Ok, so half a dozen listens to the new MR. BIG album 'Defying Gravity'...
Easily the band's most diverse recording to date. And very raw, very 'live in the studio'.

Some very innovative tracks - very different for The Big.
Production from Kevin Elson is very raw - those with a dislike for Kevin Shirley's effort with the band will likely have the same view here.

A few new masterpieces as is always the case, awesome musicianship of course - but also a little mellower than the last two and ultimately - an album that I think will attract divided opinion.
Another 20 listens to go before I will review officially.

Hi folks,
I've spent most of this week without a computer - hence the lack of updates.
I've also been forced to re-do a lot of work due to both my main and backup drives getting corrupted in my failing PC a few weeks back. So it really put me under a lot of stress and fitter behind than ever.
Right now I won't be back in business until sometime over this Easter weekend, so with most people busy, I'll take the next few days as an opportunity to get new system up and running and take stock of what has been a frantic start to the year.
Lots of problems unfortunately - some of which come from rushing to meet deadlines and attempting to catch up on too many things (reviews for one...).
With a clearer focus on things, I'll be back to deliver what everyone wants from MR and more.
One last small issue with Arti Tisi release - being a bonehead, I forgot completely about the Easter break, so I have to push the shipping date back one week (April 26).
Jimmy Davis should be fine to remain on target for May 19.
The MelodicRock Records title for June is one more from the vault which I'll announce after the break. It's a monster and it's been one of those releases that just seems to have been too hard to get a result from. But the wait is almost over!
And to confuse those guessing, we've managed to turn a 10 track album into a double CD!
There hasn't been much said about MelodicRockFest 5 - mainly due to a delay in detailed responses from a couple of artists and also the USA venue. But I'm confident that will also be resolved fully over the next week, so we can move that into full forward!
For those eager to book vacation time, the USA event is May 4-5-6 and Sweden will be 25-26-27.
Some truly great artists lining up to take part. I just need to make sure the budget works and we can fit into both weekends, the best possible artists that you may not otherwise see elsewhere.
I've signed 3 new artists this week for albums on MelodicRock Records which will come out over the coming months. Lots of great music there and a couple of seriously heavy albums alongside some melodic rock gold.
Plus I have a list of vault titles a page long that I'm determined to continue chasing. Lots of music to come.
Thanks to all for your patience and my apologies for a haphazard start to the year.
Finally - because of these PC problems, I haven't been able to cover the sad passing of some more notable rock n rollers.
I'd like to pay tribute to J Geils and former Autograph drummer Keni Richards as well as Eric Cook (Demolition Records). May they all rest in peace.

Hardline singer Johnny Gioeli will be the special guest at the sixth edition of the festival “Art is...” in Montana, Bulgaria. The event will be held on the second of June, and Gioeli will hit the stage in the company of musicians from local rock band Eridan. Support groups are youth rock bands. “Art is...” is a charity fundraising festival which raises money for a children’s charity. The audience will have the opportunity to hear live some of the greatest hits of AXEL Rudi Pell and HARDLINE. There will be some surprises!
The motto of this year is "Art is ... to love yourself the way you are" - one of the highlights will be a special meeting between the children of DTSDVU, talented children from the town and Johnny Gioeli. Says Gioeli “there can be no greater joy than knowing your music makes a difference in people’s lives, and I am thrilled not only to perform for the wonderful fans in Bulgaria, but especially to be able to spend some time with these kids. “

ARTI TISI remains on schedule for a April 19 release.
All SHOTGUN SYMPHONY orders have been dispatched.
Replacement JOHNNY LIMA CDs arrive here tomorrow for full dispatch of orders on Monday.
I've had a few people very kindly offer donations for the new PC that I'm trying to sort out - part of the unavoidable running costs of MR. It's been five years since any kind of upgrade and 7 since this machine was put into commission.

Apologies to all - my PC has taken its last breath and I'm currently without access to email and files apart from iPhone.
Each computer has served me well over the years, this one has been around for 5-6 years. Not bad for what I put it through.
I will do my best to be back up and running by Monday. It all depends on how quickly I can get a new PC.

Swedish vocalist Linnéa Vikström, best known as one of the vocalists in Therion, has signed a worldwide deal with Despotz Records.
Leanna says, "I’m really excited to be working together with Despotz and with their help I’ll be sure to present some fantastic music to the world! Just the fact that Despotz is willing to release an album recorded completely live shows how willing they are to break new grounds and think outside of the box. Be ready to venture out deep into the universe as we launch this spacecraft of music!"
Linnea will work with her solo project under the secret name of QFT. The debut album will be released November of 2017, with the first, as yet untitled, single hitting the streets in May.
"Imagine if Black Sabbath and Pagan's Mind gave birth to a starchild, thus QFT is born," says Despotz' Omer Akay. "This is the mastermind of Linnéa Vikström. The space journey has just begun."

I'm putting together all the Johnny Lima pre-orders for shipping out tomorrow. Unfortunately Shotgun Symphony remains delayed as the second batch of slipcovers were also written off as too small! Argghh! They will all finally be delivered end of next week and shipped out ASAP on arrival.

CAGE will perform an extended set each night with songs from all 7 of their award winning albums including their latest concept record ANCIENT EVIL. The band will be rotating songs throughout the tour so each night will be a different and unique show. CAGE will also hold a free meet and greet after every performance as they have done their entire career.
“Performing is the most fun part of the whole process but a close second is meeting all the killer metal heads after the show and getting to know new friends or reconnect with our long time ones. We look forward to meeting all of you!” says singer Sean Peck.
CAGE will be supported by Belgium thrashers GUILTY AS CHARGED for most of the tour and LORRAINE CROSS in Spain. CAGE will also be joined on various dates by good friends LONEWOLF, LORD VOLTURE, EMERALD, and HURLEMENT.

I’m deeply saddened to hear of the passing today of Asia’s John Wetton - the rock icon losing his battle with cancer. What a mighty voice that has been silenced. RIP John.

MelodicRock Records is set for its biggest year to date. I'm truly excited to finally announce some of the projects I've been working on for months.

MelodicRock Records is always looking for new artists, new albums, old discoveries, lost albums and unreleased gems or even vital reissues to bring back to life.

MRR band PARIS is launching a website: www.paristheband.com
Arnaud Leger (the band's friend and artwork designer on both albums) worked together with Sebastien to create the new website that includes infos, soundbites, videos, photos, merchandising... It's a great looking site.
