Rock Legends Join Golden Robot Records
Set to Release First New Album in Over a Decade in 2019

Australia’s leading international independent record label, Golden Robot Records continues to grow at an unprecedented pace. The label is absolutely thrilled to announce that globally revered, Billboard-charting rock icons KING’S X are now part of their ever-growing international roster.

KING’S X recently signed a global deal with Golden Robot Records which will see their long-awaited forthcoming new album released worldwide in 2019 via Golden Robot Records’ partners in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

"I’m really excited to release the next KING’S X album with Mark, Derek and the crew at Golden Robot! May the groove be with us all,” says vocalist/bassist dUg Pinnick. Guitarist Ty Tabor adds, "I'm looking forward to working with Golden Robot Records!"

Drummer Jerry Gaskill adds, "It's been a while since we've made a record. During that time, I've been thinking, when and if we make a new record, I want it to be the best we can do. I want to believe in it. I want to make it great, whatever it takes. I don't want to just make another KING'S X record. I think and hope that we are in that place. I think and hope its time and I feel good about the team we'll be working with at Golden Robot Records. I'm going do my best. Let's do this thing.”

"When we started to talk to KING’S X about signing with Golden Robot in the U.S. and we met dUg in LA a few times, I knew 100% that we would end up working with them. I’m loving the fact they are still the original members and I really believe this new album will be there best yet! It's incredible how many people inside the industry – and I'm talking about very well-known musicians – love these guys and can’t wait for a new album. We are all very excited indeed,” says Mark Alexander-Erber, Group Founder and President.

“I am delighted to finally be able to work with one the most respected, creative rock bands of the past 30+ years. KING’S X is not only a superb rock band with an ardent fan base, but are also a ‘musician musicians’ band. Golden Robot Records is determined to finally help KING'S X receive the worldwide recognition it fully deserves,” says Derek Shulman, Executive Chairman of Worldwide Expansion.

Since the release of their debut record, Out Of The Silent Planet, in 1988, KING’S X released a dozen albums that have seen them rightfully earn their place on the rock royalty family tree. Fusing progressive metal, funk and soul grooves with vocal arrangements rooted in blues, gospel and even the British Invasion era influences, KING’S X created a style all their own which continues to be an inspiration for bands to this day.

Featuring vocalist and bassist Doug Pinnick, guitarist Ty Tabor and drummer Jerry Gaskill, KING’S X have never changed their line-up, a rarity in the music world and a testament to the band and musicians and friends.

Critically acclaimed from the start, KING’S X are musician’s musicians, name-dropped by everyone from Anthrax and Suicidal Tendencies to Iron Maiden and Blue Murder for their instrumental prowess. Pearl Jam's bassist Jeff Ament even declared that "KING'S X invented grunge”. They also enjoyed a long life via the David Letterman Show with their track, “We Were Born To Be Loved” (from 1990’s Faith Hope Love), also a favorite of the Paul Shaffer’s CBS Orchestra to play during commercial breaks.

In 1992, KING’S X signed to Atlantic Records/Megaforce Records, released three albums and toured with bands as diverse as Scorpions, Type O Negative and Pearl Jam. In the early 2000’s, KING’S X released three studio albums and their first official live album via Metal Blade Records. In 2005, the band signed to German-based progressive music specialty label, InsideOut Music, and released Ogre Tones, an album described as a return to the bands classic sound. KING’S X forged ahead with new albums, DVD’s and tours up until 2012, when drummer Jerry Gaskill suffered a major heart attack. The band then quickly compiled an exclusive live release from their archives entitled, Burning Down Boston. The proceeds of which went directly to assisting Gaskill with his medical expenses. They rolled on for two more years until Jerry suffered another heart attack, which resulted in him having a double bypass operation and ultimately led to the band taking an indefinite hiatus.

This break didn’t last long, as they were back on the road in mid-2015, shortly afterward announcing they would begin work on a new studio album. This would be the band’s first since 2008’s XV. KING’S X began meetings with Golden Robot Records management in Los Angeles in early 2017, eventually signing a global deal in October 2018.

While it’s been a decade since KING’S X have released a new record, the wait has definitely been worth it! Watch this space for news on the forthcoming album in the very near future.

JOHNNY GIOELI Solo Debut 'One Voice' Out Dec. 7

If you are unfamiliar with the name Johnny Gioeli and the bands he is involved with, Hardline, Crush 40, and Axel Rudi Pell, then you have simply missed out on one of the most gifted voices to grace the hard rock genre in the past 25 years!

Gioeli will release his very first solo effort, entitled “One Voice”, via Frontiers Music Srl on December 7th. The title “One Voice” is a tribute to the fans who have supported Gioeli’s career for decades. Musically, of the album, Johnny says, “I love guitar driven rock. I love songs that have a direct impact, gets you thinking and puts you in a positive frame of mind.”

When asked why he decided to do a solo album at this point in his career, Gioeli says, “[c]reating music is my life. Starting with a pin needle of an idea and cultivating that idea into a song that has an effect on someone has always fulfilled me musically. When a young man in my hometown had a life changing accident leaving him paralyzed, I knew I wanted to do something special. I wanted to make this solo album to help him with some of the enormous costs associated with rehabilitation. I also knew that those who love the music I make are fans for life and I knew they would help too. It’s a testament to the beautiful hearts that circle this globe. I woke one morning with the title ‘One Voice’ in my head knowing that I need air from others to sing. I am so proud of this uplifting album. It’s been said that it is the ‘feel good album of the 21st century’. I’m grateful for those words.”

The aforementioned ‘young man’ is Joe Barber. A large portion of the money raised for this album through a Pledge campaign is going directly to Joe and his family to help him and his family with needs his recovery and the associated medical costs.

“‘One Voice’ is the sum of my efforts to bring a world together for the love of music”, muses Gioeli. “If you can imagine fans from all parts of the world. the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Scandinavia, Australia etc.all of them coming together to donate money to a kid they don’t even knowit’s a testament to the song ‘One Voice’. We are ‘One Voice’ together, we are love and hope forever, we are one world that matters, so let’s all just help each other.”

Of the team that helped him craft this album in the studio, Johnny says, “I have an extremely talented group of musicians performing with me on ‘One Voice’. Eric Gadrix on guitar, who wrote the musical compositions, Marco di Salvia on drums, Nik Mazzucconi on bass, and my Hardline bandmate Alessandro del Vecchio on keys, who is also my trusted producer, engineer and lil’ brother. A powerhouse band I will take on the road. Making this record was a labor of love, for sure. I spent countless days and nights in my studio thinking, singing, recording and making sure I loved it before you, the fans, got a chance to love it. I wanted to paint a picture I hope everyone wants to hang on their wall. ‘One Voice’ is that painting.”

GOTTHARD PRESENTS AN ACOUSTIC TIMETABLE THROUGH MORE THAN 25 YEARS OF BAND HISTORY:
"DEFROSTED 2" APPEARS ON DECEMBER 7, 2018

"Defrosted" released in 1997 - was GOTTHARD’s very first live album. Still to this day it’s seen as a cult-milestone within the bands career that helped establish their reputation as the most successful band from Switzerland. For more than 25 years, GOTTHARD have thrived in the global spotlight; with a career that includes 16 No.1-albums, over three million records sold, multiple awards and over 2000 shows all over the planet.

And now, 21 years after the first edition, GOTTHARD return to SONY Switzerland and Nuclear Blast with »Defrosted 2«, an ultimate unplugged-compilation of GOTTHARD’s greatest hits. "Defrosted 2" combines the pride of their lengthy career by showcasing 22 of the bands most iconic tracks. It provides a perfect cross section of the bands formidable career that can be appreciated by all.

Before the release of »Defrosted 2«, which will be available in both Ecolbook and 4-vinyl formats in December, GOTTHARD will release driving rock‘n‘roll track “Bye Bye Caroline“ as the first single this Friday. As one of two brand new songs on the album the song was lyrically inspired by STATUS QUO‘s 1973 hit "Caroline" and was created with Francis Rossi himself, on the last Rock Meets Classic Tour.

“I got to know Leo and Nic at the shows we did together this spring“ explains Rossi. “On the Rock Meets Classic-Tour, there was a comradeship that I haven‘t experienced like this in over 50 years. Leo, Nic and I perfectly got along with each other right from the start, so one evening, I went over to GOTTHARD‘s backstage room with my guitar and we started jamming. Nic immediately started singing some cool melodies to it and Leo said, that the song somehow had to contain "Caroline". Only months later, Rossi invited both of them to his house in London to record “Bye Bye Caroline“ in his home-studio. Whilst in London the band also recorded an accompanying video for the single.

"Defrosted 2" was produced by Leo Leoni in collaboration with Nicolo Fragile and as usual, Charlie Bauerfeind was responsible for the mix. A lovingly selected array of sophisticated acoustic arrangements and with two and a half decades of hits, GOTTHARD celebrate exuberantly great moments, quiet memories and unsurpassed riffs on »Defrosted 2«– the pre-order starts on October 5th, 2018.

STEVE PERRY - Traces (Special Edition Bonus Tracks Review)

‘October In New York’ is a slow crooner of a song – a very authentic jazz/40s pop crooner complete with a stripped back jazz-ballad arrangement with orchestration and a simple piano to accompany. Not huge on this one – but the musical style is not my bag generally speaking.

‘Angel Eyes’ lifts the tempo a little – mid-range for this track, which quite honestly could have come straight off Street Talk. Gracious, this one should have been on all editions! A wonderful breezy tune with lots of Motown influences and the same feel as ‘I Believe’ and ‘Go Away’. The vocal is quite marvellous.

‘Call On Me’ takes on the third different style in 3 songs. Almost as if Steve has left the more adventurous tracks for the special edition. This one has another familiar feel to it, using a mid-tempo reggae beat in the same way as Steve has done before, with his soulful vocals just dripping over the instrumentation. Another fine vocal it must be said and another likeable song. I would have used this on the regular edition.

‘Could We Be Somethin’ Again’ is yet another left turn – a slow to mid-tempo pop/soul track with a tidy little beat and another warm vocal. Good song, but definitely a bonus track kinda tune.

The 3 minute ‘Blue Jays Fly’ is the 5th song with the 5th different style. Not sure how to describe this one. A softly sung vocal over sparse instrumentation – it’s almost in a meditative or lullaby state that doesn’t feature a lot of vocals. It closes out things nicely, but not one I’d choose for the main set of songs.

More songs are always welcomed – there’s a couple of great tunes here that could easily have been part of the main release. The other 3 make for likable bonus tracks and take Steve’s overdue comeback album to a better length.
My original review and rating remain intact.

LION'S SHARE Recalls Three Original Members For New EP

Artist:
Categories:

Swedish heavy metal band LION'S SHARE is making a new five track EP available on streaming services and digital service providers today, September 28.
"EP" is the follow-up to 2009’s "Dark Hours" album and includes a re-recording of the LION’S SHARE classic “Sins Of A Father” - the opening track on the band’s seelf- titled debut from 1995.

"It was a blast to revisit the song together with Andy Loos (bass) and Kay Backlund (keyboards) who also did the original version with me back in the day. Sure brought back a lot of good and crazy memories.” LION'S SHARE guitarist Lars Chriss says.

The EP also features “Another Desire” and “The Lion’s Trial”, both previously only available as lyric videos.

LION'S SHARE lead singer Nils Patrik Johansson says: “Lars and I have always worked very well together, and at this point it feels the most natural to keep LION’S SHARE as a duo, with friends helping out wherever needed. We of course have Andy and Kay, but also my son Nils Fredrik Johansson helping out on drums. Actually it’s more or less the same team that did my solo album “Evil Deluxe” earlier this year when I think about it.”

“As a special bonus we included two Black Sabbath covers, live from the “Sweden Rock - Ronnie James Dio Tribute” in October 2010, where LION’S SHARE was the house band if you will with various guests coming up to do a song or two with us. It’s taken directly from the eight channel drum monitor mixer, so it’s 100% live without any chance to repair or edit. We think it captures the raw energy of the band in front of an absolutely brilliant crowd that night.” adds Lars.

LION’S SHARE “EP” tracklist:
1. Another Desire
2. The Lion’s Trial
3. Sins Of A Father (2018 re-recording)
4. The Mob Rules (Live from the Sweden Rock - Ronnie James Dio Tribute 2010)
5. Heaven And Hell (Live from the Sweden Rock - Ronnie James Dio Tribute 2010)

AXEL RUDI PELL - "The Wild And The Young" (Official Lyric Video)

German Metal wizard AXEL RUDI PELL release a new digital single and lyric video for the song "The Wild And The Young" today. The song is taken from the current studio album "Knights Call".

Axel Rudi Pell says: 'The Wild And The Young' is, after the intro, the opening number of our latest longplayer 'Knights Call' and also the concert opener of our recent tour. Highly acclaimed by the fans, we will also open the second leg of our upcoming tour, which will last from October 18th till November 4th, with that track. I personally think, that this song is one of the strongest I wrote so far, very powerful and well equipped with a catchy chorus. We're looking forward to the tour and can't wait!"
