It has been a decade since Escape Music released the classic 'Welcome to America' album in 2006 (ESM137) by Taz Taylor and it is a really strong album with none other than Rainbow singer Graham Bonnet on lead vocals. Three years later and 'Straight Up' was released (ESM187) with Keith Slack (MSG) taking the mike stand. The album also featured Don Airey (Rainbow / Deep Purple) on keyboards.

After these two really strong releases the Taz Taylor band  decided to go instrumental and tour dates ensued with the likes of Ace Frehley, L A Guns, Molly Hatchet, Dokken, Skid Row, MSG and Great White to name but a few.

Bringing us up to the present day it's time to return to a line-up that includes a vocalist and so Taz has used the incredible vocal talents of Chandler Mogel (Outloud / Punky Meadows). Chandler and Taz have always kept in touch and it seemed the right time to collaborate on an album… and here is 'Pressure and Time'. As Taz states ' ressure and Time' is how you create diamonds'

This new 2017 release is 12 tracks chock full of exciting ideas and quality musicianship, original members Val Trainor and Barney Firks lay down a great rhythm backbone for Taz to show off his guitar playing prowess.

Something a little different today – a guest review! Please welcome former Kerrang journalist and current AOR Blvd record label partner Kelv Hellrazer, who asked if he could review the Punky Meadows album. More than happy to oblige. Over to Kelv:

“I was a full card carrying member of AEF ...that's Angel Earth Force to those of you not in the know ....in mid 80's i even stalked Frank Dimino .....down so Metal Forces could get exclusive on his new band ....Teriff  or Terris lol ...Poor old Frank had to Change his phone number ....Even though in 70's i  thought i could look like Barry Brandt hahhahahha
Back To Punky - Last heard of with Fergie Frederikson (RIP) fronting Angel .....with Ricky Phillips ....if you have'nt heard demos you aint heard shit lol ....White Sister covered two Angel songs they Did and songs even turned up on Fergie's solo effort .......
Punky why did Angel not reform back in late 80s doing Sinful Style music i never know ......The greatest hair band ever, better than Kiss ..Speaking of kiss rumours abound ....that Punky were'nt allowed to join… better hair ...or why didn't you join House Of Lords ...The Brits deserved to see those Flashy licks and the ultimate hairdo in rock.

2016 ....Punky hooks up with The future Of Rock Chandler Mogel love this Guy .....He looks like A Young Nuno  and sings lIke A muther.....Plus Angel Stalwart bassist of White Lion fame lol Felix Robinson ....yes i searched endlessy early 80's for Felix Robinson 's White Lion. Whilst Danny Anniello and Bobby Pantella   r pros .....who convinced him to return. Amazingly my ole buddies ......Khalil Turk/Barrie Kirtley  gets hold of em For Escape music what a grand job they've  done in ages love the cover and executive production hhhaha

Musically bits of Angel killer guitar licks, bits Of Raspberries, bits of Silverwing, Seb Kozack, better than Cheap Trick  hahha" Lost and Lonely" definitely Angel Like , " Home Wrecker" starts off with Guiffria style keys from legendary  aor stalwart Charlie Calv...wanna hear more from him ...what about A "Punky's Theme" ....With a dual between Charlie And Punky ....
I nearly crapped myself to intro "Descent”, Taken from Angel intro Tape i wanted to search Ebay for a satin Jacket haha ....Searchin is great Angelic stuff 60's influenced really refreshing as is Punky's awesome guitar sound ..Aor by Numbers bands take note ..."Baby Dont Cry" Could Be a wonderful hit Punky could be a hit with Hairdressers everywhere lol ..He's Still very Dallas Meets Dynasty and he's kno youngster

i could rave on forever ....i'm just gonna off  to Nottingham to nick Dave Reynolds Angel necklace And get Dave Herron To dump one of bands on Rockingham , so these guys can play Punky And Chandler could steal the show ....Always better Than Kiss stick that in your Pants Gene ,Punky And Chandler could steal the show.

I concur….well, the bits that give the thumbs up anyway! Chandler does indeed do a great job once again, proving his vocal versatility and the songs are a throwback to the 80s without sounding too dated.
Good, catchy classic rock with a retro vibe. I’m slightly less enamoured, but still a solid album from my standpoint.

Track List: Descent / The Price You Pay / Straight Shooter / Breathless And Jaded / Loaded Gun / Lost And Lonely / Home Wrecker / I Wanna Be Your Drug / Leavin Tonight / Searchin / Something Strange / Shadow Man / Shake Shake / Summertime Love / Fallen Angel / They Don’t Like My Ways (Bonus Track) / Summertime Love/Alternate Solo (Bonus Track)

PUNKY MEADOWS "Fallen Angel" is:

PUNKY MEADOWS - LEAD GUITAR, RHYTHM GUITAR
DANNY FARROW - RHYTHM GUITAR
FELIX ROBINSON - BASS GUITAR (Angel)
CHANDLER MOGEL - LEAD VOCALS (Outloud)
BOB PANTELLA - DRUMS (Monster Magnet)
CHARLIE CALV - KEYBOARDS (Shotgun Symphony)

Punky Meadows is best known for being the iconic lead guitarist of the 70's band ANGEL on Casablanca records. ANGEL, like label mates KISS, were a huge theatrical band that while also being a headlining act in the US were also one of the biggest rock bands in Japan.

Punky was a huge influence to many musicians for not only his great feel, tone and unique style of guitar playing, but also his rock star image that many have tried to emulate over the years. ANGEL released 6 albums on Casablanca before disbanding in 1981 due to the demise of the label. During his career Punky had been sought after and considered to join well-known bands such as Kiss, Aerosmith, New York Dolls and Michael Bolton. Upon the disbanding of ANGEL he occupied himself with successful business ventures while continuing to play guitar and write songs.

Through social media, the fans have let him know that they want to hear from him and with his new found passion in music with close friend Danny Farrow Anniello they have written some great new songs for his solo album FALLEN ANGEL. The songs are very melodic yet diverse with catchy choruses that stick with you. Punky is playing better than ever and it really shows on this timeless collection of music. Punky wants to bring the fans the best he has and FALLEN ANGEL proves it.

Also you can hear Felix Robinson on bass guitar former member of Angel also played with 707 and White Lion...and Bobby Pantella on Drums former Raging Slab and is currently with Monster Magnet.

This solo album is a stunning recording, and it is everything that fans old and new will want to hear; we are all giving Punky a very warm welcoming return.

RADIO EXILE UNVEIL NEW "SOULFIRE" VIDEO

Hot on the heels of the video for the song "No Pity on the Highway" and the release of their full-length self-titled album, Radio Exile has a new video ready to go for the song "Soulfire". Overseen by the same director that worked with the band on their earlier clip, Adam Gendler, "Soulfire" was filmed at Roxy & Dukes, and Ricky Syers Art Works (to capture the vaudeville setting the band was looking for)

Comprised of members Chandler Mogel (Lead and Backing Vocals), Charlie Calv (Piano, Keyboards), Jimmy Leahey (Guitars, Backing Vocals), Kenny Aaronson (Bass), and Dave Anthony (Drums, Percussion, Backing Vocals), the members of Radio Exile have previously worked with the crème de la crème of the rock world - Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Hall and Oates, Allison Krauss, Billy Idol, John Waite, members of Pink Floyd, Styx, Journey, Van Halen, the Rolling Stones, and Black Sabbath.

Chandler: "With 'Soulfire,' we decided to pull from everyone's imagination. It's a combination of almost everyone's input, but running a common Vaudevillian theme. 'Soulfire' is a feel-good, straight ahead rocker and it lends itself to going in a lot of directions conceptually, so we wanted to do something different with it."

Charlie: "It's a typical love story, maybe with a little twist. Boy meets girl, boy gets heart ripped out, and then they live happily ever after. All done with an interesting cast of live entertainers, and not so live entertainers. Oh, and wait until you see the killer band!"

Soon, the "Soulfire" video will help spread the word further about this great new band, which has already received coverage and/or rave reviews by the likes of BraveWords (Canada), Classic Rock Revisited (US), Rocktopia (UK), and MelodicRock (Australia).

'Radio Exile' Tracklisting:

You’ve got to hand it to Charlie Calv. Every project he comes up with has a remarkable similarity. That is – he delivers classic melodic rock records with a strong 80s background and that US East Coast musical touch, except no record ever sounds like anything else around at the time and nothing else, period. Shotgun Symphony and Skin Tag for example are both stand out bands with an original, left of center sound.
And so it is again with Radio Exile, featuring some of the most mature compositions of Charlie’s career to date.

Vocalist Chandler Mogul is someone who’s fronted some projects I love, but others I couldn’t stand. Thankfully in Charlie he has a great partner and his voice fits in perfectly.
You’ve got action from track one on this album – the no nonsense High Road, High Price and choppy No Pity On The Highway – bit for me the class of this album jumped a mile upon the arrival of the semi-acoustic earthy Feels Like Home. It’s a real gem.
The treats don’t stop there, as the guys channel Queen 1975 with the layered-pomp-harmony of Higher Than The Sun and still delivers with the moody melodic class of Hang On and the organ/synth soulfulness of Starting Over.

A Cross The Stone has to be one of the most soulful AOR songs in recent memories. Super slick, super smooth.
Road To Exile closes the album with a return to the choppy riff driven opening, delivering another memorable chorus.

Better once it gets going and once there, an unstoppable tour de melodic force. A terrific debut album from the guys, with a major production and some very memorable songs.

OUTLOUD - Let's Get Serious (Review)

BOTTOM LINE
content:

The formula of the band’s first two albums is continued here. You’ve got the more relaxed easy flow of the second album and the song quality of the tougher sounding debut.
It makes for a nice balance and all in all, a very catchy, enjoyable melodic hard rock album. If you have yet to pick this album up and have the band’s other releases, do not hesitate at all.
Well done guys.

Greek/American rockers Outloud are back with album number three, good to see the guys keeping momentum flowing with short gaps between albums.
And I’m pleased to say they help keep momentum going by delivering consistently good records that are thoroughly enjoyable to listen to. I wasn’t a fan of their last EP release, but the studio albums to date have all been excellent.
This is no exception.

The almost Spinal Tap-influenced opening hard rocker Death Rock! would be laughable delivered by any other band, but when it’s from these guys, it just works. The double kick drum flurry and catchy chorus “we’re gonna rock you to death” is pure hard rock heaven.
The album flows beautifully into the more melodic I Was So Blind, and back to the more urgent One More Time – both songs delving choruses that can’t be ignored.
The moody Bury The Knife offers another side of the band, the passive aggressive track turning outwardly aggressive towards the end, very cool.

And so it continues. Most of the album presents as uptempo melodic rock mixing with hard rock, but always there’s a melody, a guitar solo and a chorus.
Things only slow down for the acoustic ballad It Really Doesn’t Matter, but then it’s straight back into the uptempo anthemic (and quite awesome) Another Kind of Angel.
Other highlights include the fast moving A While To Go and the furious but melodic Toy Soldiers (featuring guitar god Mike Orlando of Adrenaline Mob).
And to close, the band throws in a rocked up and stylized cover of OMD’s Enola Gay. It suits the band and it fits the album. Nicely done.
