Scottish musician Ted Mckenna, who played with The Sensational Alex Harvey Band and The Michael Shenker Group, was said to have been going in for a routine operation but died as a result of complications which lead to him haemorrhaging blood.

A close friend of the 68-year-old confirmed the news on social media and paid tribute to the drummer who was originally from Lennoxtown, East Dunbartonshire.

In an emotional post Gerry McAvoy wrote: "I'm lost for words creating this post. I lost my friend and comrade this morning. After what should have been a routine operation, there were complications, meaning Ted started haemorrhaging blood.”

"Sadly the surgeons could not stop the bleeding. I spoke with Ted on Thursday, wished him good luck and told him we will speak on Saturday. I'm devastated. Ted was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. A brilliant musician. He was a big man with a big heart, and he has left us all with a big hole in our lives.”

"RIP Ted from myself, Marcel, Davy and all those musicains who had the pleasure of playing with one of the finest drummers of all time."

Reload, Rewind & Recall Rock N Roll - Swedish glam boogie blue-eyed soul rockers DIAMOND DOGS are back to set things straight!

After the loss of saxophone player and longtime band member Magic Gunnarsson (who died in a drowning accident 2014) Sulo and the rest of DIAMOND DOGS called it a day. They released the album “Quitters & Complainers” in 2015 and went on a farewell tour ending in Oviedo in October together with Iggy Pop.

Since then Sulo’s been releasing 3 solo albums, working with Chris Spedding, Paul Young, The Crunch and the rest of the members been busy with other projects. During this time a lot of DIAMOND DOGS gig requests been dropping in from all over the world and when they found out that 4 of the 10 previous studio albums been out of stock for a long time and wasn’t available as download they started to make a plan.

Sulo & Honk (Henrik Widen), the remaining original members thought it was time to set things straight and release “that” compilation they’ve been talking about for many years. One thing led to another and soon they had a plan and even some new tracks to blend up the compilation with.

“RECALL ROCK & ROLL” (Cargo Records) will be a double album including 30 tracks. 25 old and 5 brand new songs. At the same time Cargo Records will re-release 4 previous albums on Vinyl/CD & download.

The albums are: “As your greens turn brown”, “Too much is always better than not enough”, “That’s the juice I’m on” and the split album “Atlantic Crossover” with legendary US Punkrock singer Jeff Dahl.

“RECALL ROCK & ROLL” will be released in September/October and DIAMOND DOGS planning to tour Europe.

Golden Robot Records is very proud to have signed guitar legend and incredible songwriter John Sykes.

John is an English rock guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter who has played with Street-fighter, Tygers of Pan Tang, John Sloman’s Badlands, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, and Blue Murder. Sykes co-wrote the majority of the songs on Whitesnake’s 1987 self-titled album with David Coverdale. John is also a successful solo artist releasing five solo and live albums ranging from the critically acclaimed Nuclear Cowboy to Loveland.

John has had an incredible career starting with Tygers of Pan Tang where he released four albums, including Crazy Nights. He enjoyed short stints in Badlands and Streetfighter before joining Thin Lizzy and featuring on Thunder and Lightening which was the band’s 12th studio album and hit number four on the UK charts.

Most notably, John’s best known work was when he joined the infamous Whitesnake with David Coverdale and co-wrote the 40 million selling Whitesnake which was the band’s self-titled seventh studio album, released in 1987. It produced a major power ballad hit, “Is This Love”, along with the number one hit “Here I Go Again”. The album was a major crossover hit eventually selling over eight million copies in the US alone (and thus going eight times platinum). It peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200 and number eight on the UK Albums Chart. Its success in the US boosted its predecessor, Slide It In, from gold to double platinum status and would see the band receive a nomination for the Brit Award for Best British Group in 1988.

Over the past few years, John has played on numerous albums and released his own albums. His latest record is yet to be titled and will be coming out on GRR in 2019. After a long hiatus since 2004 this album is set to blow the world apart and keep all his old and new fans extremely happy- it will be well worth the wait. So get ready and strap yourself in for the 2019 album of the year. John is back and in full force – stay tuned!

STARBREAKER is phenomenal! No surprises there! Immense sound and intensity and holy shit Tony can sing.

KANE ROBERTS is not what most readers here are going to want to hear. Not sure who he's going to appeal to. Modern, heavy and experimental.

TOBY HITCHCOCK is one of my favourite vocalists but this is a long way behind the debut album with Erik Martensson. Still always great to hear him singing.

WITHIN TEMPTATION is ok...I need more time...but many of the songs not standing out yet.

WAKE THE NATIONS is more Scandi greatness. Just wish they'd signed with me! Hahaha...

GUNS N’ ROSES BASSIST RECORDING WITH PRODUCER SHOOTER JENNINGS

NEW ALBUM COMING IN 2019

Los Angeles, CA (December 5, 2018) – New York Times bestselling author and Guns N’ Roses bassist DUFF McKAGAN is putting the finishing touches on a solo album that’s coming in 2019.

McKagan began recording the album back in March with producer Shooter Jennings. The two worked out of Station House studios, located in Echo Park, CA, writing and recording in-between McKagan’s tour with seminal rock band Guns N’ Roses and the release of Jennings’ eponymous album, Shooter.

The album will be McKagan’s musical follow-up to 2015’s bestselling book, How To Be A Man (And Other Illusions).

“I wrote a couple of articles about historical places I passed through on this last tour and people kept asking if that was going to be the focus of my next book,” says McKagan. “But an unseen and irrepressible force guided me to write little vignettes of reflective prose…little instant-reactions.

The heartbreak, anger, fear, confusion and divide I have experienced over the last two and a half years of traveling this globe of ours coerced these words into songs that tell my truth, and one that I hope will spread and help us all. I do this for my daughters…I do this for my love of where I grew up…I do this, because I truly feel it must be done and said right now.”

“From the first night we sat together at my piano hashing out arrangements of his songs, before going into the studio to record them, I felt it was a really important record that had to be heard,” says Jennings. “The songs have so much heart and are so musical that I could just hear all the arrangements immediately and I could really feel them.”

About his connection to McKagan, Jennings says, “I met Duff right after I moved to Los Angeles nearly twenty years ago. I was such a massive Guns N' Roses fan when I was younger. I'd say that they had a lot to do with me even moving to LA. But there was some kind of magnetic force I guess that kept us orbiting each other over the years. When the idea of collaborating with him on this album came up, I was very eager to get the job as producer. I felt like the music this man made was part of the fabric of my own musical identity and that I would really love building a record with him. Once we sat down and started going over the songs he had, I instantly knew that the two of us were going to be a great fit together.”

RICK SPRINGFIELD is currently in the studio working on an "orchestral album" that will feature his greatest hits (plus one brand enw track) accompanied by a full orchestra.

There is no scheduled completion date or release information as yet, but it promises to be huge, with Rick telling me "the orchestra sounds really great..." and promising more details soon.

Once that's completed, Rick plans to start writing his next all-new studio album, saying that there was no particular direction planned, but says "it will come out of writing...." once started.

Rick last week lost his back fence to the Malibu fires and last night took part in a charity show alongside Katy Perry to raise money for families affected.

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the signing of BLACK ROSE MAZE, a new project centered around the talents of the awesome Canadian singer Rosa Laricchiuta.

Rosa Laricchiuta is a singer, songwriter, and performer from Montreal, Quebec. After several years cutting her teeth with live shows, she auditioned for the third season (2015) of "La Voix", Quebec's version of the popular TV show "The Voice”. Rosa had an instant connection with the legendary francophone rocker Éric Lapointe and chose him as her coach. Rosa showed a solid stage presence, with remarkable intensity and a voice so powerful, it sent her straight to the Grand Finale where she shared the stage with Def Leppard, Kelly Clarkson, Jean Leloup, and her idol, Melissa Etheridge. She left a lasting impression as she won over millions of viewers who named her the new "it" Quebec female rocker.

She then released one album in the Quebec market before beginning work on her first English language album in 2016. That album, “Free" was released the following year and at the end of the year, she joined the popular American band Trans-Siberian Orchestra for their annual mega tour of the United States.

Rosa was then brought to the attention of Frontiers by none other than fellow Trans-Siberian Orchestra bandmates and now labelmates, Dino Jelusic (Animal Drive) and Jeff Scott Soto. Rosa will now front her very own hard rock project and will be working diligently on it over the next few months. Stay tuned for more news as it becomes available.

I’m yet to announce any release or plans for MelodicRock Records in 2019.

I’m doing this for a reason.

There are plans and I have what I think to be some more cool new artist releases, some familiar names coming back and also more from the archives.

But it is clear that something different needs to be done to place the emphasis back on fans to preorder direct, which is the most important avenue for the artist and label to cover costs. And I’m doing so, those fans need to be suitably thanked and rewarded.

So stay tuned for the 2019 MelodicRock Records reveal...we’re going to try and do things a little differently in the year that will see title MRR100 released.
