release back in 1990.

But that would explain the less than perfect audio that has been heavily traded by collectors ever since.

And if that's you - wait until you hear this record remastered from the original tapes!

The power, passion and performances on 'Going The Distance' are nothing short of melodic rock perfection.

Mixing the rootsy, natural live Midwestern rock n roll style with the commercial melodic rock sound of the day is a brilliant combination.

Imagine Bryan Adams in his 'Into The Fire' style or John Mellencamp during his 'Scarecrow' period. Add in some Charlie Sexton, John Kilzer, Richie Sambora (solo) and Jimmy's own unique style and you get an amazing record that I personally would have had on regular rotation over the last two decades had the release gone according to plan.

Using previously unseen original artwork for both albums - including using the original cover Jimmy wanted for 'Kick The Wall' - this is an essential purchase for longtime Jimmy Davis fans. And there is no doubt that Jimmy is going to attract a whole new group of followers with these albums available soon.

I feel as if when delivering an unfavourable review, I need to preface it with my qualifications to do so, before someone starts the “oh he just doesn’t like that artist/style it’s too soft/heavy/bluesy.”

So with that in mind, I love Great White and I own every album from start to last plus Jack’s own previous solo material. His debut solo was great! And for the most part, I like them all.

And this lives up to none of them. I’ve tried several times to re-start fresh with this album and each time I’ve failed.

Could it be that on just the second track in Jack breaks into a fricken rap in the middle of this horrible jangly, bluesy pop track that was beyond annoying even before the vocal acrobats. And he’s almost at it again on Crazy, which is only slightly less annoying.

Opening with Sign Of The Times, it’s pretty evident this is going to be a laid back affair and sure enough…its more laid back than a sunbaking lizard.

The songs just bore me I’m sorry to say. And there is precious little comparison to that of Great White, even with Jack’s (sometimes) recognizable voice.

The performances are very pedestrian, I don’t rate the band here at all and the songs are devoid of any passion or energy. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any slower, along comes the crawling ballad Anything For You.

This highlights the very problem here – I am a huge fan of the slow Great White ballads like Save Your Love and She Only. Soul and passion in spades.

Another slow blues/reggae type number is the instantly skippable Don’t Let Me Go, then there’s more jangly guitars on Spy Vs Spy. What’s with the awful guitar playing here?

Blame It On The Night is about the only track besides the opening number that delivers a proper riff and while you are still celebrating that fact, the a capella Godspeed will send you panicking for the stop button. What a steaming pile of cow shit this song is.

Most of this album can be filed under “WTF”, and the parts that aren’t are devoid of passion, energy and conviction. It’s such a laid back boring album and without having any great expectations, my hopes are completely shattered.

Awful record….and I never thought this would happen, but the music is even worse than the cover artwork!

Warrant was one of the most popular and successful rock bands to emerge out of Hollywood, CA in the late 80's and early 90's. The band was formed in the early 80's by Erik Turner and Jerry Dixon. In 1989, Warrant released their classic debut “Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich”, which immediately entered the charts and launched the hit singles “Down Boys,” “Sometimes She Cries”, and “Heaven”, which climbed up to number two on the US charts. With extensive touring for DRFSR, sales exceeded 2 million records in the U.S.

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of Snakecharmer’s sophomore album, “Second Skin” on May 12.

The British hard rock supergroup Snakecharmer was originally founded in 2011 by former Whitesnake/David Coverdale members Micky Moody and Neil Murray along with the perfect mix of high calibre musicians including Laurie Wisefield (Wishbone Ash), Harry James (Thunder, Magnum), Adam Wakeman (Ozzy Osbourne), and Chris Ousey (Heartland).

The band’s debut self-titled album was released in 2013 and musically the record showed a finely crafted hard rock style mixed with blues and melodic overtones, akin to Micky and Neil's former band and Bad Company, with hints of early Foreigner as well.

Snakecharmer played live shows regularly in support of the album’s release and built a solid fanbase in the UK and Europe. In 2016, Moody left the band and was replaced by the Irish-born Simon McBride on lead guitar. Simon was hailed “among the best blues-rock players anywhere in the world” by Guitarist Magazine and has built up an impressive resume playing with outstanding rock, soul, and blues artists.

“Second Skin” is the hotly anticipated second effort from Snakecharmer and brings the listener straight back to the good old days of real rock n' roll played with heart and soul. Slightly harder edged compared to the debut, but with roots still firmly planted in the classic hard rock vibe with a hint of late '70s AOR, this new record sounds fresh and crisp.

Bassist Neil Murray says “It’s been a rather long journey, but finally I’m very pleased to announce that Snakecharmer are soon to release our new album, Second Skin. The band has now found its own unique musical identity and in particular Laurie Wisefield and Chris Ousey have contributed some very powerful and melodic songs, which still have the Snakecharmer blues-rock distinctive trademarks. The band works in a very democratic and collaborative way, which means that sometimes there is a lot of discussion before decisions are finally made, and it was great to have a more objective viewpoint from producer Gary Stevenson, who also fired the band up with his ideas, enthusiasm and sonic skills. You’d have to be almost dead not to get caught up in the infectious fun that is Tokyo Motor Fist. The name might conjure up thoughts of an ancient form of Japanese bondage, but at least they didn’t name themselves Trixter Danger.

Yes, the most talented Steve Brown (Trixter, Guitar) and the always flamboyant Ted Poley (Danger Danger, vocals) team with the rhythm section of Greg Smith (Ted Nugent, Rainbow, Alice Cooper) and Chuck Burgi (Rainbow, Blue Oyster Cult, Joe Lynn Turner) for what amounts to a meeting of the New Jersey chapter of the Melodic Rock Mafia, to create an infectious slice of classic 80s melodic rock that you just have to rock along with.

While the album may not have the polish of a major 80s budget, it does pass the crankability test and shines when at maximum volume.

Following his great recent solo album, Ted Poley again delivers a powerhouse vocal while Steve Brown provides the backbone of the sound, his soulful guitar playing filling the air between hooks and choruses. The album is also a tribute to his songwriting prowess.

For the most part this delivers exactly what you’d expect – a mix of modern day Trixter’s smart melodic rock and Danger Danger’s hands in the air party anthems.

Look no further than the opening salvo of Pickin' Up The Pieces, Love Me Insane, ~~Gimme Your Good Lovin~~ Shameless and Black And Blue to deliver plus the moody feel good ballads Love, Get You Off My Mind and Don’t Let Me Go work to balance the record and provide breathing space between the rockers.

You're My Revolution brings out the double kick drums for a rousing tempo boost, but its Put Me To Shame and Done To Me where Steve Brown’s connection to Def Leppard seems to get dialled up. For a minute I thought I was listening to Sweden’s Leppard loving Grand Design.

How could fans of the two principle artists not be happy with this? It delivers exactly what you might have been hoping for, perhaps exceeding expectations with the strong hooks and great performances.

No complaints here and given the positive fan reaction so far, one would have to think that this will develop further just as the ‘other’ D2 side project The Definants has.

Los Angeles, CA --- Multi-Grammy Award winning band TOTO has announced the first set of dates for their Summer U.S. tour, which will begin on June 2nd in Lake Charles, LA. The shows are billed as "An Evening With Toto” and their performances will feature repertoire for their latest studio album XIV, classic hits, and both band and fan favorites from their vast catalog in performances that will stage two hours of music. Last summer, Toto embarked their first U.S. headline run in over a decade.

The core Toto members, Steve Lukather, David Paich, Steve Porcaro, Joseph Williams will be joined by Lenny Castro (percussion), Shannon Forest (drums), Shem von Schroeck (bass), Warren Ham (saxophone, vocals). Guitarist Steve Lukather shares, “We had such a great time last summer that we wanted to regroup and hit some cities we didn’t get to last time. Always a thrill to bring our full show around the country.”

Few ensembles in the history of recorded music have individually or collectively had a larger imprint on pop culture than the members of Toto. As individuals, the band members can be heard on an astonishing 5000 albums that together amass a sales history of a half a billion albums. Amongst these recordings, NARAS applauded the performances with more than 200 Grammy nominations and were inducted in to the Musicians Hall Of Fame in 2009.

CAGE Announce European Tour Dates

CAGE will perform an extended set each night with songs from all 7 of their award winning albums including their latest concept record ANCIENT EVIL. The band will be rotating songs throughout the tour so each night will be a different and unique show. CAGE will also hold a free meet and greet after every performance as they have done their entire career.

Rapidly becoming THE band of the melodic hard rock scene, Eclipse’s decision to ramp up touring and recording dates back to the 2012 release Bleed & Scream, when the band tweaked their sound and found their true heavier groove.

The last record Armageddonize was a home run – a perfect mix of power, melody, energy and ear candy songs that just stuck in your heads for literally days at a time.

So how do you follow that up? By doing it all again. Eclipse make it look easy by delivering another 11 cracking songs wrapped in a massive wall of sound that these guys are now recognized by.

Momumentum is the perfect title for this record. If anything, it takes off exactly where Armageddonize left off, which in turn took up where Bleed & Scream left off. So the momentum continues and I have no hesitation whatsoever to claim this album is every bit as good as the last classic.

Erik Martensson continues to grow as a frontman, writer and a vocalist, not to mention his role as a producer. And he needs extra credit here for the mix, for this album is sonic perfection to my ears. Each listen reveals new parts to the puzzle and the sound is so crystal clear, it’s impossible to play this album too loud.

The rhythm section of Magnus Ulfstedt and new drummer Philip Crusner combine to make this album the most bombastic yet. Crusner’s drumming is quite a revelation.

And last but never least, Magnus Henriksson’s guitar riffs and solo shredding is easily his best to date.

There’s no question over the quality of the songs. I’m just not sure how the guys manage to come up with so many that deliver the Eclipse sound with such immense power and intensity, yet remain memorable in their own right.

And just like the last album, these new songs are continually stuck in my head. The CD hasn’t left my car in 3 months and I’m literally singing along to whatever song was playing at the time I reach my destination.

As per is the Eclipse tradition, the opening trio of perfect anthemic hard rock songs just kick my ass and then kick it again; Downfall Of Eden has that epic feel similar to The Storm; Hurt is a wonderful power ballad that enhances its power by not kicking in quite when expected. For Better Or Worse and No Way Back are classic Eclipse melodic rockers while Black Rain is perhaps the band’s heaviest song to date – even with its mid-tempo beat.

Absolute melodic hard rock perfection – second time around and the band’s fourth great record in succession. There’s only further to go for these guys as they continue to take on the world one hard rock fan at a time.

Immense production, intensity matched by very few and glorious anthemic songs from start to finish. I knew the guys would have to dig deep to come close to Armageddonize, but they did it.

Nothing more to say. Brilliant... Again.

FRONTIERS MUSIC SRL is thrilled to welcome AMMUNITION to the label. Ammunition was founded in 2014 by the songwriting duo Age Sten Nilsen (former WIG WAM) and the multi-talented Erik Mårtensson (Eclipse (Sweden), W.E.T music, Nordic Union).

AMMUNITION released their stellar debut album "Shanghaied" in 2015 on their own label. Teaming up with former TNT and Jack In The Box bassist Victor Cito Borge, keysman Lasse Finbråten (Circus Maximus, ex-Wig Wam), skinsman Maguns Ulfstedt (Eclipse), and the exceptional guitar player Jon Pettersen, AMMUNITION has made a name for themselves as an incredible live act. AMMUNITION is currently mixing their second album titled "AMMUNITION" due for release late summer 2017 through Frontiers Music Srl.

The first taste of what's to come, "Wrecking Crew" (written by Nilsen and Mårtensson), has already landed on the Norwegian charts, taking AMMUNITION to the Norwegian Eurovision grand finale. The full length, original version of the song will be included on the forthcoming album, produced and mixed by the band's guitar player and co-writer, Erik Mårtensson.
