GRAMMY' WINNER, ACTOR, BEST SELLING AUTHOR RICK SPRINGFIELD
TO RELEASE 18TH STUDIO ALBUM
ON FRONTIERS MUSIC SRL ON FEBRUARY 19, 2016
FIRST SINGLE, 'LIGHT THIS PARTY UP', OUT NOW
Rick Springfield is bringing new music to his fans with a brand new studio album, Rocket Science. Springfield's 18th studio album will be released globally on Frontiers Music Srl on February 19th. Yesterday, December 9, USA Today hosted the world premiere of the first song from the album, 'Light This Party Up'. The song can be enjoyed here:
With 25 million records sold, Rick Springfield has withstood the test of time far better than most critics would ever have imagined, performing nearly 100 concerts around the world every year. He has written and performed some of the best-crafted power pop anthems of the past 40 years, including 17 U.S. top 40 hits; among them, 'Don't Talk to Strangers', 'An Affair of the Heart', 'I've Done Everything for You', 'Love Somebody', and 'Human Touch', as well as the 1981 Grammy' Best Male Rock Vocal winning No. 1 single, 'Jessie's Girl'. Springfield has even more to say on his latest release, Rocket Science.
The new album features classic Springfield compositions like the crowd pumping 'Light This Party Up', the sensitive ballad 'Let Me In', the anthemic 'All Hands On Deck,' and the blues infused rocker 'Miss Mayhem', on which he collaborated with indie artist Tad Kubler of the band The Hold Steady. Rick also wrote 'Down' 'in the middle of an ice storm on a stranded tour bus'with Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus.
Springfield says 'Rocket Science is my 18th studio album. It swears a bit and doesn't respect authority, but it does look after its invalid mother. It has some of the country elements I love, but as much as I understand we should all be sucking up to Nashville, it's still a wide ranging pop/rock record. I hope you dig it!'
Frontiers Music Srl President Serafino Perugino states 'Rocket Science is the fourth album that Frontiers is releasing with Rick Springfield, the first one that also involves the US territory. It's always been a pleasure to be at Rick's service, he's a true musical legend and his albums are always top notch. Rocket Science is no exception, and once again this will be a true delight for all his fans, myself included!'
Rocket Science is a pop/country blend fused with Springfield's signature songwriting and performance style, and features much of Springfield's touring band joined by some guest players. The album was mixed by veteran Justin Niebank, who gave the project it's tight feel. Other featured players include iconic guitarist and longtime Springfield collaborator Tim Pierce, plus songwriting partner and album co-producer, Elton John bass player Matt Bissonette.
In addition to collaborating and starring in the Dave Grohl documentary 'Sound City' and penning two New York Times best selling books, Springfield played opposite Academy Award' winner Meryl Streep in Jonathan Demme's 'Ricki & The Flash', plus a multi episode arc in the HBO series 'True Detective'. He also appears opposite Orange Is The New Black's Pablo Schreiber and actress Sosie Bacon in the forthcoming film, 'Traces'.
Pre-orders for Rocket Science are available now on Apple Music/iTunes and Amazon.com. Those who pre-order the MP3 version of 'Rocket Science'' will instantly receive the first single, 'Light This Party Up', with additional tracks made available in the forthcoming weeks prior to release. As an added feature, digital versions of the album will feature a bonus track, 'Beautiful Inside'.

PA-based Rockers HitnRun Digitally Release Debut Album Worldwide on Friday, December 11, 2015
In 1991, HitnRun stormed the music scene of Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey, bringing their brand of original commercial hard rock to the masses. Now after unlocking the vaults and putting the finishing touches on their lifelong recordings, the band will release their debut album to rockers around the world.
“It’s taken a lot of hard work and patience to get to this point, but we’re really proud of this record and can’t wait for rock fans to hear it,” says HitnRun guitarist Jareth Grealish. “This album really captures our sound from the early 90s—bluesy, melodic, soulful and rocking,” he continues.
Hard work and patience have been a part of HitnRun’s musical ethic from the start. According to drummer Beckett Grealish, “Back in 1991, we were told that there was no way we could play original rock in the Scranton PA area and draw a crowd, but we proved the naysayers wrong.” With hard rocking, hook-laden songs and electrifying live performances, HitnRun quickly developed a large and dedicated following in a music scene typically dominated by cover bands.
“We focused on writing great songs and rehearsing constantly to make sure we delivered the goods every time we played live,” singer Eric Montoya proudly recalls. Together with guitarist Mark Sutorka and bassist Dan Whitman, Montoya and the Grealish brothers eventually broke into the Philadelphia music scene, opening for national recording acts Dirty Looks, Tyketto, and Widowmaker (featuring Dee Snider of Twisted Sister). Today, all of the band members remain friends and stay in touch.
The independent self-titled, 9-song album drops on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and numerous other digital music outlets Friday, December 11, 2015. Additionally, HitnRun’s music will be available from streaming audio services including Spotify, Rhapsody, Tidal, iHeartRadio, and others.

":KTONIK:", the new album from the prog band VOTUM will be released on February 26th in Europe and North America through Inner Wound Recordings.
The album was mixed by David Castillo at Ghost Ward [Katatonia, Opeth, Bloodbath] and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios [Paradise Lost, Kreator, Leprous].
VOTUM combines dark and vibrant atmosphere with metal traditions, bringing both force and ambience to play. The band is no stranger to musical diversity with subtle cinematic frailty and modern electronica. Dealing in powerful guitars and acoustic ballads VOTUM creates a very specific blend of fresh and unusual approach to progressive rock and metal.

Janne Stark, guitarist from bands such as Overdrive, Grand Design, Constancia and Locomotive Breath is back with his third tribute to the riffs of the 70s!
This time he has again taken on some unsung heroes, but also some unsung songs by well-known heroes. How about The Hunt, Cain, Diamond REO, April Wine, Kansas, Rush, Neil Merryweather, Walter Rossi, Charlee, Captain Beyond, Boomerang, Triumph and Mother's Finest?
On the new album Janne handles all rhythm guitars and bass, and shares the lead guitar duties with killer guitarists like Kee Marcello, Craig Erickson, Jay Jesse Johnsson, Hank Shermann, Michael Denner, Mike Onesko, David Angstrom and Ken Hammer, just to name a few. The vocal duties are handled by singers such as Carl Dixon, Martin J Andersen, David Angstrom, Pelle Saether, Chris Catena, Thomas Vikstrom, Roger Solander and iconic rocker Neil Merryweather. The drums are handled by Peter Hermansson and TrumPeter Svensson. (Full list of credits on the next page).
The background for Mountain of Power came about when Grooveyard Records asked Janne to record a cover album. After long discussions the concept was clear. It was to be songs Janne grew up with and that affected him and his guitar playing, plus the song should not be one that had been widely or even ever covered before. Also, just doing a straight cover was not an option. You will find hidden riffs, sneaky flirts and songs that have been merged together. It all done with the greatest love of the original and without losing the 70s feel and analogue touch (only tube amps were used for recording guitars!). This album was mixed, mastered and co-produced by Danish guitarist/singer/producer Martin J Andersen, also known from the following bands: Blindstone and Meridian.
'Martin did an outstanding job mixing and mastering the album to absolute perfection. With this many guests, recording at various studios, he's done an amazing job making it all blend perfectly together', says Janne.
In 2016 Mountain of Power is also planning to take the riffs on the road, featuring Janne, Martin and drummer/singer Peter Hermansson plus guests.

CHARLIE CALV AND CHANDLER MOGEL TALKRADIO EXILE DEBUT ALBUM, LYRICS, LED ZEP, LIFE & LAUGHTER
Decibel Geek podcast Staff Writer Adam Cox recently interviewed Charlie Calv and Chandler Mogel for a talk about their band Radio Exile's self-titled debut album, lyrics and influences, plans for the band, ideal touring packages and why we need a good laugh.
'I think we touch many different elements, a little soul, a little gospel, maybe a tiny hint of country, but all based in hard rock.'
On the Radio Exile lyrics: 'I've always written about things that are very real to me, as in real life, real situations - I find those things can best translate to the listener as well - as we all go through stuff. David Coverdale and Ronnie James Dio are two I have always favored.'
On the band's plans and doing it their own way: 'We plan on releasing another video, possibly a third and then we would at least like to do some shows, unfortunately due to everyone's touring schedules it makes it hard for us to do any proper touring so maybe some select dates.'
On bands they would like to tour with, including bands no longer around: 'My all time favorite is Led Zeppelin, so to tour or work with any of those guys would be amazing.'
On musical anecdotes: 'It's the only business where you can work your ass off and be truly good at what you do and it just does not matter'it's all about luck and timing. Like my old friend and former Shotgun Symphony bandmate Ed would say, at least we had a lot of laughs'.and that we all have.'
The Decibel Geek podcast, started in 2011, is a weekly hard rock and heavy metal music and discussion show. Covering rock and metal bands from the late 60's to today, the show features rotating themes including Year in Review, Radio Sucks Radio Show (music-based), Interviews, Fresh Blood (upcoming bands) and many more.

December 9, 2015 -- In 2015, STYX--Tommy Shaw (vocals, guitar), James 'JY' Young (guitar, vocals), Chuck Panozzo (bass), Lawrence Gowan (vocals, keyboards), Ricky Phillips (bass) and Todd Sucherman (drums)--celebrated a milestone anniversary, a national TV broadcast and another hugely successful summer tour. Time never stops for this legendary band.
They started the year with headlining tour dates of their own, as well as their first national TV broadcast in over two years, 'Live At The Orleans Arena Las Vegas,' which aired on AXS TV on Sunday, March 15. STYX's show was filmed at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV in front of a sold-out audience during last year's 'The Soundtrack of Summer' tour, which also featured Foreigner and former Eagles guitarist Don Felder. STYX performed many of their greatest hits, including 'Come Sail Away,' 'Renegade,' and 'The Grand Illusion.' They even dug deep into their catalog for such fan favorites as 'Light Up' and were joined on stage by Don Felder for 'Blue Collar Man.' Fans who were unable to watch the concert can finally catch a glimpse of 'Blue Collar Man' on STYX's newly revamped official YouTube page.
Earlier this summer, STYX joined Def Leppard and Tesla on a massive tour that spanned late June through early October in front of one critically acclaimed sold-out audience after another. Now due to overwhelming demand, Def Leppard, STYX and Tesla will commence on a three-week jaunt starting January 27 in Greensboro, NC.
More recently, in response to the horrific attacks in Paris on November 13, STYX and REO Speedwagon's Rock To The Rescue organization donated $25,000 to The Sweet Stuff Foundation to help families affected by the tragedy.
'We feel terribly saddened and outraged by these attacks,' said Styx guitarist/vocalist Tommy Shaw. 'We hope that our contribution will help ease some of the pain and some of the expenses of what this means to the families as they go through the process of grieving and bringing their loved ones home. Josh (Homme) and (Eagles of Death Metal) lost a crew member and employees of their record label, Universal, during the terrorist attacks. This hits home for us because we're also on the same label, and we deeply love our employees and our crew. Our hearts, minds, and prayers are with all the victims, and we urge all fans of Styx, Eagles of Death Metal, and classic rock who feel touched by this to join us in contributing. Thank you from everyone in the Styx family for your compassion.'
In addition to a last round of headlining tour dates that will conclude December 12 in Windsor, Ontario, STYX is ending the year on a high note. They recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of their fifth EQUINOXalbum, which was released on December 1, 1975. It was the band's first album on A&M Records, after releasing their first four albums on Wooden Nickel/RCA. Right out of the gate, EQUINOX's lead track, 'Light Up,' fused the band's best instincts for how to blend harmonies, keyboard hooks, and power chords together to memorable effect, resulting in a song that continues to grace many of Styx's live set lists today. Two other hard-driving singalong EQUINOX songs, 'Lorelei' and 'Suite Madame Blue,' are also in regular live rotation.
