Rob Moratti is a genuine and true original. With an astonishing range, he's carved such a unique style blending the finest elements of melodic and progressive rock. “Renaissance” will be released on June 21st, 2019 and marks his first release on AOR Heaven.

He started his career professionally in the early 90's as lead vocalist and songwriter of the band Moratti; entering the new millennium with Final Frontier. They immediately were well received making an impact on the airwaves of Japan and in Europe. Rob's future went forward with Final Frontier, soaring out four incredible melodic pieces.

Over the years in spite of all the changes in the music scene, Rob's perseverance and passion stood strong. DUANE MORANO Celebrates ‘80s Metal On Debut Album, ‘Incognito’

Artist:

The sounds of ‘80s metal and shred are on full display throughout the debut full-length by guitarist Duane Morano. Entitled ‘Incognito,’ the 13-track album will be released on Friday, May 17, 2019 (and can be pre-ordered via https://morano.hearnow.com/), also features input from some very well-known/respected names within the rock and metal worlds.

“Morano doesn't really have any members,” explains the band leader. “It's a bunch of revolving people based on who's available. The main lineup on this record are Michael Foster, Pat Badger, Danny Vaughn, Terry Ilous, Bryan Cole, Keith Horne, Dan Michaels, Chris Lester, JK Northrup, with other guests such as Nita Strauss, Shane French, Kevin Figueiredo, and Eric Clemenzi playing on a track or two.”

“I wanted my first record to be about the music that inspired me to play. I've played everything from 50's doo wop to country to modern pop as a hired gun over the years, but the 80's was where music really began for me, so I wanted to celebrate that.” And celebrate it he does, as such standout tracks as “After the Love,” “Face the Fire,” and “Don’t Believe You” bring to mind the sounds and stylings of some of Morano’s top influences, including Van Halen, Def Leppard, Journey, and Night Ranger.

But the talented Morano didn’t just appear out of nowhere. “Back in 1991 Dan Michaels and I were in a band together called Shattered Image. We were in the studio recording a 4 song demo to submit to labels when one of the tracks, ‘Manhattan,’ became a favorite of local Tampa Bay radio DJ Austin Keys after hearing us play the song at a local club. We gave him the demo and he put the song into rotation on 98 Rock. From there, It spiraled to several other stations in the southeast but the face of music changed less than a year later and so were the hopes to release a record.”

Times have changed, however, and Morano (whose 30-instrument strong collection is includes his main axe, which is a 1987 Ibanez RG570) looks to take full advantage of the ‘80s metal resurgence. “I think this genre continues to be popular due to the underlying energy in the music. It's happy sounding and there's an organic quality to it. You didn't have the amp simulators, auto tune, and the ability to time slip musical performances to make them artificially tight. The human element of the player got lost.”

And as evidenced by the arrival of Duane Morano’s ‘Incognito’ - and with possible live work on the horizon - the genre is most certainly alive and well.

TOKYO MOTOR FIST Re-Signs With Frontiers

SECOND ALBUM DUE IN 2020 FEATURES VOCALIST TED POLEY & GUITARIST STEVE BROWN

Tokyo Motor Fist, the band featuring Danger Danger vocalist Ted Poley and Trixter guitarist Steve Brown, have announced that they have signed with Frontiers Music Srl for a follow-up album to their 2017 self-titled debut. The release is expected sometime in 2020.

Guitarist and producer Steve Brown says, “Rejoice FISTonians worldwide! My lion’s of the melodic rock world, Tokyo Motor Fist, have re-signed with the legendary Frontiers and are about to begin recording our second album! After the overwhelming success of our debut, Ted, Chuck, Greg, and I are more than ready and roaring to unleash a new TMF album."

"I am so excited to start production on the second TMF album! I was super happy with the success of the first album and I can't wait to start recording the follow up! Time to show the world that TMF is a real band, not just a "one off" project! See us LIVE on the road in 2020," adds vocalist Ted Poley.

"Since hearing the news just a few days ago that Tokyo Motor Fist will be doing a second album for our friends at Frontier Records, I have been pumped beyond words! Well...one word does come to mind...JOY!!!! TMF is one of the coolest bands and most fun projects I’ve ever been involved with. Since it’s inception, TMF has fulfilled a lifetime goal of mine which was to be in a great band playing great music where everyone not only gets along, but truly respects and cares for each other, a-a-a-and is awesome at their craft! For me the sky is the limit with what TMF will achieve in the future. With the vision and multi-talents of Steve Brown again at the helm, the powerhouse vocals of Ted Poley, the thunderous bass of Greg Smith caressing my drumming and the support of Frontiers, we are poised to rock the world with the follow-up to our debut album. It’s gonna be wicked good!!" enthuses drummer Chuck Burgi.

Bassist Greg Smith adds, "Words can’t express how excited I am to do another album with my brothers in TMF! As much fun as it was doing the debut album, the fact that we actually got to play these songs in front of audiences proved to me what I knew in my heart: this was not just a one off deal and the material would resonate with audiences at our live performances. I’m very much looking forward to the recording process and even more excited to play the new tunes in front of fans after it is released! Feel The Fist!"

The band's self-titled debut is available now to buy or stream. See the music video for "Picking Up The Pieces" from the band's debut here: https://youtu.be/Pwz4TDMprFo The video will transport you back to the glory days of watching MTV during the '80s, patiently waiting for your favorite hard rock videos to come on!

You don't need to be a die-hard '80s metal fan to know that the fruits of an artistic alliance between Danger Danger singer Ted Poley and guitarist/producer Steve Brown of TRIXTER is going to make melodic rock fans rejoice! Indeed, Tokyo Motor Fist is exactly what you would expect: catchy and uplifting hard rock, the way it should be. You want big - we mean, BIG - hooks? You got 'em. What about major guitar riffs? Of course there's plenty of those. Killer rhythm section? Well, with Greg Smith (Ted Nugent , Rainbow , Alice Cooper ) and Chuck Burgi (Rainbow, Blue Oyster Cult , Joe Lynn Turner ) you simply can't go wrong!

D-A-D New Album 'A Prayer For The Loud' Due May 31

Artist:
Friday, May 31, 2019

News Feed

Eight years. That’s how long it’s been since Denmark’s most celebrated rock band D-A-D released their last studio album. But now the wait is over. The band’s legion of fans can start the countdown to May 31st when the Danish rock legends unveil their latest album, 'Prayer For The Loud’. It’s been a long time coming but it has been well worth it!

The new album harks back to the core of what D-A-D does better than most: four guys who play thrilling rock music with ferocious energy, catchy songs and an infectious commitment. 'A Prayer For The Loud’ has a clear musical link to classic D-A-D albums such as ‘No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims’ and ‘Riskin’ It All’.

The band was able to pick and choose from a large selection of songs which have been distilled down to what bassist Stig Pedersen describes as the “cream of the crop”. Among the 11 tracks on ‘A Prayer For The Loud’ you’ll find songs that fit right into a vintage D-A-D mould: throbbing, adrenaline-soaked rock, big ballads and mid-tempo songs guided by strong melodies. According to the band itself, this is a contemporary D-A-D album where the quartet has refined some of their cardinal virtues. Everything superfluous has been discarded in the editing suite, cutting the sound and the band’s expression right down to the core.

This is what D-A-D have to say about their new album:

“In the past we have occasionally gone down new avenues to try out stuff that was pretty far from the heart of what we do. It’s been a lot of fun, but this time we have tried to narrow it down to the essence. This time around, we are just being who we really are. ‘A Prayer For The Loud’ is a record where the focus is on melodies and energy. We’ve made a real effort when it comes to writing the choruses and it’s resulted in some great songs where we were meticulous with the details without losing the original rawness and pure energy.”

The band worked on ‘A Prayer For The Loud’ for the past three years, while breaking off to go touring. The album was produced in familiar surroundings at Grapehouse studio in Copenhagen with longtime collaborators Nick Foss and Rune Nissen Petersen. It’s resulted in a record which the band is thrilled about.

Frontman Jesper Binzer says: “Most of all we are proud that we have nailed 11 awesome tracks that are based on where we are right now. We are not shooting in the dark here – this is straight from the heart.”

D-A-D is currently on a short arena tour which will take them to Denmark’s three biggest cities. In the wake of the release of ‘A Prayer For The Loud’ the band will tour major summer festivals in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Germany. You can see the full touring schedule here: www.d-a-d.dk/tour

‘A Prayer For The Loud’ is released May 31 on AFM Records.

The Snake is back! David Coverdale and his band of interchangeable merry men return after a production delay and a question mark over just how long Whitesnake Inc. can continue in light of a decreased vocal ability from the Governor.

Continuing their journey on the snaketrain is duelling guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra, with Reb delivering a bigger hand in the album’s inner workings and Joel getting his first chance to work on new material after joining before The Purple Album.

So what to make of this latest addition to the Whitesnake catalogue? Flesh And Blood may not be a very original title and the artwork looks like a 5 minute photoshop re-arrangement of the band’s 1994 ‘Greatest Hits’ cover, but inside is a more appealing discovery.

The band sounds energised and firing on all cylinders. David Coverdale’s vocals are managed as well as possible throughout the album, but they are heavily processed and a long way from his peak as one of the world’s best rock vocalists. Thankfully he still carries the same attitude and presence as he always has, making it hard to fault the performance overall.

Flesh And Blood sounds like a hybrid of Good To Be Bad, Slip Of The Tongue and maybe a little Slide It In. Plus it has its own little personality too.

The album gets off to a rollicking start with the 4x hard rock bombardment of Good To See You Again, Gonna Be Alright, the commercial friendly single Shut Up & Kiss Me and the cheesy Hey You (You Make Me Rock), which should give a writers credit to Dann Huff for its borrowing from Giant’s Lay It On The Line.
Quality pauses for two songs that just annoy me - the mid-tempo romp of Always & Forever (annoying chorus hook) and the ballad When I Think Of You (annoying chorus and lead guitar hook).

We’re back into the rollicking for the stampeding Trouble Is Your Middle Name and Flesh & Blood.
Well I Never has another very average chorus I could easily skip, but the near 7 minute moody Heart Of Stone is perfect.
Get Up brings memories of Coverdale/Page’s Feeling Hot, while the sweet acoustic After All has a Sailing Ships vibe to it.
Closing the album is the pretty average 6 minute Zeppelinesque rocker Sands Of Time.

At 13 tracks and 59 minutes, the album is too long. I could happily cut 3 of those tunes easily as there’s 4 fillers here. I would also note that I don’t like the sequencing either. I’d opt for an entirely different running order for a smoother flow.
But the majority of the album is still classic Whitesnake and thoroughly enjoyable, so for that reason I’m happy to rate this pretty highly, knowing that I can creature a CDR or playlist with a few less songs and my own preferred running order.

The Snake is alive!

Halestorm - "Chemicals" [Official Audio]

"Our Song "Chemicals" was written in homage to those we’ve lost and all of us struggling with mental illness. In this song I dip into the personal insanity that goes on inside your head. Because sometimes you feel like you are drowning in the whisperings of your own mind, like you are the Only One at war with your impending darkness. But really, we are all in this together. We are all battling one day at a time. We, The fighters... We are the majority. So I made the chorus an anthem, an epiphany that we are all the same, and most everyone you meet has been touched by mental illness. Let’s lift each other up. Raise Your Horns!"

TERAMAZE Announce 'Are We Soldiers' Due June 21

News Feed

Melbourne prog band, Teramaze have announced that their new album Are We Soldiers will be released on June 21, 2019 via Mascot Label Group. To celebrate the announcement the Australian band also released a new video for their song “Weight Of Humanity” which was directed by Wayne Joyner.

Watch The Video For First New Track “Weight of Humanity”

The track is the first music released from their upcoming album. Pre-order NOW! smarturl.it/Teramaze

Teramaze founder, guitarist and producer Dean Wells said of the video “Weight of humanity was one of the first songs we wrote for this album and I really believe it captures the true essence of what Teramaze is artistically and lyrically. The song touches on the pressures of living in our times and what we choose to believe and accept what is true or lies. It’s one of my favorite songs from the album and Wayne did an amazing job of creating something visually stimulating that blends well with the theme of the song.”

“Australian prog has been around for a while mate,” said Wells on the recent explosion of progressive-minded rock bands from Australia, of which Melbourne’s Teramaze are surely at the forefront. “It was kick started with bands like Cog, Karnivool, and now there’s stuff like Voyager and Caligula’s Horse and Plini and things like that.”

“Funnily enough I don’t really feel that we’re really a part of that,” he continues. The thing with Teramaze is we’re a progressive band but we’re closer to progressive metal and not progressive rock. But sometimes it’s not progressive rock at all, it’s more like metal with big pop choruses. I mean I like progressive metal because it gives me the chance to write anything under the banner of Teramaze. But sometimes I like writing pop songs. And it does leak into Teramaze, it always has. A song like ‘Her Halo’ itself for example.”

‘Her Halo’, Teramaze’s 2015 album, and their first for Mascot Records, saw the band take a big step up from previous albums ‘Anhedonia’ (2012) and ‘Esoteric Symbolism’ (2014), with the UK’s Prog Magazine calling the album “Exceptional” and stating it was “one of the finest prog metal releases of recent years.” Four years later and Wells and Teramaze are back with a new album, ‘Are We Soldiers’, another step up for the Australian band. It’s still Teramaze – all huge choruses, crashing guitar chords, intricate time changes and swooping melodies – but it’s a bigger, brighter and even better Teramaze.

There’s change beyond the music for Teramaze with ‘Are We Soldiers’, with original vocalist Brett Rerekura returning to the fold, replacing Nathan Peachey, who’d sung on ‘Her Halo’. With ‘Are We Soldiers’, Dean Wells and Teramaze have delivered another excellent piece of modern progressive metal. One that will inevitably build upon the progress achieved by ‘Her Halo’.

With plans afoot for European and UK live dates for later in the year, Teramaze are a band that are going to be occupying a lot of your time in 2019 and beyond.

“’Are We Soldiers’ is a bit more weighty, and it’s a long album,” smiles a proud Wells. “But I make no apologies for that. I enjoy it, and I just hope other people do too.

New from Dan Roth @ Music & Art Interviews

John O.Reilly, the world-class drummer from Long Island, NY, is probably most renowned for his keen sense of timing and his 15-year stint with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. But John has been on a remarkable musical journey since the early 1970's, playing with a multitude of bands and artists over the years including Blue Oyster Cult, Rainbow, O'2L, Richie Havens, Joe Lynn Turner and many others.

In 2018, John brought his collective blend of band and industry experience to Yuletide-rock sensations The Wizards of Winter, as he assumed the drum throne for their tour and upcoming new album.  While we certainly couldn't cover John's entire career in one afternoon (though we tried!), we did chat quite a bit about some of the defining points of his long and interesting career.

Since 2010 MelodicRock Records has been at the forefront of some of the best melodic music made available to fans.

It has been a great honor to be a part of each and every release – whether it be championing a new artist; digging something out of the vaults; or a brand-new release from an established act.

2019 sees MRR reach the milestone of 100 releases. So what better way to celebrate the milestone than a compilation of the artists featured on MRR.

This however, isn’t your average ‘best of’ affair – this compilation will feature songs that didn’t make the albums MRR released – hence the title ‘Left Off The First 99’.

‘Left Off The First 99’ will offer a range of bonus tracks featured from the first 99 releases, plus some exclusive unreleased tracks from the recording sessions that spawned those albums.

And for good measure – a little taste of what’s to come in the year ahead, with some exclusive preview tracks from upcoming MRR releases.

Palace of The King - "Get Right With Your Maker (Live)"

Melbourne rockers Palace Of The King are saying goodbye to the album cycle surrounding last years scorcher of a record, Get Right With You Maker, (released a year ago in April 2018 via Golden Robot Records) with a special LIVE version of the albums title track recorded at  The Corner Hotel in Melbourne!

Download/Stream GRWYM Live now! smarturl.it/grwymlive

Frontman Tim Henwood says of the song, “This live version of - Get Right With Your Maker, was recorded in a packed, hot, and sweaty Corner Hotel in Melbourne a few months back. Our album (of the same name) actually didn’t include this song other than a hidden acoustic track on the CD.

We loved the track so much however, and the audience reaction to it in Europe on our last tour, that we felt it was important to record an electric version which was released at the end of 2018.
As with most songs in the POTK live show, GRWYM grew and developed a life of it’s own at the live shows, so we wanted to share this with you before bringing you new music from our forthcoming album very soon.. “

EDEN'S CURSE Call It A Day

Sad news today from Paul Logue:

“It is with heavy heart that we announce that having evaluated our past and future, we have reluctantly mutually decided to bring Eden’s Curse to a natural end.

As you will hopefully agree, Eden’s Curse have always set the highest standards when it comes to songwriting, album production, artwork, live performances, set design, merchandising, social media presence and interaction with our fans.

Those high standards require significant investment of our money, our time, our families time and that of our label AFM Records.

To justify continuing this investment we must see benefits such as ever increasing:

- album sales
- concert attendances
- merchandise sales
- potential live opportunities
- booking agency & management interest

Our evaluation has lead us to this point where it is no longer desirable to continue operating as a band.

Nikola, Thorsten, Paul, Chrism and John do this with a great degree of sadness but we all recognise that this is the right decision for us at this time in our career and lives. We began our journey together as band mates and we bring it to an end as friends.

Our thirteen years together have brought us many wonderful experiences. We have been musically fulfilled beyond our wildest imagination and all of us have been dearly humbled by our wonderfully devoted and loyal fanbase.

We thank everyone dearly who has supported us, most especially Timo & Nils and all the wonderful staff at our record label AFM Records, our producer Dennis Ward, our artist Thomas Ewerhard, our great friends and colleagues Pete Newdeck and Carsten Schulz, Ryan Northrop at Metal Mayhem Music, Andrew McNeice at MelodicRock.com, Akira Sugiuchi at Spiritual Beast plus James LaBrie and Dream Theater, Pamela Moore, Liv Kristine, Doogie White, Shock City Productions and all members of Eden's Curse past and present.

Our website, online store and social media pages will remain until the end of May 2019.

They say all good things must come to an end."

So, for the last time ... STAY CURSED!
Nikola, Thorsten, Paul, Chrism & John.

The Metal Voice: Carmine Appice & Jim Crean

Release Year:
2015

Jimmy Kay
from The Metal Voice (https://www.facebook.com/themetalvoice) talks to legendary drummer Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Blue Murder) and singer Jim Crean (Hair Nation, Appice Brothers) about Vinnie Vincent's  Nashville's show cancellations claims on February 8-9 2019. Carmine and Crean correct Vincent's claims on why the show were cancelled and who cancelled them

Watch the Show  Here  (sorry for the feedback sound) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLkHNslB76s

When asked about  the recent claims by Vinnie Vincent that his promoter was to blame for the recent cancellations of the show in Nashville and Vincent's disapproval of the choice in singer
"The promoter did nothing but try his best to make these gigs happen. The promoter Derek Christopher hired me because I knew Vinnie and I talked to Vinnie and we said maybe it would be cool if I did the gigs with him and Vinnie Vincent agreed. Derek hired me and put the deal together, then I brought bassist Tony Franklin in whom Vinnie never heard of before. Then they were going through tons of singers and I said  I have this guy names Jim Crean that can sing high just like the original Vinnie Vincent invasion singer Robert Fleischman. I told Jim Crean about it and he was up for it. Then Derek  said why don't you put Jim Crean's voice on a couple of Vinnie's tracks and he would send it to Vinnie and see what he thinks and that's what we did. And from what I remember Vinnie said to the promoter Derek that he thought Jim Crean was great. So we were moving ahead and waiting for a set list and then when we never got any set list from Vinnie so the promoter sent me, Jim and Tony some lists of songs, which included Vinnie's songs and Kiss Songs and I thought that was what we were going to do and then Vinnie started to steer away. And I said to Vinnie, I saw that clip of you playing that Pre-Kiss cruise clip you did not look comfortable on stage,  you looked scared and I blatantly said can you still play? You didn't do any solos?  Vinnie said to me yeah I can still play. Then later on Vinnie said I don't want to do any Kiss songs or my songs I just want to jam for an hour and a half after he just put out a press release with the promoter saying I'm gonna do Kiss songs, Vinnie Vincent songs, this is him verbally saying that on the ad. Then he changed his mind on that and said he just wanted to jam. Quite honestly I don't want to jam, I don't want to go on the stage and jam. I want to play songs people want to come and hear. As for choosing Jim Crean as the singer, I was working behind the scenes getting Jim Crean to sing demo songs for Vinnie so he can hear what he sounds like. Derek the promoter said Vinnie was fine with him, Derek had no reason to lie about it so we were going to move ahead."  Carmine Appice

"Derek called me and wanted me to sing some of Vinnie's songs so I did that, they got back to Vinnie and they said he was very impressed with it. Derek called me the day after he talked to Vinnie and said that Vinnie was very happy with the vocals and he loves it and we are going to make a press announcement and put a poster up as well. Then Derek called me up and said to me to please start sharing the information to get a buzz going so then we started promoting it and then Vinnie started changing his mind." Jim Crean

When asked about Vinnie Vincent's statement "There's only one uncontroverted fact that actually did happen, and that is that I, Vinnie Vincent, did not cancel that show

"The cancellations came from Vinnie he did not want to do the gig. I gave Vinnie three other singers to pick from but Vinnie did not like them and Vinnie said Jim Crean was good. Then Vinnie to blame it all on Derek the promoter who is the nicest guy and is now really ill since all of this happened is bad. Derek has not been able to stand up for himself because he has been really ill, in and out of the hospital. The last thing on his mind is Vinnie Vincent right now, he is trying to get healthy. And to see Vinnie saying it's Derek's fault, it wasn't his fault. Derek the promoter did everything he can to make these gig happen. Vinnie is saying it's Derek's fault I'm saying it's not his fault, Derek did everything and beyond to make things happen, to keep it on track. Derek brought Vinnie out of hiding, he put together that Kiss expo that Vinnie came out on, that made Vinnie money, Vinnie didn't do that Derek did that." Carmine Appice

When asked why Jim Crean was one of the scapegoats
"I don't think Vinnie Vincent should be blaming me, I was there just trying to help him out. I came into the band late and Carmine is a very high profile artist and so is Tony Franklin so I guess that leaves me and the promoter to blame." Jim Crean

TURBOKILL is one of the hottest and musically impressive Heavy Metal bands that Steamhammer/SPV have signed in recent years.

TURBOKILL is a new band, which singer Stephan Dietrich, formerly of Alpha Tiger, joined. Together with guitarists Ronny Schuster and Daniel Kanzler, bassist Marco 'Fox' Grünnwald and drummer Philipp 'Nafta' Dießl, they created a heavy metal monster.. Olly Hahn (Head of Steamhammer) has great confidence in the new SPV signing: "I am very delighted to be able to engage TURBOKILL for our label.
