Friends, family members and fellow followers of Art Nation!

It is done!
Album number 2 is completely finished!

There are no words to express our gratitude towards those who have helped us along the way.

Sorry folks. Updates are coming but a double HDD failure wiped out everything I had including email and site data. I'm in the process of recovering that info but also need to buy 2 new drives to get restarted. I'm currently owed money which I'm waiting for which will cover this unplanned expense.

Lots to get through and MelodicRock Records releases to announce.

I'd also like to state my condolences on the sudden passing of British singer David A Saylor.

I'm losing track of all the people that have passed and I need to pay respects to. It's insane. R.I.P Rick Parfitt (Status Quo); Mick Zane (Malice) plus both Rick Springfield, Rob Rock and Jack Blades’ mothers. Carrie Fischer and Debbie Reynolds too. R.I.P - may they be blessed.

2016, go suck balls.

In more uplifting news, stand by for March Melodic Madness with new albums by ECLIPSE - Monumentum (March 8 Japan, late March ROTW); HOUSE OF LORDS - Saint Of The Lost Souls (March 8 Japan, late March ROTW) and BROTHER FIRETRIBE - TBA (March).

I really don't give a shit about the Rap N Roll Hall Of Fame...at least it will suck a little less now.

But today I'm playing my two favourite JOURNEY albums.

Congratulations to Neal Schon, Gregg Rolie, Ross Valory, Aynsley Dunbar, Steve Perry, Steve Smith, and Jonathan Cain. And to Robert Fleischman, Steve Augeri, Arnel Pineda, Randy Jackson, Mike Baird, Deen Castronovo and Jeff Scott Soto - enjoy the moment as you guys all helped keep the Journey legacy alive.

News from German melodic rock vocalist Michael Bormann:

Michael Bormann - 'Rock Hard' (Best Of Rock Songs) "I will release a BEST OF my rock songs very soon (February / March 2017). The album will include some of my best songs written for Jaded Heart and all my solo stuff, plus 1-2 new songs. Partly remixed or with a new make-up. KILLER! A new studio-album, No. 6, is planned for middle 2017."

Jaded HardBEST OF 1990 - 2004 - Good news for all fans of the Jaded Heart's Bormann era!

Over the years, Michael was always asked to bring the old stuff back to the stage. A Best Of 1990 – 2004.
Since neither Bormann, nor the present Jaded Heart guys cover this period, Michael now took the occasion to put this into action.
The first shows are confirmed and more will be booked from now on.

Michael´s statement: "I'm really looking forward to the gigs, because these songs are a part of me and stand for 14 unforgettable years!"

As for me right now, I've started production on a brand new Tony Mills (TNT /SHY Solo album that should see daylight in 2017. Everything so far sounding great. Happy to also be part of the writing process. Lots more studio stuff to look forward to next year aswell is this. See you all soon."

Acetate Records proudly announces the addition of legendary Los Angeles band JUNKYARD to our roster! Junkyard was dirtier and blusier than most of their counterparts back in the day, combining equal parts Southern rock, boogie-woogie and self-destruction heard in their hits “Hollywood” and “Simple Man”.

Their first album for Acetate is in the works and will be released in early 2017!

In the meantime, you can check out their latest single “Faded” here:

A bit of this and a bit of that...

Reviews: I've done less this year than any other time since I started MR. Bad bad man. To correct this I need to wrap up everything I've missed this year. The only way to do that is to do them all at once, briefly. I'll do as many as I can, getting straight to The Bottom Line verdict.

MelodicRock Records: Some changes coming up. Some fantastic titles that build on what has been the label's best year to date. Stand by for a preview this week.
Some aspects of the distribution model have to change. Impossible to make a return if left to the old model of doing things.
Get ready for something no other label has yet offered or tried.

MR: Site will be updated all next week and then take a Christmas break. Any breaking news will be shared on Facebook and Twitter and possibly at MR also.

MelodicRockFest: Stay tuned...these things take time. Mainly because of dealing with agents and management. Artists's are easy, when you're forced to involve the upper level, it always gets complicated!

MelodicRockFest Australia 2: It's possible...depending on artist availability in required time frames.

Tasmania! Saturday February 11 - a night of melodic rock right here in Hobart. Details announced next week.

MelodicRockDirect: 40% off still going on... check out the updated site. www.melodicrockdirect.com

That all folks. Thanks for the support this year. I think we can all agree that 2016 can kiss our asses and good riddance to it.
Thankfully there was still some great music to help and I'll be working on making sure I cover everything in the reviews and EOY wrap up, just to be sure you haven't missed anything.

From keyboardist MARK STANWAY today:

"Due to irrevocable circumstances, I am deeply saddened to announce that I have made one of the most difficult decisions in my life...... I have officially left Magnum...

I apologise to anyone who was maybe hoping to see me personally over the next few days, but sadly I will NOT be there. However, I should like it known, that, I am and will remain extremely proud to have been a small part of it all for the past 36 years or so and wish the band and organization all the best for the future. I will of course firmly remain in music and hope to see many of you a little further down the road, sincerely - Mark Stanway."

Hi folks. Many many sincere thanks for the support over the past 10 months as MR celebrates its 20th Anniversary.

I'm currently in Chicago at Rocknskull Fest followed by 2 weeks vacation with the family. It's been a long long time since we've had a break like this and I need it to recharge after a challenging year.

Lots planned, lots to come....

See you back here November 20.

News: "The nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2017 are in, and the list includes Pearl Jam, Tupac Shakur, Depeche Mode, Electric Light Orchestra, Jane's Addiction, Janet Jackson, Journey, the Cars, the Zombies and Yes. The rest of this year's hopefuls are Bad Brains, Chaka Khan, Chic, J. Geils Band, Joan Baez, Joe Tex, Kraftwerk, MC5 and Steppenwolf. The top vote-getters will be announced in December and inducted next April at a ceremony at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. HBO will broadcast the ceremony later in the year."

Journey - WOW! Great and only 15 years late. But oh boy...if they make the cut, the reunion rumors/question stuff will drive me nuts.

Yes - of course. Only 20 years late
The Cars - without doubt
ELO - finally, see Yes comment.

Tupac - oh FFS. Just when you thought they might be playing it straight for once.
Janet Jackson - WHY?

Steppenwolf, Zombies, Pearl Jam...yeah, ok...

And the rest - mainly Rolling Stoned ordered hipster douche requirements.

Magnus Karlsson (Magnus Karlsson's Free Fall, Primal Fear) and Ronnie Romero (Lords Of Black, Rainbow) are working on a brand new project album together, entitled THE FERRYMEN.

Musically you can expect an overdose of melodic metal melting the songwriting and epics of the great Allen/Lande records with the Ronnie James Dio-esque vocal approach from Ronnie Romero.

One of the highlights of 2017 is on it's way to you!!!
