Melodic Rock group China Sky have released a new video for their re-worked cover of the classic Greg Allman song "Dreams I'll Never See", from their latest album, "China Sky II."

The video was shot during recording sessions for the album, and will be the last to feature drummer Bruce Crump, who died of complications from throat cancer in March, less than a month after its release.

The new video is the second from "China Sky II", following "One Life" which was released earlier this year.

This week Producer Dave Jerden is on the show.

Dave Jerden discusses his life and career. From his early days to working with Frank Zappa, Herbie Hancock, Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones. He also discusses the creation of the Alice In Chains sound, his work with Anthrax, and the lost album by Violets Demise with Rowan Robertson and Oni Logan. He shares why he stopped making records for many years, and what brought him back.

On Rowan Robertson "I know people that don't have 100th of the talent that think they're hot shit. And Rowan is so much fucking better. And believe me, I've worked with the best guitar players in the world. I've worked with Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Pete Townsend, Adrian Belew, a lot of great guitar players. And Rowan is as good or better than all of them. I'm telling you, this guy is amazing."

THUNDERMOTHER To Release 'Road Fever' Through Sweden's Despotz Records

THUNDERMOTHER TO RELEASE 'ROAD FEVER' THROUGH SWEDEN'S DESPOTZ RECORDS

(28 July 2015 - Stockholm, SWEDEN)  There's a new female hard rock band in town and if you don't watch your back, the Swedish based quintet, Thundermother are going to be on you like roadkill as they place their smelly stamp on the rock n roll landscape everywhere they go.

Road Fever, the sophomore effort from Thundermother will hit the streets on 4 September through Despotz Records. The follow up to the critically acclaimed 'Rock N' Roll Disaster' sees the outfit treading familiar waters with their tried and true classic influenced hard rock.  Frontwoman, Clare Cunningman says, "We stuck with a sound that we all love and know will work as we have gained so many fans worldwide with this winning formula. But we hope to reach out now to a wider audience as our sound drifts towards the classic Motorhead era." Guitarist, Flippa Nassil adds pointedly, "If you like 70's rock you will appreciate what we do - I guarantee you won't be disappointed.  Rock and roll is not dead."

Formed in 2010 when guitarists, Flippa Nassil and Italian born Giorgia Carteri met with the same goals and passions - to put together and play in the ultimate rock and roll band. Several meetings and a few lineup changes later the duo hooked up with three others that share that same vision in the form of Irish singer, Clare Cunningham, bassist, Linda Strom and drummer, Tilda Stenqvist.

Releasing the well received 'Rcck N' Roll Disaster' in 2014 and hitting the Swedish national charts at #2, the band made their mark quickly. "I remember getting the call!" exclaims Cunningman. "It was a moment none of us will ever forget.  To be received so warmly on our first record was an incredible feeling and showed that this was the beginning of something big for us."

With Road Fever, Thundermother hit back even harder than before with tracks such as "Deal With the Devil" (the album's second single and the band's tribute to Lemmy), "Thunder Machine" (the band being major supporters of feminism, Cunningham got a feminist tattoo while on tour in Spain and it was performed with the Hawk Thunder Machine, hence the song title) and the album's first single,  "It's Just a Tease" ("We're female, proud of playing rock and roll and being sexy at the same time," laughs Nassil.)

The quintet headed into the studio this past May to finalize work of Road Fever, after having completed five songs in Lemon Recording Studio in Klippan (South Sweden) with Martin Ekelund.  This final batch of songs were recorded at Cobra Studios in Stockholm with main engineer Martin Ehrencrona and with the band's guitarist and founder, Filippa Nässil at the helm. The vibe of the studio suited the ladies perfectly with it's pure 70s rock'n'roll analog sound and original gear.

VOODOO HILL Feat. GLENN HUGHES & DARIO MOLLO Returns With 'Waterfall'

Artist:

After more than a decade, VOODOO HILL, the alliance between Dario Mollo and Glenn Hughes returns with a new album.
Out in October via Frontiers.

Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release of the eagerly anticipated new album from VOODOO HILL entitled “Waterfall” on October 16th in Europe and North America.

The new VOODOO HILL album – the third release from the musical alliance between Italian axeman and producer Dario Mollo and legendary former Deep Purple singer / bassist Glenn Hughes – is the culmination of a 30+ year career for Mollo as a musician, songwriter and producer. Dario Mollo’s career started in 1981 with the heavy metal band Crossbones, he continued to develop his abilities with musical giants like Tony Martin (Black Sabbath), Graham Bonnet (Rainbow, MSG), Don Airey (Rainbow, Ozzy, Deep Purple) and several others. The Voodoo Hill albums with Glenn Hughes has always marked a special milestone in Dario’s career though.

With the acclaimed first Voodoo Hill album in 2000, Dario, for the first time, had the chance to have a proper international release, while the follow up album “Wild Seed of Mother Earth” is probably the heaviest and strongest release ever from Dario. Both releases came out via the Italian label Frontiers with whom Dario has built a strong relationship during the years.

The new record came about as a result “of the most prolific and creative period I had in my entire career” tells Dario. “I wrote and recorded more than 35 song ideas in a very limited amount of time, leveraging from all the experiences I gathered as a guitar player, writer and producer. This creative phase had a further development when Dario Patti (keyboardist, bass player and orchestra arranger) came into the picture. He brought the songs a new palette of sounds and some superb arrangements. I also wanted the songs to sound as fresh as possible, trying my best to preserve the feeling of the overall performances, so I used very old school recording methods, including recording acoustic drums in rooms with natural reverb.

It was right in the middle of this creative spring that Serafino of Frontiers called me to see whether I wanted to finally work on a third Voodoo Hill album after all these years,” continues Mollo. “He said Glenn Hughes was available in principle, so the next thing I did was to choose the 11 songs which I thought suited the project the best. In comparison to the previous albums, I wanted to have Glenn more involved in the artistic decisions, so I sent him the songs before the final mixes in order to have his advices on the final result. That was a precious process that brought substantial changes, for instance on “Last Door”, where I literally changed the entire guitar riff to make it work better with the vocal melodies. In the end the song was basically rewritten and dramatically improved. It was a fabulous creative process, which I am truly confident will last more than a bunch of listening sessions and will offer a lot of enjoyment to all those will want to follow Voodoo Hill in this exciting musical venture”.

“Waterfall” is a strong and straightforward hard and heavy rock album which is equally split between aggressive and heavy moments and beautiful melodies. A stunning release which all fans of hard rock and heavy metal truly won't want to miss!

Waterfall” tracklisting includes: All That Remains; The Well; Rattle Shake Bone; Underneath And Down Below; Waterfall; Karma Go; Evil Thing; Eldorado; White Feather; Sunflower; Last Door.

2015 Debut of UK Based AOR Event 'ROCKINGHAM Festival'

Release Year:
2015

ROCKINGHAM PRESS RELEASE ~ THERE’S A NEW AOR SHERIFF IN TOWN….

A major new festival is about to land in the UK this autumn. This new endeavour is all set to deliver twenty-two bands in total, including a band that hasn’t played a gig since ’83, six that have never played in the UK, nine that have never played the proposed venue and a further three that haven't been to the UK in over a decade.

Rockingham is all set to take place at Nottingham’s Rock City over the weekend of the 24th to 26th October. Alongside Rock City, Dave Herron has booked and assembled a stellar line up of melodic rock goodness that should guarantee a healthy turnout.
Having been a fan of the genre for many years, Herron is no stranger to the world of Melodic Rock; utilising his vast experience and contacts to put together a bold and exciting line up, but that’s not all as Dave Herron explains, “you can expect a few surprise guest appearances throughout the weekend.”

\With its roots in the past, but its eyes firmly on the future, Rockingham is primed to become a permanent fixture on the UK festival circuit for the foreseeable future.

LINE UP:

FRIDAY 23rd

TOM KEIFER
As part of Cinderella, Keifer should be familiar to any self-respecting rock fan. This is his first visit to the UK as a solo artist and anticipation is high. Expect a mix of Cinderella classics and solo material.

ECLIPSE
Alongside HEAT, Eclipse is riding high as part of the new breed of AOR. If you caught them in the UK recently, then you’ll know what to expect: High-octane hard rock, delivered by a frontman who knows how to handle an audience.

ROBIN BECK
Robin’s been no stranger to these shores in recent years, bringing a series of stunning shows to the UK last year. Robin’s last album was her finest since her debut and she’s currently at the pinnacle of her career.

ROBERT TEPPER
From Rocky to Cobra and beyond. The king of soundtracks will be among many acts making their UK debut at Rockingham. With Tepper, Bush and Peterik in attendance it really will be 80’s soundtrack heaven.

ROMEO’S DAUGHTER
They are the finest female fronted AOR act the UK has ever produced. As a live act they never fail to deliver and are sure to set the bar high.

SERPENTINE
A new singer and a bold new sound, Serpentine are out to prove that this is their definitive line up. Their “Circle Of Knives” album sees them producing the goods in the studio, so expect nothing else from their live performance.

SANTA CRUZ
Loud and proud, these Finnish riff masters will be the perfect festival openers. If Skid Row and the Gunners are your kinda bands, then make sure you’re down the front for these bad boys.

SATURDAY 24th

GOTTHARD
Despite the tragic event that saw the enigmatic Steve Lee lose his life, Gotthard have kept his memory alive by doing what they do best, tearing it up live. There are a few select bands from the last few years that garner such high praise from the AOR cognoscenti, Gotthard are one of them.

DAN REED NETWORK
If ever a band deserved to be lauded from high then Portland’s finest are that act. They’ve toured with Bon Jovi and The Stones and their recent Download performance was magical. In another world they would have been huge, so get ready to mix it up some twenty-two years after they last appeared at Rock City.

JIM PETERIK
Grammy award winner Jim Peterik will be accompanied by a full live band so expect a heavily laiden Survivor set with classic songs also thrown in from JP’s 40+ year writing career , Ides Of March, 38 Special, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cheap Trick, Sammy Hagar and REO Speedwagon to name but a few.

ELECTRIC BOYS
Roll out the Funk ‘o’ metal carpet and get ready to ride it all the way back to the late eighties as Sweden’s finest exponents of the genre take to the stage. They could be the festivals silent assassins, so take nothing for granted and miss them at your peril.

LAST AUTUMN’S DREAM
They maybe a vehicle for Michael Erlandsson these days, but take nothing away from LAD as they’ve an impressive back catalogue to draw from.

VEGA
Always a popular attraction, Vega is the great white hope of the AOR world. With three CDs worth of quality material to choose from, the only problem will be picking the right set.

CARE OF NIGHT
Swedish soft rock newcomers, Care Of Night, delivered a fine debut earlier in the year, the kind that the Westcoast genre was built on. If you’ve had a heavy night after the previous evening’s entertainment, then these boys will be the perfect openers.

SUNDAY 25th

DOKKEN
Back in ‘85/6 Dokken were riding the crest of a wave over in America. Their first four albums are rightly regarded as some of the finest of the era. They’ll be the perfect end to a fabulous weekend.

DAVID GLEN ISLEY, ALAN KRIGGER and CRAIG GOLDY OF GUIFFRIA
A Guiffria less, Guiffria? Well it’s done House Of Lords no harm for the last ten years. With David Glen Isley, Alan Krigger and Craig Goldy in attendance, they’ll be sure to do you right.

VALENTINE
Ex Zinatra keyboard player Robbie Valentine makes his UK debut as a solo artist and his brand of flamboyance is sure to light up the evening.

STAN BUSH
Backed by the rock band, Bailey, Stan Bush makes a welcome return to the UK for his first visit in over a decade. You can expect a jam packed set list, one that will cover all the bases.

ROYAL HUNT
The last time Royal Hunt appeared at a UK festival they damn near stole the weekend. A pompous, bombastic approach will have them appealing to many. With DC Cooper at the helm, a good time is almost guaranteed.

AMMUNITION
Having just stolen the show at the recent Vasby Rock festival, this collaboration between Age Sten Nillsen (Wig Wam) and Erik Martensson (Eclipse) is sure to be a must watch occasion. Their new album is one of this year’s highlights, after this performance you’ll understand why.

ISSA
AORs most popular pin up girl has just released what is arguably her best album. Her recent live performances have seen her in good form; this performance should be no exception.

NO HOT ASHES
An exclusive for the Melodicrock.com readers and that’s the addition of Irelands finest to the bill. Fresh from supporting FM on their recent UK tour, No Hot Ashes will deliver a pleasant set of jaunty AOR.

I think you’ll all agree that Rockingham Festivals AOR credentials have been fully endorsed by having such an array of talent on show. Fans and ticket buyers would also be wise to watch out for announcements of official pre and after shows in the coming months via the festivals Facebook page.
Dave Herron sums up the impending weekend perfectly, “It’s gonna be one hell of a party, with plans for 2016 already taking shape.”
